Toughness scales directly proportional to Power from what I know. In fact I think the algorithm is a straight subtraction from their Power based on your toughness point for point.
It obviously doesn’t scale with crit dmg which is the problem.
Then you’d have a situation where Toughness is budgeted equal with Power on gear, but toughness scaled better. Suddenly everyone drops power/precision/crit% gear for power/toughness/[random stat] gear and WvW gets more flak for being too defensive.
Remember that your opponent is having to devote 3 stats (power/precision/crit damage) to get his power to scale better, so having that all negated by one would make gearing very one dimensional.

T1/T2, you can’t turn the corner without running into a 50-man zerg.
This is already the case for Mag/EB’s players that have the misfortune of playing while CD’s Asian blobs log on.
Attempting to recruit people for non-peak hours for your server is a mistake. If you succeed, you move up a tier, and then need to massively recruit for more players. If that succeeds, then you move up a tier, and need to massively recruit to get past that. It’s a fool’s errand to try and recruit and get to the next tier, because the cycle never ends unless you’re the new bandwagon server.
You have a solid competitive tier, so you should be happy and just chill.
A healthy amount of thieves (3-4) because abusing cluster bomb’s blast finisher is very good un outnumbered fights. Drop some fire fields and blast up before a fight, and you’ll be rolling in with 20+ stacks of might on your entire group. Two bunker Eth field loaded Mesmers in the thick of it to grab people’s attention and, again, abuse blast finishers so your entire group is rolling in Chaos Armor. The other 9 are up to you, but at least 2 d/d eles (blasting staff kind of weak now with EA killed), 2 pain in the kitten hammer warriors, 2 bubble guardians (still good even after the healing limit nerds, esp. vs large zergs). Optional 3 necros to roll around in plague form at the start of the fight, perma blinding your opposition for 20 seconds.
Organized teams can pull a lot of kitten.
I dare cd/ebay to 1v1. Heck even 2v1. They’re revelling in our depleted number matches. Our pve community backs out when we’re down in score, despite us giving them realm bonuses by never giving up. We do new things everyday. We all learn from each other. It’s hella fun, but zerg vs 1 guy is hilarious.
Let me guess, a D/D ele talking kitten and acting like they are great because they can faceroll their keyboard and win a 1v1, a 2v1, a 3v1, a 4v1 and a 5v1.
signed – someone who has a d/d ele and doesn’t challenge other people in a 2v1 in an attempt to prove “skill”
This is an ironic post because you’re showing how bad you are if you think d/d Ele is some sort of 1v1 god.
I am so darned inferior. I think Maguuma needs more skill so I stop feeling so inferior to Ehmry Bay.
Took a small break about 3-4 months ago; was wondering which servers stand as the top competitive servers currently?
Would appreciate a hasty and concise response as soon as possible. Thank you for your time.
This is rude talk and it is ruining my gameplay experience please stop ruining my gameplay experience, thankyou.

This is after the nerf to SM castle bringing it to +35 instead of +50.
If things continue like it has been this is going to be one of the most dominated wvw scores ever.
Just for the record whats the highest a team has ever scored in a wvw week?

Check tier 2 to see what you need to beat.
Having a lot of people certainly does work. I think other servers should attempt this strategy of tossing endless corpses at gates.
Burn does more damage than bleed, but bleed stacks in intensity when burn only duration. Bleed is better when there are multiple sources or someone that can apply a decent amount, but burn is usually better for people with no condition duration/damage because it does much better damage in its raw (no stats for it) form.
Confusion and poison are a little bit similar but slightly different as well. Confusion does quite a lot of damage in WvW assuming you can make them push buttons. It can potentially do zero damage if you just press escape because you’re under no pressure. Poison always does a decent amount of damage, and potentially some chunks if, again, you can apply it at a time they want to heal or you can pressure a heal.
So poison does decent to good damage, but confusion can do zero to amazing damage, depending on the circumstances. Burn does decent to good damage, but bleeds can do piddly to amazing damage, depending on circumstances. It all varies a lot based on your stats and your opponents stats/utilities/spec.
Maybe DH is suffering from having to read such long posts.
Glass cannon backstab thieves have exactly one way they’re going to be coming at you, and they’re very fragile once you survive it. Mesmer might be the best profession at surviving that one angle because of our huge amount of escapes.
Times like this I wish there was an easy dueling option, because trying a glass cannon backstab thief against a shatter mesmer would show you how few options that spec of thief has against you, and it relies on you being asleep at the wheel.
I dunno, backstab thieves are probably one of the easiest matches as a shatter mesmer. I fear conservative healy thieves a lot more, but those specs takes at least some effort on the part of the thief.
I agree that downed state is good in PvE and s/tPvP, but it would be better if it was removed in WvW. Speeding up defeated resurrection by a little (LITTLE) bit so it’s still possible to res in combat would be a good coinciding change so that pure defense didn’t become king.
It’s not fun that my biggest obstacle in winning a 1v4/5 is a game mechanic that favors the side with higher numbers to an impossible degree. If I do win vs 4/5 people, it’s because their biggest mistake was not sitting in a single spot slamming “f”. That’s not very interesting.
The potential thing that GW2 has going for it in the future is a moderately high (by MMO pvp standards) skill cap game that is still casual friendly. The downed state is hindering the skill cap thing, because it’s a hard limit on how well a coordinated small group can do against a much larger force. I don’t think it would hinder the casual friendly aspect, because with adjustments to the defeated resurrection mechanic, it would be almost no change if someone ran with the main zerg.
Because WvW is fun? You are seriously missing the point over and over. Points are not the end all game of WvW. Besetment.9187 explained it nicely, why don’t you go read his post again? Whether we win or lose, at the end of the day, it was fun.
You may only have fun in the structured ways the game has laid out for you. Having fun outside of that zone makes no sense. How do you know if you’re having fun if the game isn’t telling you?!
Here’s an idea – Maguuma will just have fun since that’s sort of what our server does and why it’s a draw for casual people. I’ve been in DH borderlands almost elusively, because that’s where I’ll find more targets.
Go with ele and don’t listen to people who say Mesmer. They don’t play Mesmers (I do), just read forums too much. Only go Mesmer if your guild has none for Portals. Otherwise Elementalist or Guardian.
I do play a Mesmer and I am suggesting a Mesmer. I mostly run solo or with 2-3 people and we’re a nightmare group of only Mesmers and Thieves. If you like working in a small group, I’ll say that Mesmer is probably the best caster suited for the task. Maybe you’re playing the profession wrong if you think they’re overrated.

Just got this bug again for the hundredth time. To echo others, this only started after halloween. I have multiple authentication steps for my email on top of Anet’s auth system, and have reset my password twice.
I can’t do the new dungeons and need to run all the way back in WvW when this happens, and it sucks. Please fix this bug.

I have the exact same problem, and like the OP said, it started happening about 3 weeks ago. The new fractal dungeon doesn’t allow you to rejoin your party when booted, so people with this bug can’t even do the new content.
Thanks for giving supporting arguments in your post.
Posting this in hopes DH can shame a hacker on their server. He’s been warping around the map with this golem and others a few times now. Yes, it’s largely ineffective that he’s porting around with a golem and for some reason attacking a supply camp, but still.
I know that not all DH hacks and this isn’t accusing you guys of that. Good match so far otherwise.
