Whats the biggest mini-pet out there?

I don’t really know about mini’s. Does anyone know the biggest one? Or the most noticeable one. I need one that stands out a lot.

We need a state of the game blog post!

Why don’t we have these any more? These were extremely useful in my opinion for understanding the direction of gw2. I remember when we got one back midway through LS1 and it was really helpful. We learned about where the game was going in multiple different places. Feature and content wise. It also proved to be very true(for the most part), as we saw many of the blog posts prophecies come true. Can we have some comment about this by a dev?

I and many other people are somewhat lost in the direction of guild wars 2 and need to know more about were things are going. In terms of pve living story, pve fractals/dungeons, wvw, spvp, feature wise.

Ye thats exactly what we need. Another tournament to burn people out, have servers become stacked, and give achievement points to pve’ers to come and que up maps and do nothing but hunt jp achievements. Im only open for another tournament if there are serious changes.

…Is that it? Really?

Season 2, is this a single player game?

in Living World

SkylightMoon.2098

With recent developments in game and in interviews. It just feels like the 2nd season is an even worse idea. All the resources seem to be sucked into developing the living story, yet I don’t feel it even offers that much. Most of the living story so far has been living story instances which I do, and then go back to doing whatever I did for the last 2 years of the game.

The achievements are absolutely awful, like 2 challenging ones so far out of the entire living story. The rewards are also very bad. Its the normal “craftingmat/champbag” type of reward. Dry top is okay for a bit. I don’t see the living story getting a good response if the rest of it continues this way.

Gw2: A game for players, or a game for devs?

Ye I understand what you’re saying. The players for a long time have been quite against the whole living story thing, especially during season 1, yet the devs pushed with it. I think they are being too stubborn about the choices they make. Make the game the players want, not the game you want.

Im sure Anet had certain visions for the game when creating it, yet some of these sadly won’t come true because they are unrealistic and have certain problems with them that don’t sit well with the players. Temporary content is a perfect example of this. Everyone hated it, and they changed that, so thats good on their part. Yet they still take so long on so many features/content that are massively requested from the community and say “ye we’re looking into it”. Don’t just look into it, actually do it. Players want that more than anything from the living story, so put the living story on hold and give the players something they want. Guild halls for example are one of these.

Everyone didn’t hate the living story, though most people did hate temporary content. I think numbers showed that the living story was quite successful, in spite of complaints. Sure seemed so with all the overflows at the Marionette and not being able to get into my home server for five days.

Not true. Pretty much everyone hated temporary content which WAS the living story. Heres why. 90% of the content created for the living story season 1 is not playable anymore, and yet the first season lasted most of guild wars 2 lifespan. Thats a terrible shame. A ton of highly requested features/content could have been added during the time if the living story was done right. Yet its not.

Polls and posts definitely showed people screaming for an expansion the entire length of the first season. Mainly because it was said that the living story can deliver expansion like content, but pretty much didn’t for most of the season(15 months).

Doing what the players want means giving them an expansion when you’ve proved you can’t do expansion like content. Thats what the post is about. Is anet still trying to make a game they envisioned, even if it doesn’t work, or are they willing to change completely and go with the players direction.

2 feature packs and 1/2 season, not enough

My god!

Can we please differentiate between “changing existing features” and “NEW features???”

Rehashing junk and acting like it’s new ‘does not’ make it “new.”

Ummm, that’s not just a little disingenuous. If you tear down a house and build a palace, you have a palace.

The new path of TA is NOT a rehash and NO ONE can say it’s a rehash. It’s a completely 100% new path. An 80th level path with new enemies, new maps, new bosses and new rewards.

The Tequatl revamp took something that was essentially nothing and made it into something much more than it was. If you call this a rehash, I’d have to say you’re misusing the word. The closest thing to a rehash I can think of is the AC dungeon upgrade, but even that has completely new bosses in it with new mechanics.

Agreed, for the most part, however the new content mentioned here results in a zero sum. Taking away one piece of content to introduce another in its place does not increase the amount of content.

Taking away something that’s not used is not taking away content either. I have a guild of 150 people, many of whom do run dungeons, but it was almost impossible to badger people into running the F/U path of TA. It was bad out there.

I used the LFG tool a couple of times and it took forever to get a group. Disneyworld closes down rides that people don’t frequent too. They put a new ride in it’s place. Hopefully the new ride does better.

Again, I still consider the battle for Lion’s Arch content, because I played and enjoyed it. I did run the TA path they took out a few times and it was fine…but having to run it again and again…it wasn’t worth the time to find the group.

Really? Where can I replay the battle for lions arch, id really like to, sounds fun. Citing actual content that players have to do. From the first living story, its very few. Probably 10% of the content added in the first season can be done now.

If the rest of the LS needs this big of breaks between small amounts of time for content releases then people are going to rage hard. Im guessing the new LS is coming late september/early october.

Thats way too long. I know they want to get in the feature packs but the amount of time delayed up until a feature pack is released is insane. Were waiting nearly a month for the feature pack to be released after its announced, thats not acceptable. They just need to cover it all in one week.

Right now the way things look, its 6 weeks of living story, 6 weeks off. Thats very very poor. That actually makes this worse than the first living story in terms of content delivery. Because then its not truly bi-weekly when you factor in the fact that 50% is breaks.

Toughness broken in GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SkylightMoon.2098

What are you trying to do by having 2300 toughness? Are you in wvw or spvp? In sPvP if you have that much youd have to be a bunker and no bunker build I know of will have that much toughness. Plus bunkers are meant to soak up damage and if you arn’t a good bunker who can’t sustain you will die eventually no matter how much toughness you have.

Is sPvP ever going to be more than Conquest?

in PvP

SkylightMoon.2098

I can definitely say it really has been two years now and if two years ago I told you and the sPvP community who was still here that two years from now, what would your reaction have been? Even when Anet had this whole E-Sports idea that didn’t work out too well, I figured that it at least showed them to be dedicated to the area of the game and that it would get a lot of content. I feel like objectively, even by GW2 standards, has had very little content added especially within the 2nd year of the games history.

The last map we had added for conquest was exactly one year ago, which also around that time, in September I think, we heard the devs talk about new modes. That was a year ago? What have they been doing? Its very dissapointing :/ I don’t think its unrealistic for any MMO that has a developed PvP community to ask for a new mode or just something that is significant. The feature update was nice but when you really think about it, it wasn’t all that much. It blurred the line between PvP/PVE, made UI changes, also made editing your build more convenient, and a reward track(which did give a lot more incentive to do PvP).

On a last note I think one reason this may be which is one reason for a lot of decisions probably made in GW2 is that the devs are really afraid of spreading their playerbase. I think this fear is constantly on the back of the devs minds. Ive heard them mention it many times in the history of GW2 because of their experience with GW1 where it did really affect the game.

The story was really great to go through but it literally felt like the entire new areas of dry top were designed just for the story. After I finished it, I came back to the canyon and went through all the different areas we’ve unlocked and there was so little there. Its unfortunate because its a really pretty place. There are so few events and about the only thing I could find myself to do was picking up coins :/ It seems like Anet has fallen back into the Southsun Cove syndrome.

[Suggestion] Publishing WvW Player Hours

SkylightMoon.2098

I think this is another solution to providing a more accurate score in WvW. This idea seems like dynamic scaling taken to PvP. Numbers are uneven, so lets scale the scores based on the efficiency of the hours put in by both teams and then calculate the score. This would work out pretty well I think.

PPT is a joke. WvW is about fights.

There’s been a lot of talk here about coverage vs. skill. The way to measure the average skill of a world is by dividing the score by the units of time invested to achieve it.

If one world’s group of players spend 4,000 hours to score 150,000 points and another spends 2,000 hours to score the same 150,000 points, then the second world is clearly more skilled, right? But we can’t tell that from the info ANet gives us today. yes, obviously, this only tells us who is (mostly) better at PPT right now, but it’s a start.

I have a proposal up about this here: [Suggestion] Publishing WvW Player Hours

Thats actually a pretty good idea. Thats probably one of the better(best) solutions Ive heard. Dno why Anet haven’t taken a look at this. Im gonna try to get this idea out there for you more, along with some other things.

I don’t know about the US bads you’re playing with OP but SFR got to nr.1 by having skilled pugs and by winning fights.

Get your facts straight before making useless threads on subjects you don’t know about.

With even numbers your commanders and their pug blobs would still lose to other servers because of their skilled guild groups lol. SFR has a huge population, sorry but thats why you are high ranked.

PPT is a joke. WvW is about fights.

could not disagree more with the OP…

for starters, SFR are full of very skilled pugs. 90% of the time there is only a 2 hour window in the morning when SFR have superior numbers on the map. I’ve played on FSP, RoS, and US IoJ….

On RoS there were some good small skirmish fights with GH but other than their main rival server at the time I was on… the other fights were not that spectacular.

FSP was a joke. Lots of guilds living for the fight, sometimes arguing amongst themselves not achieving much at all, and fighting really poor opposition. Hand on heart… I reduced a 20+ zerg to 8 people on my own… and another time me and one other person wiped a guild raid…. on RoS I took SM with 5 ppl… on FSP I had the lord down in SM with 5 ppl during prime-time and very nearly got the cap before we were wiped by the blob.

I solo roam a lot… On SFR I get to fight skilled opposition when we are facing Riverside and Kodash… and even JS have some very skilled players who have given me a really good fight. I can’t get that in the lower leagues.

WvW has to be based around points because without the point tick you end up with EotM.

The game requires a gvg and solo fight arena… but do not get these confused with wvw. The thing that makes wvw awesome is taking and defending keeps against stiff opposition. I am not talking pvd rubbish… I am talking about 2-5 hours of intense fighting with siege, zergs, solo roamers picking off strays in order to plant your flag in a borderland garrison and possibly a ebg keep. All the other things such as supply camps, towers, bay, hills, SM etc… are merely objectives to help you with that big fight for garrison or keep – either providing the supply for siege or a place to treb from or a place in which to shorten the distance required to move in for the attack or to prevent the enemy from moving in on the attack.

Open field blob fights in wvw are as boring as pvd. Small skirmish fights and 1v1 fights are fun as they test skill but the real fun is that big fight for that all important objective.

SFR is currently ticking almost twice what their other opponents are in the current matchups. You can say SFR is super skilled but can’t prove it because there is no system is place ot say this. Currently in the WvW system, SFR may be ranked higher than a majority of the other servers but that proves nothing about your servers skill, means you have more people. True skill is determined much easier when things are balanced which rarely happens. Your opponents can probably destroy you open field with 1/4th your number but can’t beat you ppt because of their population.

Any news?

So many stupid comments here. WvW is a fairly large part of gw2 and endgame for many people. WvW and sPvP are pretty much the only endgame in gw2 since PVE is essentially dead and there is nothing to do. Pay more attention to this section of the game Anet, it will save your game, and if you don’t your game will die. People log in every day just to run with their guild in wvw, defend their server, or roam.

Graphic settings bugged after 4/25 patch

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

SkylightMoon.2098

Hi I logged in today after downloading a the 4/25 patch and my graphic settings are not affecting my in game graphics whatsoever. They were on best performance at first so everything was on low. When I was walking around I noticed I could see through entire buildings and other surfaces on the map, like when I walked through DR and could see through an entire building. So I changed my graphic settings and so everything is on high and it didnt change anything.

So I logged in and then back out and had the same problem. Some key things I noticed is that even though I put character quality on highest, a lot of the character around me still had generic models that you would see on low. Sometimes 1 or 2 out of a big crowd would load up, but that would be about it.

Also, one thing I noticed is a lot of my skill effects cannot be seen some of the time. Im a guardian and on high graphic settings I couldn’t see my symbols on the ground. Anyone else having this problem?
