I was doing an explorable dungeon with a friend and a few randoms about 30 min ago, when all of a sudden the game gives me an error message and closes.
Afterwards, I try to get back in, and I’m met with several different error messages at different stages of the login.
-
First, at the launcher when trying to “Log In”, I get;
“Guild Wars 2 has encountered an error
The game client was unable to connect to the log-in server. Please restart your client and try again. etc."
At the bottom right of the error message it reads: “Error Code: 58:11:5:504”
-
Now, after a few of those, I get in to character select screen. I double click my character and get the loading screen for a few sec, after which I get smacked in the face with a new error;
“The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security applications, or connecting through a campus network. etc.”
The error code is: “Code=19:9:18:1614:101”
-
After trying several times, getting blocked by the first 2 errors, I finally get back in, and I’ve been booted out of the dungeon and have the window for joining my group in the dungeon with the “Enter Explorable blahblah” button there.
I press the “Enter Explorable” button, the loading screen starts, and a few seconds later, I get yet another error message;
“Network error. The inability to connect to Guild Wars 2 may be caused by internet routing issues or a server network failure. etc”
This time the error code is: “Code=5:11:3:157:101”
-
Now, I’ve tried the usual to resolve errors like this, such as cussing loudly at my computer, as well as restarting it, but nothing seems to work, and I’m still unable to play.
Any help with resolving this would be appreciated.
I personally don’t mind the dungeons being difficult, like they are now.
However, I don’t like how you have to do ~10 or so runs of explorer for each piece of the exotic armor when the dungeons themselves are often so long/hard that it takes hours to complete them, with little other gain. Sure, there’s the 25s you get upon completion, but in the longer ones you sometimes spend close to that in repairs anyway.
Also, some trash and bosses have ridiculously high amount of HP, while not being challenging at all. In HotW Explorer, for instance, in one of the paths there are these 2 huge lumbering beasts you have to kill that both count as 1 boss, each have so much HP you spend 10-15 min chipping away at them while they have some other mechanic to them that slows down your DPS while not having a snowballs chance in hell of actually killing you (one keeps spamming AoE fear while the other drops huge chilled fields all over).
I would rather have an end-boss with fairly high HP (~10 min worth of fighting) and mini-bosses with not so much HP (~5min worth of fighting), but with more danger of actually getting my character killed if I make a mistake.
I’m fairly sure if they just made the dungeons less of a snooze-fest and more fun, people would be perfectly happy with them (for the most part).
PS: Sure, there are a few explorer paths that can be farmed in 20-30 min runs, but those WILL get boring after 50+ runs, making it very grindy which from what I understood was not what ANET had in mind when making GW2.
EDIT: I’d just like to say that the most fun I’ve had in a dungeon so far in GW2 was in the Mursaat path of Explorable Arah. Although it took us a good 2 and a half hours to clear it, we had a lot of fun. However, the few tokens we got and a few silver hardly makes it worth running that dungeon again, when it takes that long to complete it.

PLEASE ANET, DO NOT IMPLEMENT AN AUTOMATIC LFG TOOL LIKE WOW HAD/HAS.
What happens with a system like that is that there is no accountability for anyone, because you’re basically forced to keep playing with the group, or leave and get a penalty for leaving. Also, chances are you’ll never be grouped up with them again (at least not in the foreseeable future, and by that time you’ll likely have forgotten about them).
The ONLY thing ANET needs to do to fix this is to let us join/leave a server-wide LFG chat channel at will, whenever we want to look for a group.
The current /LFG system doesn’t allow you to actually make a note of WHAT you’re looking for a group for, and that’s why nobody uses it. If they fixed that system to be server-wide and allowed you to make a short note of what you’re LFG for, then that could also be a fix, as well.
I’m melee about 90% of the time in dungeons, even in Explorer Modes (done quite a few CoF, HotW and Arah explorers) without much trouble.
What’s important is to have several AoE regen fields in your group, and preferably have them aimed so that they hit in melee range so you always have regen up. As long as you don’t stand in fires and such, you should be fine.
Also, don’t run an offensive build if you plan on being melee in dungeons, that’s suicide.
Try defensive trait build with Hammer, and you’ll be fine, and you’ll be helping your team plenty with lots of control abilities.
I use Hammer + Sword & Warhorn for WvW, with a defensive shout heal build.
Hammer for combat mostly, and Sword + Warhorn for mobility and cripple removal.
When I’m defending a keep, I swap out Sword & Horn for Longbow or Gun (got both), depending on the situation, and rain death on them from the walls, while occasionally jumping down to hammer away at Fire Rams/Catapults.
If you’re dying to Greatsword Warrior, then you’re doing it wrong.
It is such a gimmick build, played almost exclusively by bad players who can’t pull off a proper build. Dodge their Hundred Blades (you know, the ability that ROOTS the Warrior in place while he flails his sword about). After HB is used, the Greatsword Warrior has NOTHING, and is fairly useless.
Hammer Warrior here, and whenever I meet a Greatsword Warrior in sPvP, I laugh at him while I destroy him.
I’m running Hammer + Mace/shield combo for sPvP, mostly a defensive build with 20 toughness, 30 vitality and 20 in the last one (crit damage and burst damage). That combined with Berserker accessory (with berserker gem) gives me almost 40% crit chance and 60% crit damage, while still having healing shouts, ~23k hp and 1500ish toughness, and a lot of control abilities from the hammer and mace.
I do pretty decent in sPvP for the most part, usually strolling between points to assist whichever point needs help, or defending, as I can survive for quite a while against multiple attackers.
Server alliances are real.
For the last few cycles, my server has been pitted against the same 2 servers, and every time I’ve done WvWvW I’ve seen very strong implications that the other 2 servers have some sort of alliance against my server. Let’s call them Server A and Server B.
For instance, there have been several times when we’ve attacked a fort owned by Server A on the furthest west of the map, my server controlling most of the middle area to the south, Server A controlling the northern part, and all of a sudden we’re sandwiched by Server B who had to run through miles of either one of our territories to get to the keep we’re attacking, just to defend Server A.
Another example; The other day my server had capped a keep from Server A, again pretty much as far away from Server B’s area of control as possible on that map. In this particular case, the keep was Dreadfall Bay, and Server A went and attacked, and held the big wall on the northern side, while Server B attacked from the southern part.
At the end of this little 1v2, me and a few others were the only ones left defending the inner walls of the keep, and I decided to drop down and kill the ram Server B was trying to build outside the gate. I was hitting it for a good 15 seconds before ANYONE on Server B even attacked me, other than a few minor 100s hits from AoE effects.
After a few of these, I jumped down from the wall on the side, ran around behind them and attacked a few of their players, killing 2 of them before anyone on their team realized that “OH WAIT, he’s not from Server A, he’s one of the defenders! kill him!”.
Before that little 1v2 I wasn’t 100% sure that those 2 servers had an alliance against my server, but now I am 100% sure.
The real question is, can anything actually be done about this sort of shady play, mechanic-wise, or is this just something we have to deal with?
Would love to hear from ANET on this.
Been having this really annoying bug/glitch/error, whatever you wanna call it, where all of a sudden while playing, I start hearing this annoying “ooooOOOOOooooOOOOOoooooOOOOOooooooOOOOOO” sound which loops infinitely until I shut down the client.
It sounds like some kind of warning alarm or something, but I don’t get any actual errors or anything else than that really loud and annoying sound.
I’ve tried turning the master volume of the client down to 0%, but it doesn’t affect it.
Would really appreciate getting this fixed, as it’s very annoying having to either play with that sound wailing, or restart the client, which means that if I’m playing WvWvW I’ll have to queue up again.
