So I’ve been having the urge to make a Sylvari of late, primarily because their personalities, and thus, their role play, is so flexible that I feel like I could enjoy myself more. However, I’m having a hard time deciding a class to play with them.
Of late, I’ve been playing a Warlock, and I have been enjoying both their survivability and their condition damage, but I wouldn’t say no to something fresh. Maybe a bit more survivable, maybe a bit more direct damage, I dunno just yet. Every class can pretty much play however you want to.
So, what would you recommend for me to play?
Nice guide, making me consider making a Guardian. It’s amazing how the opinions of a “common player” can make or break something.
Hmm… a picture of a lil’ Asura in heavy armor with an afro is now in my head…
Engineer works just fine for Asura, if you don’t mind smaller looking pistols, or prefer to use rifles. I also find all “caster” classes tend to work just fine, because it’s not the size of your character that matters, but rather the arcane destruction/control they can pump out. Plus, staffs don’t look THAT bad on Asura, and they have this cute little evil grin as the twirl it around while idle.
As for a cute Asura, it’s all about the floppy ears and the afros. Spots help too. But then again, cute is in the eye of the beer... err… beholder.
I think the more important question is which school a Necromancer would most likely fit in. With all the theories and what not about the after life, you’d think they’d make good Synergetics, though personally I believe they’d more likely be Statics, since death is always a constant, and always there.
My current character is an Asura Necromancer who is part of the College of Statics, and he feels perfectly normal, like the race/profession combo is a good one. Almost wish we could link characters or some-such-thing here.
When I’m alone, I enjoy my minions, they provide me some good support by being oh-so-useful meat shields. That’s all I think about them when out-and-about on my own.
When in a group situation, I tend to ignore them. My ability to lay down dots and debuffs far out-weighs anything those walking meat bags can do, and, personally, I enjoy that type of casting style more than just another “pet class.”
And in PvP, I doubt I’d survive long enough to make decent use of those meat bags. So instead, I’d focus on laying down a crap load of conditions. After all, a lil’ revenge from the grave is never a bad thing.
Yes, meat bags is a technical term. Just ask a certain ’droid.
I like the idea of having minions pulled to the “special” keys (long since re-bound mine.) Would give me something else to press every now and then.
It’s not the size of the gun that matters, only the size of the crater it leaves.
I like this “wig theory” running around. It sounds just like an Asura.
And the fact that my “wig” is also an afro just makes it even better. A pity I couldn’t get a bright pink color or that “blurple” color. That would be awesome.
If elementalists are so weak then why so many of them?
in Elementalist

I think the one reason why there are so many Elementalists is because many things, like the Bradygames guide, for example, lists them as the best “pick up and play” class for new players. Which, I will somewhat agree with. The first class I played was an Engineer, just to get used to the system (and figure out how much keybind changing I was going to do,) then I moved on to try out an Elementalist. Much easier to play out of the gate.
And let’s not forget one major key aspect. Elementalists are filled with a whole bunch of flashy looking skills. Flash sells, even if the product it’s selling isn’t the greatest.
So, part of the Surname of a Charr is based on their Warband? In that case, could someone tell me what the name of the Warband is your Charr serves in, so I can keep “in character” a bit more?
