Clearly the answer is that no one should play thieves in pvp. The stealthy/rogue archetype is always easy to hate on, no matter how powerful it actually is. For this reason game developers use it as a scapegoat for balancing, nerfing the class continuously in order to appease the “mindless masses”.

Just play a mesmer or warrior in pvp. Depending on which part of the thief playstyle you like the most either of those classes will fit fairly well.

It is quite difficult to find good dagger and pistol skins. I guess because they are so small compared to other weapons even if they look good you can barely see them. Daggers and pistols need more glowy type stuff to make them visible despite their small size.

Same here, on a regular 7200 RPM HD. Load times feel like they went from 10-15 seconds to 30+ seconds. The patch messed something up.

Completely agree with all of these posts. Quickness is the problem, not Pistol Whip.

I wouldn’t talk about this too much. Chances are instead of improving other ranged sets they will just nerf shortbow to be as bad as the rest of them :P

ArenaNet REALLY needs to just remove haste instead of destroying all the skills that synergize well with it. It’s ridiculous that they keep nerfing skills because they are too strong with haste, completely destroying those skills for people who don’t use haste with them.

Quickness is ruining this game’s pvp. Oh and I guess I should switch to using unload in pve now too since skills aren’t split between pve and pvp. Pistol whip is now useless since unload does almost the same damage now and is MUCH safer to land.

I run on a 6770 (actually a 5770 but they are the same card) with a triple core cpu clocked to 3.5 ghz. I run almost everything on high (I intentionally turned down some things I didn’t care about for performance) and I run pretty much everything at 30 fps minimum in big fights. Occasionally I dip down around 20 but that is rare. Running around without fighting I get 50-60.

The 6770 is definitely better than the 5570 and will dramatically increase your performance. Also, 50 bucks is a great deal for this card, I know because I have been looking for a cheap one to buy in order to crossfire with my 5770.

In short, buy it!

They’re using an exploit that I’ve, admittedly, proven works. You basically hit you’re cloak and dagger then steal ability, in that order, instantly. The result starts the CnD animation while putting you next to your opp. You instantly go stealth when CnD finishes, then you backstab for about 9k. Between those 2 hits, +Mug which hes likely specced for hitting for about 4, any health you have left over is minimal at best.

I have NO doubt ANet will fix this, as well as the Warrior equivalent bull rush+hasted hundred blades. Regardless of if that mechanic is ‘working as intended’ no character regardless of race, spec, or traits should 100-0 someone in 1 second flat. Period. And thats NOT an exaggeration. Trust me. I was doing it all day Sunday before I got disgusted with myself and went back to my condition build but I cant tell you how many /tells I got from haters and other thieves wanting to know how I did it…

This is a very common tactic in sPvP. Any instant cast skill will not interrupt previously started abilities. When I play with Sword/Pistol I often use steal in the middle of a pistol whip. Shadowstep also works for this as it is instant cast. So does scorpion wire. It’s one of the basic backbones to an effective pistol whip build.

You can also use steal in the middle of a stomp to get those pesky thieves and mesmers that teleport away. The downed teleport is instant as well, meaning it won’t interrupt your channeled heal skill when you use it.

This is why you are supposed to trade using the TRADING post. See look, the word trade is even in the name.

It should just switch whoever has the least amount of points on the team.

Hi Gaile. I was wondering if you could let me know how long we should expect to wait for a response in the middle of the ticket. I mean, if we get a response asking for information, and we give a response back, about how long will it take to get a response back after that?

Should we expect another 5 days or so and post here when it passes that time period?

Also, I was wondering if Sunday counts as a day or if the support team gets to take Sunday off.

Shadowstep is totally screwed up. I have wasted initiative and cooldowns I can’t even tell you how many times because shadowstep simply fails at the edge of a cliff or something.

As a thief my self I have to say that warriors can sometimes annoy the living crap out of me…

However I think the main problem right now is that almost every single game I join is full of thieves, warriors, and guardians. Every once in awhile there is a engi or ranger. That is it. Out of 12 people there will quite often be 1 ranger, 1 engi, 3 thieves, 3 warriors, and 3 guardians.

Power is damage and condition damage. Precision is critical chance. Vitality is health and healing power. Toughness is defense.

Which you need the most depends a lot on what type of build you are trying to create. I personally like to stay in melee most of the time, so I have my stats split between power, precision, and vitality, however I focus as much as I can on vitality. This makes it to where I can actually stay alive in melee range, and the healing power helps with the procs from Signet of Malice.

If you want a condition build you would want condition damage stuff and power, but precision would be less important. For a ranged build vitality and toughness would lower in importance. Etc.

There is a lot to take into account and it all depends on your build.

If there’s any way this process can be expedited I would appreciate it. I bought my wife a brand new gaming pc for her birthday to play this game, and she can’t even play it today (which is her birthday). At this point I think it might be easier to just buy a new copy of the game and ask for a refund for the copy that is having the account issues, but I don’t want to mess anything up.
