Hiya.

Just thought I would try my luck here. I have been for a long time, trying to find a good and helpful guild, that can help me out with stuff…I would like to learn Fractals, Dungeons, etc. And would also love to find some buddies to do achievements and goals together. I’ve been playing since beta, but have been a loner most of the time, so I have missed out on a lot of stuff. I’ve tried joining guilds but most were full of empty promises, guild cliques, or were just those giant guilds where nobody talked to each other. Fractals, farming, achievements, WvW…all are appealing to me. I am on pretty randomly, Eastern time, on Blackgate. I’m pretty shy and also tend to get discouraged/frustrated. >.> The guild doesn’t have to be huge, and I’d greatly prefer if there was no guild clique or anything like that. Umm, other than that I guess that is it. Just thought I would try my luck.

Hiya. I have been playing GW2 since it’s pre-release, but have never found a guild I felt willing to stick with. I’m not “hardcore” by any means. I’m more on the casual side. I’m mainly looking for a helpful and friendly guild that actually keeps its promises. It’s depressing to join a guild and realize it’s a small clique of friends that does everything together, while the rest are left to fend for themselves…their questions and requests never being answered. I’m mainly looking for a guild to do things that are new to me with, like Dungeons. I have done some Fractals but would love to get more into those as well..as well as some WvW/PvP stuff. Basically anything. xD I get bored of doing everything solo all the time. My main character is a Reaper who is geared acceptably. I have other max characters but they are not geared/set up. >.< I am on Blackgate, NA/English. I’m in the Eastern US, and am usually on in the evenings, and into the night, depending on how early I work the next morning. I’d rather not use voice due to personal reasons, but I have no issues with listening in if voice is required. I would love it if the guild is big enough to support multiple groups of people doing things, so people don’t end up feeling left out all the time, or if there are things in place to just prevent that. Being friendly is a huge plus, obviously. Annnnnd, I think that’s it. Just thought I would give this a try.

Some of us have been having this same issue for a while now. Ping will be perfectly fine for a while and then it will steadily climb…40…120…240…500..1200…etc, and will stay like that. Logging out to the character select screen and back in again sometimes fixes it, but only temporarily, as it will just climb up again. Oddly, it seems worse in certain maps…Bloodstone Fen is TERRIBLE for me, while Lion’s Arch rarely gives me issues.

Contacting support is just a waste of time. They’ll tell you to download and use pingplotter and give them the results (telia will be the culprit), after which they’ll tell you it’s your issue and your problem to deal with.

Sadly for me the only way to fix it is to just wait it out. Sometimes the lag lasts 20 minutes, and sometimes it’s the rest of the night. >.<

Hiya. Thought I’d post this here to see if I can get any help from Revenant players. I just can’t seem to “get” this class. I LOVE my Revenant character, but I feel like I basically suck with it. when I play my Reaper, I rarely, if ever, go into downed state. But on my Herald it’s a different story…I seem to be down/dead more than I am fighting. I have Herald fully unlocked with the full (exotic) armor/weapons. I feel like I get confused with which facets to use, as well as switching between the Stances. I tried looking for guides/videos but didn’t have much luck. So I guess I was wondering if any Revenant/Herald players can give me some advice on the class, or maybe if possible, show me in game how to play the class properly? I would really appreciate it since I do like the class/character.

Thanks a lot for the replies, I really appreciate it. Since it was suggested twice, I assume Axe+Dagger is the best weapon to use? I’ve also been using Bone Fiend instead of Shadow Fiend…oops. >.>

Hiya. I’ve been using a pretty basic minion build with my reaper for general PvE stuff, but I feel like it can be optimized a bit. I was wondering if there are any guides any of you know of (besides the woodenpotatos hundred minions build). If not, maybe I could get some advice on what important traits/skills/Runes to use, and which weapons? Right now I’m using GS + Staff and mainly Power stuff. Any tips/guides would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, I really hated my old display name. But it was a purely personal reason…it was just an old display/character name that I don’t use anymore, and wanted to update to reflect my “new” online personas. I contacted support about it and was told the same things. They reallllly stick to their guns about it. So in the end I got a new account, and now have a display name I’m 100% satisfied with. >.>

Mine comes on a copper platter. Tells me to buy the silver platter from the gem store. :/

Because the broom is a tiny little stick and the carpet is a tiny, flat rug. I’m assuming people who are asking for mounts are asking for FULL SIZED animals to ride like horses or other FULL SIZED animals from around Tyria?

Now I want a full-sized Tequatl mount.

And here I was busting my butt for 15 minutes chopping some elderwood for that much. Darn these new players getting everything for free, by doing an achievement every day for a year.

I am also looking for someone to help me learn Fractals and other group stuff, as well as just random things (like that dang HoT end boss). I am shy, plus I just haven’t had good luck finding help. I’m not a new player…been playing since launch, but I’ve been 100% solo almost all the time. Having a guild that actually helps and takes people along would be really nice. I meet all the “Looking for” stuff except PvP experience.

I figured I’d post here because finding a guild’s been frustrating. I’m an adult, and I’ve been playing GW2 since launch, but I just have not been able to find a guild that lives up to the things they promise (“Yes, we do all of that!”…then I join and it’s 3-4 people that do everything together while the rest of the guild is dead). I want to be able to learn some group content things…like dungeons, and especially Fractals, and maybe some day…raids. WvW and PvP could be nice, too. I am brand new to all of that, and most recruiting guids require prior experience. Random LFG stuff has been a nightmare for me. I’d like a guild that would be willing to take me along and teach me so I can get the experience I need to be useful. I have 3 characters with elite spec fully unlocked…Guardian, Necro, and Revenant. I play mostly in the evenings…8pm-1am or so, est. I am on Blackgate. Being friendly and social would be a huge plus too, of course. One thing to note is that I am quite shy, and that has been a big hold-up for me in finding stuff. :/

Anyway, just thought I’d try my luck here, and see if any guild like this actually do exist.

I’ve been playing GW2 since launch, and really love the game. I can not afford gems for all the shiny stuff. My ultimate goal would be to find a Dawn or Dusk, or be able to save for one, and maybe some day have one of the legendaries. But I feel like I’m not making much progress. Anything that can help me save more efficiently would be amazing, like harvesting tools or…anything like that.

This thread is really great, and the GW2 community is awesome.

Ive been through this same thing with support and they absolutely would not budge on it. Every option or idea I suggested/asked about to them, they were like “nope. no. nope. nuh-uh. nupe!”. So…I ended up starting over and getting a new account…just to have the name I actually wanted. However, I didn’t lose much…I didn’t have a ton of valuable stuff on the old account like other people do, so it was an option for me…at least I got the display name I wanted.

I’d love it if they would reconsider and allow name changes. Some people make typos in them, or just regret choosing the name they did.

Depends. For some it is, for others it isnt. I love the game but I wouldn’t say it’s any better than any of the other MMOs I play. Right now I play GW2, ESO, BnS, and WoW. I like them all…they all have pros, and are all lacking other things…including GW2. I will say though, that GW2 is the one where I most often end up feeling “hmm…bored…nothing fun to do”, hop around the fountains in LA for a bit, then log out. But maybe I’m burnt out and just need a break or something.

In short, I agree with the “no”.

You’re saying they afk, yet are the first to run to the chest…so in that case, I assume they aren’t afk…just standing and waiting? if anet implemented something like this wouldn’t those people just strafe 6 inches during the fight and not be kicked? >.>

To me the art style in bns and Tera seem similar to each other…especially the backgrounds and scenery and stuff. I did not care much for the character designs in Tera. But I do like them in BnS. But what I like about both games is the combat systems.

I have premium. It shows a short queue but it’s skipped almost instantly. And it’s nowhere near the 30 mins-1 hour free players have to wait.

But back to the point…I dont think its art style is the main reason for it’s current popularity. Id say that is because of hype that NCSoft themselves paid to have built up on Twitch, as well as being new and people being curious about it.

BnS is new so people are curious. It has an interesting combat system and good PvP. NCSoft paid quite a few streamers to stream it on Twitch between its early access and launch. I don’t really think it means people in NA prefer a certain style.

As for the queues, if you want to try it without queues, you can get a month of premium which includes skipping queues for about the price of an infinite harvesting tool in GW2. :p

I don’t really agree with “flushing” inactive names/characters, either. If there was some kind of technical reason/need for it and it was only on characters that have been inactive for a very long time then…maybe. But not specifically JUST to release the taken names.

Like others have said the best way to make sure you get the name you want is to use a last/surname. Make one up that you like, and odds are your name will always be free. As for Asura not having last names….Asura names are pretty random and easy to make up. There was even an Asura NPC in GW1 named “Ybbob” (Bobby, spelled backwards).

The name I like to use, “Rio”, is always taken….everywhere….within minutes of the servers opening. So…I got around it by making a last name that I ALSO like very much. Dunno why others can’t do the same.

Frankly such name locks should NEVER be implemented in multiplayer games at all. The time for what that beginning programer level design offers left years (if not decades) back.

It is one level of “realism” that I wish more games would be more cognizant about implementing.
I have zero issues if companies want to make it such that per your account, you can only have unique character names. Aka. Both Player A and Player B could have a character called “John”, but neither A nor B could have a second character named “John”.

I actually thought about this as well. Every single GW2 account has a 100% UNIQUE account name, so why can’t everything important be linked to that, making it not matter if there are multiple characters named, for exmple, “Rio” (my name) in the game?

People did leave, I know that for a fact…since I know people that left. but I dont know if it would be enough people to make it seem “deserted”. >.> Yesterday/last night was the headstart launch of blade and soul, as well as the start of season 5 in diablo 3. Maybe that had something to do with it? The population seems “ok” to me…Tequatl at 2am and the map was totally full, so…-shrugs-

I don’t miss most of those things. People here who have a reputation have that reputation because of the quality of their posts….not because they made 11,000 replies. Post count also encourages more spamming.

There are titles for staff, mods, and volunteers.

Avatars might be nice as long as they can be chosen from a selection and match the overall look of the forum.

I agree the signatures are a bit tiny. As long as they never allow images in them they should be fine.

I still log in, mainly when there’s an event going on. And just to get a feeling of “the old days”. I have considered making a new character and doing one last complete playthrough but have been putting the idea off because of lack of motivation. And as others have said, the game feels “dead”. Without at least one other person with me, going out and doing stuff feels so lonely.

I was in the same position a few months ago. I made both and ended up liking the Reaper WAY more. But its hard to tell someone else what THEY should play.

Yeah. Free to play will always be JUST the core game. When a new expansion comes out, they wont add old expansions to free to play. They never said that. One will ALWAYS have to pay for an expansion (the newest expansion) to get expansion content/features.

Seems like it turned into those that are glad they got banned vs those that think they should be given some slack.

When Gaile made her post, she mentioned “the account (singular) in question”. Since it was Stacy who was in the majority of the video and the one who started it, it might be safe to assume Gaile was referring to HER account all along. Maybe he used her account to bot. Maybe they shared the account. Or maybe he botted on both. We just don’t know. But Anet does. It would be nice if Anet would clear it up so all this bickering could stop. Either way…it was also mentioned that botted gold was sent to her account. Im not totally sure if it’s a bannable offense to receive botted gold (i’m guessing yes? >.> ). But to Anet it must look VERY suspicious…as a clear sign of botting on an alt account and sending it to a main account. I’m not sure how she’d even be able to plead her case…ESPECIALLY if they played on the same PC, which would give both accounts the same IP AND hardware ID.

The reason they are under so much fire is not because they were banned for botting. It’s because of how THEY handled it. Everything they did looked suspicious. Its so public, because THEY made it so public. If they posted an “I screwed up, I apologize” video from the start, instead of a “It’s Anet’s fault none of out followers will hear anymore of our songs” video, things might be very different.

At the very least…the brother is guilty, no matter what the situation is. If the sister is innocent, he knowingly went along with the rage video, adding his commentary to it, knowing all along he did wrong. I feel like that is a horrible thing to do. If he knew he did wrong he should have said “no, that video should NOT be done”, and came clean to her about what he did. However…sorry….but I do strongly feel like they are both guilty.

I wanna shine a little light on the whole cheating matter. I am 100 % aware about the terrible things I have done and said and I assure you, I am not proud of them. I just hope that some of you will understand that there is a story behind this and maybe reconsider the whole “just terrible cheaters/botters/liars and bad human beings” mindset. What’s really sad to me is that after watching their videos….I can see they put a lot of love and effort into them. To throw all of that away by botting a jumping puzzle, just boggles my mind.
