With the links, most servers are fairly populated right now with a few exceptions (like DB). What is your timezone? Do you enjoy big zergs or smaller numbers?
I’m EST, but unless its a weekend I’m normally on after 6pm. I enjoy zergs and the occasional small group.

What are a few servers with WvW activity that usually lasts all day? I was thinking about going to Maguuma or Yaks Bend. Im looking for large populations of WvW players on the server also.

just went through Verdant Brink, Dragon Stand, and then did Bloodstone Fern 3 times and got one Lilly. That’s with gathering boosters so sometimes I even got up to four uses out of one plant. Why the hell are these so kitten rare? Are any of the other four stat items even close to this hard to get?
Freshwater Pearls …
Is there a reason why these are so hard to get or are the drop rates just kittened and haven’t been changed.

As a loyal customer who has been playing since the beta tests, I am very disappointed to see this. Making these account bound pressures players into gambling with real money. I will never support MMO gamble boxes and will be very hesitant to spend money on this game in the future.
so its ok when only a few people have to gamble to get tickets or skins, but not when many do? Remember the skins don’t just appear on the BLTC people had to use tickets to get them or gamble for tickets or the skins.

You really find PVE so difficult that you think it needs different balance?
Are you soloing raids? As a 4000+ hour player with 15k chievo points i can’t fathom what could possibly be causing anyone so much trouble they would need the game balanced for PVE.
What encounter in PVE is giving you this much trouble that the devs should re-balance 100’s of different skills?
It’s not that there is any PvE content that is too difficult. The idea I had in mind was if a certain skill needed to be changed in either PvE or WvW due to some sort of imbalance in one of the modes. If this skill is performing as expected in one game mode but not the other then the devs are stuck on how to change said skill. If they change the skill in one mode it may have a negative impact on the other. I’m not sure if I worded that quite the way I had in mind, but I think the idea is still there

I wanted to have a discussion with the rest of the community and devs as to the idea of having balance be separate for PvP PvE and WvW. I know this is an idea that gets thrown around a lot and I am definitely in support of separate balance. I am not sure as to why the game was not balanced this way to begin with and why it has not changed since. From my point of view, I think the game would greatly benefit from separate balance. If a team is looking to balance content in PvE they would not have to worry at all about the impact such a change would have on another game mode and balance could be quicker and more content focused. I know that having three different balance teams may be harder than it sounds, but with the recent addition of a team entirely dedicated to Guild halls, I am not sure why three different balance teams are out of the question. I would imagine that because these teams are only working on one aspect of the game they could be significantly smaller than the current team as the scope of content they need to worry about is 1/3 of what it is now. I have heard some say such a split would be negative to new players or those who play multiple game modes as they may need different armor for each game mode; however, I don’t think that it’s an issue. As of now I am always changing my armor based on what game mode I’m playing so there would really be no difference. I also think that with a major WvW update on the horizon this would be a great time to separate the balance and really make some major changes to how WvW is played. So are there any other negatives and positives to having separate balance? I would love to hear others opinions and views about balance separation. I would also appreciate a response from a dev on this, are there things some of us may not be thinking about or things that really make separate balance nonrealistic for GW2? So feel free to throw around ideas and concepts, but please remember if you do comment that others will not always view thing the way you do so try to open minded when discussing.
(On a side note I believe PvP has its own balance so really it would be separation of WvW and PvE, but I could be wrong I’m not much of a PvP player).

So after three years I finally decided to create one and I wanted to ask the thief community what one I should create. Iv been playing a lot of thief and changed my main from ranger recently , so I am still somewhat new. My question is which legendary would be most convenient to have as a thief? I assume the top three would be quip, bolt, and incinerator. What I mean by convenient is what one would save me the most money and time seeing that I wouldn’t have to buy another or multiple of that weapon type.

Hey all,
I’m looking into the combat degen resulting in too heavy a gating of Celestial Avatar in PvE situations; from what I saw over the weekend it seemed overly restrictive in open world battles. If this continues it then the degeneration when out of combat is likely to be removed.

I’ve always struggled with finding a Profession that fits my playstyle in Guild Wars 2, so I figured I would ask the community for help in finding the Profession that fits my playstyle the most. I think the best way to do this would be to list some of my other favorite classes or playstyles from other games and try and match them to the ones here.
. The first game series will be Borderlands. In both one and two I enjoyed playing the Siren and liked offering extra shield capacity and elemental chance to my teammates. I also enjoyed the High damage and power of Jakobs weapons.
.Second will be Planet Side 2, here I enjoy playing engineer and like the ability to take out vehicles and laydown supportive turret fire (somewhat the same in battlefield).
.Third and final is Dark Souls (1 and 2). In these games I preferred a more balanced playstyle. I liked the ability to doge quickly and attack fast, but at the same time I also enjoyed some armor and ability to take hits.
The profession that I’m thinking would suit me most is Engineer; however I have played only three Professions to 80 and most of my time has been spent on my current main Ranger. I hope I have provided a decent amount of information to my playstyle. Any help finding the right Profession to suit my playstyle would be greatly appreciated.

I have to agree, I was hoping to have the ability to run spirit builds in WvW after the patch, but now it seems like the entire set of spirit skills is almost useless. The only time i can really picture using them is in PvE and even then its only frost spirit.

I’m more of a WvW person, but lately i have been looking to branch out and play other parts of the game like Fractals. I Switched my main recently to my Ele and have been really loving it; however, the only set of ascended armor I have is for my ranger. How necessary would it be for me to have ascended armor for my Ele if i wanted to play Fractals with him? of course if any devs wanted to work some magic…..;)

I have been trying to get the Ancient Mariner’s Oilcloth Bag from giant gifts lately and have had no luck. The wiki says that it’s possible to get them from Giant Wintsersday gifts; however, after going from 115% magic find to 140% from opening gifts I am beginning to wonder if it’s even possible. I know RNG can suck, but it seems a bit excessive especially for an account bound item.

Personally i think there’s a lot of hate to both lb rangers and d/d thieves because of the amount of bad rangers that use lb and bad thieves who spam 2 on dagger. In my experience when facing other rangers who use lb for the most part they are running some kind of crappy glass cannon build they don’t know how to use. Just the other day i fought against a lb glass cannon ranger multiple times and during every encounter the ranger didn’t weapon swap a single time. Throughout every fight the ranger tried to use nothing but lb even in close quarters. That is why you get all the hate because when other people face lb rangers they end up facing noobs who run glass builds that wont weapon swap and simply cycle through skills 2 4 5 and 3 over and over.

The Ranger has been my main since release and there have been many times that I tried other professions and attempted to switch my main but for some reason I just can’t leave my Ranger. I think not having my pet with me is just too odd of a concept. After having played the Ranger for over 1000 hours having a pet with me just feels natural. Anyone else have that one profession the just can’t leave and if so what is it about that one that keeps you coming back?

With the announcement of an expansion I thought it would be a great time to finally change my main to an Ele. I have played for about 1500 hrs,1100 of that has been spent on my current main the Ranger. The rest has been mixed between multiple low level alts. I hate Ranger game play, but find it very hard to leave because of all the time spent on my character and lack of experience I have playing other professions. So as a new Ele with little experience what should I pay attention to or try to focus on learning the most?

Maybe it’s just me, but the radiant mantel skin seems too large on sylvari characters. Sylvari and human characters both have very similar body shapes and sizes; however, when I put the radiant mantel skin on my human it looks fine and when it’s on my sylvari the size is at least two time larger. It looks as if it where meant for a norn or charr character.

In the grove next to the Black Lion Trading Post there is an NPC named Liath who mentions armor. She says “just a little bit more. That’s Perfect. Don’t move! I’ve spent the past two hours coaxing these vines into place.” then your character asks “how’s it going?” the next dialog box is “quite well. i find my gifts work much better here in the grove. The plants are much less stubborn here.” your character can then say “Growing armor can be challenging.” then she says “as you well know. The vigil was resistant at first. They didn’t think we were well-enough protected, but they’ve learned. I teach others to grow better armor too.” you can then say “it’s a valuable skill for us vigil.”
I take this to mean that the armor is grown similar to how other Sylvari structures are. Not that it is grown from the individual’s body, but from “coaxing vines into place.” and that if other non Sylvari characters can have the same dialog options, then it may mean anyone can grow their own armor.

I use this for WvW the ascended items can be switched to exotic of the same stat and there is probably a better trait distribution than this one but I like what I have.

I liked the idea of the instant trait reset when it was put into the Gem store, however I think that an infinite version would be much more popular and worth the gems. Right now you can buy 25 of these for $20 and I like the idea, but the cost doesn’t seem to be worth it. Does the rest of the community agree that an infinite version for sale in the Gem store would do well in the game?

I am Re- rolling to a Thief and was wondering is it possible to change racial armor so it is account bound? I know with items like the anonymity hood this is possible and I hoping it can be done with racial armor to. Both my Thief and my Ranger are Sylvari so I’m not trying to get the armor onto another race.

we did, another just spawns and carrys on healing.
Yea because he used his down skill to revive the pet and it came to heal him. All you have to do is kill the pet again and then focus the ranger.

With the new fractles update coming i want to have a good PvE build. Currently i run bm bunker for WvW. What is the best PvE buld most rangers are running right now?
Hours Played: 3000
Lately I’ve been playing many of the professions to find one to Re-roll as. I liked the elementalist but the switching between attunements all the time wasn’t my cup of tea. I have narrowed it down to Thief or Ranger (my current main). I really like the thief play style and not having the pet is somewhat of a relief, however I have played the ranger for so long I know the class well and I already spent about 70 laurels for trinkets (kind of wish I had saved those). I have made many other posts in other profession forums in the past on trying to re roll to that class but in the end I always go back to the ranger. The Thief is the only class that I feel like I would be able to re roll as. I have some concerns though, I am worried about how viable the Thief is in Pve (dungeons and fractals mainly). I have never felt like I’m causing my team more harm than good as a Ranger but I’m not sure if I will burden my team if I play as a Thief. I would appreciate feedback on what the current state of thieves in Pve is.

Are you sure there’s no Ascended stat allocation that corresponds to your trinket+jewel setup?
I don’t believe that there is. I run soldiers trinkets and clerics jewels.
Hours Played: 3000
I have 70 laurels and really no use for them. The build I run on my ranger requires me to have jewels on my accessories so there’s no point really in getting acceded items. Should I save my laurels for later in case Anet adds something more I can spend them on like ascended armor? Or should I just spend them all on dye in hopes that I’ll get lucky and make some gold?
