lol @ fracturing the playerbase. This makes more sense when there are as many isntances as GW1. Guild wars 2 isn’t anywhere near that. You lose playerbase by not making content, like they did with living story season 1.
Sticking to open world content partially solves that problem, but there are a dozen and a half things you can’t do open world that you can do instanced. Like raid bosses. Or anything that is very difficult. The wurm already proved that.
wurm is a raid boss like any other game. The root problem is that difficulty is inversely related to group sizes. Here is a giant proposal against 40 man raid. His logic is pretty solid
https://forums.wildstar-online.com/forums/index.php?/topic/31112-why-40-man-raids-are-a-bad-idea/
Its bad for two reasons. Its open world, and it requires +100 people. When Anet made the wurm, they specifically said it was for hardcore groups, yet there are no systems in place to allow hardcore groups to just jump in with 130 people to do the fight. You have to go through all these hoops of double popping overflows to finally get one suitable, then ferry people in.
Its funny to initally remind myself that they said it was for hardcore groups when johansson said later on that ye you may not get your entire group in their but pugs can join in lol. This type of comment proves that they don’t understand what wrong with mixing open world with hardcore difficulty.
The wurm will never be pugged. Nor will anything more difficult than the wurm.
I agree with you saying that its related to how many people it uses. Ideally if fights only needed sizes of 20-30, it would increase the guild competition creating a flourishing scene, and also allowing people to complete it more frequently. The only problem is that its impossible to do with open world content. Because content scales, and somethiing requiring 20-30 people will scale incorrectly like it does for everything else in the game.
Even if it did scale correctly, thats still the problem. You are back to requiring a coordinated +100 people when you only have an organized 20-30.
Other games have tried open world raid bosses of this size. We know it doesn’t work. So Anet needs to stop being so stubborn and realize that or come up with a different solution.

Im a WvW/GvG player and the gamemode im in is dying. New guilds and friends are leaving everyday. Why? We all know why.
WvW has gotten pretty much nothing for 2014. Upon hearing about the feature pack and its first week aimed towards WvW/spvp, I actually got very excited. I heard a few bits of news, like new colored tags, a new trap, and a new trait line. I thought wow this looks good so far.
By the end of the week I felt so stupid. Stupid for thinking WvW would get more than the bare minimum once again. You’d think CDI’s would do something right? They won’t. Just look to see how much they actually did and how slow they are.
Commander Tag CDI – 25 pages, 9 months ago = 3 new colors and account bound functionality. How in the?!?!?! Thats an absolutely abhorrent amount of content for 9 months. No reason to trust CDI’s after such a poor demonstration from Anet on this.
Morning Zoso,
I am looking forward to it to. I will try to get the topic started on Thursday of next week. Just need to get some things finished so I can give the CDI the attention it will need.
Chris
To clarify, that means this very next Thursday Sept 5, not the next week after that, right?
That is correct Donari, Thursday Sept 5. This is the date I am aiming for. I have quite a lot of work to do early in the week but I will do my best (-:
Chris
I am very excited about this CDI. I am still very active within the gvg community and am excited to get some discussion in. I have two problems though with the circumstances surrounding this CDI.
1. As a wvw person, I along with others don’t have much faith in CDI’s after the commander tag CDI delivered very little for the amount of discussion that was in it, and the amount of work done on the system in 9 months time.
2. Its a CDI that feels quite late to be honest. Big guild features being improved guild functionality, guild halls, gvg. People have been asking for this features consistently since launch, and its only now 2 years later that we are just getting “discussion” on them. Im very confused about Anet’s priority list.
A lot, lot, lot, lot, lot of guilds could do this fight if it didn’t require +100 people
The problem isn’t guilds, its the number of people it requires. The majority of guilds can’t field the amount triple trouble needs 2-3 times a day, 7 days a week. Only the select few mega-guilds can.
How do you fix it? Allow an option to open the fight in your own overflow or temporarily seal off that area of the map where the fight is going on, sorta like queens gauntlet bosses were sealed off while players fought them.
Why? Its related to the problem of it requiring too many people. If the fight is designed around 20-40 people, thats great, but scaling. More people join, it either nerfs the fight into a zergy madness, or in the perfect world where everything(mechanics including), scales right, you are stuck with the problem of 20-40 out of 150 people actually being coordinated. If that happens, the fight fails.
Archeage is pretty bad. Its just a giant pve roleplaying game. Honestly OP if you liked gw2, you wont ever find another game like it that will replace it. Its too unique. For spvpers and wvwers both, the combat system has spoiled us.
Even Camelot Unchained won’t compete. Its going to have the same terrible combat system it did back in DAoC. The features sound really cool and all, but no game will ever be as smooth as gw2. If you leave just wait a year or so and then come back and see if things changed at all for you.
Avoiding mechanics by standing in a singular area isn’t an exploit, it’s possible bad dungeon design (for example the cage room in the newer flame and frost fractal…sorry I can’t remember the name of the dungeon it’s late). In that fight there are areas in which you can avoid almost the entire fight mechanic, that’s an example of poor dungeon mechanic design.
Standing on a rock/ledge/platform while the boss attempts to hit you from below (yes there are some bosses that still have abilities that hit you), is a problem with pathing and the boss not resetting when it can’t reach the target. This is exploiting a bug.
Kiting and using geometry (running AROUND pillars and such) is a perfectly valid tactic.
Standing outside a stationary boss’s range is not an exploit, the boss “should” reset after an extended period of time, but is not. This is an example of poor boss implementation, and not an exploit.
Using terrain to block/dodge boss mechanics is also considered a valid tactic (standing behind a pillar when a boss charges).
At this point we are getting very nitpicky at each individual boss and each mechanic in question. I’m sure most of you are aware of what is an exploit and what is a mechanic/tactic. We are working on fixing these “Safe Spots”, but it’s going to take some time to get it done, and will probably happen over time. (Sorry I am not going to go into particulars for fights/changes)
I’ll be very clear here:
If a GM finds a player that is using a “Safe Spot”, that player will be moved out of the safe spot and warned (via in-game text). If they are caught again, that account will be temporarily suspended. If a GM finds a player that is using a “Safe Spot” and selling the dungeon run, that account will be temporarily suspended without warning.
Its nice to finally have some dev insight on this. Ive been arguing with people about this for ages whether or not certain things are an exploit or bad game design. Since youv’e admitted some fights are simply flawed by bad game design, do you have any plans to do a mass revamp of all the fights that suffer from these similar problems?
Playing on both NA and EU I see and hear a lot about dying servers/dying guilds. GvG wise the scene has really gone down hill. Guilds disbanding, half the people who still wanna play go create a new guild that doesn’t last long or join a current one until that disbands. PPT wise, everything seems to be focused in the top 2-3 tiers. The lower tiers feel extremely dead.
I’d say the game mode has about 1 year before everyone has moved to kitten because of the necrosis that ensued on lower tiers.
I’ll blame this on Anet’s lack of interest/development in WvW. They had some within the first few months of the game, but by the time the living story came they allocated their resources somewhere else. The PPT system has always been broke. There is no incentive because no rewards because you can’t give any if there is a broken PPT system. In 2 years they haven’t even tried to fix this, yes its a hard problem but not even a try?
I like how you said that we’re getting an expansions worth of content(which is an obvious lie) and then list 3 maps of all the new maps we’ve gotten LOL. What a fail. First of all, it took them almost 2 years to add a second PVE map, which is very subpar for MMO standards. Plus, an expansions worth of content is not two maps, you can include EOTM either because that isn’t PVE. An expansions worth of content is around 8 maps on average, at least if you look at WoW.
Content wise, guild wars 2 has gotten very little, thats impossible to deny, just look at how much of season 1 we can’t play because it was nearly all temporary.
Feature-wise I can agree the game has changed a lot. The only criticisms I have are that Anet takes very long to implement small features like a last online feature in guilds.
Overrall looking at the combination of content+features, its less than what we got in guild wars 1 within the first 2 years.
Season 2 definitely improved stuff that was wrong with Season 1 but so far the problem with Season 2 is that all we’re really getting per patch is a new living story instance plus a little bit of expansion in the open world. The living story instance has no replayability and the expansions to dry top really never changed much. One time we didn’t get anything. Thats the problem. People login, do the instance, have fun with the cool cutscene at the end and then go back to doing old content that actually has replayability.
People sell dungeons a lot as well. So whats gonna happen with say arah is someone is gonna take time soloing, have people joinin, and kick him. then split the profits afterwards. lol how is it Anet can’t see something as simple as this? do they even play their own game?
Ye thats what I thought. Its a pretty terrible idea to do one without the other. This is just going to allow massive griefing. Especially for people who perhaps get stuck near the end of a dungeon or fractal. Then you can just jump in and troll by kicking them all out and inviting your own people.
If you listen to that video carefully, they think Living Story achievements is a replacement to Dungeons. Rofl. I feel bad for you dungeoneers.
I gave up hope on dungeons awhile back. That aspect of the game is dead. It doesn’t matter what Anet says about it.
There have been countless threads since release, on how to improve them, and then some Anet employee comes in and acts like they need more info and an organization of threads. Seriously? You’re telling us that you didn’t collect any data over the last 2 years on how to improve them?
At least those devs in the video were honest. They even looked quite disappointed giving the news that dungeons are on the backburner. Sad days indeed.
Ye I heard that as well, was a good joke. They talked about there being some really difficult achievements when it couldnt be farther from the truth.
I want there to be more dev/player communication but as a WvW player I don’t see this happening. Devon rarely comments on the forums. Its a monthly thing from what i’ve seen.
For all those guilds going to archeage. You will be back. Ive tried it. Coming from guild wars 2 you will never get used to the unoriginal combat system that game has to add. It has a ton of cool systems in it but I don’t feel taht even as a whole, with the roleplaying, pirates, getting married, that the game can replace the epic feels we had in WvW.
To be honest. After thinking about this more I don’t really see the point in bringing the CDI back. Mainly because im not satisfied at all from the progress made on CDI’s. The only thing we’ve seen really made progress on is the living story, which isn’t surprising.
The Commander Tag CDI did absolutely nothing within the time it was out. We did waste 25 pages of conversation to have 4 new colors and account bound functionality. Whats to say anything else we will discuss will be any different? On top of that, we knew the colored commander tags existed months and months and months ago, through datamining. So what was actually going on in the mean time?

Hello frands! Vee Wee here, #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!
kitten this thread got a red name but Vee Wee’s PvP suggestions just got ignored! Nobody likes Vee Wee! A real shame because Vee Wee tries to be frandly with everybody!
Wahoo! Bye frands!
dude go away and stop whining.
Might as well just give us a list of topics to choose from instead. Ones you are actively pursuing or are going to work on next. This way we don’t choose a topic and then have to wait a while before there is a window to work on that area.
Why are so many people saying Anet chooses? This is your chance to let Anet know what you want so do it.
1. Anet chooses
jk
1. Permanent Content
More needs to be discussed about this. The second season has definitely brought us “permanent” content, yet the type is not necessarily diverse enough to satisfy the playerbase.
Because the community might choose some topic that ANet isn’t really prioritizing at the moment and so anything we would say wouldn’t be as impactful. By letting them choose the topic we’re assured that we’re working towards something tangible.
Then whats the point in all of this. Its if everyone on here unanimously said something like “guild halls”, showing the community had a great desire for it, why wouldn’t they start actively working on this feature after they finished feature pack 2. Its just silly to even give us the option at that point.

1. Permanent Content
More needs to be discussed about this. The second season has definitely brought us “permanent” content, yet the type is not necessarily diverse enough to satisfy the playerbase.
Example: People liked dungeons that were added during the first living story. They hated that they were temporary.
The problem I see with the current permanent content Anet is aiming to add is they don’t replace the other avenues of content this game has to offer (dungeons/fractals/guild missions/open world bosses). They have very little replayability to them. They are great to do once and to experience the story through and thats about it.
This game recently became significantly more unplayable for me. I can pretty much play every other game (WoW, archeage) on highest graphics settings perfectly fine and yet this is absolutely awful with loading screens.
On top of that, occasionally when I log in, it takes up like 30 seconds for all the textures/models to load. Im also glitched in one point and permanently unable to move. I’ll take a waypoint and then my character just teleports back and forth between when I try to move off the waypoint.
Actually some of mag are starting to play Archeage.
Thats not surprising tbh. Mag has always been more of a fights server than a ppt server. They are unsurprisingly losing interest in guild wars 2 wvw, especially with the upcoming tournament.
People need to be more realistic about Anets policies. You have to realize that Anet has technically talked about things in development and its been a mistake imo.
Precursor crafting is something that has been development for far too long, mainly because other systems have been put in place and some changed, like the rewards system. This is why precursor crafting was held back in the april patch from what I understand.
I think this is another problem I foresee with Anet, especially when I hear about “bigger projects” in the background. How can you develop big features or content alongside a game that is constantly changing in terms of features? Lots of revamps have already happened to the game in terms on systems like achievments/rewards/crafting/trait system.
The employees of Riot always talk about what’s in development. No details tho’, but they are able to keep the interest of the players. The problem is that if a Riot employee says that something is being worked on, he can assure that it is actually being worked on. If ANet talks about things like precursor crafting, it’s more like “we plan to do this”.
Theyve said more than that though. Anet’s said theyve actively worked on precursor crafting for a while. Not “planned” to do it. Its just something thats been in development for a long time and held back. Thats when people get upset, because of how long its taken. Thats not necessarily Anet’s fault id say.
Dungeons are only a means to an end(Tokens, Mats, gold), and not supposed to be run for the sake of running them so therefore there’s no need for more dungeons. Way too many dungeons would just split the dungeon community’s small numbers down even further amongst different dungeon instances and make finding a team for certain dungeons even harder.
If you view things that way, then you might as well view the entire game in that manner. Guild wars 2 is obviously a very cosmetic game with horizontal progression, yet reaching that point only requires a lot of gold = real life money. There needs to be more emphasis on the actual content.
What happened to playing something because it was fun? Not because it had a good reward. People complaining about TA aether and what not sayiing there is no incentive. Thats kinda sad because it being a fun cool path to do should be part of the incentive. SAB did this extremely well in my opinion. I did SAB because it was super fun, not because I was looking for a reward. Tequatl and the Wurm are the same way for me.
Fun content and rewards go hand and hand. If one is lacking then there is always a problem.
The “Legendary” weapons never were really Legendary after it was discovered you could BUY them with enough cash.
That’s not the problem with crafting or questing for Precursors. The problem is how it would really damage the high-end economy.
^ this. Legendaries were not legendary before that because they never required any skill involved to obtain. Just massive amounts of farming. The only area skill was needed was perhaps for the dungeon tokens. Legendary is more a tier than anything else.

No. Don’t leave…. wait…
A dev will soon appear and ask for suggestions and comments! Just put it in easy to read bullets: they’ll look into it and have discussions! Promise!
Exciting™ things are yet to come! Even more exciting™ than colored commander tags! For sure!
I probably wouldn’t be great at giving suggestions anyway. Ive already highlighted what exactly has alienated me and some others from the game. Im sure its not the only problem. There are better people qualified to give the devs useful feedback and they are the ones sticking around right now talking with devs.
Not to be cynical, but… ok, who am I kidding, I’m about to be cynical.
I’ve seen this kind of thread so many times throughout games and the fact is, sometimes we just burn out on a particular game, it changes into something different from what it started as, or we change as a person and so it feels different.
It’s not always just the second one (that the devs have “abandoned what you love to do and there is nothing more for you”). In fact, I’d say most of the time it’s way more complicated than that and we just tell ourselves that our reasons for feeling estranged are simple because it makes leaving easier.
When the reality is that a part of us is still attached. We don’t really want to leave. You don’t make a post like this if there is no uncertainty. If there was no uncertainty, you would already be out the door.
We want the games to keep being what they once were – keep giving us the same feeling they once did – but like everything in life, things change or wear on us and time marches on. So we hope that the devs will give us a game that renews the love we once had and will work around the clock to make it happen.
And the cynical truth of it all is that we’re infatuated with an ideal more than anything. That amazing feeling that we remember getting – the one that we’re begging to get back and continue having – was never perfect. It was always riddled with its own set of problems. But we remember it so fondly because back then, our enjoyment surpassed the problems.
So the real loss here is the loss of joy and fun. Not a loss of a particular piece of content that will magically make everything better – and not something that we can place in a box and write with just a few words. We lose the joy and fun for a variety of reasons and sometimes the game itself will never be enough. Sometimes we have to rediscover the fun for ourselves.
You know what the most fun-filled joyous moments are for me in an MMO? When I’m first trying it and I know just enough about it to feel like I’m Mr. Awesome, but little enough to not feel overwhelmed by the weight of its inadequacies.
If I am spending my time looking far into the future, then I’m not enjoying myself. I know this because I remember playing games as a kid and how the game was all that mattered in those moments. There was no, “I hope this game will be fun next time I play it.” It didn’t matter because I was lost in the fun.
If that simple joy and fun is gone, then it’s not a game anymore – it’s a chore. I didn’t really have a planned coherent point to saying all of this, but I’ll improvise: Rediscover fun! That’s the part that is firmly in your control – the one part that no one else can take away from you. And it’s all of ours for the taking, regardless of what games we’re playing, from Guild Wars 2 to freeze tag in a backyard.
For me, I stayed around with guild wars 2 for the last year just because they devs promised a lot. They made it sound like really big things were coming and that they were headed on the right track. They lied. Simple as that. They say a lot of “we’re looking into it” but when you look at what they actually work on its the same stuff as last year.
Thats why ill stop playing for now. They can’t deliver promises they made. If they start to add substantial content to spvp/wvw/dungeon and fractals. Perhaps real expansion content. Guild halls, new races, new classes, new weapon/class combinations. Then i’ll come back and play. For now, theyve proven that they can’t do this. I could be seroiusly wrong and surprised in the second season or this feature pack(would be cool).
A lot speculate about an expansion annoucement that would be very interesting. We’ll see.
did you know that dota2 just got an “infinite amount” of game modes? players can create their own game modes now with a mod kit. wish we could get this for gw2 aswell…. all the possibilities… GvG, HA, cptf, everything you could wish for…
I agree since anet doesn’t care about pvp, they should at least give players the tools to create their own maps, game modes etc like in other games, custom arenas would make a lot more sense that way.
PVP players: “Anet only cares about PVE!”
PVE Players: “Anet only cares about PVP!”
WvW Players: “Anet only cares about PVP and PVE”Funny thing about that is that I haven’t heard anyone say they only care about WvW…but you get my point. I’m pretty sure it’s been mentioned in a few different places (mostly outside interviews) that they are working on a new pvp mode but it’s not in a place where they could talk about what it is yet or when it would release. So they threw us a bone, but we probably aren’t going to hear more about it until it’s closer to being done or they want our input.
Thats not what anyone says. Whateveryone says is “they only care about living world”. The dungeon/fractals community says that, the wvw community says that, the spvp community says that.
Aside from that, no there are no new game modes. At the rate that gw2 delivers player-desired content, you can expect another game mode perhaps in 2014? Maybe early 2015. You can expect to probably never see GvG in the way the players want it. You can expect 2 more years until we see a new profession. 1 more year until we see new weapons and new weapon/class combinations added to the game.
Its sad but its true.
Bye random person. See you in two weeks when you make another copypaste complaint thread.
This game may have problems, and it’s obviously not living up to the ridiculous hype it has generated back in the day but it’s nowhere near as bad as these “OMG THE SKY IS FALLING!” threads make it out to be.
No need for sarcastic comments. Im just painting you a realistic picture of the state and future of guild wars 2. If the living story can’t cater to more than one section of content then guild wars 2 will continue to go downhill. No big expansions, no big features or content that you wanted.
I’m not being sarcastic. You will be back in a few weeks time to complain some more.
What you wrote is a typical copypaste complaint thread that pops up on all MMO forums. It’s purpose is attract some attention, nothing more.
Disregard all the good things, exaggerate every problem, doom and gloom tone. If you are really leaving then just leave. There is no shame in getting bored of a game after two years, you don’t have to look for excuses or c/p them from some other forum clown.
Many points aren’t exaggeration, it is true. What we know is Anet is gonna to focus on living story, open world and its gem store. Everything else is gonna take the back seat. For people who love those, great news. Anet is gonna continue making them. For those that don’t, too bad. They aren’t changing even if it alienate and push away the rest of them. You can’t please everyone.
They are an exaggeration.
Let’s just ignore the new zone because it’s too dry, improved LS/PS because reasons and a new set of achievements because doing those is for nerds. If you disagree you aren’t being honest to yourself. I promise I’m quitting!
That’s pretty much OP in a nutshell.
Thanks for summarizing me so well
Its not that the living story didn’t improve. They changed things, that were good, but also changed things and made things worse. On top of that, they still ignore what the community has been asking for, for so a while. They don’t really listen to other parts of the game that I have already mentioned, only living story.
Speaking of new zones. How many other MMO’s have you played? In 5 days I can proudly announce we’ve had 2 smaller sized zones added in 2 years! On top of that we’ve had 2 content updates for fractals/dungeon community. A few new spvp maps. 1 new overflow map for wvw. 2 really really cool megabosses, its sad they didn’t add more. In terms of content, Anet has added very little.
In terms of features they have added a lot, which is good. But Anet tends to be very scared about adding content as they don’t want to run into gw1 syndrome where the community got to spread out. They are doing the polar opposite of that now by looking at gw2’s history.
My summary applies to the above as well.
Its one thing if you genuinely like the living story and all that has been provided in the games history. If thats the case, then good. But to misconstrue my comments just makes you look pathetic lol. its okay for people to criticize GW2, especially with recent developments, it really deserves it.

I never said to any of you, who are getting upset, that if you like the living story, etc, then this game isn’t for you.
Yes, you did. You may not have meant it to come off that way, but it did.
This is the part that got those who disagree with you in an uproar:
“Anyway im giving up on this game because Anet really has pushed me and many other parts of the community away for only one part of the game. Interviews gave this away and if you all want to be honest with yourself, then you should do the same.”
You all means everyone, not most, not some. Of course I want to be honest with myself, but I’m overall pleased with the game. Your statement to me says that you think I’m still being dishonest with myself. That I’m lying to myself.
No I meant the people im referring to like I did throughout the entire post. WvW, sPvP, dungeons/fractals community, etc. People who want more than the living story.
This is more of a post where people who like the living story get extremely upset. Its that or people who still want to like guild wars 2 even though it will never probably never have any significant expansion like content as long as the living story is around.
Again, no need to have heated arguments about this. Im speaking to those who of the other communites of the game who tries believe they will get significant content updates. To those of you who know who you are, its been a good run but for now its probably time to find anothe rgame.
To those of you who do WvW/sPvP. There is a large amount of us going to archeage to specific servers. GvG guilds included.

No need for sarcastic comments. Im just painting you a realistic picture of the state and future of guild wars 2. If the living story can’t cater to more than one section of content then guild wars 2 will continue to go downhill. No big expansions, no big features or content that you wanted.
Thanks for taking the time to reply to the community.
For me, ive always enjoyed gw2 a lot, and its been a game since launch thats captivated me. I feel like after 2 years the game has gone in the wrong direction. The game was launched with so many facets of it that content could be delivered to. WvW, sPvP, dungeons, open world DE’s. Fractals and guild missions are other forms of content that seemed to come later.
However when we look at it, the route thats been taken is the living story route. The first time around, I felt the living story was just a means of delivering content(bi-weekly). Granted there was a specific narrative having taken place, yet none the less the content felt much more diverse. We saw dungeons(even if some were mistakenly temporary), revamped paths, fractals, guild missions, world bosses(twice). We also saw other parts of the game like WvW and sPvP getting content(not features) alongside the releases that was added.
This time around, I feel like the living story is both bi-weekly but also a very specific type of content we’re receiving. Its open world + living story instances which you feel will replace the permanent aspect that was lacking from season 1. The problem is that the new permanent content like the living story instances have no replayability. Most of them were well done but even then the achievements were not difficult like promised and the rewards were not that entising.
I’d also like to add that when we heard about permanent content, we figured that it wouldn’t be as narrow as the living story instances. There are definitely different types of content. Dungeons(dungeon path revamps), fractals, world bosses are some of those. Guild missoins could be another but I feel that part of the game has been abandoned mainly. Other forms of content that arn’t related to the story narrative exist, like maps and modes for other parts of the game(WvW, spvp).
Basically, what im trying to say is that the model for separatig content and features is good but the content we get doesn’t cover all the parts of the game(dungeons/fractals/spvp/wvw/guildmissions/etc).
Lets not make this too toxic of a post.
What I take from it is that Anet listens to a lot, most of what we post. I believe. Anet also “thinks” and “considers” a lot of things. This doesn’t really mean anything. I don’t want to hear that you are thinking about this or could do this, I wanna hear what you are actively working on. The only thing they’ve ever really been actively working on is the living story Expansion like features are far and few in gw2. What do people expect in expansions?
Well look at gw1 or other MMO’s and thats what they expect. The amount of content Anet has added to the game is not the problem, its the type of content. The recent living story doesn’t have much replayability. Dry top lost its replayability pretty quickly for me at least, which was about 2 weeks. The living story instances have absolutely no replayability. They are fun and interesting to do(sometimes very little gameplay, too much dialogue cicking), and at the end, the achievements are not hard at all. They are not replacement for dungeon type difficulty. About 5% of them have actually been difficult.
All this drama makes me more curious for the next two weeks of feature patch info. It’s funny to see the community rage one day and praise the day after.
I hope its good info. One thing I expect(perhaps only expected now) was a gambit system for dungeons. Something to keep them fresh and new. Who knows….There could be some really interesting things. I have no idea what is going to be there. Its certainly not going to be content which we already know.
I don’t know what to expect for this game anymore
There is no news from the devs working on!
They have told you what they are working on though. Season 2, feature patch, WvW tournament, sPvP tournament.
I never said to any of you, who are getting upset, that if you like the living story, etc, then this game isn’t for you. For probably the 10th time, I want to say.
Anet has made me feel and other feel lately by the PR theyve given that they really can’t do much besides the living story. They even posted on the forums today that they are constrained with what they can do (feature pack 2, living story 2). they also mentioned WvW tournaments but as a WvW players I don’t feel these are a substitute for content. Thats not what we ever asked for. To say otherwise is insane because of the backlash that was held on the forum. Granted they improved the system but still.
In the end, the living story is the business model they want to take, and arn’t really able to do anything else.
Agreed. All of their focuses and big selling points at launch have been abandoned for the living story.
Ehm .. what big selling points ? The biggest selling point has always been the open world
with dynamic events .. and never dungeons and especially not fractals.
And of course no raids / geargrind ..Euhm, a game like gw2 needs some kind of gear grind to keep players busy. I agree with the OP, the game has been focusing on the living world so much, that they abandoned everything else. I still know we had some kind of event every month/2 months, which could keep me busy. They dropped that, and gave us 1-2 days of content from the LS…
What is there to do at endgame? After 2 years of playing, people get bored of doing the same dungeons/fractals, without any goal to go for. If u dont like legendary’s, what else can u get??
We need more dungeons/fractals/skins/goals with rewards, and before anyone says we have enough skins in the game, for a game based on appearence, there really aint many endgame skins. I still login once in a while, only to see nothing changed, which is sad since gw2 has so much potential
Needs some kind of gear grind? There’s the Mawdrey for one.
As for what is there to do during endgame? I know 2 years worth of playtime can eventually bore someone out. What I do is make my own fun and just take my sweet-kitten time on what I do. If I get bored with PvE? I just do a couple of PvP with random strangers and hope that I win. If I get bored with that, I do WvW. If I get bored with THAT, I go back to PvE and maybe do something else like RPing with someone in a hometown.
While yes, this game does need dungeons and fractals, I am sure they will eventually add them (by their answer, that would mean no dungeon meant for Mordremoth, I think). I am willing to wait as long as it takes for that to happen.
To be honest dude. These are possibly the lowest standards you could have. This is a game thats taken 2 years to add 2 maps to pve. You really want to play a game like that? A game that even makes enough money to do more than that. With what you’re saying, you are the one pretty much creating content, by finding new things to do with existing content, not the devs. For any other MMO this is extremely sub-par for content standards.
We’ve begged for big meaty expansion features since day one and have only seen a few. Compared to guild wars 1 this game has such little content.

The game isn’t being designed with dungeon runners as their focus.
Wait… this is news? There hasn’t been a new dungeon since the last Fractals update, they’ve even SAID that their dedicated dungeon team was disbanded last year at some point.
The writing had been on the wall for some time… if you’re looking for challenging small or large group instanced content, this was not/is not/will not be the game for you.
This “news” is much ado about nothing.
Again, I didn’t even say dungeons lol. I said everything besides the living story which is a lot. Its just underwhelming for every other subforum here. They are just parts of the game waiting to die out.
Sounds to me like the game is just not for YOU personally anymore, OP.
its me, and everyone who wants content for wvw, spvp, dungeons, fractals, and pretty much anything different than the living story.
As long as their main focus is not on pvp but on living story and pve they do all right in my book. Those are the only things I care for and enjoy in the game.
They don’t need to have a main focus. They just don’t cater to any parts of the game but the terribly linear living story. The living story instances they add don’t even have any replayability. The achievements are insanely easy which takes away from its replayability. At least with dungeons they added the first time around those could definitely be done more than once.
Anyway im giving up on this game … and if you all want to be honest with yourself, then you should do the same.
I am sorry that you don’t like the game any more (ever?), but this part always makes me laugh, whenever anyone says it, or the similar “I’m leaving now, and because I’m going, it has failed, because I’m the benchmark”.
Are we in a teen boy-meets-girl comedy, and this is the part where the girl breaks up with the jock at the party and everyone has stopped and staring at the jock, and he’s all flustered, and says the inane thing that he says and follows it with, “Come on guys, lets go”, and none of his buddies seem eager to follow him?
Please tell me I’m not going to have to race you down the K-12.
A lot of people are going to have this response, especially after hearing about dungeons/fractals. Like I said, it snot like im monthly paying, but as someone who has been extremely dedicated to gw2 and the devs, this is kinda the last straw after so many failures. I will always come back in a heartbeat if anything good is done like an expansion.
You post seems to be a week early.
Maybe hold off until we see what the new PvE feature part of the feature patch holds and then make a judgment.
For me at least this is their last chance to show they are actually working on PvE content and not just smoke and mirrors. If next week doesn’t have some hefty PvE content then I am inclined to agree with you.
You won’t be getting any content in the feature patch, just new systems I hope. It really makes me sad that this is how the devs have chosen to drive the game. Im just telling you how it is. i’ll link you the interview regarding the PVE if you want.

Please take the time to read this post ive thought an enormous amount about this, please don’t remove it either im not trying to be cynical, just realistic to the playerbase who commits to this game for specific reasons.
After all of gamescon and recent interviews, what we’ve pretty much obtained from the devs is “if you like wvw, spvp, fractals/dungeons, then too bad because we’re working too much on the living story to do any content/features for that.”
What we learned from gamescon interviews.
- No new dungeons planned for a while, too much effort, fractals easier. Fractals have only ever had 1 update which shows how little committment they had. They specifically said “there are so many parts of the game to commit to thats its hard to do this as well”.
- WvW updates comes extremely infrequently as well. And when they do, we get what happened with this feature pack. A handful of changes that take a week.
- sPvP has taken 2 years to develop to a state thats almost esport-ish. We still have like 3 new maps and 1 gamemode after 2 years. This is not even remotely close to enough development to support an esports type of scene.
All of these things were big things at launch, implemented in the game. Bigger than the LS that didn’t exist then. For some reason this has changed. Anet still has their eye set on the living story.
At least with the first living stoyr we saw a diveristy in content, which was yes a complaint which is why they separate living story from feature patch now. But there are so many things that are considered content that don’t fit in the living story or features patches. Let me give a list
Fractals
WvW maps
sPvP maps/modes
New dungeons or revamped dungeons
Guild missions(also completely abadoned)
At first I had some hope that “hey well the devs technically can find a place to fit this in during the living story, they just need to give a lore reason behidn it so it fits in the story.” Thats exactly what they did in the first season. Except this tiem around they show no interest in doing anything but open world content and living story instances. They sound like they actually can’t do more than that because its too much.
Anyway im giving up on this game because Anet really has pushed me and many other parts of the community away for only one part of the game. Interviews gave this away and if you all want to be honest with yourself, then you should do the same.
I don’t hate the living story by any means, but if its all Anet can do, then they’ve failed. If they have no other big projects in the background then they will dissappoint the community even more because what they are doing right now is not working at all.
Mesmer needs help, i get it but buffing this cancerous condi build that they have? You are basically promoting no skill gameplay and if this build ever rolls into the meta, that is last nail in the coffin for your so called competitive play. WvW roaming will be deemed dead as well as all you will see is PU mesmers and P/D thieves ( you already see endless of this brain dead OP spec).
What cracks me up is how you PvP’ers think the game revolves around you. Mesmer has one spec that you can’t face roll, and you all start crying. Ever hear of a cleanse? Know how to use that skill? No, instead of thinking up a strategy to counter, you all start whining. The mesmer finally gets a buff, and the sky is falling.
Did you ever think that Condition Mesmer in PvE might need a buff, and this scepter change was much needed, so they can actually kill something? Sure, it’s doable now, but it takes forever. Did you ever think that your incessant whining about mesmer a is the reason Mesmers are nothing more than a support portal-bot in PvE? No, you don’t because all you care about is yourself.
There is literally no class in game that will be able to cleanse the amount of condi’s put on this by this new. Shame on you, you even play a mesmer, and you are promoting players to play what will end up being, literally, the easier spec in game. I guarantee you that within 1 day of playing mesmer I could beat 90% of the community with the new PU lol.
You have extremely high access to every condition. Especially bleeds and torment. The bound trait getting buff, buffs staff condis a ton. The scepter auto attack with clones inflicting torment auto attack is awful. Those two alone literally only rely on you to press one to win because of how quickly you’ll stack bleeds/burning/torment on the enemy. Thats awful.
The other day I asked about the communities current satisfaction(or lack there of) with the amount of update to dungeons/fractals.
Its been confirmed in an interview at gamescon that Anet have no plans to really add any dungeon content. TA aether was apparently a big endeavor for them and theyd rather stick to small QoL changes. That being said, theyd also prefer to do fractals since its less work.
Looks like you guys will be playing the same content for the next 6 months at least. Its really unfortunate how the living story hogs all the resources. Im just waiting for it to go if this is the reality we have to live with.

NaCI(ep + agg), NS, TE, HOPE, ark(i think), RS, tup, vE, dF, LaG, Dius.
Its a DDOS they can’t do anything lol. Check wildstar, check runescape, check LOL. They have all been DDOSed over the last 2-3 days by the same group. Do a little research first.
Thanks. I’ll check it out for sure.
