Has this at least happened to anyone else or is it just me? It happened to me in 4 out of 5 attempts today so I think I quit character swapping. I believe the game somehow still thinks I’m in the dungeon when I’m not.
Some reasons I thought could cause this that turned out to not be true:
-being the first to trigger the boss cut scene
-character swapping after dying
-leaving a banner before character swapping
But it turns out none of these are the cause. I’ve even had it where people character swapped at the same time as me and got in. I’ve never seen it happen to anyone else. It only recently started happening to me and didn’t happen once the first 20 attempts or so.
Sometimes when I want to character swap at the end of a dungeon to get the reward on my other character, it doesn’t let me in the dungeon saying that it’s full. This has happened to me multiple times in CoF P1 when swapping when the boss is at 10%. Does anyone know why it sometimes says this and how to get around this glitch?
When trying to switch characters in a dungeon, I sometimes get an error message and it doesn’t let me back in the dungeon. “The world you are attempting to join is full. Please try to have your party member join you in your world. (Code=33:9:18:1800:101)” The only dungeon I have tried is CoF P1 and I am sometimes getting this error message when trying to character swap in the middle of the dungeon. Anyone know what is the cause of it? Usually when I do the dungeon, it is with people from different servers but I have even had an instance where someone else character swapped at the same time as me and he got back in and I didn’t.
I just tried swapping characters today and still got the full 60 after character swap so it worked fine. Getting 30 tokens must be some sort of glitch but it didn’t happen to me.
Steve,
Joe doesn’t have to be reinvited to the party. When you log out or switch characters, you are still in the same party. Basically, use Bob to do the entire dungeon up until the boss. Use Bob for the boss fight and then when the boss is at about 10%, switch to Joe. When you log into Joe, travel to Fireheart Rise (the map for CoF) though you should just instead have logged out on Joe previously in Fireheart rise so that you don’t have to map travel to it. When Joe loads up into Fireheart Rise, a message will prompt on your screen asking if you want to join the dungeon. Join the dungeon before your team gets the reward and you will be rewarded too. If your team knows that you are going to swap characters, they should hopefully wait until you spawn into the map before killing the boss or else you don’t get credit.
Remember, unlike GW 1, anyone in the party (excluding the person who opened the dungeon) can leave or enter the dungeon at any time and still pick up where the team is and get credit from that point on. If you are the one who opened the instance and you log out to switch characters, you kick your whole team out. Joe doesn’t even have to travel to the boss, he just has to load into the dungeon and doesn’t even have to do anything (which is why people do this with low levels too).

Wow that was an incredibly clear explanation, lol. For your earlier post, though: When you mentioned a 30 minute wait for DR to wear off: does that just mean that if you complete the dungeon and get 20 tokens, you will get DR if you complete the dungeon (getting the reward) again in less than 30 minutes since you picked up the first reward? For example, say I beat the dungeon and get 20 tokens. I may choose to wait 20 minutes and then enter it and take 12 minutes to beat it (32 minutes since previous completion). So in this case there is no DR right?
Thanks for your response. So this means that waiting an hour before doing a dungeon again on the same character that I already got 60+20 tokens on won’t give me the 60 tokens again? How does this work for the exp and silver reward?
I have read on GW 2 Wiki that diminishing returns for dungeons is account based, not character based. However, a lot of people in dungeons I hear will do a dungeon twice on a character and then switch to another. Can someone describe how this works? It seems to contradict what I read on the internet.
Thanks for the help guys, will buy the orrian boxes. How do you suggest I turn skill points to gold? I am not going for a legendary or anything.
Hi all. I have a few level 80 characters now and it turns out I don’t want to use two of them now. In what ways can I spend their skill points and karma to get gold? I know the skill points work on mystic forge but I know nothing about it or which recipes would be one of the more proffitable for gold. Would I just spend karma on rares and salvage them? How exactly does salvaging a rare work?
For some scenarios when trying to take a keep or tower, I can’t make it to the circle to capture in time that it is capped. This could be for multiple reasons such as dying to an enemy zerg while in the base or just way pointing in so not being entirely caught up with our own zerg.
What things can I do to try to get contribution for taking a tower/keep if it turns out I won’t be able to get in the circle to cap? Does attacking the gate give contribution? Does killing npc’s or enemy players help give contribution? Or do I just have to do damage to them but not necessarily kill? Also, does being dead or in the down state at the time in which the team caps (while not in the circle) the place affect whether or not I get contribution? Sorry for the excess questions lol but if anyone has insight on any of these, any help is appreciated.
Thanks. Can you describe how often you are able to repeat these with the Diminishing Returns system? I can kind of understand why some people would not accept low levels though it’s kind of silly for the game to be in such a state where someone who is high enough level for a dungeon wouldn’t be desired unless they are over-leveled.
I can craft my characters to around level 34 for cheap but then it starts to get too expensive so I’m thinking of just repeating dungeons on them to get them from 34 or so to 80. Is this a good idea? I’ve already done the entire story twice and don’t have any interest in doing it again. What are the pros and cons of this idea? If it’s a good idea, could someone explain the sequence of dungeons they would do? I know I can’t just repeat the same dungeon because of diminishing returns but I am still trying to learn more about how that works.
Ah ok and for tagging to get exp and loot in zerg vs zerg do I have to hit multiple times or does one hit suffice?
Thanks for responses. Does retaliation work for tagging in zerg vs zerg? For example, I could try Guardian with Tome of Wrath and the trait to make it last 30 seconds which would give me 30 seconds of retaliation. Then I could spam out skill 1 for constant AoE.
What profession(s) are good for badge farming when a zerg is going against another zerg? Is it true that the necromancer wells can tag more than 5 people?
Thanks for help everyone! I will try guardian! I will also check out the link, thanks.
Thanks for your response. Additional responses are welcome but I would also like to additionally ask if one typically takes less skill than the other because I’m a bad player xD

Hi all. I have recently just made a guardian and a mesmer and enjoy both. I want to pick just one profession to get a decent fractals level on that gives me a good chance to get groups. Is one better than the other for getting groups? I ask this trying to take into account how good the profession is in the dungeon but also the supply and demand of the profession. For example, one question to ask is: if a group already has a guardian, would they be less willing to take me as a guardian than a group that already has a mesmer trying to take me as a mesmer? Thanks!
Hi all. I have just got level 80 and trying to make some better builds for my warrior. Here are 3 builds I made:
^ I just did my first fractals yesterday and need advice for a build to use there or advice for what I have already made. I put in banners in an effort to help my teammates out.
^ I have made a (selfish) build specifically for karma training in WvW which basically has ranged skills to tag enemies easier and survival skills to raise the chance of me still being alive when the zerg is capping points from another zerg.
^ Lastly, I made this burst build yesterday. I don’t exactly know where it is good so if anyone knows where burst builds are useful or has any ideas for changes to be made to it, any help is appreciated.
