I just play towards healing power so my heals can do more, honestly I can’t wait for new patch to hopefully polish up staff a little so I can actually do something other than heal. The Meteor shower fix will be the big one though, I’ve been complaining about those meteors missing since way back when. Biggest problem facing elementalists is the lack of a strong healthpool or any resemblance of armor, hey should bump the health pool by about 2-3k, and make the earth traits actually defensive, there’s currently only 3 defensive traits in the whole earth line, 4 if you count the first sub-trait. We have next to no damage mitigation and rely heavily on our ability to heal and stack boons, which really leaves us lacking. I would kill to be able to have condi build though, closest thing now would be a S/F fire aura signet build, but that build is gimmicky as all hell.

What I meant by a matchmaking system is that it would no longer be server vs server but instead group A vs Group B that join from a list of matches.

And offering the higher team less reward IS punishing them, they would need to do more than the losing team to get the same reward. It used to be in America that the losing team didn’t get a trophy, now we have participation trophies….I can’t begin to tell you how much I hate participation trophies.

Just make it a matchmaking system like all other forms of PvP in gaming. It’s the only way to solve the population issues, just suck it up and do it already Anet. Then Guilds can actually have map wide GvGs and the pugs will still be able to casually log on and kill something once in a while. Maybe even make the macthes shorter and more of a situation where its 1v1, one team on offense and the other on defense.

So you want to punish servers for being on top? That’s not a great way to go about it, because then people will just keep transferring around to whichever servers are getting the better benefits or completely throw matches in an attempt to get that bonus in the next match. Best way to counter the imbalance between servers is to just turn WvW into a matchmaking system like SPvP is, force the matches to be balanced.

Fear The Magi!!!!!!! Thats what I’m using right now after finally grinding the dang thing to 80. I’ll switch the crests out for 4 runes of fire/2 runes of strength once I can afford it lol. I like magi for the precision and vitality, 2600 armor is plenty for being in a fight, as long as you know where/when to dodge. Seeing as how gaurdians have the lowest health pool and heavy armor, I think it’s much more important to get you health pool up, specifically in WvW. There’s always going to be the moments where your going to get focused and having an extra 300 armor instead of the extra 3-4k health isn’t going to be ideal. If you look at necros for example, they can run almost no toughness and still be some of the tankiest players in the game, so I would say once you get to around 2600 armor just get yourself some vitality. The constant stream of protection and regeneration are going to make up for the lack of toughness as well imo.

Players can actually prevent the kick due to inactivity by going to the hero panel and switching armor in and out, essentially giving them the ability to stay in your keep for as long as they’re willing to do such a mundane task

I agree, 3 min sounds ok. It would help dead spying also the mesmer getting rez in keep issue, not that it happens often.

Yeah, it would help with assaulting or defending keeps as well since there’s always those players who just sit there dead right outside the gate waiting around as if they’re going to get a res, and instead end up getting the fools killed who think they can get the rez offf in time.

If after three minutes have gone by, the player who is dead should be teleported back to the WP. not an angry post but this seems like the best way to kick those dead players while still giving them a chance to be rezzed. Hopefully this would be an easy fix to add in to the game so we can introduce this change asap.

Most organized groups use Teamspeak/raidcall and don’t even bother using tags so this idea isn’t really meant for organized guilds/parties. The whole point is to promote organization in WvW both on the pug level as well as for organized folks. The biggest complaint I always hear about pugs is that they don’t knnow where they’re going/doing, so I think if you can create more rally points on a map, some that would be camping parties, some that wouldn’t it would help organize players to the areas that actually wanna be in. The Blue dorito right now is nothing more than a rally point for the zerglings, regardless of who the actual commander is. Also some people either don’t want to or can’t be in voice communication so they’re going to look for their info in the form of text via map chat. Your idea of server communication is fine and all, but brand new players who don’t even know what WvW is and have never used teamspeak and the like are going to be less likely to join in on your "server communication.

The whole point to the thread is basically that the way Anet has presented WvW is in the simplest and sloppiest of ways imaginable, and that they should do something about that, anything really. I’ll be happy to have some more build diversity/viability in the next patch though, Condi Staff Ele here I come. ;P

P.S. if you really think that 40g isn’t that much than you PvE too much imo, lol.

This probably should have been suggested before but its not on the front page. There should also be general tags and scout tags available along with the already present commander tag.

Currently the system of nothing but commanders being visible on the map is at times, a little confusing. You should create Scout tags for players who are most likely near the friendly zerg but not actually apart of it. These Scouts can move ahead of the commanders and lead smaller groups to take camps, stall/kill enemies/dolyaks and of course relay information to the commander about enemy position/strength. Maybe even make said scout tags visible only to commanders themselves and Generals.

Generals would be very important as well because at times if there are too many commanders on the field they will stretch the player base too far out and weaken your group. The possibility of having a General tag on the field at peak hours like reset night can help to alleviate problems that arise when there are just too many voices speaking up.

Obviously the general tag should come with a hefty price but I believe part of that price should come in the form of some sort of aptitude test which would consistently randomize the questions in a timed window while keeping this test available to take only 1-2 times a month. Perhaps adding a requirement for total hours played in WvW would be helpful in deciding who is capable of achieving a General’s tag. The Scout tag should probably come fairly cheap, perhaps 40g or possibly even less.

I believe WvW would benefit from some sort of ACTUAL ranking system so that it’s not just a random group of people saying “this might be a good idea” or “we should do it this way”. At least with a few more tags out there those people who purchase them can somewhat be relied upon to know what they’re talking about. The seperate kinds of tags can also simplify the problem of trying to organize multiple groups. Those that want to move in small groups follow a scout, and those that want to run the karma train can follow a commander. Obviously this is a different beast down in the lower tiers where there just isn’t as many people, but this sort of ranking system with multiple types of tags should be able to produce better results from every demographic despite the number problems.

make a secondary list on the vendor to sell superior siege for both gold and badges at increased price tags, but keep the option to dump those skill points into seigemaster guides because otherwise we would all have 1000s of skill points which is no bueno imo.

I think they should make the Norn Transformations more like a second set of weapons and actually be funner, like a tool-kit style more then anything else.

This means you would still be able to use your 6-7-8-9 abilities, however your (elite) would be on toggle.

It wouldn’t be as damaging or powerful, but it would allow the norn to stay permamently changed if they wanted to. This would add flavor to the norns.

Racial abilities have been specifically toned down so that players aren’t pigeon-holed into specific races for their profession. In other words racial abilities are meant to be weaker than the abilities brought by choosing your profession. I will say however that Snow leopard is pretty strong for necromancers since it’s basically the only form of mobility available to necros, not to mention you can get 5sec of stealth off it too.

I have been wondering why thieves do this on any side. When I go down and the “Finish them!” option comes, all thieves must go invisible in order to do that option. Can someone tell me why? Seems kinda pointless.

They stealh stomp to avoid the cc that some downed states can apply, like ranger daze or warrior knockdown. Another reason is to try to avoid that players allies seeing them and trying to stop the stomp.

So to recap, they reduced the effectiveness of confusion because it ‘punished active play.’ They see no problem however, with punishing simple movement too?

Confusion was pretty ridiculous given how fast it could be stacked on multiple targets.

We still have no idea how much damage torment will do, if it will stack, or even if its single target or aoe.

Confusion got nerfed because it could hit for 2k+ on a single tick with less than 10 stacks of it on the enemy, the speed at which those stacks could be applied was irrelevant. Hopefully torment won’t be quite as powerful when it comes out as confusion was for so long.

Whatever anyone thinks, don’t bother joining the server if you don’t plan to stick around for a long time. Almost every free transfer we got transferred somewhere else in under 2 weeks. Last thing this server needs is more people like that.

If you’ve got the badges/gold for trebs, otherwise lay down a quick AC to spray the tops of the walls and ram it quick. Catas always take too long unless you outnumber them and can reliably defend those catas, or lay down 4+ if you have the extra blueprints I guess.

A good player can beat any other player. Thieves are easily predictable, just roll one and find out. The burst damage from D/D thieves is probably higher than it should be in some cases but you also should’t be running around WvW with low toughness/vitality either. Just do like all the less talented players do and spam your AoEs like your spreading a wild fire

Give ma an actual cow bell focus skin and then we can talk about giving gaurdians bows.

Ele is great for group healing and one of only 2 profs that can bring water fields, not to mention some of the best AoE in the game. You sound like you want to be able to be tanky as balls and still do great damage, which certainly isn’t going to happen on any profession. Arguably the tankiest class in the game right now, and just because you can’t go without 30 in arcane AND water doesn’t mean others can’t.

If you want tactical, then start your own guild and train them how to be “tactical”, otherwise just put up with all the zerglings….they aren’t going away anytime soon no matter what Anet does, so at least keep the mindless zerg players huddled up doing something remotely productive I suppose.

Same can be said of Vabbi and FoW on EU…..best way to fix it is to just move to a matchmaking system instead of the server vs server bit….which clearly isn’t working.

Autoattack has no cooldown and does pretty high dps when you consider our other skills on all the weapons. Why is it I see so many guardians not autoattacking except with maybe staff or scepter. Really now -_-. In duels a lot of guardians simply wait around doing absolutely nothing for their #2 skill on the hammer or greatsword…

You must be on a higher tier where individual skill has been forgotten about.

EDIT: since gw2 players are mostly oversensitive, this isn’t an insult, just an observation.

So thanks to the HoD matchup our forum sucks again. I think we all can agree that PAXA members are to thank for this as they can’t seem to keep their stuff in line. Before anyone has something to say to me, just know that I’m not gonna come back and read it so I’ll just leave you with this….

P.S. We should have fight night every night, stop setting a day of the week and just have it start at 8 est every night, so no one misses out completely.

Tanky profs like guard/ele/mesmer are probably what you’re looking for. Ranger can work too, they’re actually a really good profession for 1v1s and the like.

Problem is that even when we did get transfers and we actually had similar numbers to the servers we were fighting, it didn’t last long because those transfers left the server within a couple of weeks. Only way to fix the current WvW population issue is to just remove the server requirement and make it a full on matchmaking system where the matches only last 6 hours or so. This way people can play with their friends and no one should ever be so vastly outnumbered again. Its nice being able to fight for your server and all, but it just screws up the “fairness” when some servers just don’t have a very high wvw population, and no one WANTS to join the last place server/s so it’s not like those servers are going to get any help in the numbers department anyway.

Keep WvW as is but change it to a matchmaking system where you can funnel players into even matchups. Make it so commanders can reserve spots for their guild if they want or something like that, but as it is now WvW is going to stay just as broken as it has been this entire time.

Is there a way to tell which one is the real mesmer?

Clones stand still and so do most phantasms, the one constantly moving is the real one…..also easier to tell by looking for the one with buffs/signets under the health bar.
Mesmers like to stay out of range or behind you in 90% of occasions. I can kill most mesmers on my thief, but I run a P/D condi build, condis are great for dealing with most mesmers. I also like to fight fire with fire by using thieves guild and possibly the thief trap to confuse the mesmer as to which one to attack, its not going to confuse them too much, but constantly stealthing out will hopefully get them to accidently unload their clones/phantasms on your thieves instead of you.

There’s no such thing as verbal abuse…..society has become so soft and pathetic. -_-

Also there’s the exception of 1vX fights where I have to kill some players but I will kill everyone EXCEPT the last player so he can rez his mates). ENGAGE IN HONOR COMBAT WITH ME. ’TIS ALL I WANT.

This is why I’m always roaming in EB, I can never find anyone other than zergs in the other 3 maps. Only problem is that they never wanna fight you away from the seige or guards. I always laugh when I’m chasin someone down and as soon as they get to the guards they turn around and are all like “come at me bro! I’m ready for ya now!”

Seriously though folks, if you come across a roamer and you just can’t kill them, so you decide to run into the tower, then that’s fine, but don’t hop on the cannon/AC and start spamming abilities to try and kill them. All it shows is that you don’t belong in a PvP enviornment, just escape and then move on to regroup with your zerg. I especially hate it when I’m fighting someone and his idiot servermate hops on the cannon and starts spamming it on our fight…..have a little decency, some of us prefer roaming and dueling, if you don’t then just move on and go about your business.

All in all, I wanted some new servers to slaughter, but its nice havin some GoM and FC to farm in the meanwhile, good luck this week.
