In the same way that CoF p1 is perfectly fine with any group, but a certain segment of the playerbase demands 4 Zerk War + Mes ONLY groups because it is “more efficient”?
How is this relevant at all? Maybe those people are not so narrow-minded when you take into account that they’re there to farm not sight-see the path for the 200th time, and small differences (actually not small if it’s a case of everything goes) eventually add up. Would you rather cut an entire field worth of grass by hand or use a machine?
And there are also ready some subtle dps checks in dungeons, the most apparent is the fractal champion grawl event. Try doing that 40+ with 5 condition necros.

lol p/p and sb, one of those ranger-wannabes in fractals.
And please don’t use the word “you” when talking about not being able to melee bosses in high levels , it misleadingly suggests that it’s an universal fact.
It’s rubbish because you go from exotic to ascended just for that tiny percentage of stat gain, only to lose it to stuff like healing power and magic find. Specialize is the key. If I wanted to change builds every now and then, I’d rather prepare 4 sets of cheap exotic trinkets, each for a build, rather than invest in one jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none.
And then there’s the issue of jack of all trades “im a bit of everything” being worthless here. But that’s another topic.

- don’t run an instance if you don’t have enough AR, even if u dodge well, maw will get you.
So you mean back when 30 ar was the norm we were bad and should have been ashamed for running 48? Oh woe is me, its great and all that everyone should have enough ar for maw and stuff like facetanking dredge suit’s agony.
Allowing us to access levels 50-59 only requires adding infusion recipes for the amulet and the earrings.
Hundreds of AR are needed to pass 50+, so those recipes wouldnt help. The amulets and accessories are there just so players can have a crutch to lean on for bosses 40+.
Their intention seems quite clear, no means no. As to why that is up to speculation.
The Thief’s P/P should have higher base DPS than the Warrior’s Rifle, instead it’s the opposite. The Elementalist’s D/D should do more DPS than the Warrior’s Greatsword, etc. It’s all because of the risk vs. reward sentiment.
Then can warriors have stealth, spammable blinds, canstrips, chill too please?
What I really don’t understand is there isn’t some innate balancer for the low Health/armor classes, like superior offensive or even just better endurance regeneration.
I think some of it is related to the issue with how ranged attacks are inferior to melee attacks damage-wise, which was a change made across the board early toward release and was very misguided because some classes are much more dependent on maintaining range than others.
I’d actually be fine with that to an extent, but it isn’t balanced across professions. Instead of say, a ranged ele being equal to a melee warrior and a melee ele being superior, a melee ele is equal to a melee warrior and a ranged ele is inferior to both. That’s just … not right.
Ranging while strafing means you already barely take any attack at all, so health/armor are quite irrelevant. On the other hand, the guys who melee are already taking risks being up and in the mobs’ faces, now you’re saying the other guys plinking from a safe distance way behind should be rewarded more with damage?
Guardian LF 3 zerk warriors,1 zerk mez CoF p1 pro farm 2hour+.Gear check pm .
Love your friendly neighbourhood “eficient” non-elitist dungeon runner.
Hahahaha because trimming a few seconds off each encounter increases your gold per hour dramatically.
I don’t know why for some reasons the non-zerk “i play intelligently” crowd keep insisting that the difference is only seconds..
For cof its minutes that add up to hours because when people farm they just dont two three runs and be done with it. Other dungeons/fractals, the difference ranges from 30 minutes to easily 2 hours.
(edited by Razeor.6271)
i bet if we play together you can t evade 50% of his Attacks
Its visible as long as you don t have all those particle effects covering the shaman.
i.e. visible 1VS1….invisible 5VS1
not to mention the bug of the istant 1shot after shield :/ that can easily wipe a group
You bet wrong.
Very visible, with all those particle effects.
two thing they should do. 1 Agony animation should be half visible, right now its not at all.
It is very visible.
I’ve seen so many thieves just .. or just range the whole time and very few that really know how to play their class.
This is why I’m more happy to see a ranger than a thief. Better to have actual rangers than ranger-wannabes.
There’s a reason why fractals seem to be much more difficult/painful when you’re doing the 0 – 30 brackets.
So not different from the tokens to skins system now. Players would get the gear they need in less than a week then go back to talking smack in LA.
And the precursor drop would only mean I’d only need to run cof 200 times instead of 1000.
(edited by Razeor.6271)
But catering to casuals pays, and anet is running a business here.
Which group do you think bring more profit to a company, the ones that akitten and socialize in LA, can’t be bothered to do anything more than park alts at world bosses, guild missions and run a few laps of orr, and dump their money into gemstore cosmetic items. This group may quit quickly, but there’s easily a new wave of players to fill in their places because of few barriers to entry. Or the group that want challenging dungeons and bosses that only a few guilds in an entire server could defeat.
the issue of repetitive “speed runs” in dungeons is something that needs to be addressed
What issue? The ‘how dare those scum war/mes nooblets run cof/coe repeatedly, that isn’t how the game is supposed to be played, its all about having fun and classes equality etc" issue?
(edited by Razeor.6271)
I like to think its something like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_holdout
A little off topic, but is there any benefit to running that high level FOTM (45+ or even 40+)? I do 30s daily and I can’t really push myself to go higher.
Dem skins.
Which I believe is also the reason why 50+ have been hard capped. People who ran 60 70 dailies before the patch told me that skins were almost guaranteed to drop each run.
The interesting note here is that the person who was faceplanted, was calling out the one who did not…
It’s also interesting that they’re in open world pve, and not in the same group whatsoever.
Tired of being judged? Stack defensive trait points and gears, and join us in our leet ranging everything with staff/bow/rifle and never get downed again. You can then laugh at those srubs staying melee thus risking getting downed.
But yeah,
Yeah you should totally report and take them to court for discrimination because they prefer an 80 which would make the run faster.
And got to love that I sometimes survive longer than 80s part that is almost obligatory in posts like this.
It’s like that anyway, a lot of people have multiple 80s above level 10 in fractals that they use to get the daily reward,
And there are others like me who’ve leveled 2, 3 or more alts to above 48 just to farm skins. That’s a massive difference from getting above 10, which can be done in one day.
And I’m sure if anet had intended for chests to be so easily farmable, just like parking alts at dragons before, they would have made it so from the start.
2.where the phuck do you see me suggesting that
I’m sorry, I didnt take you for the type that don’t think and realize there are consequences to changes.
(edited by Razeor.6271)
And to let it become whoever has more alts gets more chests? lol.
it’s just skins
Meanwhile skins are supposed to be endgame content.
And getting to 48 is not hard.
And rolling for swamp everytime, LAME, grow a pair please…
I guess not everyone likes being edgy for the sake of being edgy. Choosing to make the run 30 – 45 mins longer for no logical reason is not the equivalent of having balls. Fractals dont differ much in difficulty, it’s just that some are longer.
Most people do 2 dailies, some twice that number, everyday. After a while everything becomes groundhog day, so us baddies with no righteous conscience will skip/glitch/take whatever paths that allow us to shave off 10 – 15 mins each run.
And don’t assume groups that skip/glitch can’t do it legitimately.
In dredge fractal, if stealthed planting the bombs will give revealed debuff.
Old Tom’s poison bolts cannot be absorbed.
This is actually related to projectile absorbing skills being changed in general. Guardian’s shield of the avenger can still absorb them.
My mistake.
It literally is the only way the giant seal level can be beaten past 20.
Sure ok.
Another brave soul endeavoring to justify mf in dungeon. Meanwhile devs can’t be bothered enough to answer every little thing on the forum.
Good luck with your crusade.
- Underground Facility: Rabsovich can no longer be pulled from his dredge friends.
Should have been more clear, the dredges reset as soon as they move beyond the door which you use to enter the room. Rabsovich can still be separated from his minions.
The door gimmick at dredge clown car no longer works.
At cliffside’s final boss, players’ skills get locked during stun phase after hitting seal (stability didnt work).
Old Tom’s poison bolts cannot be absorbed.
Safe spot at svanir’s boss no longer works.

I’ve seen good thieves players. They’re just so few in numbers
Because most of them have switched to guard/war for pugs, and/or stick to their own premades, and shelf the thievery for wvw/pvp
Initally I was thinking the same thing as well. But there is nothing random about this. I got 4 shortbows, a fren of mine has 5 focus and another dude i know(this one it the best) 6 spears. This problem has plagued my FOTM group and nearly everyone I do high lvl fractals with.
Ok if you still think my sample size is too small scroll back through this thread and see how many ppl have this problem. Once your done, scroll back through the previous threads about fractal skins drops and check there as well. Finally pay attention to the party chat after the daily chest drops.
Anyone can easily see that certain weapons drop much lesser then other.
Sampling bias. Perhaps the ones with problems tend to be vocal, whereas the ones without don’t say anything at all?
To me the most annoying thing about fractals is that the reward level is tied to your character. It’s not fun to have to start again, just because you need variety from playing a different class. Make it accountbound!
There’s nothing stopping you from doing this now…unless you insist on opening every time/getting loot.
On the other hand, there are people who’ve actually leveled their alts all the way again just because they want two chances at the skins daily.
I don’t wipe over and over again, it’s just a long boring fight which should be reorganized or removed.
My mistake, it’s not possible to wipe while kiting and killing mobs 1 by 1 at range, but this is why it seems like no challenge and to take forever. In fact killing all the hypnosses first so the rest can be grouped up to be meleed/aoed easily can actually cause wipes.
but if you dont have energy afrer series of dodges, you will most likely have troubles.
Unless you are talking about dodging from one projectile’s destination to another thus having to dodge again and have no endurance left, I can’t understand what your issue is here anymore.
I believe, that with right tactics everything es doable (including this), but tell me, how many times did you pass these mobs in a random group after someone killed the marked mob and your party wiped? People just leave the group after that (sometimes even the one who started the instance) before you have a chance to explain the “right tactics”.
You said “you will not be able to complete this fractal”, I responded that it’s not true. I have got a dozen of free 38/48 dailies from pugs group that failed this.
Rabisovich event requires nothing: you just pull mobs behind the wall and kill them slowly, a wave by wave
Doing that door thing is why it seems monotonic and takes forever.
No, I did not miss the part where you say your experience is limited to pugs. However, that is not relevant to your list of suggestions to fix certain fractals. From your two posts what I can infer is that you suggest that devs should put another pair of training wheels on the content, make fractals pug-friendly (not fail-safe, fractals are nearly fail-safe already).
And you moved goalposts a lot, especially with the responds to ascolanian/volcanic/cliffside parts.

The 2nd pack of krait on 40+ lvls. Yes, it’s very painful. There is no real challenge here, just killing mobs 1 by 1 at range while they just deal insane amount of damage and down people. It may require 10-15 min to pass these guys, which is just…
Prioritize hypnosses, instead of just kiting the damosses forever and wonder why you wipe over and over again.
Bloomhunger, as his agony ability is too unpredictable. It’s barely noticeable unless u start taking serious damage from agony
Personally I dont see any randomness here, theres a delay between when the signalling red-circles appear and when the projectiles actually land, you have enough time to reposition
NPC’s have an odd aggroing mechanic: they never fight with mobs until the whole group comes into melee range, but at the final square they aggro on ballistae and arrow carts which are located really far away.
They will fight when hit by mobs/sieges. People are told to get in melee range so the npcs can be cleaved by those warriors/meteored by mages; not because they will “aggro” when close enough. Once they start fighting you can stay melee, or retreat and plink to you heart’s content. For the court yard, make the people with npcs stay by gates away from ballistae range. If you run to those pillars and let them get hit, of course they are going to go in and pull everything.
But the worst part of this fractal is arms seals part. If you (or someone in your group) deal a mistake, you will not be able to complete this fractal (and daily) at all, because you will have to deal with constantly spawning armies of hard-hitting mobs at both sides. And you will not be able to reset this. What is that? 1 mistake of 1 member of the group – and no daily?
Completely doable, even at 70+, with the right tactic.
Don’t forget – he also uses a meteor shower which still can kill you (during the elems phase too), and I think agony arrows are just a little bit too much here, especially when you have to eliminate the fire shield asap.
Don’t remove his shield immediately, clear some elementals first.
And this lasts very, very, very, very, very long. I know that they droop loot, but people mostly prefer to do their daily quickly, and this just turns that into a very long, monotonic and exhausting process
This is more or less a slippery slope, but if you want to remove the clown car, why not make every fractal swamp, and make daily just as comparably fast as “daily” daily. Like you said because pristines and relics are worthless, people who do dailies are mostly after the skins. Those skins are by no means a “need” like laurels. Sometimes you get lucky and you roll ice or water, sometimes not and you get dredge or cliffside.

Oh, and FotM… is purely based on grinding, which was clearly stated as NOT what this game was. Clearly, that was a lie.
I’d like to say that you and I have very different views on what grinding is, or what we’re promised. The “no grinding” means that you dont need to do the same thing over and over again in an extended period to level up/acquire gears so you won’t be outleveled/outgeared by the next man. This doesn’t apply to fotm. You can get your two needed rings and backpiece in more or less one week doing only up to 20. If you want to go higher levels for the challenge/loots (lol)/skins or whatever it is you see in them then you need to work for it, the game doesn’t force you to. Not having 50 personal level or a misty gs won’t restrict your experience in other areas of the game.

Yup, make it so that if you’ve done 3 dailies/dumped 200 rares into MF/open 20 chests you’re always guaranteed a skin/precursor/ticket Anet. Only then everyone can be a happy camper.
At the risk of opening that can of worms, can anyone remind me why there shouldnt be a gear-check?
The drop rate is not that bad. I’ve been running 48 for almost three months, got a dozen of staff scepter trident skins unusable, yet I still come back for more. My highlight of a day is getting excited before opening the chest, after be it an easy run of swamp water ice or torturingly long one cliffside dredge. Anet has made almost everything easily obtainable, which is a good thing, but there are a lot of people like me who like to have a few elements left to luck.
The weapons dont have higher stats, and there are a lot more better looking ones out there (except for some most fractal skins just look like outlandish ugly rocks on handles). A lot of people myself included are after them because we like something rare among all the corrupted/destroyer/mysticforge/legs. If the rate is messed with it will kill the hunt for a lot of us. There’s not much left to do already.
AR 40 or 45 is pretty much useless right now. I suspect that when they decide to open up 50+ daily I will probably have got 45 ar on both my main and alt.
Additionally, players don’t have the substantially larger health pools that veterans have. This health pool prevents a thief from quickly bursting something down before it can strike back.
On a side note, this is why Sword/x > Dagger/x, to answer OP’s question on which wpns are best. It baffles me every time I see a thief running D/D in dungeons/fractals, except for those that are too stubborn to put away their Incinerator. They’re not wow rogues that can oneshot mobs.
-Sword cleaves, cripples, and immobilizes with skill 2
-Spammable black powder from /p is far superior to once-every-3-second traited blind-on-stealth that goes away quickly
-Pseudo-dodge with infiltrator’s strike and return
-S/D dual skill evades, removes boons like protection/regeneration on some bosses/vets
Don’t mind Columba.9730. I used to be in the same guild, and he hates thieves with a passion. :P
Once the culling is removed, I think things will improve overall.
Yeah I can see that he almost exclusively posts in thief qq topics.
Forever asspained lol.
Burst:

You mean vit.
Frankly bleeds are subpar for dungeons, or anything pve besides solo leveling.
20/30/20/, full berserk, S/P, SB. 20 in SA because I run this build for WvW and cant be bothered to change traits 5 times a day, and toughness also helps in pve.
Once you learn the mechanics of dungeons, 24/7 dodge/evasion isn’t much of a concern when you can slot for utilities/dodge only when necessary.
