I agree, Thorn. I’ve did the living story (Molten Alliance), but the rest I really didn’t care for. I did the Southsun one halfway and got bored and stopped. Didn’t bother with dragon bash and sky pirates, and I happen to be a mega-lore fan. These just don’t spark my interest >=)

I wish they don’t. Honestly, I wish they would’ve decreased it rather than increasing it (but that would break the whole entire game). It is so dam boring getting to level 80! The first 3 toons were fine, but the fourth and onward are stale and redundant. -_- “More to Explore!”

The story I did not like as well. I stopped doing it the moment I joined the vigil. So stupid and boring (I play the human race). My character is like a stupid, slow, un-intelligent guy who happens to made some heroic choices. I find it hard to believe that he would ever be any help of the world. Doesn’t feel like I made any “impacts” with my actions at all.

I wish this as well, but I really doubt it will ever happened. I am too lazy to search for the source, but A-net has already stated that the pet is what differ the Ranger class from every other class, so they will NOT let you remove it permanently. Take my word for it, or call me a liar. It matters not, just informing.

What a pointless topic. Each to their own, but according to everyone who posted here (non-duplicate), it seems that we have more people who AGREES, including myself which is 10+ automatically, outweighs the number of people who DISAGREE that Rangers are suppose to be “archers”.

Let me give you a non-arguable example.
If I want a brute-fighting profession, I’ll play not a Ranger, but a Warrior. If I want a guy with a army full of undead (inspired by MJ – Thriller), I’ll play a necro. If I want to scorch someone and creammate their body and let the ocean have what’s left of them, I’ll play an Elementalist. If I want to play a PALADIN-type character, I’ll play a Guardian. If I want to play an Archer…. who do I play… -_- Good boy, I’ll play a ranger. Anyone with “any logic” would know that.

LOL! Cafard, I understand why you say this. A-net never really can deliver things out too well when we ask for it (usually the complete opposite), but I have to say they did a swell job with the warrior this patch.

If I want to play a class that shoots fire and creammate the body of my enemies, I’ll not go for a warrior, but an elementalist. If I want to have an army of zombies (inspired by M-Jackson – Thriller), I’ll roll with a necro. If I want to be Legolas… I’ll go for a ranger.

Understand for others. They don’t care about rangers being able to use melee weapons, but they do care that rangers sucks with bows incomparison with other classes (Warrior, thief). But honestly, I’m perfectly fine with the way it is. I like my LB =b

Exactly what I was referring to, Ranger Einlanzer. The other classes does not need to disable the autoattack. Why do we have to? Fix the error that I had posted earlier and everything should be fine. Everyone will be happy.

DanPowers, like I mentioned above, I do not know which error they are referring to, but unless the one I pointed out is correct, let us “break” out of the attack when we press “dodge roll” hot key. Nothing should change other than cancelling the attack during the middle of the animation.

Honestly, I like the Number-1 skill for 1h-sword. Good skill to follow stealth thief and “real” mesmers.

Negative, Miiro. In the middle of the ranger’s wonder-leap, spinning, slash, cyclone attack, you cannot dodge (Even without AA). In other words, let us dodge and cancel the animation of the attack instead of:

if (isAnimating == true)
_____canDodge = false;

I disagree with the TC wholeheartedly. Ranger = archer = range class. I am not stupid and know what a ranger is. They are beyond archers due to the fact that they also master various weapons including swords, axe, and daggers. But in this game, ANYONE who wants to play a range class will logically say, “ranger”… not “warrior”.

I do not know which issue you all are referring to. IF you are referring to Number 2 and 3 skills dodging, i say they are perfect as is. But if you are referring to the Auto-Attack on number 1, which sometimes prevents you from dodging, then yes, it is a problem, not a l2p problem, Ranger Chokolata

Well, for starters, I don’t see what “God’s” name got to do with anything. The answer for your number 1 question is simple. A-net decided to do so and there is nothing we can do about it. To make a lore about it, maybe the ranger is speaking in their pet’s language, and translating from English to that pet’s language causes a lag spike within the communication process.

And when pet is dead, I am quite sure it does NOT work.

Hehehe. Gw2 is currently closed for maintenance. Please come back when the next patch arrives, or when I find another non-shortbow/BM build. I originally used a Longbow + s/d, fyi.

When you say “Recently”, do you mean yesterday? or 2 days ago? Because 2 days ago, my ranger in pvp && wvw was unstoppable.

If you start in any other than Proph, you can come to Proph starting in Lion Arch, which is in the middle of the map, which means you have to walk yourself way to the low level areas of Ascalon, and then back over to the high level area of Magumma, Kryta, etc.

If you do start at Proph, I suggest that when you reach Lion Arch, take a ship to Nightfall and obtain your first three/four heroes, then come back to Proph and finish it, since I bet it must be impossible/low-chance to find a team to do mission in GW1 now.

ps: Try not to die and get survival title =) It was one of my unachieve goals

ehhh….. I started with Proph, though it gets boring at “Old Ascalon” and “Crystal Desert”… that’s just me though. But NF was by far my favorite. =) If I had to do it again, I’ll start at Proph, but that’s just me.

And GW1 isn’t soloable…. I only managed to do it because I got most of the good professions skills to set up my heroes skillbars. GW1 is all about teamwork, which is what GW2 happens to lack. Gw1 also have something that Gw2 doesn’t, I knew this since beta, but I could never put my finger on it. Overall, my experience in GW1 is way better than GW2. I felt like a real “hero” in GW1. Gw2, i’m just helping some dude name Thackery out to fight a cliche dragon.

I main the ranger of gw1. Love that class. >=) And if you made a good choice? It depends if there are still people playing it or not. During the time when I was playing it, it was the best time of my life. I sold myself as a free mercenary and helped people on runs (missions, towns, etc). The one I was known for (people forget of course) was the Tomb run, and Prophecy last mission run.

It’s always more fun if you have people to play with of course. I actually ran through NF and EOTN with just heroes and henchies (this was before you can have 7 heroes in your team)

What I was saying, Ajajane, is that you shouldn’t stop playing a ranger because of this awful update. You have 2 choices at the moment:
1) Quit being a ranger
2) Continue onwards

Any other class can outperform us in any duties. But ignore all of those for now and look inside ourselves! We are Rangers! We’ll die as one if we have to! FOR GREAT JUSTICE!!!

They do not hate rangers. They just don’t know how to balance the game correctly. Please do not misjudge them for something they didn’t do.

I have an apprentice in GW2. His name, Ranger Aragorn. I was proud to promote him to a master Ranger. He is true at heart, and strong at will. A man of steel mind, and forgiving heart.

On the end, he chose to leave behind his old ranger clothing and follow my armor set and made me a proud master /weeps

It’s tough to be “unparalleled archers” when thieves have a better shortbow and warriors have a better longbow. Unless there’s another meaning for “unparalleled” or some secret bow I have no knowledge about, please indulge me on what I’m missing.

Ranger Obobo! The two hours (or maybe 3) it takes to reinstall it is too hectic! As a master Ranger, I must rebuke and say this is a foolish move. You can definitely leave it on your system without playing it. Unless, of course, you are planning to leave forever, might as well save that 18-20 gb of memories in your system.

Yes, Aden. The only time it becomes Juvenile “pet” is when you compeltely switch off the pet with some other pet on your pet-list. Hope that makes sense. Your F4 switching pet thing does not reset the name.

I agree with you completely, Faux. As a master ranger myself, I really feel that Warriros makes better rangers (with longbow) than rangers does with any bow.

You fool! I was not a BM + shortbow build. I was a longbow sword/dagger build, and I owned every single person 1v1, and i can literally hold off 3 v 1 until reinforcement come. My pet did “Decent” damage. Decent enough to weaken them so I can finish them all off!

I’m sad for you all, my fellow rangers, for I, Simon, am also sad for myself. -_-\/ Just two days ago, before the patch, I was praised as a hero… a Legend! The ranger named, Simon! Just yesterday, not too aware of the patch’s impact on my ranger, I dueled a necro and loss. I kept swapping my pet (5 in beast mastery) to obtain quickness, which happened to be replaced with some other stupid trait. My pet did no damage to the necro, and just right before I almost killed him, I got killed instead.

In conclusion, I, Simon, hereby that our once strong, powerful ranger community is now disbanded. Farewell brother rangers. I will not be gone for long. I will only come back stronger…. -_- as strong as I can be with this limitation for us Rangers.

Good thing about GW2 is: you bought the game already. You are always welcomed back. Take a break from it when chores in life is calling you, but you can always come back whenever want to.

What ticks me off is stupid guys (playing girls character), pick up the Keg, and hop the fence to the outside world. -_- It was literally 2 v 4, and it was a big massacre! I was on the 4 side of course, but my pity goes far to those who suffered such hyenous crime!

Exactly! LOTRO has great night time effects. I don’t recall Divinity having night times… o_o that would be very nice. The Brazier and torches on the walls will pierce the darkness with its flickering light 0_0

Hi Viktor =) About the night being darker, I guess it would be kind of neat. I agree that I actually never noticed the day-time changing at all. Night and Morning is quite similar in my perspective, so I do think it would be a good update. I had also read somewhere stating that it was “darker” in the game’s earlier stage but was changed due to people having hard time seeing things. Maybe they could give us the power to change it in Option. =) Like the Auto loot and Auto targeting.
