This has been my favorite weapon set since beta. It gives me mobility, an instant evade (that works even if you’re immobilized) in FS, which combined with 15 in acrobatics gives me many chances to evade and the damage is good. I’m primarily a pve’er and have no trouble getting the second strike of FS to land, and as someone pointed out in another thread, that’s about the same damage as a backstab from behind. If I need to strip boons from a boss like mob I can do it rapidly by only letting the first strike land, my damage goes down but it clears the way for others to lay on some hurt.

Also, sword designs look better than most daggers to me.

Currently running all berserker exotic armor save a rare helm (I forget the stats, I need to upgrade it though) a berserker dagger and valkyrie sword. Exotic berserker amulet, an exotic knight ring (going for two) and either a valkyrie or knight earrings, I just have a couple of green zerk items there. I also have a guild assassin back piece with exquisite ruby jewel. I still have some upgrading to do, but my thief is coming along.

My 6-10 skills are: SoM (I also run P/P and occasional SB) a situational utility, shadow refuge and SoA. Elites are either Thieves Guild or Daggerstorm. Utilities I favor are caltrops, and scorpion wire, unless I’m in a situation that specifically needs something else such as blinding powder or smoke screen. I’m flexible.

My traits are 0/30/0/25/15 Deadly Arts did nothing for me really, I miss the poison on steal but I can live without. CS I use patient vitality if I need the HP, or the Side Strikes trait, Critical Combo Chance and Executioner.

I don’t use a lot of stealth so SA was right out. Acrobatics at 25 does more with its stat buffs to keep me alive than SA did. Traits are Power of Inertia and I’m testing Pain Response, Assassins Reward is what I used to have, but I’m not sure it’s better than a ten second regen. Alternatively, I sometimes wonder if my might on dodge matters much, and if not, I could use both healing traits. Lastly with Acrobatics, I noticed my endurance is almost never full anyway, so Fluid Strikes usually stays up, combined with First Strikes and having 15 init, it’s easy to get +20% damage before anything else.

Trickery is mostly for the extra init, but the trait I use is Flanking Strikes, though I do have to wonder if Uncatchable would be better.

I’ve tried all the weapon sets and this one is easily my favorite. I can equip mostly dps gear and still have staying power through dodging and hp, it’s always exciting to play and to me, really looks cool. Someone asked my if I used an elite once when I went on a boon stripping frenzy

They would have to be a human in cultural T2 armor to make it complete.

On Crafting: i say, go for it.

Yes, it is not worth it -moneywise-, but it is fun and gives a sense of accomplishment you cannot have simply playing the TP and using the Mystic Forge.

It is so easy to max craft, that i really cannot understand why people in my guild wonders why “i have crafted my armor myself” instead of “selling all materials and buying it from the TP”. It is not all about money, my friends. It is the act of creation

And… I could be the one SELLING you your armor.

Best reason for crafting I think.

nudges thing back towards the topic rails

Fantasy thief skills. Well for starters some would involve an off hand sword and just more weapon options in general. Also, improve Scorpion Wire and Shadowstep to deal with intervening terrain and moving over gaps.

Sideswipe- When you’re about to be hit, you shadowstep behind the attacker and strike them. Add range to it and make it a conditional gap closer. Functioning like the parries in game, actually this could probably be the fix people want for Flanking Strike >_>

Hidden Death- Stealth, root/bleed the target. Disable their condition cleansers and let them die unseen and alone (I feel a little more evil just for typing that)

Swap positions- You and your target swap positions.

Weapon Specific
Kyoketshu Shogei Dagger+ chain (thanks Kynx)

I’ve seen people suggest whips and I’m still for them, but this seems like it would be more of a two handed version.

Skills for AOE, trapping and a projectile defense for the frontal arc. Something that can protect several people.

Dire Sword/Double Sword- Whatever you want to call it. http://www.trueswords.com/images/prod/c/TS-CRUSADER_540.jpg
I used one on my main in NWN for years, and haven’t seen them in another game since. I loved the things and figure that if a Thief was going to have something on par with a greatsword, but not a greatsword, why not?

I’ll think of more sometime I’m sure.

The orphan’s storyline was my favorite in the game bar none.

My first unforgettable moment was back in BWE 2 my girlfriend and I were node hunting in Queensdale and saw a cluster of copper nodes. With a rich one inside a cave, trouble was it was filled with ettins. For reference, I was a p/p and s/d thief and she was a s/s and staff mesmer.

Getting in wasn’t to hard, but the aggro range was kind of scary, and they respawned rapidly. I forget if we ever got all the nodes, but we were fighting for a good ten minutes, getting downed and either getting the other back up or getting ourselves up through killing another ettin. We didn’t die once and it was some of the most intense fighting I’ve played in an online game up to that point. I think we learned so much about our classes and styles that we improved a great deal from before that encounter. People complain about it, and it’s not perfect, but I love my Flanking Strike skill

No.

It’s just better to learn how to play the TP and create exotics from the Mystic Forge.

This hits on something that has been bothering me. I crafted weaponsmithing to 400 and am working on leather working and huntsman on two different characters, and as frustrating as it can be to get fine mats, orichalcum and ancient wood, I don’t regret it. I’m not normally a crafter but I enjoyed it here.

What has really frustrated me though is that for all the work put into crafting weaponsmithy, all my creations look largely like either cobbled together crap or base items. Almost all the really cool looking weapons comes from the Mystic Forge and very rarely do things need something from a craft. Every time I see a new recipe of some really cool looking item (probably a greatsword no less) it’s from the Mystic Forge, and it feels like another slap in the face.

Why wasn’t some of that given to the crafts? Why is my 400 weaponsmith skill largely useless compared to being able to afford and/or grind for mats for a Mystic Forge recipe, or sheer luck from tossing somethings in to get something else out?

I’m not interested in crafting legendaries right now. My main is a thief, and the MLP bow, weird and kind of creepy pistol, the dagger and sword don’t interest me in the slightest. Bolt was of interest to me for awhile, but in all honesty I prefer the shape of my ceremonial saber. I don’t have any other options right now.

So besides crafting ingredients for legendaries and lackluster appearing (yes, my opinion) but stat equivalent gear, what did I do it all for? Where is the crafter reward? I want my warm and fuzzy feeling over creating something I can be really proud of.

Some of these forge recipes should be injected into the crafting disciplines and at a variety of skill levels. Even if it was just the skin and the item was of white quality, at least it would be something to be proud of.

I’d like to add that combat should stop or all npc’s become invulnerable to any damage source during a cut scene. Nothing like entering a cut scene with your own npc army, only for the cut scene to end and you’re the only one on your side still standing.

I looked around for some clues about this, but couldn’t find anything that really answered my question.

I picked up on the trading post awhile back a level 76(I think) shaman’s etched einhander. I used it as a skin for a crafted lvl 80 exotic I had just made shortly after.

The recipe required for a Corrupted Blade (the 1h sword) is 20 corrupted lodestones and a lvl 80 shaman’s etched einhander of rage. Well I don’t have the superior sigil of rage yet, but I was wondering if the sword would work anyway?

Right now it’s called “Shaman’s Etched Einhander” and is a level 80 exotic, but had a roundabout way of getting there. Would it still be able to become a Corrupted Blade?

I saw in another thread some people were put back several steps in their quest as a way to get a clean fix. I would happily accept being put back to where we select our greatest fear if it mean I got to move forward again. Or just to be skipped ahead to the next quest.

Well, special equipment (armor/weapons) I can understand having to buy, it’s an mmo. I think they could be sold to anyone and have a reduced cost to order members though.

We should also have free order specific town clothes to function as an order uniform, gifted to us on finishing initiation. Perhaps with upgraded visuals as we hit a new rank. Nothing really extravagant, but something to show rank.

For the docks, have you checked inside the fort? There’s a third wave that gets launched over the docks past the first line of defense.

For the stall, the only thing I can think of is that the fix didn’t get into the 10/1 update for some reason. I can’t find any situation where it’s not working correctly on our internal servers, and looking at the script it has a failsafe to force it to continue.

If you want to party with me on the Tarnished Coast server and see if for yourself, just let me know and I’ll make time.

I did Striking Off the Chains, Wet Works and Willing Captives all with the same person who was able to finish those and Battle of Fort Trinity. I still get stuck at the same point where the priory npc’s and Trahearne have their conversation and then nothing happens.

This is just depressing at this point.

Ok, two updates now and I’m still unable to so much as start this quest. I’m not one for hand outs, but at this point, can we just get our rewards and get pushed past this quest? It’s absurd at this point and extremely frustrating. Normally I love quests like this, but I’d like to catch up to others and play the rest of my quests. Should we take this issue to customer service? Is there anything ANYONE can do?

This very same thing happened to me as well. I did it with one other person. She then went on to complete the Battle of Ft. Trinity.
