Well just to give some examples, before you even took the Stonemist Keep you had 20+ guys assaulting Overwatch, about +/-20 people in our borderlands taking camps and the tower using breakout event and 2 groups of +/- 5 people in pangloss and the area near mendons / speldan.
And thats only my own observations, it was really an impressive force, and its good to see a server rallying so many troops at the same time to take over the lands.

It seems like people still don’t understand it. There are a few guilds who are not doing organized raids in the other server’s borderlands.
That does not mean that those guild members aren’t attacking the other server at all! Its still a three way fight everywhere, just a few guilds who don’t gang up on the others and only in their home turf. I can also say I’ve seen as much RoF in our BL as GH (except yesterday) and in total I’ve taken more green off the map then blue, mostly in northern EB corner where things are still switching sides constantly.
The reason is simple; GH showed at reset and yesterday again that they easily have more numbers then the other 2 servers, I dare even say combined, if they decide to (which, to my knowledge, only happened on the 2 occasions previously mentioned). Also RoS just have way too few people, and only 2-ish active WvW guilds that I know off.
But hey, in the end its all about fun, isn’t it? And it seems like a great match so far.
People are friendly (for the most part) and all three servers seem to respect both other servers.
Sadly it seems next week we go down to T9 again. There simply is no fun in playing there… Most people even stick to PvE during those matchups nowadays. On the other side, atleast Whiteside Ridge will have the chance to actually have some decent fighting again.
Impressive numbers coming out from Gunnars Hold right now.
That northern corner in EB must have flipped colors atleast 10+ times already this matchup. Good for the karma but I wonder who got the better end of it.
I think Gunnars Hold.
I haven’t fought many more servers then FoW and Vabbi, and the occasional Dzagonur, Underworld or Drakkar Lake.
But still the best fights I’ve had were either with GH or in the group with them.
Happy New year!
To whoever that Gunnars Hold Engineer was on the southern island between the two towers in RoS Borderlands, that was an awesome spar. I don’t haven’t seen many engineers and didn’t think highly of them but you really put up a nice fight.
Also we just had a great contest with RoF. We should definitely do that more often!
I’m not sure who all of you were, I only got told who Chris was, but I was the elementalist with the plain armor. Great fights and a nice little distraction from the daily WvW slur.
So far this week has been quite joyful, had some really good fights with both RoF and GH, much respect to both!
It does seem like our numbers have increased, or the level of awareness on our random people might have increased. We’re still hanging in between T7 and T8 though, either stomp or get stomped. But I have always enjoyed small fights more anyway. Also during out little spar with RoF just now I didn’t even care that our bases were taken over.
PS; To that one guild on GH that knows what I’m talking about. Yes I’m kinda targeting you, but no hard feelings or grudges. Just friendly competition and showing what I can do, you really put up a good fight and I’ve enjoyed most of them.
I agree that something has to be done.
If you, for example, move a small team with a few golems to quickly and stealthily take an objective and you meet a player who you manage to take down before he spots the golems or your small force, you’d have to make a wide path around him to avoid him giving information to his team. This is all costing you time and is sometimes not even possible.
I’m not sure about the forcing them to look at the map though. It would be fine if they could still have a chat panel in the map. The worst thing in an MMO is to be unable to talk with other people, as this is one of the base functions of the game.
I do not agree that stealth should be removed when taking damage.
I do however think that stealth should break when the stealthed player is knocked down/back, stunned or dazed. It forces offensive CC out of people but, if aimed correctly, has a rewarding factor.
Also the leaving a trail of blood / vomit sounds like a fun idea, could play around with the intensity as stacks increase etc.
I don’t think stealth in this game is that badly designed. I just think that, using resources such as CC, there should be a way to reveal the stealthed target.
Being able to stealth and dodge is the thieves survivability. Without it they are completely useless. They dont have the health or toughness to survive.
Elem has less base survivability stats and people are widely considering them to be the most tanky profession in the game. They use Protection, mobility and build tons of defences into their gear and build.
All a thief has to do is stealth. Which I think is fair, if there is a way for people to counter it, as the thief doesn’t have to give up anything to get stealth in the first place.

1. Switch MH to scepter and stack might.
2. Sit back or get a staff and use some AoE / build and man the siege.
3. Under cover of defensive siege, go and disrupt the enemy as much as possible, try to take out their siege or the people manning it. Be a total nuisance to the enemy team, use everything you have to not die and keep hitting them.
4. Don’t. If you can’t shake them however, run in the front to close the gap between the enemy and your team by disables and snares. But really, just don’t zerg unless you want to PvDoor, in which case refer to #2.
5. Disrupt them as much as possible, try to survive and get in and out of the group, having a small force chasing you weakens their main group. Same as 3 basically.
I can’t tell you how to play, because that’s entirely up to you.
I can, however, tell you how I play. And maybe give some insights.
For PvE, I run a balanced gear setup with stats mainly focusing on direct damage and critical hits.
I have 2 armor pieces, my weapons and 2 jewelry parts dedicated to defensive stats while still having power (Power, Toughness, Vitality). I have around 1400 toughness with 10 points in earth, and 1500 vitality with 30 points in water.
I focus on supporting my group by cleansing conditions, giving boons and healing.
I use the scepter / dagger combination, and use Fire 2 -> Fire 4 -> Fire 3 -> Arcane Wave ->Fire 5 -> Switch to Earth Attunement -> Earth 4 -> Earth 5 to give everyone 18 stacks of might.
Between the might stacking combo’s I go to Air Attunement or stay in earth to deal some damage, and use Water Attunement near allies to heal them and clear conditions. Going back to fire only when I know I can stack up some might again.
My current build is: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEAQJArYhImmblR5gjEAkHnYCLjChIKYRRxM4A;TgAKaM0IoxujjG5ODLmiA
I would go a bit more offensive while keeping 30 points in water, but I use this same build in WvW so until they add dual trait setups I’ll stick with this.
The problem with this build is that it’s all done in melee range.
If you want to go ranged you’re pretty much forced to use the staff.
When I used staff I had pretty much the same gear setup, but with 30 points in air magic. Taking 10 away from Earth and Arcane. Taking the 2 glyph traits and using Glyph of Storms rather then Arcane Wave.
You can still support your team with combo fields, CC and healing / condition removal. But since I mostly ran with a group that had very few finishers I switched to Scepter / Dagger so I could do it myself.
I hope you’ll enjoy Elementalist as much as I do, and wish you good luck!

Outmanned in our own BL, you really make us work for it don’t you. >:|
RoS always had a problem with population, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be a challenge.
We had some good fights the last couple of days and we’re not planning on dropping back to the lowest bracket again without making you guys fight tooth and nail for it!
Always outnumbered but never outfought!
Maybe he closed the gap using Fiery Greatsword in either air or earth attunement and then ditched the sword to use an Updraft or Earthquake + burst combo as stated earlier. Sadly there is no possible way he could have killed you in 2 seconds unless you were both glass cannons (getting up from Updraft or the animation from Earthquake alone is around 1 second.)
If you use a spell without a target it will cast it at max range in front of you. Traveling spells will be blocked by objects but spells that appear at a location which do not require manual targeting will appear behind them.
Simple fix would be to make solid objects block these spells so when you cast without a target and a solid object is in the way the spell will land on / in front of them rather then behind them.
Being traited in Glyphs makes the skills really useful (and have a 96 second cd).
Sadly the cooldown resets to full duration when the duration of the elemental is over, making the cooldown 180 seconds instead of 120 by default. Also glyphed it’s actually still 156 seconds.
