Legendary Ranger, Simon
What if I throw all my traps around me including healing spring and blow that horn?
Legendary Ranger, Simon
I see that this stealth will help me a whole lot. You have no idea how many times I have died, being only 3 seconds away for my healing skill to recharge. This is really good for us.
As a LB user, we need to be at range. By the time a thief/warrior comes up to us, we can push them back with (4), but it won’t last long until they’ll be back. The new (3) will give us the tool to run away and get back at our range.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Arcade Fire, no one is shouting you down. I don’t think anyone did. The whole hype is really about the new possibilities that was just open to the Rangers with this new stealth shot. I have been a Longbow ranger since GW1 (meaning even in GW2, my main weapon has always been Longbow).
Yes, you are right that we are losing our DPS, which I have stated on another post, but I really suggest you try this new Hunter Shot out and see what you can come up with. Improvise, Ranger! When an opportunity arises, do not fear it (the changes), face it >=) Be the Ranger.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Yes, someone try that and return the result please. =) Curiosity kills me. Anyways, I think we overlooked one of a positive change. The warhorn’s new finisher. Healing spring + finisher.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
I think it was mainly the fact that they can “burst” dozens of combo in less than 2 seconds, and Backstab does lots of damage. The stealth, atm, is all about survival and putting on another stack of vuln on our target (open strike). Survival is good thing for glass canon, like you said. =b
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Don’t be like that. We have more, I think, positive changes than negative. Lets stick with this for a few days and see what we can come up with.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Imagine stealth + throwing traps. I am more than confident you will not go out of stealth by throwing traps.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
As a PvPer, this is a great change, agreed Ultravalefor. I sometime forget to separate PvE and PvP mindset.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
1800 range stealth is underpowered.
I’m confused… what? Are you saying that you used Hunter Shot’s new stealth effect at a range of 1800? Are you mad? Keep that for close range so you can run away.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Darkace, ignore the attackers =)
My only advice to you is to try it out for a day or two and work around it. Who knows, you might find it much more useful in the end. Improvise, Ranger. If you don’t like it afterward, then lets go back on this and cry. If other rangers agree, A-net might do something about it.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
See Necro Rennoko? The community is already becoming chaotic! But fear not, this is common. The Elite Rangers and I will do our best to help restore their hope. That is what it means to be a Ranger >=(
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Rapid Fire just needs a flat out increase in damage. It’s a 4.5 sec channel that does less damage than the autoattack at long range. For a 4.5 sec channel it’s also pretty bad damage compared to other channeled skills.
Ssssssssh saying things like this will make them nerf the autoattack to make rapid fire appear more attractive. :P
Hahah! Good one!
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Ranger NakedNullpo, I assume you missed my edit.
edit: After discovering that Maul = 3 stacks of vuln, I take whatever I just posted all back. Good luck, GS-Rangers.
I want you to know, Nullpo, that your absent will have a great negative impact on your fellow Rangers. Reconsider. =)
Legendary Ranger, Simon
You are not short-sighted. The question is, do you really want to change SB at all? SB has lots of conditions on it plus the swiftness. What would you like to replace? I see SB more usage for condition build and it would be pointless putting Stealth there.
Stealth in Longbow is preferred due to being able to combine vuln-stack with rapid shot, leaving number 3 clearly available. Furthermore, the advantage is being able to use Barrage without being detected (or at least the beginning of it). Long bow, we are at distant. WE need to be at distant, and stealth will give us 3 seconds to run away from close range to be back at distant. Nice right?
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Gentlmen. Let us not fuss and russ about one nerf. As a Ranger, I ask of you to steel your mind and improvise! No matter how high the mountains or deep the sea, US Rangers are capable of overcoming it.
ps) But complain on the forum so that A-net can hear your cries and fix this. I don’t use GS so I won’t cry. hehe >=)
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Lol! GS is doomed! I take my words back about Vuln better than bleed on GS.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Necroman Rennoko. Come back and say it after the patch. I highly doubt we just gain throne over one stealth.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Ranger NakedNullpo, why do you give up hope over 1 change of GS? This patch give us the possibilities of trying and developing new builds for our fellow Rangers. I thought the vuln over bleed is better since I use auto-attack majority of time (due to its 3rd hit dodging) anyways, increasing the output of my damage on my target. I find it to be much more effective compare to the bleed. But as I said before (June 25 patch? Forgot the day), do not ever give up. That what it means to be a Ranger. -_-
edit: After discovering that Maul = 3 stacks of vuln, I take whatever I just posted all back. Good luck, GS-Rangers.

Good post, Burnfall. Just don’t get too high hopes. According to the way of life (or should i say, gw2 patches), the favorable winds can make an instant U-turn on the next patch.
About uniting with A-net, I am a Ranger. I work alone -_-\/
Legendary Ranger, Simon
It doesn’t affect us offensively is debatable. Like Racta says, Remorseless + Opening strike can help us a lot. Not to mention, vulnerability per opening strike.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Your pet sacrifice never went in vain, Raven. -_- it died so that someone else may live.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
-_- nevermind.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Guess no one likes my joke. -_- I never had that much humor anyways.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Pet: Logan Thackery. Think of all the possiblity with his F2. Joke of course
Legendary Ranger, Simon
I understand, Atherakhia. I am aware that these updates alone are not going to let us be at par with others, but it is a positive step forward. Just improvise and we can get somewhere. Don’t overdo it before we hear “RANGER OP! NERF!” =b
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Just creating this post to ask how you see stealth could be used effectively.
Since I am more of a dps-type person, I would use it to mess with my opponent in a battle OR as an escaping tool. There were times when I needed just 3 more seconds before my healing skills would come up. This is definitely going to save our lives a lot.
Beast Master usage. Cripple them using barrage, stack vulnerability on them, and disappear. Your pet can battle them alone. Now here is a curious question. “Whatever buff I get, my pet gets”. Does that include Stealth ? >=)
Trap and survival build (Shortbow longbow). Stack all condition on them, use stealth and throw traps around? Just a thought. Not my style but it’s definitely doable.
Feel free to share. Don’t have to if you have some epic ones. Show it off in battle >=) Good luck, Rangers.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
It would be extremely OP if it was possible though. Good choice. Bryzy, if you can, please try piercing shot with rapid shot and see vulnerable stacks with all units. I want to do AOE Vulnerable to my enemies in pvp. I would appreciate it. =)
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Though I feel that my combo has been struck by the dps:
Hunter shot – 10 vuln for 10 seconds + rapid shot + barrage
I think it is definitely a fair trade.
Since I am busy at the moment (work =b), can someone do me a favor and use piercing shot, use hunting shot on a line of 3 targets, and see if we get 9 seconds of stealth? Would appreciate it. =)
Legendary Ranger, Simon
I’ve been to the Crystal Deserts. Me and 3 of my followers snuck into it once -_- To most people, it is impossible, but for us Rangers, we can do anything.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
You think that is a problem? Read the Bible and tell me how many people who Jesus had helped actually came back to thank him.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
If you are a Ranger and you are asking for portals, you have shamed not only yourself, but your entire family name. I’d be disgusted just by reading your name! /spits on flower
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Everything was usual as always. Bright sunny day inside the game, small little monsters that I can solo, etc.
ALl of a sudden, the world became dark. In some area, rain and thunderstorms could be seen at a great distant! All waypoints were disabled! And the DRAGONS CAME and started to kill everyone!! I was the sole survivor of the world along with some tengu, and we took a ship to Cantha.
Cool dream right? -_-
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Palu. It has been an honor -_- Enjoy what you have left. It’s easier said than done, but laugh until all else fade. Will see you soon my friend >=) I’ll PM you something in a bit. Hope you’ll enjoy it.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
= Storyline sucks
= Don’t like the way we have to level up specifically to level 80 (“More to explore”? I think I’ve explored the world too much already)
= I can’t beat up two of the Guards south of Ebonhawk to sneak through the gate and make it into Crystal Desert… -_- Oh Crystal Desert, I miss you so much. You too west Magumma.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
=X Lol! Good one!
Legendary Ranger, Simon
I don’t know about you little Telly-tubbies Rangers, but I am ashamed to be part of a community that doesn’t see the greatness of a Longbow. I use longbow and I own majority, if not all, of my opponents fairly well. Just give me a damage buff and watch me reap the whirldwind! >=(
Edit: I forgot to tell you how I use a longbow… The idea of a longbow is to keep your opponent at bay (or at a distant). You want to shoot them down from a distant, not coming up to their face and try to do rapid shot. Keep picking them off, and by the time they notice you, they will charge toward you. All you need to do is to use your number 4 skill, shooting them back, and continue the assault. If they come back the second time, take out your S/D, and dance with them. I kill my enemies flawless like this (when they are down and they throw rocks at me, it usually hits me though). 6 dodging abilities is more than enough to keep 3 people busy until your reinforcements come.
PS) This is in PvP of course. I am praised for it all the time. Love getting chased by a zerg just because they hate getting epically defeated. Lastly, I won’t deny that the pet-nerf decreased my ranger’s efficiency by almost 30%.

What are rangers really? Well my friend, you have just asked a powerful question.
1) A ranger must know not only their enemies, but themselves as well.
2) They must stay true and righteous, taking action according to justice! -_-\/
3) They must NEVER fail a jump puzzle: rangers are sly, quick, and too intelligent to fail.
4) They must have keen eyes, not only for shooting down their foes from a great distant, but also using it to spot hidden caves and secret jump puzzles.
5) They must be humble, understanding, and patient (also supporting point (2) about standing for justice).
6) They must be skilled and talented in both range and melee weapon (Excluding magic because spirit sucks).
7) They must be great at evading attacks. Take me for instance, I have a total of 6 dodges by the time any of my foe step up to me, which give me the ability to hold off 3 people at the same time and in some occassion, killing 1 of them before I make my marvelous escape [in pvp of course]
8) They must never lose S…. that’s not an S, that means HOPE according to all Rangers.
Most importantly, they must know all of these rules (1-8) at heart. That, my friend, is what it means to be…. a Ranger… -_-\/ like a G6
The Way of the Ranger,

Good night. And good luck. I know how stressful it is to take care of disabled people. I did it for 6 years + and I know some who have done it for 10+.

Legendary Ranger, Simon
Good boy. Now apologize to the TC for bashing him just because he shared his opinion. And if I may ask, are you at work or something? I notice that you are usually on at this time in the morning.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Okay this is obviously a thread I’ll have to post in yet again, because people CONTINUE to not get it. I dont’ see what’s so hard about this.
If you feel that you have to “post in yet again” then do it. If it feels like a burden, then don’t do it. Let the TC share his opinion. And “people CONTINUE to not get it. I don’t see what’s so hard about this.” Maybe people DOOOOO get it, but DON"T agree with you. You ever thought of that? Would it make you feel better if I say something like: “Oh Vayne, your words are not helpful only to one man, but to the entire community as well!!!!” ? People like you are ignorant and think that whatever you believe is right, and what others believe (or have opinion on) is wrong. And if I recall right, you were one of the few who were against GW2 entirely several of weeks after the release date.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
don’t feel hated on. Some of us happen to be preparing for the 4th of July while others just don’t know the answer to your question. I don’t know the answer to your question so I won’t reply to it, but i can reply to your second question, which is why won’t anyone help you.
Legendary Ranger, Simon
I’ll dress up like my ranger, and bring my pet chihuahua and make her look like a Reindeer! THen I will wield my long bow, and with my trait in Eagle Eyes (or whatever), I will fire my arrow from a distant of 1200 feet at the guy who nerfed my poor pet Chihuahua! Sounds fun to you yet?!
Legendary Ranger, Simon

Understood and well said, Ision.

Increasing level cap = goodbye to remaining GW1 fans.
I disagree, and I say this as “one of the remaining GW1 fans”.
Raising the level cap will mean very-very little to anyone just as long as it does not also include yet another expansion of vertical progression through stat based gear, or a move towards must have classes (trinity model) for dungeons.
Basically, as long as GW2 stays true to the 3 features it marketed itself as for years (low gear grind, horizontal progression and no must have classes for dungeons), then it will be fine. The day it caves in to these, then, then it will be over. But not because the “remaining GW1 fans” will leave, but because the game will have lost it’s uniqueness. And then a whole lotta folks will leave, most especially the folks that came to Gw2 from traditional vertical progression MMOs for the specific purpose of not having to deal with stat based gear progression or the “4 of 5, need healer” nonsense.
I disagree, and I say this as “one of the remaining GW1 fans”.
That is just me though. I don’t like the way I level up in this game. I know several of people who has finished their 6th level 80 toon already, but I, for one, have only done 3. I can’t do the 4th because it’s so dam boring running around and explore the lands that I’ve done exploring. I also know of some people (funny people), who delete their character and redo them with a different profession just because they don’t like how their character look in that specific armor. They complain about how boring it is but are willing to do it for the looks. Very admirable
Legendary Ranger, Simon
Okay Thorn, you’re going overboard. You are expecting TOO much. YOu want a ship to take you to Elona? You think that the game developed their own map in the GW2 graphics? You think they can do this within a year after release when they are focusing on shaping up the core of the game and “Attempting” to fix the glitches and balancing the professions? Stop being a dam baby and grow the HELL up.
I want this, i want that. Go back to GW1 then. I go there sometimes myself as well, but thank goodness I am more realistic than you are with your desires. Hell! There aren’t even done giving you all of Tyria yet! You seen Crystal Desert yet? Western Magumma? Charr land up north? No? Then don’t expect the expansion for another 2+ years. Elona? 4+ because Cantha comes before Elona
Legendary Ranger, Simon
(edited by Simon.3106)
Agreed Draven. I also know why they do this. If they do not, more people will stop playing due to not having any other purpose. But by having this, they have some sort of motivation to come back.
Though waiting for a month just for an update earlier this year was long and tormenting, I actually prefer it. If you are given pudding every 2 weeks instead of every month, it isn’t as appealing anymore. It’s just pudding… nothing special. Waiting for a month for the content, however, when the content finally arrive, there is a big BOOM and people would feel the thrill and excitement of it. Of course, it will only last for a day or two.
The main reason why i don’t like this “tiddy biddy” contents is because I really don’t see its impact on the world. The bridge that leads Gendarren to Lion ARch is still there, that big ape don’t the road is still there, those stupid karka are still roaming around hitting me like a truck load of steel. No impact, how does this convince anyone it is actually a living story?
Legendary Ranger, Simon
(edited by Simon.3106)
Affirmative, Joey. In GW1 (I KNOW! This isn’t GW1! I’m just sharing my thoughts), I like the fact that we work ourselves to level 20 slowly, but right before the main event is served, we are already level 20! It was a thrill! All that was left was to stay strong and focus, search far and wide for elite and rare Skills (using skill caps), purchase stronger armors (rare and unique if preferred its looks), look for stronger weapons with max damage (do more damage with 50% or more health). It was truly the best adventure I have ever had in my gaming life
Legendary Ranger, Simon
And no, Cantha and Elona expansion won’t HAPPEN! >=( At least not yet. Think about it, Tyria has not even been fully revealed yet! Until after they give us the Northern charr land, the crystal desert, the western dense magumma land, and the RING OF FIRE (i forgot the name, haven’t played gw1 in awhile), then we’ll get an expansion.
I have always believed that these living stories were going to open up these gates for us. Anyone been at Ebonhawk lately? South of it is a gate that leads to Crystal Desert. The guards there said we aren’t allow to pass through it yet due to it being dangerous or something.
