I think mesmer didn’t get tweaked in the right way. As it stands, especially in roaming wvw – condition phantasm builds based around prismatic understanding are incredibly potent. I would have liked to see a nerf to clone spam (maybe an ICD on deceptive evasion), a nerf on the duration of protection PU can give to the mesmer and some sort of change to the mechanics of phantasms. As it stands when fighting these tanky very stealth heavy builds you are inundated with clones and phantasms that leave you with two choices: die from on clone death conditions and the mesmer – or chase the mesmer and die from phantasm/clone on hit conditions. It’s alright in my opinion for mesmers to be able to deceive and stealth about, but where I wanted to see a change was to their ability to create clutter and something that forces mesmers to be smarter with their phantasms (maybe a cooldown system similar to ranger spirits). Right now I feel like fighting them is kind of kitten ed if you do kitten ed if you don’t in the sense that if you kill the clones/phantasms you suffer, if you don’t – well you suffer too.

Can any ANET employee respond maybe as to how these finishers are priced? This is definitely not worth 600 gems, it’s one of the least flashy finishers I’ve seen. How are you guys pricing these ?
whoop typed 800 first time by accident. still not worth 600.

I just wanted to add too, I realize that calculations and server data bursts would be a bit of a problem here as the debuff gets applied/removed so I also thought that a way around that would be to have the debuff be timed. Nothing too long so you aren’t standing around waiting for it to wear off all the time instead of fighting, but something decent enough so the server wouldn’t be constantly recalculating your damage or stats – depending on what kind of debuff it ended up being.
I’ve had this idea for a while, probably might have been mentioned before but I figured I’d post it anyway.
So we know that the AoE cap of 5 really empowers large blobs of players, and we also know that this 5 cap is a technical limitation and probably isn’t going anywhere. So I thought to myself, how can we make people not want to blob up? What sort of disincentive can we give them. So I came up with this:
Crowded Debuff:
When a certain number of players (lets say 30 for now) are grouped within a certain radius of one another they will receive a debuff known as Crowded. I haven’t exactly thought of the definitive punishment that comes along with crowded but I thought of a few possibilities:
I am by no means suggesting ALL of these happen. these are just some ideas for the debuff
Movement speed reduction (lots of people around you, it’s hard to move!): This would leave blobs in player AoE longer – thereby increasing the amount of damage they take.
Flat increase in damage from AoE: Not my favourite choice, but it would make the AoE dmg of a smaller group more effective against the larger group and would help smaller groups that kite larger groups through chokes have a better chance at winning.
Endurance degeneration (so many people around you, you’re pushing past them which makes you tired!): Basically I thought it’d maybe be a neat idea to have your endurance decrease when so many people are around you. This would decrease the defensive capability of the zerg by removing their ability to dodge, making player AoE more effective by attacking the massive damage mitigation of the blob that comes from dodging.
Stability Immunity or decreased stability duration (lots of people around you, you are being jostled and can’t remain stable): Strategically placed CC can definitely turn the tide in a battle but with the abundance of AoE stability and personal stability that come with the main WvW classes (cough warriors, guardians cough) I felt that CC sometimes loses its umph. This one is a bit dangerous because of the chance that full on CC zergs would become the norm, but I think with some playing around it could be worked in to not be completely abusable.
So that’s my idea basically! I tried to work in a physical reason why the debuff is being applied (mostly cause there are tons of effing people around you) Thoughts? If you can think of other cool debuffs I would really like to hear them!

50 lives in … still can’t get through the waterfall – the door opens sometimes the store animation starts but I always end up dead? What gives?
Can anyone tell me how I’m supposed to get in here? I just keep dying over and over.
Tribulation Mode Shortcut Eagle is working as intended. Shortcut Eagle has an acute sense of justice, and skipping Tribulation Mode is not very justice-ey.
I hate you
<3
Not sure if this is supposed to be trololo but when I take shortcut eagle in W2Z2 TM, he brings me back to the start!! BAD BIRD!!
Is this intended?
I’m sorry to say but, that build looks absolutely terrible.
hello marion. your server smells.
*delete.
and yes, I agree wholeheartedly.
then you won’t get the achievement. they said that all classes are capable (and they are) but they may have to change their builds.
seems that anything that can make people a few silver that doesn’t involve mindlessly zerging champions anet will nerf.
yup nerfed with the last patch. gg.
same is happening for me x.x
came here to say the same thing. in a zone like this paying 1.4 silver per mistake is going to add up quickly …
This change is absolutely stupid. The on activation protection was clutch in situations where you’re being heartseeker spammed or focussed in a teamfight – but now it’s literally a 35 second waste of a weapon skill. Swiftness as a boon? Are you kidding me? I can see it now – thief HS spamming you, oh god please protection – yay 3 stacks of swiftness , now my body can fall to the ground faster I guess?
Unwarranted nerf – plain and simple.
I’m not saying I’m offended, but there are kids who play this game and their parents might not want them to see such things.
Well … here goes
I have noticed the likeness of a certain female anatomical feature located on the textures for the lion in the middle of LA. I would recommend remedying this to avoid offending people (ss attached). Please forgive my potato graphics settings.
probably for the best. your attitude was atrocious the times I followed you. it’s very bad for your guild name when you call everyone on the server you just transferred to ‘baddies’ then rage quit EB with no notice.
I wouldn’t go to T1 – that’s for sure. We’re crowded as hell.
he had 20 stacks while the other guy didn’t have any lol
The only thing you could do is remove the initiative return on stealth from combo fields. Changing anything else destroys the entire set.
now that I like. still gives the on demand stealth, but makes you pay for it a bit more. that would stop the major problem I see with the set – which is the ability to basically wait for the opponent to either blow all his cooldowns trying to hit you while you’re invisible – then strike when the time is right for you (I don’t mind thieves being able to do this sometimes, but not constantly jump around forcing that perfect moment), or to be able to reset fights completely at will (which again thieves should be able to do, just not as much as this set allows)
I do run D/P. I just feel the stealth combo is too strong when executed properly. Yes it takes a bit of skill to do it, but when it’s done properly it’s just too good.
Would you guys settle for maybe a lower base stealth on leap finishers through smoke fields? Removing leap from heart seeker is definitely not something I think would fix the problem.
Have there been any words from devs about how they feel about the blinding powder stealth granted by heartseeker with this weapon combo ? Just curious.
I personally feel it’s way too strong, and was wondering if it’ll be nerfed anytime soon.
ahh nice so it’s not unique to mesmers. maybe that’ll make it easier to lock down
Not sure if this has been reported but I’ve been seeing this for a while and have finally remembered to post it.
I call it the glamour cooldown bug. Basically, cast a glamour skill like portal (have it on cd, which is 90 seconds base) and equip feedback (or another glamour skill) and that newly equipped skill will now be put on cooldown and the timer will match the CD of the portal at the moment it was equipped (which can actually result in feedback taking on greater than 40 second cooldown). Also for what it’s worth, this bug has happened to me the most when changing a manipulation utility to glamour (swapping decoy or blink for feedback/veil).
Anyone else run into this? Because I have, a lot
this exact same thing has happened to me. I flip items regularly and have noticed that none of them have moved, when I went to see if there was another supply wall below mine I was shocked to see my listings aren’t even in the buy now window.
can any dev seriously respond to whether or not this is intentional? I am not making any more sale listings until I know for sure.
The NPC escort that comes with you remains in the starting hut and won’t budge, impossible to proceed after this happens.
I don’t understand.
I’m newer to sPVP, lower rank because I mostly pvp in WvW and wanted to improve my game. I’ve played hotjoin mostly (just honing mechanics) and a few tournaments, recently I’ve decided to try tournaments again. I understand, PUG groups aren’t always going to be successful but the last 3 tournament matches I’ve played have not only been 5v4 or 4v3’s but the rank difference was immense (see picture for recent).
The game in the picture I was clearly with a premade 3 (same guild tag) but does that really warrant being pitted against players who have clearly way more experience? What the hell is going on with the matchmaking ?!
For the love of god disable this item, or at least make it so you can’t equip it while stealth shrined – having a knockback from permanent stealth is tooooo broken.
HAHAHAHAH.
No.

look at ether clone:
“Shoot out a third bolt of energy that confuses your target. Summon a clone that casts Ether Bolt.”
Part of it could be because you’re still not at 80, we are a profession that shines as we gain more trait points. I would suggest your play-style is not terribly bad if you’re able to solo veterans! Those trap hallways in AC are pretty tough actually, I’ve done a lot of dungeons / fractals and finally decided to try AC last week – they got me too, so did some of the bosses and I’m wearing full exotics. Ignore the mean people as best as you can, I find that they’re the exception and not the rule when it comes to this game. Add me in game if you want to talk about mesmers at all and I’ll share what I know!
That’s mainly what I was wondering, in the tooltip it says it confuses but in reality it doesn’t. I feel like the clones are sort of underpowered (gs clones are good for applying bleeds if you have sharper images, staff is great for winds of chaos etc …) but sceptre clones just feel like they lack a punch. Was just curious if there’d been any word on it, thanks!
Been going through the Dev Tracker and haven’t seen anything. Has anyone heard of what the devs are thinking for mesmer sceptre? are they even looking at it?
Any info would be great. thanks.
had the same bug. doesn’t spawn adds, can’t finish the fractal.
Hey everyone,
I just wanted to hear other mesmers’ thoughts on the confusion condition? Here are my pros and cons (add your own! I want to see your thoughts, and ideas on improvement)
Pros:
-Very strong against skill spamming classes (thieves), maybe one of the most potent conditions depending on how fast enemy is auto attacking / using skills.
-Intensity stacking can result in massive damage
-Can be strong against champions/bosses once you know their attack pattern
-True damage
Cons:
-Not very strong against basic mobs (lucky to get 1 tick given mob attack patterns, could be that I’m doing it wrong – let me know if you have different experiences)
-Even with domination duration extension and 33% confusion extension illusions trait, duration is still quite short (easily ignorable by smart players in pvp via kiting, hard to time the high stack damage properly with mobs as the first confusion will already be almost completely ticked down, giving you only a 1-2 second window of high stack confusion to try and time with mob actions)
-Purple
My thoughts on potential improvements:
-Possibly remove intensity stacking and opt for duration. This would require a buff in the condition damage to confusion damage conversion ratio, making confusion more of a slow dot condition rather than a small window spike condition.
-Keep intensity stacking, buff the base duration slightly (maybe in PVE only, to make the window of high intensity confusion on mobs more forgiving)
-Have each new stack of confusion applied increase intensity and refresh duration of the total stacks applied (this requires a base confusion timer across all confusion applying skills, possible reduction in confusion damage to compensate for increased window of higher stacks). The reason I like this idea is because it will remove that very rapid drop off of early confusions timing out as you’re applying ones further down the road, making it easier to actually get damage from high stack confusion instead of getting maybe 1 tick at 5 and 2 at 1-3. The only huge problem I see here is if you were to say standardize all confusion applying skills to be x seconds then you would severely hinder the effectiveness of such traits as the glamour confusions.
-Add confusion damage to channel skills (count each second as an action as opposed to just the execution of the skill)
-Add dodging as a confusable player action (unsure about this one, kinda just came to me earlier. If confusion is supposed to be damage on skill use, dodging is technically a skill and I feel that this would put it on par with other conditions as they damage through dodges).
Let me know what you think / improve my ideas / give your own. I am fully aware that for some of my suggestions a damage nerf might be necessary. I just find confusion to be lackluster because its actual window of effectiveness is too variant to make it as reliable as other conditions, which will do damage regardless of player activity (which is why confusion is unique but I would sacrifice that uniqueness for more reliable pvp/pve damage).
