Where have all the People Gone?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

There’s so many reasons to keep people interested in this game. If you don’t see anyone, it’s because they’re busy with this game’s rich end-game content.

Exploring Tyria is unpredictable and dangerous. You never know what you might encounter, which makes exploration exciting and slow enough to last for a lot of time. Remember those games where all you do is farm fetch quests, and replaying with an alt is painful? In GW2, playing with an alt is an exciting new experience. And all those enemy patrols, the unexpected encounters, the diversified enemy team formations, etc. There’s a difference between a casual explorer and a skilled explorer: the later kind of players have knowledge and experience about unique each map in Tyria is, so you better ask them advice. GW2 is a game that rewards skill and knowledge, after all. And when you get that awesome treasure at the end! Isn’t it an awesome feeling to go through danger to get that rare, shiny sword and equip it? No wonder people don’t play those grindy mmos anymore, you know, those where getting rare equipment is trivial and nothing but salveagable loot. In this game, getting a rare equipment actually incentivates you to equip it and get satisfied by what you just found. No, getting loot is not just about colecting generic materials.

And the community is really tight and lively. Inbetween all the guild features, player-generated events, and demanding team-driven content, there’s so much depth and fun for those players. This is not a game about rushing with dps gear and dodging red circles, no. It’s about covering the weaknesses of your allies, giving them space to shine, and analyze the unique strategy behind each encounter.

Another reason that players might not be seen, is because they’re following and customising their personal story. They’re tweaking the personality details of their characters, completing their home instances with stuff, repeating the epic main narrative, and the two-week content patches are keeping them busy. Especially considering how important lore is in this game. Getting ascended gear, getting legendary gear, or filling in extra % map completion gets you to know a lot more about Tyria. GW2 is about the experience, not about mindless material grinding or the like. Remember the entire quest to get the Twilight? I enjoyed the story behind Bolt the best, though.

But those mmo grinders don’t enjoy a game like that. No, they’re leaving GW2, and getting back to those games where you… farm an easy dungeon for weeks, farm epic bosses by auto-attacking them, farm dailies, farm mindless mob waves… You know, those games where you’re in a never-ending race at attempting your luck with RNG boxes. That’s what keeps those games really popular, so people all went back to them. But fortunately for us all, GW2 is not this kind of game.

Hahahah XD

When you go to the professions from the main page and click on ranger all the skill videos are gone and the wallpapers and screen shots seem to be replaced by the living story pictures. Don’t know if anyone else has pointed this out.

I’m re rolling to a guardian from my ranger for various reasons. I’m looking to get to 80 as fast as possible so what is the fastest way to get to level 80? I only have 60 g so I’m not sure if that’s enough to level by crafting. Sorry if there’s already a post for this

Should I pick a new main?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Reclaimermaster.4107

Reclaimermaster.4107

I want to choose a new main to play as. I currently play as a ranger and I enjoy PvE, Dungeons, and WvW as the ranger however, I feel like as a ranger there is little I can offer in WvW. What professions offer the most in WvW? I am thinking about making an elementalist. Is switching to an elementalist (or other class) to feel like I am contributing more in WvW worth redoing all the things I have done on my ranger?

Karka Shells or Armor?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Reclaimermaster.4107

Reclaimermaster.4107

Soon we will be able to purchase special armor at south sun using karka shells. I assume that this armor is similar to the settler’s items so it will have the same stats as apothecary. I run BM Bunker as a ranger so this would be good armor for me to get, however I am wondering if I would be better off to sell the karka shells I have (1,500) because the price of them will probably go up a lot once the armor is available. This way I could make a major profit and just buy myself better armor with the cash I get. So should buy the armor and use it or sell the karka shells and maybe make a huge profit.

Should I run Bm bunker?

in Ranger

Posted by: Reclaimermaster.4107

Reclaimermaster.4107

I have been searching the forums for a build to use and have decided on the BM Bunker after watching the video posted by Xsorus.2507. My current set up is 30/20/x/x/20. For armor I have full Armageddon Karma armor with the runes of Balthazar that come with it. I have 1,937 power, 1522 precision, 1740 toughness, 1288 vitality, 120 condition damage, and 364 healing power. My question is should I continue to use what I have and save myself the 10 some gold it would take to buy the armor. Or is my current set up so horrid that I need to either buy the armor for the Bm bunker build with gold or buy a different karma set.

Should I Main Guardian

in Guardian

Posted by: Reclaimermaster.4107

Reclaimermaster.4107

When I first saw the professions for guild wars 2 I wanted to role guardian. I like being able to hold my own and buff my teammates. However I reconsidered playing the guardian after seeing so many others playing guardian. I have played ranger almost since I first got the game in September. I have a lot of play time and enjoy the ranger but I always want to go make a guardian. Should I make a guardian? I feel that because so many people play as guardian I won’t offer much help to other players. I would like to know what others think. Should I role guardian like I first wanted to when I got the game?

Picking a class

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Reclaimermaster.4107

Reclaimermaster.4107

I have already gotten a level 80 ranger and I enjoyed it and got a lot of gold from playing but I really dislike the class I feel as if it’s not the class for me. I am a huge WvWvW player and I want a class that can hold its own in a 1v2 or at least 1v1 and I can’t seem to do this with the ranger. Any suggestions as to what class I should pick?

Which profession to choose?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Reclaimermaster.4107

Reclaimermaster.4107

I just recently got to level 80 on my ranger and while I enjoy ranger it’s not something that makes me feel very effective in WvWvW. I am making a new character and I am split between three professions, the ele, Mesmer, or thief. I want to play as the profession that I’ll be able to support my team in WvWvW while at the same time be able to take on other people and not die to fast. I would appreciate some feedback as to which one would work best for this and also which race you would suggest with the profession.

Ranger or Warrior?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Reclaimermaster.4107

Reclaimermaster.4107

I have a Level 63 ranger that I have spent a lot of time on, but I feel like I can’t find a good build for the ranger that will let me be helpful in WvWvW. I created a warrior and have been playing as that for a bit. The warrior is only level 6, So I’m not sure if I should just stick with my ranger because of all the time put in or start playing as a warrior. I would love to hear other people’s suggestions Thank you.

I have a level 60 ranger and I’ve only been going for racial armor (I am a sylvari) and I don’t know if racial armor is something you should go for or if it’s just cool to collect all them. Please help I would love suggestions as to what armor to use.

Why is Ranger Bad?!

in Ranger

Posted by: Reclaimermaster.4107

Reclaimermaster.4107

I’ve noticed a lot of negative topics about the ranger being underpowered or bad etc. etc. I have a level 50 ranger and it’s currently my main. All these comments make me want to choose a different class to play as so I don’t waste more time. Can someone explain why the ranger is getting so much negative feedback and what about the ranger needs work so I can understand it?

Should I make an Engineer?

in Engineer

Posted by: Reclaimermaster.4107

Reclaimermaster.4107

My main is a level 50 ranger and I feel like I can play as the ranger but when I play WvWvW I feel like I offer no help or I’m constantly dying. I want to create an engineer or a thief. I played as a engenieer before but only got past the tutorial. I’m leaning more towards engineer but I’m worried about likening it or not. Many people are complaining about the ranger on the forums and when looking at engineer or thief forums I rarely see complaints. So do you think it would be wise to make an engineer or thief instead of playing as my ranger? And if I should what race should I pick? Would love to hear some feedback thanks!
