So far the page looks like this. No worries, it’s going get some visual improvements next.
Looks good!
You seem to have missed the colon right before the double slash in all of the links, ie https : //…
Also, on the elementalist section Abe’s name link to my channel while my name link to his.

I still get angry with arcane brilliance occasionally not counting as a blast and when it doesn’t register my weapon swaps fast enough before I press the skill key. Latency issues I guess.
Particlar #1!
<3
Arcane Brilliance is 100% a blast finisher, only difference that was made is that you have to be in a field when the skill is first casted. A few patches ago you could ‘run into’ a combo field and get the effect.
Weapon swap not registering is the worst. I hate being stuck in only offhand dagger.
You can even do “better” than that with the blasting staff abuse
I propose the trick of abusing icebow, meteor shower, glyph of storms, smite and similar skills like this to be called ‘pain rain’.
Hey, this sounds like a cool idea.
Profession: Elementalist, dungeons and solos with a focus on fractals.
Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbcZGdtw7A57JnJI61XnZ8w
About: Channel for KING’s fractal guides but I will continue to push out elementalist related videos. My current project is to get updated elementalist specific guides on all fractals.
It’s explained in the video, although maybe its not very clear.
I use Ice Spike (#2 in staff water) three times under the Elemental Source to break the icicle on the top, which is the thing summoning the ‘swirling winds’.
Helloo fellow elementalists
I’ve decided to make specific fractal guide videos for elementalist.
I want to do this because I feel there are so many little things an ele can do in fractals and to optimise you need to change builds and weapons frequently.
I’ve now finished the first one which is over Snowblind.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTAd4R5eGyA
Please let me know what you think!
I plan to make elementalist guides on all of the fractals. Let me know if anything is annoying, unclear or needs improvements.
Have a good one!
(edited by Snowball.3497)
I formulated this reply with in mind that of course anything works. Any party composition, using any builds, can and will eventually finish any content in this game.
I was simply arguing about why elementalist is considered #1/#2 tier in fractals.
elementalists effective in fractals ahahahahahahahahahaha
I don’t even know what an ele offers to make it #1/#2.
Out of 14 fractals there’s only four fractals I see where an ele isn’t a necessity;
Mai Trin, Underwater, Jade Maw, Aetherblade.
All of the others become a lot smother when an ele is present, or have tactics that only an ele makes possible. Below are points only an ele would be able to bring to a party.
- Swamp – Mossman FGS, bloomhunger FB/Meteor shower
- Ascalon – Staff AoE and support, FB, ranged aoe blind
- Harpy – Old Tom safe house, FB/Meteor on end boss
- Cliffside – FGS archi
- Molten Facility – FGS/FB big pull at the end of the drill phase
- Snow – Line up meteor showers/FB against Ice elemental
- Grawl – Staff AoE against grawl, unblockable chill on shaman, Meteor/FB on elemental spawns
- Thaumanova Facility – Fast kill against ooze, allow for a 3 or 4 way split because of safe solo in prison room.
- Molten Duo – Fast/Easy kill on molten berserker and firestorm
- Dredge – FGS powersuit for a safe 15s kill, FB/Meteor dmg against ice elemental boss
The four mentioned fractals where an ele don’t shine as much;
- Mai Trin – Time difference with or without ele is 0, can protect the party from 100% of the pistol shots without lowering its own damage.
- Underwater – Very seldomly done
- Jade Maw – Time difference with or without ele is 0
- Aetherblade – Easy solo on the two traps, fgs on end. All in all, no big time difference if team is reliable.
Apart from whats already been mentioned, an ele provide ranged AoE blind, 15+ might stacks, permanent fury, close to permanent chill or cripple against bosses, good weakness, projectile block, coordinated deep freezes, good vuln stacking, cc and support.
All this while staying on top of the dps chart.
The only negative point I see is ele being squishy. But then again do eles have 300 range melee attack with Lightning whip making some bosses easy to survive. Fractals are no different from dungeons, saying an ele is not worth it because it goes down easily reflects only on the player.

Update!
We have changed the amount of rounds as follows.
1, Free-for-all Qualifying Round
2, Semi Finals
3, Finals
The first round is open to every team who wants to participate.
Teams that will have ranked 5 to 8 will be rewarded but will not progress to the Semifinals.
The second round, or Semifinals, will consist of the top 4 from the free-for-all, the top two teams in terms of point will proceed to the Finals, where they will face each other in one last round of ultimate destiny to decide the victor!
Please note that there is now 48h until the signup closes!
So ready your team and send a message to any of our organisers. Make sure you have at least one person in your team that can stream while playing.
Due to general feedback we have chosen to change the rules.
There are now only Four Rules:
- You can’t switch character. (You are allowed to relog the same character for repairs)
- All pathways that are designed to block progress through the path must be opened. You may not have any party member(s) get past blocked passages until the required sequence/dialogue has been completed.
- You will be disqualified if it is evident that your party has deliberately abused positioning to disable a boss. This means safe spotting a boss, line of sighting to cause a boss to break, etc.
- You can’t use gem store consumables and tomes of knowledge – other consumables are welcome.
Teams that have registered are free to drop out or change their composition. If there is any question feel free to contact any of the organisers given in the OP.
Thanks for your feedback!
Please don’t make this thread a hub for exploits in fractals. There is no need to explain how different skips are reproduced.
We’ve read your concerns about them, just because no change have yet come from your feedback does not mean we don’t listen.
Thanks for understanding

So let’s compare D/F and S/F.
Both run identical builds of 66200. Both run identical utilities,
- Signet of Fire
- Lightning Hammer
- Arcane Wave
- Arcane Brilliance
Might stack capabilities with D/F is 5 blasts excluding the LH AA blast.
Might stack capabilities with S/F is 6 blasts excluding the LH AA blast, even though the 6th (comet) is rarely utilised unless target is on the fire field.
S/F takes longer time to blast than D/F, making it difficult to have time for 2 additional blast from the LH AA while D/F have an easier time doing this.
The only difference in a DPS rotation I can see is:
- Initial Dragon’s Tooth + Phoenix burst compared to D/F burst
- Lightning strike
- 0-1 blast
Considering other party members should be helping out with might blasts and 25 should be met no matter if the ele has 6 + LH or 5 + LH blasts I see very small difference.
This might be personal preference, but I find D/F having a more dynamic rotation on maintaining the might stacks, aswell as not rending you useless if you ever get locked out of LH.
I love LH with D/F in fractals. With this reasoning I don’t see why it would be bad.
Is the weapon damage the difference? Enlighten me please!
(edited by Snowball.3497)
Registration deadline is the 19th of july.
Just message any of the contact persons or post a team here that wants to participate. You don’t need to have the complete party composition to sign up.
You can see what teams have signed up already here: http://bit.ly/1nVeIRP
Why am I always joining too late on ele fractal discussions
First off, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuwaTr6E4Os
Albiet this video is an elementalist solo done before the recent patch it shows the tactic on how to approach Mai.
As for build, would I go again I would go for 66002. The video shows terrible use of blasts, keeping a 9-15 stacks of might with permanent fury isn’t that difficult, we just have to have in mind not to misuse any skill that we would need later (panic button magnetic wave if the reaction with ring of earth is too slow).
As for barrage phase, I think an ele has a good set of defensive skills to use. With attunements and sigil of energy you have 3 dodges and an invulnerable to your disposal. Might be luck on my part, but I find myself going down by not seeing electric swirls more often than the cannon phase.
I would love to go and solo her again. I reckon with a bit more offensive tactic and over all better play the total time shouldn’t be that much higher even after the patch.
I’m not sure why so many people are under the impression that warrior is the best for this boss solo. If I had more AR on my ele I’d be DYING to try this with D/F on level 50. ALL DEM PROJECTILE BLOCKS <3
Not to mention that hella nice cleave range with air auto.
Pretty much the only part that I’m sure would p*ss me off would be the cannon phase, seeing as you have to move like a freaking cheetah when solo to outrun those AoEs.
Do it. Stop talking about it all the time, just do it.
Edit: Also, big grats to you Sesshi. Well done!

The point allocation format will roughly be one point per minute a fractal on average takes KING to complete.
This means, for example
First fractal – X awards: 3 points
First fractal – Y awards: 6 points
Second fractal – Z awards: 7 points
X fractal in this case takes KING on average 3 minutes to complete.
Y fractal takes 6 minutes and Z fractal takes 7 minutes on average.
Additional to this bonus points will be awarded to teams completing second and third tier fractals. This is to keep it interesting and reward progression. You’re free to roll swamp over and over if you think you can win by doing so.
and I thought we were fast on our duo just before that.
I’d be up to try to beat this. I had fun last night and I can definitely do better.
I would love to see some kind of reply from ANet.
We are trying to give contructive feedback and keep the discussion going forward, however does it begin to feel futile with the lack of answers.
I come from GW2Community and we have some concerns about the coming timers.
We feared our input would be drowned down in following comments in this thread, since this is general feedback and our concerns are rather specific.
Our post can be seen here
Thank you for reading it!
I would just like to add that GW2Community agrees with your concerns.

Well put Mkkoll, this sums up the thoughts of our 800+ big community.
We have also talked to other similar communities which all shares our concerns, but I won’t speak for them.

My guild have pushed towards making tactics in Fractals of the Mist more wellknown, which can be seen from the youtube playlist in my signature.
However I figured I could try to help out here aswell.
Mentor name: Particlar
Active dungeons: Fractals of the Mist
Availability: Differs from each day, but highest peaks on Saturday.
Languages: English, Swedish (on the off chance English wouldn’t suffice)
Contact: in-game mail, whisper or through the forum
Communication: Teamspeak or chat, either works but VoIP is preferred
Message: I am likely to teach by doing, meaning I will form a party with students and go into the highest level said students have AR for. Also my specialty is elementalist.
I think the tips have already come through.
I would say all different professions would be able to solo her, here is a Elementalist Solo of it
Nice compilation of tips!
I just want to put out a guide we from [KING] have been working on since some months back. Dredge in particular I find not many people are efficient with!
Please come with tips for improvements or any tactic you find less effective. We will try to keep the playlist up to date with every patch and change that come.
Elementalist Solo Mai Trin lvl 49 Particlar – http://youtu.be/KuwaTr6E4Os
Cliffside duo lvl 49 Particlar & Arathorian – http://youtu.be/kBEU72AeQzg
Duo Molten Duo lvl 49 Particlar & Arathorian – http://youtu.be/qh8JX76ym4A
I do now when I look at it feel I went a bit defensive at some points, but overall it was a fun solo.
Definitely felt good after I managed to do it, specially since it was the first try!
Helloo, Particlar here.
This time doing a solo on Mai Trin Fractal lvl 49. I’ve been wanting to do this solo since Aetherblade came back as a fractal but simply haven’t had the chance.
Link: Elementalist Solo Mai Trin lvl 49
In this video you will see something not many knows of ring of earth (D/ Earth #2).
It blocks projectiles, begining when the animation is at its peak and stays up for about 2 seconds. Radius seems to be around 300 range.
I hope you don’t mind the music, and have a great weekend!
I got the video done!
I hope this video can show how you can survive on an elementalist on Mai Trin Fractal
Elementalist Solo Mai Trin lvl 49
For Mai Trin
- Go D/F because focus is amazing and dagger provides more utility than scepter for this fight. (…)
- Use Swirling Winds to block shadowstep shots if you don’t have someone baiting them. Swirling Winds will block that projectile but won’t block the lightning projectiles. (…)
Also, as others have said, Mai Trin’s gap closer is Undodgeable. You need to block it. Swirling Winds, Magnetic Wave, Obsidian Flesh, and Arcane Shield just for yourself are plenty.
In addition to DEKeyz and Neko’s post on Mai Trin I would like to mention Ring of Earth (#2 D/ Earth), which would be the main reason why D/ is superior to S/.
Although this skill does not say anything about blocks, it negates projectiles.
The block starts when the animation is on its peak and is up for about 2 seconds. (Meaning block is up way after the animation have disappeared). The radius is bigger than the tooltip’s 240, my guess would be ~300
I always choose to sit in earth to block 100% of her teleports before her stacks gets below ~5.
I’m working on a lvl 49/50 solo on her atm, so hopefully I can come back and edit in some visual aid on what I mean.
(edited by Snowball.3497)
This is because we recently did a transfer to another host. If you look at the first join date you can see that no member is more than three weeks old. NiP guild has 400 people atm.
Within the community we have a schedule where we daily kill wurm together with 200+ people on our teamspeak.
Tequatl usually doesn’t need as many people and Desolation already kills him ~8 times per day. However we still form an overflow together at least once a day to take down the Sunless.
We have done 6min Knights, but since its still bugged there’s no reason for it until it gets fixed
Just join us on ts.gw2community.com if you’d like to see it on your own

Fractals is to me ere for two big reasons.
First off to tell side stories along with the living story o put further depth into the lore.
Secondly to provide difficult content for people who enjoy such to be challenged.
Therefore I think the evolution of fractals, simply put, should continue with its goals.
Make more fractals and make us able to chose them to be darn difficult
Cheers!
Bump again!
We got a bit bigger since last but we’re still looking for a few more.
Desolation does him all the time. No organisation needed, people show up and do what they are supposed to.
The time of when it’s done: 12:00 AM – 02:00 AM (8 times per day)
The time zone: GMT
The average numbers: 120 people
And the average success rate: 99%
Also, see http://gw2dragons.com/dragons/leaderboard for stats.

Proposal overview
While many people despise difficult content like how tequatl was, the great jungle wurm is and maybe high level fractals there is still a lot of players who love being challanged. Make fractal the place for the most coordinated of groups. Where the task would look close to impossible at first glance. (ie. Wurm content for 5 players)
Goal of Proposal
Continue Fractals hard content by adding much more challanging content to create a place for the dedicated players and keep them interested.
Proposal Functionality
I believe the instabilities are steps towards the right direction, higher health pools and damage isn’t adding to the difficulty.
Add more crazy and interesting instabilities, such as:
- Hardcore: You cannot resurrect or be revived.
- Weak Link : If one party member dies, all dies. No down state.
- Rushed for time: Timer begins to count when a player gets in combat. You have XX amount of time to get out of combat, if failed the fractal is reseted.
Take inspiration from GW1 elite areas, also make it as unforgiving.
For this to work a system that make it impossible to skip levels would have to be implemented.
Associated Risks
- Many people complain about difficult content, which would make a part of the game inaccessible for the casual player.
Solution: Let no unique item or achievement point be given towards completion. A title or similar would suffice. - If players can’t skip levels it will make it harder to find groups.
Solution: Make it possible for players to join their friends in any level, but the title would not be given until all levels have been completed.
(edited by Snowball.3497)
I don’t mean to start a riot, but I would love to have an update on how the fractal leaderboards are going?
As for suggestion, make us harder content!
A lot of players love to challange themselves, hose players have loved the tequatl and wurm update.
I would love to see an update to fractals (higher tiers or what not) which made it seem close to impossible to complete at first glance
(edited by Snowball.3497)
1, Transparency between player and developers. Hopefully this CDI is a step in the right direction!
2, Make fractals more balanced in length. Tier 3 fractals varies hugely in length, they can take 5min or 25min depending on what roll you get. Dredge needs to be shortened.
3, Higher levels, new fractals, let us progess
Bump, we’ve reworked our recruitment process and requirments.
At the moment all that is at Firthside Vigil Waypoint is two tents, a fire place, five Vigil soldiers and a handful of skritt.
Correction, there also is over a hundred of adventurers and heroes gathering around to hear more of the rumour of the giant wurm.
But yeah, two tents is a bit silly. Not even dredges could fit 150 people in two tents

http://i.imgur.com/RTKR8dw.jpg – After party
ANet developer came in after about 20-30min and resetted the map.
We managed to go into the new zone about 15min before spawn and had a blast during the event.
Thanks for the quick reply AN!
Well done lads!
I am so proud of us all
As have been noted before some of the achievements on the new Triple Trouble section are completely flawed.
I’m talking about Wurm Demolitionist and Wurmslayer, which really encourages the event to fail.
Wurm Demolitionist need 30 placed kegs to get the achievement which is a problem in its own.
However the main problem is Wurmslayer.
Even after the successful kill on Desolation of the wurm almost no one have this achievement. This is because you need to be at each wurm head when it spawns and kill it that time.
This encourages people to leave their post after successful decapitation to run towards the wurm head they still need.
This forces the entire entire map to either choose to go for a kill, or go for one of the wurm heads. Every time 1/3 of the server will then be fighting in vain since they already have the chosen wurm head kill.
I am sorry for this not being structured, but I don’t know how to put it clearly.
I just find myself in the position that the second phase wont get reached unless players go to the wurm they are experienced with, and that locks them from finishing the Wurmslayer achievement since they are at the wurm head they already have killed.
Suggestion: PLEASE change this so that everyone on the map gets the progress of a killed wurmhead once said head have died.
New video of [KING] in fractals
Bump this up!
[KING] is still looking for a few more members!
Watch our latest video!
Feel free to contact us through the forums or ingame!
With the new patch the utility skill on Elementalists “Arcane Wave” were changed to 900 range AoE.
Thing is this works the same way underwater, which doesn’t work as great as above.
Pretty sure that is considered a bug
I go with usual fresh air build
0 / VI, X, XII / VI/ V or IV, VI / VI or V
I use D/F with damage multiplier and sigil of energy,
S/D in fractals where melee isn’t that supported, then with sigil of battle
Staff where control/aoe/long range really shines. For example Ascalon fractal or Molten Boss (given you are not meleeing berserker)
Slot Skills:
Arcane Shield
Lightning Flash
Signet of Fire/Arcane Wave/Mist form/something else i need
Heal skill:
Ether renewal for usual play
Glyph when a fast heal is needed and signet to negate varius fractals/mlock levels.
Other than that keep Swirling up when needed, put down fire fields, go invun/reflect in earth focus and smack those mobs with lightning whip
