This week tally of 1v1’s I had a bunch of wins 0 losses and 1 stalemate with a d/p thief with a worthless troll build that couldn’t kill a rabbit.

Offer still stands @ 20G for anyone who beats me 1v1 Best Of 5. No surprise that 0 people from Dragonbrand have made an attempt on this offer yet!

Has nothing to do with whether or not I think I’d beat you, but I don’t want to bother trying to “prove” myself to someone as arrogant and poor of a sport as you are.

I suspect other roamers on DB feel similarly, and don’t plan to stoop low enough to fuel what is nothing more than an ego boost on your part.

AOE loot wasnt brought in for WvW (but still welcome). The siege refresh timer was artifical to begin with: it’s still a welcome change, but if you honestly believe it took 10 months for them to change it, then i have these magical rocks for sale…

Apparently you’re being held hostage to being the public face of WvW decisions. This may or may not be true, but it does reek of someone more senior copping out.

Here’s the thing though.. You’re doing a fine job of at least talking to the WvW community, and for the first 6 months after the release, that’s more then we ever got any attention from. I think the new WvW traits are working out just fine (except for copping out to the AC complaints.. The meta game was adjusting just fine but then you still caved and nerfed it).

With that aside, I’m now stuck with what will no undoubtedly seem like a whinging thread. I’ve been playing since day 1, and until recently when it came to WvW, it’s felt that I’ve had certain parts of my male anatomy slapped into a vice, and then had the handle cranked over to ‘tear inducing’. That’s right, I play on a server that is outwomanned in it’s ‘night crew’ timezone. Funny thing is, is that when I play, it’s already night, locally.

I am an Oceanic.

I am an Oceanic that didn’t join the ‘unofficial’ oceanic server. On purpose.

I am an Oceanic that after most match ups, wonders if there is something broke about the whole outwomanned mechanic. Not because I think it’s OP, but instead because I think it’s broken, as I watch 10 active players, and 20 inactive players at the forges get rolled by 40+

I’ll get back to that… after all it’s nothing we’re not all familiar with is it?

So here I am, out-kittened on my own home map, with the only help available an NPC that goes to 2 out of 6 possible locations. ‘hey guys, we own everything on the map, so the hostiles will either have to go to NW or NE towers with the NPC, but that’s ok.. we have the garrison inbetween both’

OK fine, that’s not how I run things, but there’s plenty of other servers who do. and its just a direct play into the enemies loot log.

But here’s what really rubs me up the wrong way. You’re outwomanned and yet you still kill half the group that rushes through what they presume is an undefended gate. Awesome, you’ve just reduced the odds back down to 2:1. Oh wait.. they brought enough numbers that they can practically insta-revive people. Wonderful.

You did say dev’s play WvW right? I’d love to know what it feels like when you kill a significant number of players whilst completely outnumbered (ie you used skill to kill them), just to watch them revive each other (often whilst you’re dead without hope of a revive yourself)

Ok so lets get to the meat of the subject: my proposals that you must instantly agree to implement, otherwise Anet is the literal spawn of satan:

1) Block fully-dead revives in hostile territory (ie you don’t own it). This can be a permanent buff, or a guild consumable. No revives from dead if you didn’t capture the territory you’re in. Use the same radius as all other guild buffs. Instant zerg leveling measure that requires the zerg to.. well.. not suck. and I could code that in my sleep. No excuses.

2) Don’t reward the zerg. All of the recent mastery traits in WvW.. can you imagine what the game would be like if they all began with: “whilst outmanned…”. Instead I’m faced with 4 trebs being insta-built to 1 (if I’m lucky).

3) Don’t charge gem’s to transfer down. Ok fine Kaineng (or the people who transfered there) ruined this one, but why should we all suffer to try and balance the servers? As far as I am concerned, transferring to the top 6 servers should cost double what it does now. If you want to transfer downwards, then it should be free. With guesting, there is literally no reason to charge money to transfer servers unless you’re trying to milk WvW populations. You want balance? then let people filter downward.

4) WXP points: ouch, that was a swing and a miss. Attackers get more points then defenders. You’re encouraging the zerg again. Where are the points for a defender who has no supply left? He’s getting hit by a treb from a tower he cant hope to recapture. He’s outmanned but he’s standing at the hole in the wall. Sorry buddy, but you’re so kittened that your kittens haven’t even begun to realise how much mew’ing they have to do.

5) Here’s the bonus points for anyone reading this far in: I am dreaming. Devon is a welcome addition to the community, but here’s a simple test. Name the last feature the community as a whole went “now, please” and has made it into the game.

Sorry Maguuma, rumors of my death are vastly over exaggerated. I was paid a significant amount to not play this week by a DB oceanic commander. I was expressly forbidden to even look at the WvW score on penalty of forfeit of the payment.

Usually I wouldn’t even contemplate this, but I was honestly moved by the heart felt plea to not cost DB any more in repair bills. I might have even shed a tear it was so moving… ok fine it was just a kitten load of moolah But honestly I can understand the position, if DB doesn’t outnumber someone 3:1 then they enter the death spiral of participation and who wants DB to suffer the realization that they are nothing more then walking loot bags. Money well spent i think

Quite a bit more than 2%, actually, that’s just the most likely way we’ll end up matching up with them if it happens. I don’t have it add up which individual servers are most likely to be faced (maybe I should). Full list here.

I’ll probably stop posting the “top matchups” they just tend to be misleading – a 4% top matchup means there’s a 96% chance any OTHER matchup will happen. There’s just too many possibilities to say who anyone’s going to face with any certainty, T1/8 excepted.

To the FA who didn’t stop playing this week just because ‘we already won’: you might have been farmed by maguuma a few times (ok fine, a lot of times), but you’re 100x better then the guys who only play to win.

To the oceanics on both FA and KN: if you’re sick of being the meatshield to a horrible attempt at taking SM (ps we were outmanned the whole time, video coming soon..) and youre wondering why Maguuma can react quicker then you (the only reason we can do above said farming).. then please. don’t transfer. stay right where you are :>

we took DB garrison while 30+ TFV were at west keep/ sw camp. regardless of whether or not it is your prime time, you had lots of ppl on that map and failed to notice it being contested.

This is actually during EU time, where we have no dedicated guilds and during weekdays somewhere between 5 and 30 people playing total. This is the weekend though so we just took the garri back. Good job getting it! Mag should have you organize a push into your own garri as well.

Also for future reference, its easy to tell what primetime it is based on what DB guilds are on. None? EU! CO, BP, AGG, EA, RE, TG, rB, FIRE, (ok ima stop listing guilds at this point : P)? NA! OMEN? Oceanic! TW, NNKOclock? SEA!

We do not have around the clock coverage yet, but we have very strong NA and SEA coverage still. EU time is a good time to organize pushes against us. Even though we only have one Oceanic guild they are pretty awesome.

You know its funny, i see all these decent people posting from DB, and yet they are all the recent transfers. It honestly seems like these people have no idea about their new home server yet, especially the oceanic zerg. I’ve gone up against DB many times since launch (im an oceanic commander), I’ve defended a west keep attack from DB for 7 hours successfully whilst outmanned, and until about 3 months ago, that would be about the norm for DB. Then all of a sudden DB realized they could literally DPS the door down without siege; Thats right, the zerg becomes so large, it turns into it’s own siege engine. DB stopped being a server to me then and just became a joke (kaineng is a lot like DB was at the beginning of the blob war too now, but they’ve lost the experienced guys I think).

So please, people of DB.. dont misunderstand this thread being full of DB hate. Its more disdain then anything else. You’ve got the population to be t1 and easily win, but the mentality of something far far less.

I’m laughing at those people trying to justify the hacks that Dragonbrand employed last night. Multiple people on multiple arrow carts and catapults shooting in impossible places. It took us on SBI a good minutes to figure out it was a DB catapult in the tunnel under SE tower that was taking out our lord’s room siege by shooting directly upwards. I wish our catapult blueprints included that feature.

Not to mention the DB AC’s under supply huts being able to target objects through the supply hut roof, through the wall, and over the bridge at Hills. Tell me again how SBI is supposed to counter that without hacking ourselves? And we’ve seen cheating, we’ve played against CD. But it’s pretty much unanimous that we’ve never seen a huge portion of an enemy zerg cheat so blatantly.
So now we know how DB got it’s Tier 2 status. Shame, this week could have been fun even if SBI lost at every turn, but to loss to cheating by rampant and blatant hackers is another thing.
It’s one thing for a few bad apples in a zerg to ruin the match. It’s another when the zerg is full of them. Kodus to Dragonbrand, fielding and defending hacks takes a special kind of skill.

Until last night I had no idea this kind of stuff even existed but kitten did I get a crash course in hacking and cheating. We watched our trebs get eaten by AC from down the side of a suicide cliff (so tall fall damage would kill you) we realized that something was up. Normal players cant zoom their camera back far enough to land those shots..

It’s like he said we didn’t expect to come out on top, but all we wanted was the opportunity to fight it out in a fair and balanced setting. This is really discouraging and disappointing.

and now you know what DB is all about. The tinfoil brigade on kaineng had no idea when they accused us of hacking.. with DB it’s either hack or blob (mostly blob). Yet to see them use tactics beyond ‘more!’

PS that ~6 hour defence of our West Keep almost breaks the all time record, which belongs to another oceanic zerg (db) which topped out at 7 hours i think (and we didn’t lose it then either). Maybe next time

Epic fight in Mag BL Bay as well. You can always trust Mag to throw everything including the kitchen sink when doing defense.

Also had fun fighting Yak’s Bend for Outlook Keep earlier as well. We kept running back to contest the Lord’s Room.

We lost hills at the same time as the Bay fight was going on (about 2 hours in out of 6). Heavily outnumbered, topped off with arrow cart glitching through walls. Not our preferred way of losing it.

It’s pretty sad, a lot of the time I was the only commander on a map holding out against a decently sized force, and nobody would react and we’d lose everything. It’s more sad than anything, as a side not it’d be hard to stand in an enemy zerg without being dogpiled, considering I had like a 30g bounty on my head. I know I died a few times in an enemy group when we wiped and I wouldn’t turn off my tag, but that’s purely to use the tag as a beacon for other commanders, considering the second I’d die I’d be told I did this because I’m a spy and obviously if you’re not a spy you can’t die. But if you want to continue under the pretence I was there to ruin all your fun because I’m a very mean pixie, so be it. I dealt with being harassed for nearly a month just to play with some friends, who stopped playing. I had the worst experience I’ve had for wvw just because of the attitude of some people. Frankly I’m just glad I’m home now so I don’t have to deal with the kittybomb every time I play, even roaming solo I got called a freaking spy by like the one other guy on the map.

It’s ok Col, the lesson learnt here is next time to post a bunch of drivel up & have a hissy fit in a forum thread for a week or so, and then kain will welcome you to their server. It makes for a great cover story and everyone falls for it

It appears mag is trying to artificially boost Kain to rank 2 past Yaks. I say this because Mag has been attacking only Yak territory while ignoring Kain territory. So much so that Kain is pushing into Mag territory with zero resistance.
On Kain BL mag has skipped their own greenlake tower and went straight to take redbriar from Yaks. A little while later Mag is sitting on all Yaks territory in EB while ignoring Kain’s side of EB completely.

Yaks and Kain were tied this morning with 270 pts each tick and as of now Kain is at 230pts (Mag has to have SM) and Yaks is as low as 125 pts. Our populations are of comparable size but Mag is chewing up Yaks while propping up Kain.

We focus YB 100% of the time, obvs.

That screenshot is old, 3-4 days old. Just look at the points, this screenshot was taken when Mag had just gotten far ahead of the other two worlds, at the time when the southsun event started. So it’s no surprise that servers can take everything.

I’m talking about today, the last day before reset. Mag slammed Yaks this morning and virtually ignored Kain.

Take it from a maguuma commander; You need a new reason to justify your score. This isn’t picking on the weak guy.
To the rest of the guys in Yaks, keep bringing it, and don’t let this guy dictate how your server rolls.

I’m just saying it was a little too coincidental given the circumstances and kain losing ground to yaks but yaks losing all other ground to mag. If Yaks is pushing back Kain with ease, and Kain still has a ton of territory, I don’t see why Mag wouldn’t just swoop in and take it all.

Mag capped 60% of Yak territory in a few hours and didn’t even touch Kain territory during that time ._.

Ya who Mag picks on is out of both of our hands. Whoever Mag wants to take 2nd place will take 2nd place it seems. Feels like a puppet.

With the recent events happening with Jade Quarry and possibly being the next high tier server to implode, has Maguuma started receiving inquiries regarding their server. I know some are flocking to DB, but since you guys are winning by a lot you may be the next server for the bandwagoners. Lord knows they don’t bandwagon to losing servers to try balance things out.

According to the tier 1 thread, PYRO is moving to BG or JQ within 2 weeks.

It appears mag is trying to artificially boost Kain to rank 2 past Yaks. I say this because Mag has been attacking only Yak territory while ignoring Kain territory. So much so that Kain is pushing into Mag territory with zero resistance.
On Kain BL mag has skipped their own greenlake tower and went straight to take redbriar from Yaks. A little while later Mag is sitting on all Yaks territory in EB while ignoring Kain’s side of EB completely.

Yaks need Eurozone players more. Kain needs a bit more balance all around. Mag definitely doesn’t need a new wave, they are still over bloated from the last bandwagon.

Nobody in their right mind would consider joining mag right now. This thread is the very reason to be looking at joining kain or yaks.

Ignore what appears to be his very mental fabric unravelling in this thread, and ignore the fact that military members with the blue taco apparently use it as a reason to substitute the lack of rank in real life. I’m sure he’s a stand up guy.

Usually I will leave the forums alone and just chuckle at the shenanigans, but I found your post to be particularly precious, and so I find myself inclined to post a reply.

Allow me to introduce myself: I am the aforementioned SEA commander in your post. I have the pleasure of commanding our forces during oceanic time throughout the week. If you come across a commander in those times, there’s a good chance it’s me (weekends are another matter. I play for fun, not because its a chore).

Regarding your very thinly veiled accusations that I might be either using or encouraging the use of hacks on our server: I’m both flattered and amused; Maguuma has a history of being massively out-manned during oceanic since day 1, but what few people we have during this time have become (thanks to the community mumble) a force to be reckoned with (granted, some times that force is immobile and needs a good shouting at to get things moving again, but lets not quibble).

So now we get to the part of the post where I need to somehow ridicule your post, yet not get myself banned. A bigger challenge then you might think!

Now to the meaty bits!

This was very clear to us as we assaulted Kaineng Hills to take it back again. This time, instead of 1-2 hours, it took 15mins.

So because all the ‘hackers’ were afraid, all of a sudden we can’t defend? Not quite. It was paper. No upgrades. 500 supply and we were outmanned. The day before, it had a waypoint and 1700 supply. Are you telling me that the 2 assaults were equivalent?

Here’s the recap/reality of what happened last night. We took your garrison and east keep in quick succession. I made the call that seeing as we just removed 2 of your waypoints, that you’d go to west and try and hold the last one. I told my guys to forget west, and head to the north towers but we got to garrison as the kain zerg arrived. Oops.

Knowing fine well that the outer was a lost cause, we grabbed what supply there was and did what we always do: Instead of thinking inside the box, we picked up the box, threw it away and came up with new ideas. We were still experimenting with placements as you guys were knocking the walls down. We found some new spots that worked very well and the fact that someone reported it as being a ‘zoomhack’ when it was totally legit means its going on my list of ‘placements to induce rage’ list. Thanks for beta testing. I have pictures of the positions. Any GM is welcome to request them. Not you though Sol, I don’t think we’ve extracted quite enough QQ yet.

After we lost the garrison to the inevitable red tide, we had precisely 5 minutes before you arrived at east keep. Again, 500 supply, no upgrades, no siege and outmanned. Please insert the most derogatory comment you can come up with here as a reaction to how the hell you think a keep so freshly taken that the lords corpse is still steaming compares to one which was fully upgraded, fully stocked and pre-sieged.

Now here’s the ironic part. I realise Sol won’t believe anything said from here on in (reality sucks I know), but the AC’s outside the lord room were not because we were frightened of being recorded (far from it, I look fantastic in HD), but because someone else took initiative whilst I tried to figure out a counter to the zoomhack AC’s that kain used to take the fully upgraded keep the night before (oh wow they trebbed the AC’s, who saw that coming??).

Yep, the very thing that we’re accused of cheating at. After 2 hours, someone in Kain threw caution to the wind, and put an AC directly against the wall across from the waypoint in the corner, and used it to kill all the inner siege. The entire Kain blob was 3 seconds behind when that happened. I wasn’t recording, thinking I was wasting my time. Thanks to your posting Sol however, I’ve decided to change my ways, become vigilant and actively record all exploits I see.

What is particularly ironic about this, is that after we got zoom hacked we went and tested it on our borderlands. Whilst we couldn’t achieve the same thing, we were able to prove that you could indeed tweak the camera to fire inside where you had no rights to be able to. You may not have noticed it last night when taking the paper keep, but there was a commander dead outside the lord room (me). I wonder if anyone on Kain found it strange that a commander would suddenly rush outside, on his own, in what appeared to be a useless suicide… Unfortunately, in a stroke of bad luck even I can’t believe, i managed to stuff up capturing the evidence whilst lying there. Welp.

All of the above can easily be collaborated with the people on mumble, but for a neutral 3rd party, you can check with the Yak spy who’s usually on there (hes so cute, we just want to keep him).
