Just a question, but can the rings be broken down into ascended mats?
What skin is it now?
I agree here. I don’t care if they do the same for male characters. I’d still agree
Off hand sword for thief and some canthan inspired weapon skins.
My human male has had white hair since the start
Everyone else is either blond, pink haired or a red head.
Sadly you can not equip a second sword.
I still have hope that someday, this will be fixed.
The Duelist Chestpiece goes well with nearly anythin, here’s my own armor combination with pieces of 5 different sets and it looks great (the only problem is that it has a small red texture line in the middle but I expect that to be corrected soon):
What is the shoulder armor appearance you are using there? I like it, and I remember seeing it before but I cannot remember what it was from.
It’s both the Trooper armor from a personal story reward or the noble armor shoulders from Caudecus Manor.
I think someone should play through the Unidentified Fractal
Medium armor mostly, there are some really nice light and heavy sets out there.
It feels like I say this in every mmo I play, what gives?
His personal opinion is a bunch of people’s personal opinions. How about simple text bugs? You know, bugs that can be fixed in a day?, like the SE dungeon armor vendor charging the wrong prices for light gear. Or the CM vendor not offering major runes, or the guardian virtues not reflecting the correct cooldown time, or guardian signet of mercy not displaying the correct passive heal? Text bugs. You can’t even fix text bugs? Its been 3 months.
If i sound upset, it’s because I just played a broken cliffside and a broken asura fractal.
It is the majority of people‘s opinion but not everyones opinion. That’s actual correct piecing of the text; it is neither just his opinion nor everyones.
The moderator should have just left out personal… and gone with “I do not want new content”.
Hey, it belittles everyone who doesn’t share the opinion, or does but doesn’t want the OP to speak for them. Just like its inaccurate to say the majority of people share the opinion. It’s the op’s personal opinion, there’s nothing factual behind it to say its the majority, minority or anything in between.
Semantics are important especially when you want to make blanket statements. So what if the OP is belittled, they belittled the people making the game.
I changed the title to reflect that it is a personal opinion.
Maybe its me, but this comes of as quite snide. I assure you the OP is not alone in his thinking. Lets not forget the amount of one-time content that is released into the game in a non working state. Phase 1 lost shores anyone?
The amount of one time content isn’t as great as the amount of permanent content. And how is it snide if its true? All it takes to disprove the original title is for one person to disagree. I disagreed and I’m not alone either. The OP is not alone no, but it is still a personal opinion and not a blanket fact.
We do get both, and I like how the title is now edited to reflect a personal viewpoint. That I have no qualms with.
Speak for yourself, I’d like new content, I want bug fixes too, but its not mutally exclusive. New content is how things like the off hand sword I wish for thieves will happen.
What are the cultural armors like for sylvari females? I only know the T3 is worn by Caithe.
The huge overall they would have to give us to compensate, combined with sticking to the theme of our class, would probably have people complaining even more than they are now.
Ten shots makes sense, and would boost the damage up a bit, but it would also take longer.
Increasing the channel time to account for the extra hits would just result in Unload staying mediocre DPS, at best it’d become more initiative-efficient, but Unload doesn’t exactly have that issue as-is.
Which is why I said it would take longer and explained why eight shots can still be logical for the dual skill version of repeater (thematically).
…Kirito uses greatswords? :s
Probably need either theif or ranger to use his “special” dual wielding skill, probably a thief unless you want a sylvari hound called Leafa or something.
Might want to consider a sylvari for the pointy ears too
You know, I was really thinking of the current Alfheim arc and not paying attention to the picture posted. xD
I agree, mesmer may be the best bet if you want to dual wield swords and it does have a good look. In the anime at least he single wields most of the time and his weapon in the Alfheim arc resembles a greatsword in size and how its worn.
In terms of movements though, Kirito seems like a thief to me. Infact should Thieves get dual swords, I hope its Kirito that inspired a Anet dev for animation and skills.
….and who wouldn’t love an elite skill for “Starburst Stream” ?
Ten shots makes sense, and would boost the damage up a bit, but it would also take longer. We can imagine that in a hail of bullets a couple go wide of the target, thus 8 hits instead of ten.
What I would like to see instead is a slight boost to damage and/or for vulnerability to be taken from the #2 skill and rolled into Unload, and the system Lokheit describes above looks like a good way to do it to me. I just picture the stream of bullets to be punching through whatever protection the target has, and maybe with stacking vulnerability, the skill wouldn’t even need a damage boost. Hopefully, done this way we could get a new number 2 skill.
Maybe a final ninth shot from the off hand to apply weakness would be cool and stylish. As long as it didn’t add time to the channel.

I’m hoping for a polar bear teddy backpack. Heh, come on… would be cute and awesome at the same time.
Better yet, make it a mini Koda backpack
Largos and Tengu fr certain have my interest, but never as a replacement for my human.
It would really make a difference if the mods checked in and posted some feedback. Better yet a dev just to say what they’re looking at and what they are going to consider. Otherwise the pertinent info will be lost and this will all be pointless.
if you want a greatsword and medium armor for the coats, you could go Ranger. I don’t think there’s anything under heavy armor that resembles Kirito’s design.
This thread started off very good, then became a mixed bag of responses. All in all though I’m glad we have a Anet started thread to voice our feedback. I’ve been getting discouraged by the way Thieves are shaping up patch after patch. I’m primarily a PVE’er, as unless I want to go for a few specific builds, WvW is nothing but frustration for me.
I’d like to throw my support in for Tulsin’s (sorry if I misspelled that) synopsis, and just relate my thoughts on another common request/concern I’ve seen here.
The Thief has to few weapon sets, and as someone else said, it limits us to only a few builds with little variety. I think besides fixing bugs, this is our most pressing concern. Give us new weapon options, probably the most commonly requested fix to the class. Then take a look at our balance and rework all our sets to be more cohesive and fun.
Take a look at our utilities, rangers already have traps covered, so why not get rid of a couple through consolidation and refinement? Give the Thief something unique and tricky. I feel one aspect of gameplay that the game lacks is playing with positions, both for defense and offense. We’re the closest thing to the Takuyan (GW1 Assassins) on Tyria, lets get some of that shadow magic back.
Thematically we’re to broad, narrow it down even just a little bit, and I think it could really inspire the sorts of changes that people are looking for. I’d like to ask the class design and balance developers a question;
“If you had to boil down the Thief class to one word and one word only, what would that word be?”
You can see people are craving new variety in their weaponsets, and most specifically for an off hand sword and rifle. I think these are two requests that would make a lot of players happy. Even if not all of us stuck with these two new options, we would appreciate the simple fact that we got them. That Anet listened and gave us something specifically asked for. Not only would the new additions be considered fun but it acts like a show of good will and a boost to player moral.
Don’t stop at those two though, look at other weapons (before getting into a new class of weapon of course) such as a mace. If the Thief is supposed draw on concepts of a thug as well as the other things, then this makes sense yes? Main hand only, off hand only, or both hands, it could work like a control/support set and free up options on our other weapon sets. This is just an example, not a personal request since its not really my style anyway.
Once we have these options, reexamine all the weapon sets. Is everything logical in that set? Is it synergistic with itself?
Lets take it further, when you have some skills ready to implement, take a sampling of players that focus on s/tPVP, PVE, and WvW and discuss them with them to get some feedback before sharing them with a wider audience.
Weapon set options are I believe what Thief needs first and foremost, and that it’ll pave the way to the rest of our problems being solved. An Anet developer said when traits were reorganized into trait tiers that having some restrictions creates more chances for creativity, but I say that having to many restrictions stifles creativity AS WELL as freedom.

Sigils and jewels are for weapons, crests can go into armor but I’ve never tried to put them into a weapon. One jewel type of note is exquisite jewels, they only go into accessories, including back pieces.
Just looking at the animal spirits and the environment they had to live in, I think the family structure and loyalty would be the overriding quality here, making them more loyal to one another than humans. “Serial monogamy” (love the term btw) I could see being the way to go. It’s just the need to rely on one another in order to survive would really encourage a people to not be so open and casual.
Titles for events in the personal story too. The last couple missions one npc or another would grant you a title, but you can’t use it. It’s a pretty cool scene, but whats the point of being granted a title then?
I commissioned a talented member of the community to draw this for me.
Cool picture
is that all drawn or was your girl there from a screenshot with a filter applied?
Why couldn’t the kitten weapon skins and mini’s just be sold in the cash shop? Is there even a place to view these weapon skins?
I wish we could off hand a sword, but we can’t.
Updated thief looks. Still need new gloves.
o.o what sword is that?
The skin is the travelers ceremonial saber
I would like some tattoos and/or piercings for humans. Some sort of body art. The other races get skin/fur patterns or tattoos, humans feel pretty unadorned.
The ice one is worn by high level norn icebrood, the ice on that armor isn’t so much the armor, but growing out of their body.
The asura have offered to experiment on the sylvari and determine why they appear immune to corruption, but so far no one has volunteered.
I roleplay a lot, I’m happy to do a sylvari who’s wyld hunt is to extend the immunity of the sylvari to the other races. I’ll make a Sylvari, level it to whatever, and happily turn them over to DEV’s and taken out of my control. Just say the word
My pride and joy thief.
This is like my exact setup on my thief from a couple weeks ago O_O down to the color scheme, I think its posted in this thread.
3) First Strike strips a boon AND is unblockable something that seems to be forgotten in this thread.
Is it truly unblockable, or rather, does it strip Aegis? There’s a difference.
Truly unblockable. If someone has Aegis on, and is using a skill to block (not Aegis) you will punch through and strip aegis from them.
I agree with several of Sorrow’s points, and object to anyone thinking they can speak for me without consent. The skill needs work though, not a complete overhaul or a scrapping, but it does need some work.
1) Pathing. I think the biggest complaint about the skill is the pathing. If its not a simple matter, then the suggestion that seems to be the most common is to make it a shadowstep to the rear of the target.
2) The evade. Personally, this evade has saved my bacon more times than I could count, and has let me go toe to toe with many targets I otherwise couldn’t have. I have spent most of my time as a thief (which is most of my GW2 time) in S/D style, so I have a lot of practice with it. That being said, you do have to cut it a bit to close, and it could really use some forgiveness in its execution.
3) First Strike strips a boon AND is unblockable something that seems to be forgotten in this thread. How many of these can you get off in 3 seconds if you skip the second strike? My count so far is 3.
4) Landing that second strike. I don’t know, maybe it doesn’t work that well in TPVP, don’t care either, for me its an unimportant game mode, maybe its so amazingly fast paced that the half second it takes to make the second hit connect is all someone needs to escape it. I feel two things, one that the second hit could use a slight boost in delivery speed, and two, I feel sorry for the people using the skill that don’t realize they can chase after a target and still hit.
It’s not the worst skill in the game, it could use some improvements yes, for certain, but it isn’t garbage. It’s just a move that requires finesse and practice.
For now nothing much but most likely determine a future Personal Story path.
Most likely a way to explain why the Gods remain silent.
A lot of Personal Story remains unfinished and unanswered because Anet plans to explain these as future Personal Story parts.
Source?
It’s just a very likely possibility. If you want your stories to have longevity, you include potential plot hooks to exploit later.
What priest shows up in your home instance, hanging around, doing nothing.
Question about the two guns, do they have any kind of effect on them? Or are they the same as the Pact weapon skins?
and weapons please.
I agree with a lot of the suggestions for mainhand pistol. Notably, I’d like to see #2 changed into some sort of AoE, spreading gunfire around a certain area like a semi-auto. Unload could use a slight speed boost and/or damage increase. I feel though that if the attack was sped up and the cost dropped, then the damage could be fine as is.
My main set is S/D.
1) Attack speed could be increased. I’d also like to see one of the conditions that are applied on the third hit, applied on the second.
2) I don’t have problems with the range, because I think it’s 600+range of thrust attack (130) for a 730 range. I would love it if I had some say over returning or not. I tend to take myself out of a fight to often, and the option to return takes to long to clear. At least could it end if you’re not in combat anymore?
3) In PVE I have no problems landing the second hit, but the pathing is weird at best. Sometimes I’ll go all the way around my target before hitting them. You’re also easy to hit when you’re doing your double stab. I suggested it during beta, but I think the first hit should come before the evade very fast, then after the evade the second blow. Pathing is an issue and shadow steps seem like the best way to do it but if that is the way to go, I’d miss the feeling of movement that FS grants. It may just be aesthetics, but I’d like to see something cool with a skill, like splitting into a couple shadows, moving on either side of the target and coalescing behind the target for the second strike.
My other issue with FS may be more with the AI. Npc’s more often than not are already turning around as you flank, making it almost pointless as a defensive attack, especially with all those traits that give bonus’ to hitting from behind.
I also strongly believe we need more weapon options. I’m still for off hand sword and rifle for a 1200 range weapon
Would desperately like to see Dagger Storm or Thieves Guild used undwater.

The male looks like he’s wearing the T1 human cultural gear. Or simply the low level version of duelist gear.
I’d join one, though can you even communicate with one another if you’re not on the same server?
I like your style and the generosity
I hope I’m posting this picture right ;>_>

It might not have practical applications, though if it can skip trash mobs in dungeons that sounds pretty practical to me, but even if not, what’s wrong with experimenting for fun?
I have the T3 medium boots, does that get me in the club?
I always thought the barmaid in the human commoner’s story would end up joining an Order, probably the Vigil. If we joined the Vigil too, then we’d have her with us on some training missions at first, or if not, we’d meet again when the Pact was formed and she’d be there at the end.
There’s always a chance we’ll see legendaries in future updates, it could be well worth it to hold onto the shard and gift until then.
