try using celestial amulet. will make things ALLOT tankier:)

i have been using 6161 myself for almost 2 weeks now, but in a little different setup.

my advise: swap torch with focus. take burn on block instead of purity.(this is enough burn uptime together).

i myself use hammer + sigil of intel but thats ur choise ofc.

i dont think it works like that?

They revise the needed rank points for each level. which means that some1 on rank 55 will hit rank 80 1 time. Some1 who is rank 70 has done maby 1 mill more rank points, so he will keep hitting rank 80 over and over for 1 mill/ x needed for r80?

First one is pure damage 10/30/30/0/0 and it’s okay if your team babysits you. Conditions will eat you up though.
Your third one is the classic 10/5/30/5/20 Trip Med. That one works. None of the PVT specs will put out enough damage or are tanky enough to be considered.
Selfless Daring only really goes with Clerics.

For more crits, use 5 Eagle 1 Divinity. Ogre Runes are okay.

dont use eagle, use rune of the ranger.

the 5th bonus is bugged(maby it gets fixed next patch?) and gives a perma 5% dps buff. IMO the best crit rune available

Honestly I think the only one of the new grandmaster trait that could make any kind condition spec viable on Guardian is the new Radiance trait that turns retaliation into condition damage. I’m basing this on the fact that Anet said that Retaliation with this trait scales better with condition damage then power mean that it’s possible that a proper specced Guardian’s retaliation would hurt a lot making a tanky condition specced Guardian viable in sPvP and WvW. Burning would only be secondary though, primary damage would have to come from retaliation or else this spec would fall flat and be ignored.

The reason why retaliation could only be this powerful with a condi-switching trait is that while retaliation scales off powers your primary damage also goes up meaning that it would be unfair to hit a Guardian and receive a ton of damage while he’kittenting you like a trunk so they nerfed Retaliation’s damage to be only minor opposite of this trait so you barely notice it half the time.

However since condition damage is so weak on a Guardian, Retaliation’s damage scaling can be pushed to the extreme to make it a very powerful threat against an opponent meaning they would have to decide to either hit a guardian and take a ton of damage or hold back so they can recover which would be amazing on a bunker build in sPvP.

In conclusion, I think the Retaliation Grandmaster trait has been woefully underestimated. It could turn bunker Condi-Guardian into a thing that would be interesting build to run since most of the damage would actually come from your opponent hitting you.

they said it will scale better then power, yes. why? you can easely have 2000 power in a dps build, but an avarage condi build has only 1000-1300 condi damage. thats why it HAS to scale better. it doesnt mean it will hit more.

3 sec burn on block(trait + sigil + 50% burn duration), 5 blocks on a row, 1k burn per block, 5k damage per sec for3 seconds. how is this viable xD

nice video and quallity, what do you use to record?
I liked watching it but to bad its all hotjoin stuff, i didnt see 1 enemy use the dodge button. i would really enjoy it more if you do toerneys and show ur actions there:)

so a warrior(main dps class) will get healed while taking damage,
a gaurd(main bunker class) will get healed while attacking.

I understand the fact they are trying to buff dps gaurds, but wouldnt it be more locigal if it was the other way around? In this way the bunker gaurds have a very nice heal to use to so they can actualy tank all the damage( lets say while rezzing someone) and absorb the damage into heal.

i think it will be a little to OP for a dps guard.

26 sec cooldown 7k instant heal
5 sec long healing while dpsing
its instant

thats 1k less then our signet( but with lower cooldown its the same)
almost double the heal of shelter(lower cooldown with trait, heal from dps)

Its nice to see you are trying to make a condi/dps build work, because im also doing the same and i kinda got bored with the standard dps build or bunkering instead.

I tried MANY different builds, including yours to get max condi damage. What i concluded out of all these builds, is that max condi damage wont work as a guard because once ppl know how your build works, its easy to counter it.

right now im playing condi dps to, but with different gear.
these are my stats in spvp atm. you can take off the 150 armor i get from strength in numbers if you dont use it.

i got 900 condi damage, which is the right numer imo. the condi’kitten hard enough to take ppl down together with my high dps. 2.9k attack combined with 47% crit chance, + fury on burn(so 67% most of the times), gives me constant bleed on enemys up to 3 stacks. so more condi’s then going full condi damage build + constant critical hits which hit allot more(minimum +50% dps) then normal attacks.

i use this in soloQ (and teamQ if it fits our team) and i have allot of fun with it + works well if we have a bunker guard in the team.

how about a (grandmaster) trait: make all teleports have ground targeting. like judge’s intervention and flashing blade. that would be a nice mobility add to guardians.

and its also posible to use it for merciful intervention, but only heal the ally when you port in a xx radius away from him.

2650 armor with strength in numbers, 2900 power 47% crit and 905 condi damage which makes burn hit 555, bleed ~90 and poison 150(sigils). and i also have 50% burn duration

Bring me the condi buffs anet:D make me burn for more

(edit) im sad to see shattered aegis go tho, it was a nice 3 sec burn(1900 dps) (+ 1.5 sec because it blocks which will still remain)

so there definitely is a possible power condi guard build.

Tanky and supportive guardians are in a strong position in many gametypes. We do feel that damage guardians are not as powerful as they could be. While we don’t want guardians to be as strong offensively as some of the other classes (given their powerful defensive abilities) we opened up more offensive guardian builds.

  • Zeal V – Shattered Aegis. Damage instead of Burning.
  • Zeal VII – Zealous Blade. This trait now scales with Healing power (2%.)
  • Zeal XII – Kindled Zeal. Increased conversion from 10% to 13%.
  • Radiance V – Searing Flames. Reduced cooldown from 20s to 10s.
  • Radiance X – Powerful blades. Increased damage from 5% to 10%.
  • Valor V – Retributive Armor. Increased conversion rate from 5% to 7%.
  • Honor VI – Pure of Heart. Increased scaling with Healing power from 25% to 40%.
  • Virtues VIII – Supreme Justice. Number of attacks going from 4 to 3.
  • Symbol of Swiftness: This skill now applies 4 seconds of swiftness per pulse, rather than 8 seconds if you have no swiftness and 1 second if you have swiftness.

Mr. Peters,

Very positive changes. Though if you want my opinion, regardless of the kindled zeal change it still won’t be used. Its not that condition damage isn’t good rather guardian only has access to one condition: Burning. So investing in condition damage feels like a waste of investment.

Some possible changes would be: Power is converted to Vitality, Power is converted to healing power, Power is converted to toughness.

Searing Flames = Good change
Powerful Blades = Good change
Zealous’s Blade = Good change

The rest of the changes don’t seem like it will change guardian too much to be noticeable. I don’t want to go off subject to much, but it would of been great if spirit weapons were made viable. The traits are split through out 3 different trait lines, the spirit weapons themselves are lackluster aside from shield.

I always felt if they were made viable then guardian would have more damage options while wielding the hammer and sword. Even before the change that made them no longer invulnerable they sucked, after the change they were even worse.

Looking at the awesome art of guardian wielding spirit weapons makes me sad, because the class never really uses them due to how they are implemented.

I totaly agree with this. Right now im playing with a (spvp) burning/dps build, with 1200 condi damage. I love the burn damage , but you can just feel the missing 2nd damaging condition like bleed or poison. I understand Shattered Aegis is being turned into normal damage, even tho i liked the 3 second burn(1900 damage) in my current burn build.

If we had acces to even 1 bleed/poison condi in our traits, it would make dps gaurds much more viable. Maby you could do this by changing the trait:

Symbolic Exposure, symbols apply vulnerability to apply bleed/poison or
Blind exposure, inflicting blindless aplies vulnerability into again bleed/poison or
A fire inside, spirit weapons cause burning into bleed/poison.

If you do plan on keeping burn the only condi as a guard, buffing Kinded zeal from 10 to 13% is to low to be noticeable imo. With 3% giving extra 80-90 condi damage, thats a 15-20 extra dps per tick. which is nothing. It Is a nice trait if you change it from grandmaster to Zeal, so you can spend the extra 10 trait points into radiance to boost up the condi damage a bit more.

Beside these 2/3 changes, the rest is an ok buff to some of the dps builds, but to small to be effective in tpvp. After hearing from others how the rest of the classes are only getting nerfed, im glad you decided to buff the guardian dps after a long time:)

it heals two times when MF is traited and 3 times with an ally to heal. Just tested it once in orr but that is what i saw.

I dont get the heal numbers on screen but if i check my healthpool with 4 resp 6 k less health its filled up when i use it.

So basically 6k heals in the guardian. Feels adequate due to its dodgy behavior :-)

So screw the fact it’s meant to heal your team mates, it’s actually a fairly powerful secondary heal skill with random mobility effects

Further testing in the mists with 300 HP reveals:

  • without Ally, with MF = 1xheal from MI and 1xheal from MF = 4220 Healing
  • with Ally, with MF = 2xheal from MI and 1xheal from MF = 6360 Healing
  • without Ally, without MF = 1xheal from MI = 2140 Healing
  • with Ally, without MF = 1xheal from MI = 2140 Healing

Given that it’s MI proc’ing twice, I wonder if the Ally receives double the heal too

well that explains allot, i was wondering why suddenly my health was going up that much:D means with my 1300 HP i get 2740 + 2740 + 2500 = 8k heal xD

dont forget that 5% of 150 toughness is only 7.5 extra precision, which is less then 1% crit chance.

if you look at kinded zeal( 10% of ur power converted to condition damage), increasing ur attack with mightstacks does give you extra condition damage.

i didnt check if the presicion goes up with 7-8, but it might work but to little to change the %.

i dont think having a stack of 3 aegis(5 might be op)will be to strong , since right now u can pop 3 aegis while fighting too. passive virtue of courage, active courage, retreat. But having a stack of 3 will make some traits more usefull like the 20% extra damage, since u have at least 1 second cast time with aegis on. and having 3 aegis is blocking 3 hits, i dont think this will be very OP.

Having a grandmaster trait which makes signets instant, would bring some attention to the radiance traitline. having an instant heal, knockdown or immobilize would make signets more usefull in my opinion. It will also make the signet of mercy, revive a nearby ally, usefull in (s)pvp. The 3.5 sec cast time right now makes it uneffective to use. As a gaurdian i think we should also have this instant rezzing ability, since mesmer/necro can rez for a few seconds, and ranger/engi can rez you very quick.

Radiance will be used more, and we will get an alternative build to use since signets can improve healing and reduce incomming damage when its passive, and give nice abilities when u activate it in a bunker build. And also give some nice extra dps/ immobilize and knockdown in dps builds.

the only 2 traits which are worth using in the Radiance line (for me) are atm signet mastery/ right-handed strength. Some other traits are usefull, but not worth spending points on instead of other traitlines.

I believe aegis, which is a big and important part of our virtues, should be stackable.
This way the virtue of courage can stack every 40 (or 30) seconds passive, and we can stack aegis together with other utilities(retreat)/ renewed focus.

Doing so, the trait indomitable courage will be more usefull together with unscathed contender. Putting a stacklimit of 5 stacks will give you some nice blocks and also the ability to make use of the 20% extra damage while undef effect of aegis. The problem right now is that you barely have aegis uptime during any fight so this becomes an useless trait.

A stackable aegis will make the traitline virtues even more usefull. It will also give some nice posibillities in ur build with “give … when an aegis you apllied is removed”, which can burn/heal/give retaliation on every Aegis.

Stacking 5 aegis sounds like you have to stand still for 1-2 minutes before every fight to get some stacks, but there are different ways to get aegis. valorous defense gives aegis when health reaches 50%, Protective reviver gives aegis when u revive an ally or from Superior Rune of the Monk( When you use an elite skill you and all nearby allies gain Aegis for 30 seconds).

Since gaurdians have a low health pool and is designed to avoid damage instead of tank allot of damage, i think having this posibility will make a gaurdian better in doing its job and give a little build diversity to focus on blocking allot of the incomming damage(for you and ur allies).

would like to hear the opinions of u fellow gaurdians.

also i got sigil of perception on my weapons, 49% crit chance with 25 stacks

sigil of perception on gs, with 25 stacks i get like ~50% crit chance

with scepter/shield i got:

2835 attack
37% crit chance
3323 armor
19055 hp

sigil of perception + accuracy (+5%) crit change. so with 25 stacks i get ~55% crit chance
