Make Camps harder to take.

Well, being easy to take goes both ways because it’s easy to get it back too. The only issue is the fact that if it’s upgraded, it would be a bit of a loss but remember that it doesn’t take very long to upgrade supply camps. Just 4 minutes to increase supply deliveries which is by far the most important. They probably need a supply camp defense reward. Other than that, I don’t really see anything wrong with them. It makes sense that something only worth 5 points doesn’t give you much time to go back and save. In fact, this is what roaming groups are for (both defending and taking these camps).

By the way, just 10 people can take down an unupgraded gate of a tower in 49 seconds and then 30 seconds later to get to the lord, take it down, and cap. The tower doesn’t even contest until 30 seconds after the gate is tapped and that’s not enough time to waypoint and save it for just about any tower. I don’t think that something like a supply camp that’s only worth 5 seconds should be so hard to take that people can just wait to see contested swords and waypoint to save it. Especially when that can’t even be done with towers.

Supply camps are only worth 5 points, though so I think they should not be made any harder to take or else the degree of difficulty won’t match up to the reward. Towers are worth double the points and you can already take down the gate/wall even faster than ever with fewer people.

5 people building 1 superior ram with R3 mastery: 1min 38 seconds on gate

2 people building guild catapult (with one person who had 15 supply): 2 mins 9 seconds to take down wall with R4 mastery

1 person building an alpha at nearest supply camp and walking it over to the tower with traveler’s runes: 2 min 39 seconds to take down gate.

1 person trebbing the tower’s wall from another tower or keep: 5 min 21 seconds

These are all for unupgraded but still, very easy to take towers which are double the points of camps so yeah I don’t see camps being needed to be harder to take unless they make towers harder to take too but then they’d have to adjust the keep and SM difficulty to take to keep it balanced.

Supply camp solo professions

It takes roughly 28 seconds to solo cap a supply camp but ignoring that capture time, can any professions other than warrior and thief solo a supply camp in under 1 minute?

I can get them all down in 35 seconds on thief with S/P zerker and 45 seconds on warrior with LB+S/WH Dire. I assume it has to be a profession/build that can take all of the npc’s at once and run around the corner to ball them up and then use some sort of AoE. At least that’s how I’ve done it on warrior and thief. Not sure if other professions can do it. I tried it on necro with PTV and wells with staff but it took too long.

Two thieves. Each can solo a supply camp in 35 seconds (excluding capture time) and you can coordinate the pull together to speed it up even more. Also the fastest moving profession in the game and can stealth to always get away. Your group is only as fast as your slowest person which is why I like two thieves over thief and something else (though warrior is a close second in movement speed). When bored or in a BL with little resistance, it’s fun to walk a golem to a tower or keep. I have travelers runes so I can build it at the supply camp and walk it over. I also have R4 catapult mastery which means 2 mins to take down a wall so we can flash build a guild catapult at a keep or tower if just one of us previously picked up +5 supply from one of our structures at our home BL. If we are hitting east or west keep, I can just place the catapult such that it can take down both the outer and inner from its spot (doesn’t start hitting inner until outer is already down of course).

You would need to test with a buddy to see if there is still a queue when you are already loaded into a map that is outnumbered. I’ve had a lot of times where I finally get my queue and it’s outnumbered but it’s always from a zerg porting out.

Doing wvw should be best way to gear for wvw?

I got all of my WvW gear from WvW. It was a combination of karma and badges of honor which I got from WvW. As a result, I’ve got 6 level 80 characters (some of which have multiple armor sets) that got all of their gear from WvW. However, it’s all exotic gear. I don’t really see ascended gear as worth it for WvW given how long it takes to get but hey it’s just me. If you choose the grind route and want ascended, it makes sense that WvW is not the fastest way to get it since PvE in general is more for money making grinders anyway.

Actually selfishness is good for commanding large groups, bad for small groups. When you are the most important person and in a group of 60, it’s necessary to be selfish. Getting ahead of the zerg is mandatory for situations when you are trying to save something. Then, in general when taking stuff, just move normally with the zerg to minimize the tail and then use your speed ups when you are 90% of the way there so that you can quickly scan the tower/keep to determine your siege placement by the time your team has arrived. Or if you know that the enemy server is outnumbered and not going to save what you’re hitting, you can afford to get ahead of the zerg since your tail isn’t as big of a concern if there’s little resistance anyway.

Hammer is much better in zerg vs zerg. Greatsword is kinda meh in combat because the 100 blades which is op in pve just isn’t the same against players. The adrenaline skill of hammer is much better too. Therefore, hammer is much more useful to your team in both large and small scale combat.

However, I never use hammer when commanding and don’t recommend it. Greatsword is much better for commanding. This goes with my above post about needing survivability and movement speed in large groups rather than trying to run a build that will do more damage to the enemy team. If you are decided and set on using hammer, just throw a greatsword in your inventory for the movement skills and then swap to the hammer right before combat. In fact, this is what I would do if I wasn’t commanding. But when I command, I’ll always keep the greatsword in, even when in combat. This is because if the zerg vs zerg battle is a losing effort, then you need the greatsword movement skills to get away. If most of your team is dead after the zerg vs zerg, you might just waypoint anyway but if a good number are able to escape…then that is a situation where you need the greatsword to get away with your team. It’s also easier to survive longer in a zerg vs zerg if you have the greatsword skills 3 and 5 to run yourself out of AoE.

Now, if you are commanding an extremely small group such that your contribution has a large impact on whether or not your group wins the battle, bring out the hammer. Any big group where your damage/support doesn’t really influence the outcome at all, you need the greatsword for survival because a dead commander is a useless commander.

Warrior or Guardian for Commanding

Radian.2478

Well, you’re in luck. I have two characters I command on and one is Warrior and the other is Guardian.

Warrior is overwhelmingly the best commanding profession in the game. Guardian would likely be number 2. In fact, the only reason I sometimes command on my Guardian is because it has a different name and I can just do whatever I want. As a commander, you need high survivability and fast movement speed. Warrior has far better movement speed than Guardian with GS + S/WH. Movement speed is important because sometimes you will need to rush to save a structure and hold the circle. It’s also better to be able to get to the tower or keep a little early to be able to check for siege and gate/wall hp and to have time to place siege for when your team arrives. The only problem with Warrior is that in Zerg vs Zerg, you get poop loot and don’t really do much to benefit your team. Guardian with staff skill 1 is going to give you about as good loot as anything. If you are commanding a zerg of 40+, then it’s way more important to just survive than to actually have useful damage or support. If your group is smaller, then your contribution in damage and team support is more important, which is one way that Guardian is better than Warrior. Alternatively, if you are absorbing a lot of damage on Warrior in zerg vs zerg, that is just as helpful too but you would have to do so without dying. Warrior also has far better self survival than Guardian which is probably against common belief. This is because of movement speed, higher health pool, higher armor rating, dual endure pain, insane condi removal, and shield blocking etc. My warrior also has something like 700hp gain per second from healing signet and that one trait which is extremely important because as a commander you sit on siege a lot and don’t want to be dying on siege. You have to remember that most of Guardian’s defense is team support which is great in small groups but in large groups as a commander, it’s not your job to give your team support heals. This is because that as a commander, it’s extremely important that you don’t die. Surviving can allow you to pull out of a losing zerg v zerg fight and regrouping without having to waypoint. It also allows you to direct your team in the zerg v zerg fight longer and have more opportunities to place siege.

So it does depend on the size of the group you intend to command but I’d strongly suggest Warrior. And for Warrior as you asked above, you use Melandru’s runes.

For Warrior I run something like this:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIMQNAR8ejkOtwxQOPMxBE0DN8K2CTheI9QMQj0A-jEyAorITMCE5AO7VEN2yYR0Y1LY6SioaPeR0qjBgJ-w

I now use that Quick Breathing Warhorn trait and sometimes swap out my shield for warhorn depending on the situation.

Is shorter matches the answer?

in WvW

Posted by: Radian.2478

Radian.2478

I am very strongly for reduced duration of WvW matches. Not necessarily reduced duration of all matches but maybe have a random number generator for the duration of the matches between 1-7 days. Anything that will make the average match ups closer is always good in my opinion (this is what I believe was the downfall of season 1). It would add to the excitement and suspense too. There’s nothing more boring than seeing a server already mathematically stuck in first place on late Wednesday/early Thursday.

Looks like a good idea but I’m not exactly sure about the idea of 56 hour match ups. I’ve been an extremely strong believer in having matchups of any duration of hours divisible by 24. It’s so that it’s fair to each server getting equal amount of participation in each of the time zones. Alternatively, this unfair advantage could cause some servers to beat servers they wouldn’t otherwise beat which might be good to see change of victories.

Poll: Is Season 1 a disappointment?

in WvW

Posted by: Radian.2478

Radian.2478

Failure.

I’ve been playing WvW every day but immediately quit when the season started. I’ll get back to WvW now that the season is done. My server got face rolled every week and got last place every single time. We hardly captured anything which is why I didn’t play.

Some of you probably think my opinion is invalid because I didn’t even play but let’s think about this for a second and ignore my situation completely and just think about the leagues in general for the average player. The average margin for victory during the season was much bigger because of the wide range of rankings/servers that people played during the tournament. When the matches are less competitive, it’s just not as fun for either side-even the winning side. I’ve been in matches where my server steam rolls lower ranked servers and that’s not fun either.

I think the seasons would be more interesting and more successful if something could be done to make match up have closer scores so that your server isn’t mathematically stuck stuck in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd on Wednesday. Getting into WvW and not knowing which place your server will finish would make it more exciting. They already have the format with 3 teams to promote this (idea of 2nd and 3rd place teams teaming up against the 1st) but it’s not really done too much. With these match ups in the season it was even quicker to see which server was going to win each match up and it really takes the fun out of it. It was also disappointing to see that in my servers match ups, 85% of the time one server held 75% or more of the stuff capped.

Your change in WvW playing after WXP update?

Radian.2478

Just wondering what everyone else’s plans are for what they’ll do different in WvW when the account bound WXP update takes effect.

I’ve been only playing my warrior because it’s my commanding profession and so I needed WXP on that character more than any others. But now I’ll have three different things I want to do in WvW and probably one character for each role.

I’ll probably continue to use my warrior when WXP farming in karma trains on the 3 borderlands with max survivability and foot speed.

For eternal battlegrounds, I am looking into a specific profession/character for good loot in large zerg vs zerg but still good survivability in that I don’t die much when trying to cap stuff. For that I’m looking into PTV thief with Shortbow for AoE skills and Dagger Storm for one massive AoE. I am also considering PTV Guardian for this role where I have staff skill 1 and that elite offensive tome skill which also gives insane loot when spamming skill one. Or, lastly for this role, I’m also looking into CTV Necromancer where I’d run S/D + Staff for tons of AoE and then some wells on my utilities. I’ve already tested all and they’re all pretty amazing so I may just mix it up and play a little of each to have fun.

I’ll use my S/D 35 second supply camp solo build for roaming but only during dead hours when there’s not really any much other action for me to get into.

So that pretty well sums it up…I’ll basically have three different roles: karma training BL’s, loot/badge farming Eternal Battlegrounds, and roaming during dead hours.

What about you guys?

Best NA WxP server for league?

in WvW

Posted by: Radian.2478

Radian.2478

Well, after next week is over, my server is going to get face rolled until the WvW season is over and it’s not even going to be close. I want to get more WxP for my character that I command on to buy more of the ranks so I would like to know which server you guys think is a good server, given the league match ups, for getting the most WxP. I don’t need money or karma, just WxP (which typically comes with WxP anyway I guess). I am thinking either the top one or two servers in the silver or bronze league. I don’t play for a lot of consecutive hours, it’s mostly just an hour a day or so which means I can’t be waiting on queues. I am leaning towards transferring to the bronze league but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to generate many numbers there. However, there would be less enemies in the opposition to make up for this. I am actually pretty effective at karma training even with small groups because I can just drop a superior ram and get on it with my T3 ram mastery or drop two superior rams as the group gets bigger. I also have traveler runes which allows me to take undefended keeps with small groups pretty quick when I just build a golem at the nearest supply camp. What server do you guys recommend?

People like this are a large part of the problem with WvW. This is sad.

Nope, I just play WvW for fun.

Looking for WvW advice.

If you want a good build for karma training, or for at least having the best survivability and defense so that you can be the last one dead/escape in losing zerg v zerg fights as well as having the best set up for getting to and staying in capture circles in defended keeps/towers, I would run this:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIMQNBjYDbk0pFOGy4hJOggeohfxWYK0DpHnxAyGA-j0xAoLIiBU2rIaslxioxqXw0lER1e8ioVHDATA-w

Longbow is for zerg vs zerg so you are tagging more people. You can swap the longbow out for a greatsword when not in zerg vs zerg confrontation so that you move faster. You can also swap out the warhorn for a shield in situations where you are about to take a lot of arrowcart fire. This build has 30k hp, ridiculous toughness, 700 hp per second from healing sig and the adrenaline trait, two endure pains, a shield blocking skill when you pop it in, 4 condi removals on warhorn skill 4, another on skill 5 (because of trait), stability, perma swiftness, and second fastest build/profession in the game (behind some thief builds).

I have been running this build for maybe 5 or so months now when zerging and I’ve gone as long as 20 hours (across 4 days) or so without dying when we have had our zerg wipe multiple times. It’s also an easy build that doesn’t punish you for making mistakes so it is great for a new player.

It’s laughable that the description of ballista says that it’s for taking out siege but when attacking a tower/keep that has well placed arrow carts, you can’t hit them with a ballista because it requires line of sight so you end up having to build a counter arrowcart or putting an omega.

in WvW

Posted by: Radian.2478

Ballista is pretty bad. There are uses for it and situations where it’s needed but how often you need a ballista vs how often other siege is needed really makes ballista worse than the others, even if it is not totally useless.

Good commanders and how to become one?

in WvW

Posted by: Radian.2478

Radian.2478

As a commander you need defense and survivability. Damage is not important for you. Start commanding in Eternal Battlegrounds first or if your own BL is not being held, go there too. Command at times when there’s people on but no one commanding. This is a situation where if you mess up, it doesn’t harm your server as much because they don’t have a commander without you anyway. Commanding on Friday where you are mathematically stuck in your position is good too because people don’t care as much if you mess up. Make sure you have T3 ram mastery and then you can drop one superior ram and man it to take down a gate in 1 min 40 sec while your group is small and still needing to build up more players. Avoid the enemy zergs if they are bigger than you but fight them if they are close or smaller in size. Drain enemy supply when you don’t intend to hold what you cap. Be more willing to defend upgraded stuff than unupgraded stuff.

Warrior, in my mind, is the best profession by far for getting the WvW achievements. Just go GS S/WH with PTV and a defensive set up and hop in a zerg. It’s the best profession for getting to the capture circle and surviving through the capture. It’s the number one profession in the game for fastest WXP when zerging as a result also.

Thief in full solder gear and with dagger/pistol+short bow will tag more and move faster for zerg tagging, and with stealth will never die if zerg get wiped :P

It’s still not going to give better WXP overall, though.

Best WXP has and always will be Karma Trains. Nothing else compares…………..

Yes exactly and warrior is the number one profession for getting WXP through karma trains hands down. Second fastest profession, 33k hp, 3.8k toughness, 6 condi removals, 3 invulnerabilities, stabilities, and 700 hp per second through heal sig + trait. This means it is the best profession for getting to the capture circle when taking defended stuff and staying alive in the cap circle.

Thief/Engi or Necro

in WvW

Posted by: Radian.2478

Radian.2478

I would go thief. Thief has always been the #1 roaming class. Whether in groups or solo, you can move fast, deal tons of damage, and then almost always get away if you are about to die because of shadow refuge plus the quickest moving profession in the game. With S/P run zerker and you can take out all of the npc’s in a supply camp in 30 seconds just by pulling all of them and running around the corner and using skill 5, 1, 3, and dagger storm. If you want to hit a sentry or yak, just swap to D/P.

Then for zerging, you can just have a second armor set that is full PTV and run SB plus D/P and you can tag a ton of stuff in zerg v zerg with SB and dagger storm (almost as much as necro can tag). With the fastest moving profession, you won’t have much trouble catching up/staying with the zerg or getting to the capture point in time. You can also get away when losing a zerg v zerg battle because you are the fastest moving profession and have stealth.

Warrior has way more health and toughness though as well as invulnerabilities and more condition removal. Stealth will help a bit but not enough to make up for this because in large zergs, they can just flood AoE. The thief also can’t take siege damage for as long of a time when entering heavily sieged up keeps. Thief is way better at tagging if you want more loot, though. It’s still not going to give better WXP overall, though.

Defending is terribly boring, especially after the Ram Mastery making it tougher to defend than ever. I’m not willing to camp in a keep and wait for people to come after it but if I am near a keep that is being hit already, I’ll jump in it. Bottom line is, I play WvW for fun. Not only is defending extremely boring, it gives way less rewards. Upgrading stuff and patrolling for hours is also incredibly boring. Plus, in enemy borderlands it’s typically better to just drain their stuff instead of trying to defend it depending on the numbers you have and whether or not it looks possible for you to hold it.

You could also complain that people aren’t willing to escort dolyaks often enough. That is one of the most boring things ever and I do not believe in escorting a dolyak even if it’s helpful to my server.

I play the game for fun and it is much more fun to try to cap stuff than to try to defend stuff. Doesn’t matter to me if it’s worse for my server as long as it’s not overwhelmingly bad to the point I’m screwing over my server. If you are trying to help your server by doing all of these things but not having fun then you are wasting your time IMO. It’s a game and you should enjoy it.

Defending is very fun in T1 NA. When you wipe enemy blob over and over again.

Welp, my server isn’t T1. But if you are having fun then there’s nothing wrong. I just don’t agree with someone criticizing other players who are just trying to enjoy WvW.

War or Guard

in WvW

Posted by: Radian.2478

Radian.2478

I guess it depends on what you want. Guardian is going to get you way more loot with staff skill 1 and the offensive tome. It will also give more team support. Warrior typically gives poop loot (compared to most professions) but it has considerably more surivability and WAY more speed than guardian. Warrior is going to give more WXP and karma because it’s speed will help you get to the capture circles in towers/keeps faster and it’s better survivability will make it more likely for you to stay alive when getting to the capture circle. I have done WvW on both guardian and warrior and use PTV on both. I find it 3-4 times easier to survive on warrior than guardian despite most people probably wouldn’t agree. The quick speed of warrior allows you to get out of a losing zerg fight. My warrior also has 13k more hp than my guardian (33k) and maybe 700 or so more toughness (3.8k). My warrior also has two endure pains and the 3 second shield blocking skill to go along with 6 or so condition removals and 700 hp per second permanent natural health regen so I love my warrior a lot more than my guardian.

Also, I like that on warrior I can catch up to the zerg quick if I just WP’d in to the BL. On guardian it takes more time and if just 1 enemy player attacks me while I’m trying to get back to my train, I’m dead. I’m way too slow on guardian to get away and definitely have no 1v1 build whereas on warrior I can just keep running. I have ran right through a zerg of 50 a few times (it does take them to mess up a little bit to pull it of).

I did WvW on my necro from level 20 to 80 and didn’t have any problems with my level. Just run defensive gear so that when you are karma training, you have a better shot at getting to the cap circle without dying. If you want to level up by roaming with small groups (5 times slower exp), then yea your lower level will make a bit of a difference.

Cleric’s Armor deals damage huh? I’ll have to try my own build someday

I did see Lyssa runes on that build, though.

Looking for Guardian WvW commander advice

I’m new to guardian but not new to commanding and I came up with this:

Any suggestions?

Yak’s Bend once lost to Crystal Desert by exactly one tick but the first place server (Maguuma) was far out in front and in fact helped Crystal Desert pass Yak’s Bend. Yak’s were basically in second the entire time until both Maguuma and Crystal Desert started going after Yak’s Bend stuff and Crystal Desert passed Yak’s Bend with the very last tick that occurred before reset.

Curious that you would say that and then provide a build with Soldier gear rather than Sentinel. Any reason for that? Costs?

Yes. The sentinel’s gear is over 500 gold or so and you can’t place buy offers and expect to get it because people update buy offers every hour to over-cut people. I bought the chest piece and the leg piece but the rest is far from worth it for me.

Red Falcon is right.

There’s been countless times with my build where I’ve ran right through a zerg of 50 (from one end to the other). Endure pain + balanced stance + WH skills to remove conditions + GS leaps and stuff. It does take a little help from the enemy messing up but I’ve done it many times and it doesn’t take too much. It’s faster moving than any build except for a heartseaker thief and usually the zerg won’t chase one person for an extended period of time but even then this build can usually get away even when the zerg still chases.

I’ve gone days without dying in WvW with my commander build and have had many zerg vs zerg confrontations throughout the time but I escape every time that our team wipes too. Siege doesn’t kill me either because I have triple invulnerability plus stability.

I command with something like this:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIMQNAR8ejkOtwxQGPMxBE0DN8K2CTheI9QMGQ2A-jEyAorITMCE5AO7VEN2yYR0Y1LY6SioaPeR0qjBgJ-w

There’s no reason to take a Longbow or Rifle if you are only concerned about defense. GS + S/WH is the fastest set up for warrior so I typically use that and I will swap my WH to a shield before a confrontation usually but it depends on the situation. There’s pretty much no way that conditions can get to you with this build and you have tons of health regeneration and defense when sitting on siege. PTV gear and melandru’s runes are mandatory. This build is terrific for commanding because it moves quick and has tons of survivability. It’s also good for karma trains because you are pretty close to the best build in the game for getting to the capture circle quickly without dying. It’s give poop loot but you asked for a survivability build. If you want better loot but worse survivability, swap to LB and just tag stuff.

I guess it depends on if you are trying to karma train BL’s or zerg bust in EBG. It’s definitely too slow. Speed helps in trains because almost everyone takes speed boosts and you need to be able to keep up with the train or else you won’t be able to kill anything and won’t be able to get to the capture circle to get credit for towers/keeps. I run GS and S/WH when running in a zerg (perma swiftness + 3 skills that move my character forward) and then swap to LB when in combat. Stability is definitely mandatory because you will get CC’d a lot in zerg fights and when you are trying to take a tower/keep that is sieged up, you have to be able to get through when the gate goes down and you are under heavy siege fire. You also need an invulnerability for this scenario too so I’d take endure pain as well, it’s extremely good. I would drop the traveler’s runes and take superior melandru’s runes then put in Warrior’s Sprint. Actually I would also take a GS but you don’t have to use it while in combat, just put it on while out of combat and skill 3 and 5 will help you stay with the zerg. Then swap the GS back out right before you are about to enter combat. I’d also go for 30 defense and you can take a second endure pain for tower/keep captures or when you are about to fight another zerg you can switch it to the retaliation trait.

How much health does a supply caravan have?

in WvW

Posted by: Radian.2478

Radian.2478

Just record yourself taking out a supply caravan solo and when it gets very low on hp, switch to a low level weapon to get the last few hits in to get a better estimate. Remember that the last hit is going to overkill the dolyak and you can’t see how much you overkill it by which is why you would switch to a lower level weapon when it’s low on hp.

WXP Ability Points for casual WvW'er?

It depends on what you like to do in WvW. If you like to roam then you can go for Guard Killer and Defense Against Guards. If you like to just follow commanders and join trains then I’d go in this order:

R4 supply mastery
R4 build mastery
R3 flame ram mastery
R1 catapult mastery
R2 repair mastery
R2 AC mastery
R1 treb mastery
R4 AC mastery
R4 catapult mastery

While that looks like a lot of stuff to go for, it’s actually quite a bit less WXP in total than maxing Guard Killer and Defense Against Guards.

Guardian vs Warrior for leading a zerg

in WvW

Posted by: Radian.2478

Radian.2478

As a commander you need two things:

1) Tons of defense and survivability
2) Movement speed

For this reason, I’d go warrior. Warrior is way faster than guardian, it’s not even close in the movement speed department.

Remember, a dead commander is a useless commander. While support skills for your allies as well as CC for the enemy are both extremely important, you don’t need them as a commander because you cannot afford to take away from your own defense or your movement speed. Both professions would be very good for removing conditions, armor, and self heals (team heals are important but not for the commander). Remember, you need a selfish build! The reason why you need tons of defense for YOURSELF is because if you go down, you can’t command the train to follow you or set up siege. If you have to waypoint after a death, then much of your team will likely waypoint, even if it would have been better for them to stay. You need movement speed to go from area to area quick and be able to get the siege up in time. Also, if one of your towers/keeps is getting hit by a zerg and you need to save it, warrior has much better speed and will be able to get to the circle quicker if the lord goes down whereas guardian has poop speed. Warrior has good defense too (just like guardian) because it can have double endure pain (utility + trait) as well as the shield skill that blocks incoming attacks and a warbanner you can equip to ressurect the champion lord if you are rushing back to hold the circle.

I’m not trying to say that guardian is bad for commander, I’m just saying warrior is better. Guardian would likely be the second best commanding profession.

Best for Roaming?

Radian.2478

For solo roaming I’d undoubtedly go thief. The thief can kill every npc in a supply camp in 35 seconds and even under 30 once you get more practice. I don’t see any other profession coming even close to that. It is also the fastest moving profession in the game if you have long range steal, heartseeker spam, shadowstep, signet of shadows and others. This means you can run away from anything (combined with shadow refuge), get from supply camp to supply camp quickly, and even catch up to your zerg if they are far away and just about to cap something. You can run S/P for taking a supply camp while swapping to D/P when running from supply camp to supply camp (heart seeker spam) as well as 1v1’ing random people or dolyaks/sentries. When you get to the zerg just pop in a SB for the AoE and make sure you have dagger storm too which both give very good loot.

Here’s a video of me roaming on thief with my build:

Well, I know one superior ram can ram through one superior AC. With two AC you can maybe get away with two superior rams if you are fast and have tanks but other than that yea can’t ram.

Cymric,

That is interesting. I got my data from recording myself hitting the gate of SE tower solo on golem. I then tested on a ram with NE tower and got the same result. I can test on the gate you are referring to (West Keep north outer?) still, and see if there’s a difference. Thank you for the golem info, I didn’t know that. The numbers for the golem info then is from full exotic PTV gear.

Paavotar,

Yes, the rams with ram mastery are unbelievably OP. You can command and as long as you have 4 others following you, you can just place a superior ram and drop the gate in 1 min 35 seconds or so. The catapults get quite good too with r4 mastery(17.3k dmg to basic wall with superiors). The trebs are actually better than what they get credit for but they’re just very boring which is the reason why I (and probably most people) don’t use them.

I calculated the gate/wall HP for basic, reinforced, and fortified (only wall can be fortified) and the DPS that the siege does to each as well as the time it takes to take the gates/walls down.

http://www.youtube.com/edit?video_id=TwAJB_M2HgU&o=U&ns=1

I did all of these calculations by myself. If you have any additional questions after watching the video and reading the description, leave a comment on the video or here to discuss with me/others.

Alternatively, if you see any other uses for this not mentioned in the video, feel free to share your opinions and things you see. I did not mention in the video but this information can also be used on defense to give you an idea of how long until the gate/wall goes down, given what siege the enemy is using.

Thief WvW solo camp build

Hi, Serophous.

Coincidentally, I posted a video of thief S/P supply camp solo to youtube today. I don’t actually solo supply camps often and I rarely play thief so I am bad at both thief and supply camps. However, I would like to provide you with the video (which includes the build) incase it helps. Given how bad I am and that I was still able to solo kill everything in 35 seconds easily, this build takes zero skill which is very good if you happen to be a bad player like me.

seeking WvW roaming build advice

Radian.2478

Hi all,

I am trying to make a warrior build that is efficient for roaming in groups: taking out supply camps and being able to engage in a small scale fight amongst enemies trying to repel our attack. Less importantly, I’d like for the build to also be able to solo a supply camp if needed. My primary intention for wanting a roaming build is to farm WXP when there are no trains going (dead hours). I have some builds I like to use already for trains but am new to roaming.

I have a few build ideas and am seeking advice:

S/S LB condi spec

http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNAscTnkOk8YUQOPwEhAALwUYoLjkWK9gM0SD-j0xA4MBRahgYKsIasl2ioxqZw0oER1ekioVHFAEB-w

Greatsword Sword/Warhorn Berserker spec

In the event that both builds are terrible, any recommendations for what you guys use? I’m also considering taking my zerker spec build and putting in PTV gear and giving the adrenal health regen trait over the +15% crit hit chance.
