Maybe :/
https://twitter.com/Matt_Visual/status/509143222980206593So If personal story doesnt start until 10, and a key is rewarded at 10… then you get a key at the start of the personal story?
The personal story is unlocked at 10. Meaning at level 10 you will unlock the level 1-10 story. I’m assuming it will start with talking to Petra (as a human commoner). So what used to be a ~20 minute run will take however long it requires to get to level 10 + 10-20minutes.
At least that’s what it sounds like. I really hope it’s not though :/

I’ll miss it, guess I’ll be mapping the cities over and over again :/
I’ve only ever gotten transmute charges from city mapping o.o Unless that’s what you’re after >_>
Maybe “The Monsters” that are attracted could be from the Underworld? The Shadow Behemoth and other UW mobs look amazing so I’m still hoping they’ll come into play more in the future. Or minions of both Dhuum and Menzies…. Oh god I’m making myself want this so badly
Do you mean this article?
Also, by clues could they mean something similar to how the recipes for the Feathers/Wings of Dwayna require charged lodestones and Dwayna’s temple in Orr is surrounded by air elementals?
I was told Liadri was going to be a hellstorm, that only the best of the best in the game would be able to take her down. Yet, half my guild has managed to do it, and so have a bunch of other people I’ve talked to.
I hope TM is more of the old school difficulty I crave. Kill me! KILL MEEEE!
You should ask all those people in your guild how long/ how many attempts it took for them to kill her. Just because quite a few people have beaten her doesn’t mean it was easy to do so. It took me over 95 tries to beat her. Difficult =/= impossible.
So what’s going to happen to Opals (the raw crafting and exquisite types)? I didn’t see any information on them, only the runes and sigils.
The Great Collapse is where the art district used to be (lore wise, in the lore there never was a canthan district)
You haven’t played the Order of Whispers storyline have you?
Several times. I guess you refer to the man who trains beasts? It’s mentioned only in that one conversation that there is a cantha district in DR. My guess is that it’s a left over from before the decision to remove the district but even if it isn’t, the area where the great collapse is has been confirmed by devs to have been the arts district and NPCs there (obviously added after the change was made so not a left over) mention that it used to be the arts district.
So, I might have been wrong in that there is no Canthan district but if it is (and the dialogue in the personal story quest isn’t just something that wasn’t changed) then it’s not an accessible district and thus not in the game.
Then what about the direct mention of a Canthan district in Ghosts of Ascalon (including an allusion to one in the previous chapter as well).
Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t the Guild Wars 2 series of books supposed to be canon lore? The contents of which are alluded to multiple times within the game? If so, why do they expect us to just sit back quietly while they rewrite (without being truthful about it) a significant part of the lore?
The very least they could do is admit they’re retconning it instead of just saying it’s never existed.
Here’s an option, although I think it’s pretty hard to get closer than this. I don’t really like the draconic leggings although they’re the closest I could find out of all the options.
Where are you getting the art district from?
It is obvious from the screenshots that the arena is going to be located where the Great Collapse is. Look at the left side split roof overhangs. These only exist today at the border of the Great Collapse.

And I wish the people in that big “Canthan Thread” would realize it. Divinity’s Reach was founded AFTER Zhaitan rose Orr from the oceans and sunk old Lion’s Arch. However, when these Elder Dragons started to rise, Cantha turned it’s back on the Krytan people and the rest of the world. It’s closed it’s borders and stopped all external trade routes. All this is mentioned in a Durmand Priory book in one of their libraries inside Divinity’s Reach.
With that in mind, I do hope that some day we’ll get to see the Canthan nation once more…..as rubble below either the ‘jungle dragon’ or the ‘deep sea dragon’. I can wish no less on a nation that abandons the other races of Tyria for it’s own selfish needs.
Except think of the man who made Cantha isolated. Think of all the political ‘enemies’ and refugees that had to leave Cantha because of his unification rampage. Where do you think they went?

On terms of skin tone…
The ‘default’ Krytan skin tone in GW1 was quite dark, but if you browse through the GW1 models, there are a number of paler skin tones even among generic NPCs – the White Mantle Savants and Shining Blade archers are good examples. My personal theory is that while it wasn’t shown in-game, Krytan skin tones likely lightened as you headed further north, away from the tropical coast – and it’s the southern provinces that were wiped out by Zhaitan’s rise, meaning that the survivors likely had a higher proportion of lighter-skinned people. Combine that with interbreeding with Ascalonians and Canthans (albeit with some counterbalancing with Elonians) and it’s actually not surprising that skin tones have lightened.
You also need to account for the classes of Krytan culture back in the day. The standard Krytan man/woman we saw (with very dark skin) would have worked outside a lot, where the white mantle were more privileged. It’s one of the reasons why pale skin was thought to be so beautiful hundreds of years ago. It was something that most commoners didn’t have.
I’m fairly certain Anet would be making a lot more money if they put all the skins and things for a set price as well as keeping them in the RNG chests. People who enjoy the gamble can still gamble and the people who really want it will fork out the cash for it because their money won’t buy them a “chance” to get the thing they want, it actually will get them what they want.
And that utter crap of saying the boxes drop off of creatures. That doesn’t count. Black Lion Keys drop off of mobs and how many of those have you seen in the months that the game has been out? Like once or twice?
Giving a secondary option with a 0.005% drop rate is basically the same as not giving it at all. And even if you do miraculously manage to find one, what’s the chance you’ll get what you want from it? Very slim.
I just wasted $200 on these chests….Am really tired of this now. I had to buy over 100 BL keys just to get ONE bloody fused weapon ticket, now $200 (over 1.8k in South African rands which is my currency….) later and all I have to show for it is a bunch of Karka shells and Passion Flowers….
Please Anet, I have just payed for your server costs for a month and gotten next to nothing for it. Your RNG is flawed in so many ways. I have had probably 5 or 6 exotic DROPS since launch, and now after over 100 of these supply crates I haven’t gotten anything remotely useful.
Between that and the lack of Necromancer fixes, my interest in this game is starting to turn into annoyance, which is a pity, because I do actually like the game.
There’s nothing I can do now after already spending the money which is more than a bit frustrating, but what can I do…
If you want them to stop, stop buying it. Yes, you want the weapon skins/minis/ whatever from the chest, but the surest way to get them to stop is to show that this money grab isn’t working on the populace anymore. If people keep spending that much money on RNG, even if they hate it, nothing will change. They’re getting the money from it. That’s all that matters.
Actually there’s 4 (known) sylvari “types”.
The Sylvari: Attached to the Dream, influenced by the teaching of Ventari’s Tablet
The Soundless: Cut themselves off from the Dream because they feel it is a burden
The Nightmare Court: Feel that Ventari’s tablet has “corrupted” the Pale Tree and that the Nightmares within the Dream are what is truly Sylvari. Feel that the Sylvari should not be following the ideals of a human and a centaur.
The Dreamless Sylvari: The Sylvari born from a tree (or trees) that are not the Pale Tree/ not connected to the Dream. Assumed to be somewhere in Western Maguuma, near Magus Falls. One is currently known (Malyck's tree) but others are assumed to exist.
Unfortunately you are too late. The chest contained a ticket you could turn in for a heavy/medium/light gloves skin (looks the same for all armor classes)

When I read OP’s post I immediately thought “Buy new expansion, exhaust all content within a month. Buy next new expansion, exhaust all content within a month. Repeat this process for years.” What do you end up with? $100s down the drain and a bunch of empty maps no one goes to. Those other MMOs you spoke of not only charge you to play their game per month, but also require you to buy new content and expansions? Just so you can grind, grind, grind and work, work, work? Hello, this is reality here saying your free time is worth so much more than that! With Guild Wars 2, you get an evolving world (not just “new maps” thrown in there), for free (unlike expansions which cost up to $40-60?), and it runs for as long as the devs want it to go on for (unlike other games where you wear out all content within 3 weeks).
How is living story any different? You log on for an hour every 3 weeks to finish the next step, forget the game for another 3 weeks, log on for an hour.
What you said is the same premise of “Buy new expansion exhaust all content within a month” except it’s “Download new patch every 3 weeks, exhaust all content within an hour.” and that content isn’t even permanent.
One of the big things that made my friends and I interested was the fact that this wasn’t a WoW style treadmill where you need to play every week to keep up with the content. It really feels like that’s been disappearing, little by little.
Flame & Frost is the story that explains how the original permanent content evolves into the new permanent content. By its very nature, it has to be temporary.
Whether one realizes it or not, this is generally good for all of us because it gives ANet a chance to do a lot of experimentation, without forcing us to accept every idea they have. We give feedback, they tweak, and the game is better for it.
If you have time to play through it, great — you got to enjoy some of the transition. If not, well, you’re in the same boat as someone who buys the game in June — you’ll have missed out on some stuff, but still get to enjoy the best the game has to offer.
I’m sorry that some of us won’t be able to see everything the game has to offer, but I really don’t see how ANet can tell an evolving story without time-limiting some of the content.
Instances. The same way they had it in GW1 if you were a Canthan/Elonian character doing content that was Gates of Kryta or earlier (“This has already happened before your character arrived on Tyria. You are experiencing past events.” kind of thing).
Or even just like the bonus content you could buy where it put you in the shoes of key people. Remove the achievements that people were unable to get and let them play through the story in the shoes of Rox/Braham. For a small fee of course.
Removing this content completely, even for the sake of the story, is a waste of effort and incredibly limiting in my opinion. What happens when new players look back on the game?
A:“Wow, this game doesn’t have that much content for being this old”
B: “Well, actually there was more…”
A:“Really? What happened to it?”
B:“They removed it to make the game more exciting.”
A: “Well… is there a way you can access it again?”
B: “Nope.”
A: “So… it’s just gone? Forever?”
B: “Yep.”
A: “…”
You are able to complete Secret Contact if you already have the crypto-translator. If not, you’re out of luck, with lost and found as well.
If u guys couldn’t finish this content in the weeks they gave you, you should consider playing single player games and stop playing MMORPG’s.
You were all aware of the time-frame and had your chance. Too bad you didn’t got it.
Yes, but unfortunately some people don’t have those weeks because of things that happen in real life.. I had PC issues and could only fix them in the past week (coupled with life stuff it was hard to spare enough time to even complete 75% of the event). You do not need to be so condescending. MMOs are not something you need to play 24/7 to enjoy, especially GW2 which especially caters to casual players. Yes, it’s a shame that we couldn’t experience all of the event due to time restrictions but we’re not saying that it’s Anets fault, just that we’re disappointed (especially since the dungeon is arguably 100x better than most of the permanent dungeons and lasted for such a short time).
Please rethink your comment. MMOs aren’t only for people who have all the free time in the world. It’s for people who enjoy playing with others in an RPG environment. Just because some of us don’t have as much free time as others doesn’t mean we don’t have just as much right to play the games and have opinions on the game.

The victory phase has begun and will continue until the southsun cove patch. Be sure to interact with a victory bonfire in hoelbrak, the black citadel or lions arch to complete “A Rallying Flame”.
As mentioned in the guide it is mostly conversations, though if you’re curious, you should check out Cragstead and the hatchery. Also the Bonfire gives you a pretty good buff.
Really cool with what you did with cragstead and hatchery, like seeing that. Few questions.
Will cragstead for now on always be in a state of rebuilding, or will the eventually stop and the town will be finished.
Will these two areas always be instanced, or are you thinking about making them open world.
Finally, my predictions…
So I believe that Braham will eventually get in a fight with Knut whitebear of Hoelbrak over what to do with jormag. He will eventually overthrow him in someway, and be a major player in assaulting Jormag in the Shiverpeaks story. Part of the story will be probably be with Eir deciding who to side with. I’m sure his farther will make an appearence
Rox, I think may be get involved romantically with Rytlock. I also think they will be major players in assault primodious. It talks about how Rox’s warband was killed in a mine accident (underground, destroyers, etc) and they talk about using devourers and siege devourers (which can dig underground)
Braham’s father is dead
I don’t believe lost and found is possible anymore, but if you have a crypto-translator or w/e it’s called from before the event finished you are still able to complete Secret Contact.
As far as I can tell the only achievement you can complete now is the one you get for using a bonfire and the secret contact one (if you already have the crypto-translator from before the end of the event).
Bit disappointing for me as I could only get on for the first time in months a couple days ago and didn’t really get to finish everything, but I guess that’s how it works. The dungeon was probably the most entertaining out of any dungeon they have in the game so far. I don’t really see any logic behind removing it after such a short time, except for story reasons (which can obviously be worked around). Oh well.
