I think elementalists will become boring if this ever happens. Sticking to just one element doesn’t have any sort of randomness to it nor any outplaying potential (maybe some) but you will be incredibly easy to read when matched up against solid enemies.

What attracts me about the elementalist is that the class is so much fun to play with all the attunement hopping and the more you play it the more you memorize and gain momentum of when to switch inbetween attunements in the most crucial of situations especially in WvW and organised raids with a raid leader.

I support the way elementalists are now because they offer boons in form of protection, swiftness, might and regeneration to allies on attunement swaps which is incredible considering fighting against enemies with active retaliation, the regeneration from switching into water attunement can nullify a portion of the damage done to you by the retal.

OP mentions “s/tPvP” so presumably is talking about both hotjoin and ranked matches – and if you ever want to roam in WvW, it’s pretty important to be able to deal with PU Mesmers anyway, even if they’re never going to be viable in high-end conquest PvP.

Anyway yeah, Gokil’s post covers things clearly – Ele can do everything pretty well (while having to go farther and sacrifice more to perform more specific roles like S/D FAir Burst or Staff Nuker), and D/D Cele is especially versatile. Learning how best to support your team in different situations with your mixed bag of tools is the way to stay effective at higher ranks. Getting out of situations that you can’t help in is equally important to sticking around when you can!

at roaming PU condie is strong but he can not kill you. You just run and he has no abilities to fallow you. PU power has little bit more chase abilities but it is full bers, so find main mesmer and kill it.

PU mesmers are banned from ESL 1v1 and 2v2 tournaments because of their incredible outplaying potential all I see is clones everywhere, clones when they dodge, confusion on demand, more clones, phantasms, et.c, et.c. As an elementalist you should know that confusion, torment and imobolize are the worst conditions we can have on us because they limit our movement and clutch plays by far cause of the inability to move/switch attunements on demand cause of punishment from the conditions. Also cleaning these conditions can only take you thus far. I have no idea which PU mesmers you are talking about but there are some kitten good ones out there.

In the heat of battle esp. WvW the mouse cursor sometimes gets lost, is there any way to change the color of it to a darker goldish color?

I’ve played strictly d/d elly in s/tPvP for 50 ranks now and I wonder if it’s still rewarding to play? Right now it seems like some matchups versus good opponents are tougher and I have to do tremendous work to win a 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 skirmish also I’m very squishy even though I run celestial amulet.

SB thieves, PU mesmers, hambow/hammer warriors and perma chill necros that know what they are doing are very difficult to play against. Especially the PU mesmers.

What do you guys think about the state of the d/d elementalist at the moment from the PvP angle?

This has probably been asked 100 times, but why no GvG yet ANet?

I even heard at some point that an ANet employee found 2 guilds doing GvG in the Obsidian Sanctum and told them to stop.

I recommend checking ebay for a 7870/270/270x or even 280/290 cards there are a ton of them coming out of coin mining rigs that are going cheap and are in excellent working condition, i got a 290x and am very happy I did….though, it dosnt matter in this game, gw2 has a serious flaw that comes from bad choices early in dev.

gw2 uses 3 heavy threads if any of them stall even for an instant, the whole game takes a huge perf hit.

the educated speculation on this comes down to the fact that anet thought they could make an xbox 360 port for the game(it has a tricore cpu and dx9 gpu) when that didnt work out(because the 360’s cpu wouldnt be able to deal for starters) they didnt go back and fix the issues caused by those choices but, just decided to let the players deal/live with the bad choices management made.

it ticks me off because, I expected better from anet…..with all the big talk about the game coming out with dx10/11 support, and proper threading and all that….it comes out dx9 only, and optimized in such a way that you needa 6-8ghz tricore cpu to avoid bottlenecking……

The game isn’t optimized to full take advantage of processors.

Bigger zergs = more load on your processor but the engine doesn’t use it to fully so you get FPS drop.

For reference, I’m getting 50-70% cpu usage on a 2500k @ 4.2ghz and 50-80% GPU usage on a 280x on max all settings with SweetFx overlay.

100% usage on your GPU probably means there is room for an upgrade that could possibly increase your FPS.

30% on your processor is a little bit on the low side and might translate to your GPU bottlenecking it.

How do you stop the gcard from bottlenecking? Which grapihcs card would I have to buy that is strong enough for my CPU?

280x, HD7870,GTX770, or something rated at or higher then those 3 cards is where the bottle necking on the GPU stops for GW2.

But regardless of what GPU you get, the CPU is never fast enough. Even my 4790K at 5Ghz can only see 30FPS in Zerg Content.

God kitten man… I only had a budget for like 110 euros and that fell on to me buying the gtx 750 the 770 is really expensive, I might get it in the future :p, thanks for your help =)

Hi. everything is okay. I keep solid 70-100 fps in big cities with many people no problem. But in WvW 20v20 or 30v30 FPS drops down to 30-40 ridicoulos…

But I go join WvW and the fps attack begins. And I know you will say “oh no it’s WvW ur supposed to drop frames”, but I don’t know I have pretty solid specs and I’ve asked people and they say I shouldn’t be having any problems, anyways here;

Intel i7-2600k@3.4Ghz overclocked up to 4.3Ghz (can go further but would not want to melt the processor)
ASUS GTX 750 OC 1GB overclocked memory by 400 mhz and the GPU by 50mhz
8 GB RAM (4 GB is used when GW2 is running)
Motherboard: ASUS Z77-V PRO

I’ve looked at graphs on the usage of GPU using ASUS GPU Tweak and noticed that up to 100% of my GPU is used when GW2 is running. Then I checked up on the activity of the i7 on task manager and found out that only 30% of it is being used.

100% GPU usage and 30% CPU usage, what to do? How to fix?

I haven’t played GW2 for ~1 year and just returned to check out season 2 – and now my FPS are 5-10 on high/auto-detected settings and 10-20 on the lowest settings possible. The game’s just frigging unplayable.

A year ago, I got ~30 fps in most areas with medium settings.

Specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 955, 4×3.2 Ghz
AMD Radeon HD 7870
4GB ram

Oddly enough, CPU usage is ~25% each core while the GPU is maxed at 100%

I am in Gandara at the moment. The commanders are just playing PPT and when there’s a fight there’s like a 70 vs 70 man blob, FPS drops like hell, it is no fun.

Also the WvW guilds+some commanders don’t suit my playstyle on this server, I don’t know. There’s only 2-3 really solid guilds on this server but getting in on them is extremely difficult you have to have a WvW resume of a legend. True story.

Do you guys have any suggestions to which server I should go to that has actual proper fights and prefer to run a lot of organised GvG? And where there are good guilds that are willing to help me grow in WvW? I am not a noob I have quite the grip over what to do in WvW how to react and whatnot. I just need to be a part of a guild+server that prefers to raid a lot so I can gain a kittenton of experience and become a more confident player.

Help is appreciated, thank you guys.

P.S I don’t mean to be rude saying that Gandara is bad or whatever, it is just not the server for me I guess.

When I join blob wars in WvW in GW2 I get insane fps drops. It drops all the way from 70 down to like 10 it’s unplayable. I will write down some of my computer specs (sry I’m not so good with computers) those that I find at least and please help me point out why my FPS drops a lot and which component I should buy/upgrade that will fix the problem. I need your help it will be greatly appreciated!

I run GW2 on the lowest of settings and if I turn Vsync off the fps drops even harder, I don’t know why.

Intel i7-2600k CPU@3400Ghz, 3401 Mhz, 4 cores.
- I cannot open up the BIOS before starting the computer. If I try I get black screen.
I’ve tried looking for drivers to update but there are no out of date graphical drivers that I know of, at least not on their website.

8 GB RAM
Graphics card; ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series (this is very old might be the cause of some FPS drops but I don’t know help me please)

Okay I have face palmed over this like 50 times using both of my hands my forhead is in facepalm mode today. It is just so kitten sad and funny at the same time XD.

I decided to create my own guild. Days go by and I spend money on influence points for upgrades and whatnot. Spend around 50 gold, not that much but still a large amount to set the guild off by.

Anyways since I’m the creator of the guild I thought it would be a good idea to mess around with the ranks a bit and here is when I accidentally de-ranked myself to the lowest rank of all. Now I have 0 permission in the guild all I can do is invite people and be sad…

I sent ANet a ticket I hope they will help me out with this. Please ANet help me I don’t want to lose my guild. I’ve begun to make a website to and also recruited a couple of players that want to be a part of my growing guild they like it. Please I hope I get the help I need I don’t want to be forced to lose all my guild founding privileges because of some stupid mistake of mine.

why does the guild founder not have a special icon before his rank so people can see that HE is the founder of the guild and nobody else?

Hmm, I see I’ve read all your comments. I could agree with you to some extent but not completely, if you have an example similar to the argument(s) I am about to make I would agree with the rubberboarding/timing statements.

It’s problematic for the Elementalist (I’m strictly talking about elly now cause I have 0 experience on the rest of the classes) because our bread and butter is the Burning Speed>Teleport>Firegrab combo and it does a substantial amount of damage if landed correctly. Now, there are a lot of classes in the game and some have an easier time to dodge it than others with the use of invulnerable spells, “Endure Pain”, Warrior utility skill.

Then we have stunbreakers in the game like stability/mesmer teleport/shadowstep et.c. These are easy to bait if the opponent you are playing against is familiar with playing against an Elementalist they will most likely break the knockdown of Updraft because it will lead into our solid BS>FGRAB combo .

Let’s say I manage to bait out 1 of their stunbreaks by using Updraft and not following up with Burning Speed into FGRAB combo, the next time I chill/snare/knockdown my opponent I will have an extremely easy time using Burning Speed>Teleport>Firegrab and do an insane amount of damage. And here is exactly where the problem comes into play. My combo gets messed up and I cannot punish my opponent which is exactly what I should’ve done there putting me ahead healthwise and giving me the upper hand in the battle.

These are just my thoughts on the subject… feel free to keep the discussion going =)

If an elementalist wielding dual daggers uses this combo too fast it will not work and the whole combo will get canceled. The elementalist will get teleported to the targeted location then redirected back to where it first was used from the beginning. The burning speed will not hit and it will be a complete disaster… I’ve missed a lot of very important comboes in PvP due to this bug, please look into this ANet, I shall try to edit this post later on and post a video containing visual information for the eye to behold.

Make a guild that’s worth joining, that offers people something they can’t easily get otherwise.

The simplest example is guilds that specialise in certain activities. For example making a guild for people who like speed clearing dungeons, so they know they can come on guild chat and find people to join their group who want to play the same way they do and know how to do it. Or a PvP guild with their own custom arena where people can form teams and practice.

If you just want a social guild then it’s a bit harder but the same approach does work. Think about what kind of conversations you’d like to have – do you want to be a family friendly, no drama guild? A guild for people who turned the profanity filter off as soon as they got the game and want to be free to say what they want when they want? An RP guild that will have your own story lines?

Imagine a guild you would want to join and try to make it, then make sure you tell people and like-minded people will join.

Hello. My christmas scepter disappeared and I do not know how :S, I didn’t do anything. I switched to staff from wielding s/d on elementalist and died in WvW then I realized my scepter was gone? I didn’t destroy it or anything like that I’ve checked in the bank and everywhere else it’s gone please help. I’m not so rich atm and in no spirit of farming I just wanna have fun in WvW stats were zerker stats with superior sigil of battle and the christmas scepter skin, I would like a refund please I really liked this skin

Hi my mb/s is great but when I start GW2 ping goes up to 200+ from 16 and mb/s drops all the way down to 1-2mb/s from 13-15mb/s.

Yeah man exactly the same problem here but it’s even worse, it affects my whole connection. Before starting GW2 my ping is at 16 and once starting it ping flies up to 200+, it’s unplayable. Idk what to do, then I have to go all the way to the basement to restart the router

Okay this is completely weird… :s

My internet connection normally runs on 10-20ms, 13-15mb/s down- and 0.5-1mb/s upload and these are the usual specs before I start the game GW2, (speedtest.net)

The moment I start GW2 I get mass packetloss and extreme lag/delay on my skills and my ms goes up to 200+, download speed decreases to 1-3mb/s and upload down to 0.1-0.2 mb/s.

What’s the problem? I have no idea seriously. When I’m playing League of Legends it’s completely fine. Browsing on YouTube+Facebook also fine, it only seems to drop whenever I open GW2… help…

Internet is fine but I get around 200 ping+ in-game :s… Yesterday I did fractals, in 1 fractal I had 200 ping and on the next one I had no lag issues, I don’t get it? My internet is fine, 1.4-1.6mb/s down- and 0.5 kb/s upload, help.

Now I cannot even get through character transaction :s, the game just froze, screen turned black then I had to restart. If I do get through char selection I’m stuck in a white screen…

I finished making my Incinerator now I’d like to get the legendary scepter “Meteorlogicus” but I am very disencouraged by the steps as you walk while wiedling the weapon…, it makes me very sad, to a point where I do not want to create it… Please make the steps leave white, soft, happy and cartoonish kind of clouds as you walk, that would be so awesome, oh my God that would be amazing!!

P.S; I know you will probably not even think about changing the walk-animation of the weapon but maybe if more people would agree with me you might? I don’t know… maybe make it changable? From dark clouds with thunder to white and soft clouds? Just a suggestion, thanks… Couldn’t post this in the suggestion section, idk why.
