It seems most people would blame Logan for the failure in the first place. But the other way to look at it in that point of view is; if he hadn’t done what he did to save the Queen and allow Ebonhawke to be overrun, where exactly would the humans be then? In the same ruinous state as previous fallen civilizations and races perhaps? Or the story being told in our present time would show a weaker Kryta, and Divinity’s Reach may as well be in higher political upheaval.

The Queen managed to save herself, creating an illusion of the Kraky for the branded to follow. Logan wasn’t entierly nessessary there. What he did that was useful was freeing the Charr prisoners and working side by side with them, essentially starting the two races on the road to peace. Also as a story element, Logan finding his Brother’s body on the battlefeild is probably what stopped him from going back to Destiny’s Edge after making sure the Queen was safe, because he no longer had anyone in the Serif who he trusted to keep her safe (and he is a bit obsessed with the Queen and her safety). So while he was a prat for not having his priorities in order and thinking he was needed to help save the Queen dispight the Shining Blade and the Serif both being on the scene, he helped with diplomatic relation with the Charr overall.

Also, probably after hearing tales of the old ways and of fahrar, they might form one fo their own with other Lion’s Arch cubs, essentially a street gang.

Give it a generation or so and Lion’s Arch will see gangster Charr prowling it’s streets.

The Fire Elemental isn’t actually made of fire, he’s made of 100% Pure, Highly Volatile Rage (or PHVR for short). To sustain his body he needs a constant supply of curb-stomped players.

The incredible diffuse magic

The schools of magic the Bloodstones separate might not be as binary as Earth, Fire, Air, Water, ect. I would hazard a guess that it’s far more elaborate.
For instance:
A school of magic that is Abyssal – Anything that involves death or the manipulation of lifeforce, so a necromancer can disassociate himself with his own lifeforce and turn it into a weapon creating the deathshroud. (I haven’t played necromancer yet, I might have gotten that example a little wrong)
A school of magic that is Creation – Any point where you make something from nothing: Elementalist summoning large flaming spires of rock, Guardians summoning ethereal chains.
A school of magic that revolves around manipulation – The Mesmer’s bag of tricks as well as any magical side of the thief

It’s not know how evenly the Bloodstones were split so the ability to teleport might lie over multiple stones.

A minipet in use shouldn’t be deposited if I select deposit all collectables
If I beat up a heard of mobs with my face and fill my bags with loot, I don’t want to have to be delicate and stop gathering the rewards (cause they sometimes disappear quickly) just so I can keep my minipet on me

Asura and Charr child rearing is very similar in that they have their young, and then the young are placed in a sort of boarding school (Fahrahr or College) by the parents to be raised, and are checked up on every now and then (often silently and without the child’s knowledge)

So a High School style fan-fic could be in universe, awesome.

and an announced but as-yet untitled Third Book.

Called Sea of Sorrows about the sinking of Lion’s Arch

Also the official walkthroughs of the original games and probably Guild Wars 2 have quite a lot of background information and lore in them alongside normal game information.

I need to re-read that section, but i tought Logan left during the battle, or was it before?

Logan being a Guardian it was way easier for him to protect Snaff, Eir being a warrior knew too well how to defend herself but not how to defend someone else.

Minor correction: Logan alone wasn’t the one defending Snaff. Caithe, Eir, Rytlock, Zojja and Logan were defending several entrance points that all lead to Snaff. Logan was supposed to help Caithe defend one of the entrances, but he left and Caithe alone wasn’t enough and she was overrun. Knowing full well the tactical weakness of Caithe by herself Eir decided they could hold out long enough to deal the final blow. It was her call in the end and Snaff ended up paying for it.

Logan was a total git for running off though, I admit.

Playing around in the character creator with a friend I was prompted to make a Norn to match the name Kitta Cliffjumper and instantly I had the idea of a young, slight Norn who to make up for her lack of brute strength took to climbing and jumping off anything high up. She continued to build her own character in my head until it sort of unfurled into this story.

Feedback and thoughts are welcome. As of writing I haven’t explored much of the shiverpeaks and may have made up one or two of the places mentioned.

Also a point I had trouble with was how a Norn town was depicted in Edge of Destiny and how they are portrayed in game as remote lodges. I went with the style in the book, because the origional Guild Wars supported that style.

Necromancy - why am I allowed to raise undead

in Lore

Posted by: Overworld.9613

Overworld.9613

The undead that Zaithan controls are evil cause cause Zaithan commands them to do evil deeds. Also the undead that player characters and NPCs create aren’t human looking, Zaithan also keeps the form of the dead, if it was human is stays human, which is slightly cruel to have your past friends attack you, you summon small critter-like minions.

There was a bit of lore about how necromancy and resurrection was impossible, but Grenth usurped Dhuum and had a much more lenient rules for death.

If the dragons really wanted to destroy everything they could, when Kralkatorrik awoke he corrupted everything in his wake, all he had to do was fly over a major city and game over. But no, they sit in the corners of the world and send minions to do their vague bidding. They might have a overall plan, possibly to do with the human gods not intervening or something.

Physiology/culture of the non-human races

in Lore

Overworld.9613

Was talking with a friend and came to a wondering about the Non-human races, about the finer more private parts of their culture, mainly for roleplaying reasons, but also curiosity. For instance: How does Norn courtship happen?
Do the men try and impress a woman?
Do women beat up men they’re not impressed with? Because I can’t think of a Norn doing anything else with something they’re unimpressed with.
Cause there seems to be no real gender divide in Norn culture, is there a set person who raises the children?
How family orientated are the Norn? Because in most of the stuff we’ve seen Norn tend to live alone as adults, yet random dialogue in Hoelbrak suggests they do get married.
Some lodges in the world seem to have whole families living in them, while others are businesses or just a random house people stop in to rest while adventuring. Is there any culture about what kind of lodge you can walk into?

How do Asuran families work? As may Asurans seem to live in their labs or have their personal labs at home, are there many instances of young Asurans getting injured or killed from the more dangerous experiments? Because some Asurans have little sense of lab safety. Do Asurans give birth to litters? Cause they look like originally similar to Moles IRL who also give birth to a litter of young.

Char have much more lore already explaining early life and family stuff. But my one question is again: Do they give birth to litters of young? Also are they called Kittens or something adorable?
