If guild wars 2 includes guild wars 1, they would have a guild wars 2 account. Thats what my part of the discussion was about anyway. -shrugs-
Adding it for free would increase population numbers but it will also increase the numbers of tickets to support. Invariably there will be people who forget their login information, get hacked, get scammed, encounter a bug or whatever else that might happen and they will contact support to resolve it. They already have a long wait time now, since support is minimal. This would give both games a bad name as those players are sure to be vocal about having to wait weeks or months for their problems to be fixed and blaming ANet for inadequate service.
GW1 log in and password is the same as GW2 when they are linked. Not sure what the issue would be there. >.> If they forgot their GW1 password, they would have forgotten their GW2 password and have to submit a ticket anyway. In addition, GW2 going free to play/trial would have caused those same “issues”.
Looks like she made her Rage Quit video private, too.
Gets busted…makes video private. Yup.
Well then. xD
Anyone gonna try to argue that? >.>
Including it for free with GW2 purchase might be interesting, adding the Hall of Monuments as another selling point. -shrugs- But…I don’t think it will ever go free to play. They wouldnt want to bother putting resources into creating new cash shop items for such an old game.
Oh right. I’m on NA too
Thank you, I would really appreciate it
I’d be up for trying any of them, honestly. I’ll whisper you next time i am in game.
Soooo….
-leave PvE guild
-leave PvE zerg
-join WvW guild
-join WvW zerg
Hiya.
I figured I’d post this here and see where it goes. This might seem like an odd request since I am not a new player. I’ve been playing since launch. But…I have been missing out on some parts of the game, like Fractals and Dungeons. My issue is that I am shy and also not very good at handling stress, and being yelled at. >.> I don’t have very thick skin. So I’ve been hesitant to join these kinds of content. BUT…some of the stuff I’d like to have comes from those places. So I was wondering if anyone ever has some free time (and patience, lol), if maybe you can show me/teach me about doing some fractals or dungeons? The guild I’m in is not very helpful when it comes to this kind of stuff. :/ So, if anyone would be willing to give me a crash course or something, I’d appreciate it. My characters are a Dragonhunter and a Reaper….with ok-ish gear.
What will mounts save the game from, exactly? Un-crowded NPCs? I don’t really miss seeing a mammoth’s backside every time I need to sell mah goods.
It’s easier to follow the commander tag and spam your skills, than to learn what to actually do. Many would blindly follow the commander off the edge of a cliff. >.>
That was only partly serious. >.>
Merry Christmas and Happy Wintersday!
Hideous. >.>
now giving how this topic is now being covered as well over on Redit forums . and yet in both places there is NO ANET replying at ALL NOT even COLIN him self has said word one about this.
About that part, I’m pretty sure most of the Anet staff are away/home for the holidays right now. "As the ArenaNet staff takes time to enjoy the holidays and spend time with loved ones, we’d like to wish you and yours a happy holiday season as well. "
Just thought I would post here. >.>
I’m a long time player, since the game released, as well as an old GW1 player. I love the game, very much. But, I can not get Gems. And in general I don’t have much. I don’t have any legendaries or flashy skins, or outfits, etc. But the biggest thing that would help me a lot is the infinite harvesting items…especially the pick that can give sprockets. For me every extra bit of silver helps a lot. :/ And not having to worry about re-buying my harvesting stuff over and over would be a huge help to me. Or any quality-of-life stuff in general.
I know it’s a pretty long shot but…-shrugs-. Just thought I’d make a reply anyway.
Happy Wintersday, and good luck in your adventures!
…
EDIT: Whoever you are who sent me the pick…thank you. It means a LOT to me. You are a very generous person to send someone you don’t even know an item like that. I always wanted that pick so I really, really appreciate it. Thank you so much. <3
I could still really use the Axe and Sickle (any of them). It would really help me save silver on having to constantly replace my stuff. >.<

The silly part about this whole thing, besides the fact that the most active topic in a game’s forum is about movie spoilers…is that it’s always been going on. People have been spoiling stuff…always, including HoT’s story. There was never a huge explosion of QQ over that. But because it’s THIS movie in particular, everyone is now all up in arms about it. I haven’t seen the movie. I have seen some of the spoilers. I didn’t crawl under the desk and sob. I honestly fail to see what the big deal is. If someone is THAT huge of a fan, I’d think after a week they would have seen it already.
This could be a slippery slope, as others have said. From now on if anyone spoils anything that I don’t want to see being talked about, I can and am encouraged to report them for it.
It’s not “this community”. Its every community. It’s happening in every social game, and every form of social media.
The easiest way to prevent spoilers is to just go see the movie. Going to see the movie = easy. Expecting no spoilers online = not reasonable.
Ahh, the GW2 life. Just like my RL.
-Drink 10,000 booze for a sense of accomplishment.
-Buy overpriced clothes from the market but only if they are revealing enough.
-Go kill random animals with a mindless zerg of people running around behind me
-Go home to the Christmas tree I keep up all year, under which a magical gift appears daily, but usually contains junk, or just more booze.
Expecting common courtesy from everyone on the internet is just silly. Of COURSE people are gonna spoil it….if not in GW2, then on forums….Twitter….Facebook…Youtube and Twitch comments….it’s going to happen.
If spoilers bother you so bad and the movie is so important to you, then go SEE the movie instead of playing GW2. o.o
If you can’t for some reason, then the only way to avoid the spoilers, is to avoid their source. You can not stop people from blurting out spoilers or being jerks. You CAN avoid seeing the spoilers if you avoid the places they are posted. But even then it wouldn’t stop some random you pass on the street from blurting it out, or overhearing someone talking about it on the phone. Instead of demanding everyone that spoils a movie be banned…..just go see the movie.
If you don’t want spoilers you should probably avoid the internet in general, and see the movie as soon as you possibly can. Someone is bound to post spoilers…if not here then in game, or other games, or on facebook, or on twitter, or in youtube comments, or….you get the idea. >.>
people are going off on a rabbit trail but just my 2 cents. Factions and nightfall were expansions… what do you call adding new content to a previous game, an expansion. GG. They marketed it as a stand-alone game b/c it is and it was great for advertising, unlike WoW where you had to buy several expansions just to play the current one. But at the end of the day it was still new content, that was connected if you wanted to link it. That’s an expansion.
No. They were “marketed as stand-alone”, because they could be played alone. Again, Eye of the North was the only actual Guild Wars 1 Expansion, and was labeled as such. Also again, what if I bought factions FIRST, played it for a few months, then bought Prophecies and added it to my account? You’re saying Prophecies was an expansion as well…meaning to you every GW1 game was an expansion? To properly compare HoT to Factions/Nightfall, you would need to either…remove all the starter zones from Factions/Nightfall and require it be tied to Prophecies to play, or, make HoT a standalone game, which would mean starter zones and a vast amount of leveling content would have to be added to it. They are two different things, and comparing HoT to EotN is definitely the only viable comparison, as both ARE expansions.
Again though…I still liked EotN better than HoT. And if there is another GW2 expansion I hope they will go in a very different direction.

The “was Factions (or Nightfall) an expansion or not” argument is annoying. Factions wasn’t an expansion. It was a Standalone Campaign. Even though most people played it as an addon to Prophecies, it could be bought and played on its own without owning the “base game”. It wasn’t an expansion…most people played it as an addon to Prophecies. It’s classified as a “Standalone Campaign” and that’s exactly what it was…as was Nightfall. Eye of the North was another Standalone Campaign in the works, which they scrapped and stitched together what they had, as an expansion that required one of the Campaigns to play. Eye of the North could be played with Factions alone. Does that mean it’s an expansion expansion? If I bought Factions first, and then later added Prophecies to my account, does that mean Prophecies was an expansion as well? Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall were all Standalone games that can be tied to an existing account. None of the three were expansions. All three were “Base Games” that can be tied together. Eye of the North was the only true GW1 expansion.
That said….I found EotN to be more fun than HoT. If that bugs anyone…too bad. :p
Had an issue where after bringing down the Pale Tree’s health, she simply disappeared. Activating the rift had no effect. Was just standing around in the instance. Had a lovely picnic, then left. Not gonna bother with this joke of a final battle for a while.
Even if it didn’t include the core game, Anet would still charge the same price for it.

…-insert trollface here-
I was hesitant to even pre-purchase HoT. But being an old Guild Wars fan, I figured I’d give them the benefit of the doubt, and it’s the last time I will. They just did not seem to get much right to me, from the way the meta events work, to the asinine idea to put the raid entrance IN a map where the population has a direct impact on almost everything going on. I don’t really know what they were trying to accomplish with HoT…from cranking up the difficulty to adding so much grind, but to me it isn’t fun or “engaging”…it’s just annoying and frustrating. Revenant is kinda cool…thats about all I gained from buying the expansion. So no, I will not be pre-purchasing any GW2 content again.
I’ve been having the same issue. My internet is perfectly fine. Absolutely no connection or latancy issues with any other games, steam, tests, tracerts…anything.
I play normally and then just suddenly disconnect with the same error that was posted. No lag at all, no freezes, nothing. Just an instant and sudden disconnect with the same error message, and booted back to character select. I can immediately log back in…no issues or having to wait, restart, etc. However…the annoying part is ALL of my contribution in the maps is lost and I have to start over…only to be disconnected again 15 minutes later and repeat the process.
32 vs 64 does not matter and makes no difference. It was happening to me on the 32 bit, and still happens on the 64 bit.
Some nights it does not happen at all. Other nights it’s literally every 10-15 minutes.
Customer support will probably not be of any help. It’s nice to think that they would, but all they will do is ask the basic questions, check if your modem is plugged in, do a tracert which will show up normal, etc.
This did not affect me at all until after the HoT launch. Before that I never had a single disconenct issue with GW2.

Yeah I noticed for the first time last night, how annoying the bow is while doing an event. Someone right behind me was using it and wow…I’d be embarassed to use that thing…
Need to get those thongs.
Male Charr ones. -eyebrow waggles-
Yeah, same issue for me.
And the forums are probably slow because of everyone flooding to them to see what’s wrong.
Thanks for the replies.
As long as it wont cause me any issues I guess I’ll just ignore it.
Thanks again.
Hiya. I just have a couple of questions. I have a friend from Europe, that bought me a copy of the game. I didnt think to realize until after I registered the account that “Oh, this is an EU version of the game”. I checked my GW2 website account page and yup, it says “Region: Europe”. Since I live in the US, I am wondering if this will have any impact on my playing? Will it affect the people I meet, customer suport I deal with, or cause issues if I want to buy gems in-game? Will I have issues with latency or anything like that? I worry a lot, so seeing “Region: Europe” on my account makes me a bit nervous. x.x
