What CPU and what speed is it running at ?
What GPU and CPU usuage are you getting with said framerates.
Where in GW are u getting said framerates? WvW or normal PvE environments?
Once you answere these i can give you my thoughts
Good list, only problem i see there is that its a full sized ATX mothebroard and case. I beleve he really needs a mATX or ITX board/case for portability.
All components when bought seperatly have warenty, so no worries there.
As for a good prebuilt, i sugest you look at retail prebuilds not company prebuilds.
Mainly becouse company prebuilds like alienware, HP, etc tend to have alot of OEM parts and are more expensive than prebuilds made by retail companies like Novatech, overclocker.co.uk etc. The retail sites bassicaly sell a prebuilt computer made from the parts they sell.
Examples: Overclockers.co.uk: This link is to there mini ITX Lan gaming rigs, you should change the graphics card in the options to a 660ti imo. so add £180 to the prices shown in the list. So maybe the “Titan Prodigy X” a tad over £1k Has a OC’d cpu which is nice, a good gpu if changed in the options and a SSD ..overall a nice compact gaming rig imo. (highlight link & copy and past link, or click and navigate your way to ‘Full systems’ then ‘Prodigy Lan gaming systems’

Novatech: These are full sized rigs
http://www.novatech.co.uk/pc/?s=5
Scan: They do have some small rigs but they are over £1100, rest under £1000 are full sized. (Their prices shown are EXCLUDING VAT, so add 20%)

You know just from browsing the forums i noticed somone got there name forcebly changed becouse it also happend to be a name of a murderer.
Now correct me if im wrong but the name does not make one a murderer ..the act of murdering makes you a murderer.
If you made all the names of murderers un usuable you would pritty much make all names unusable. Think that your being to prudish here Anet :P (and you cant just pick and choose certain murderers over others, thats rediculous..all or none)
An extreme example ..“hitler” ..do you have any idea how many hitler’s there actually are lol ..just becouse one happend to be a WW2 enemy figure head does not make said name/word evil -.-
offensive words ..yes banned.. actual names ..they should be allowed.
just to note, i make up my own real names (not descripted words like “supreme destroyer” or some such) ..none of which to my knowledge are murderers :P
You could try opening up your computer and reseating everything and unpluging and re attaching all leads. it may just be a loose connection.
Ah in that case you should have an easier time getting higher performance parts.. since as you can see from my previouse list, £1k is stretched to limit when trying to build a gaming computer from the ground up.
Still… use that list and just move the money, from things you dont need, to the cpu, mothebroard, & GPU. Those tend to be the most expensive and important parts in regards to gaming.
So you could probably get a 660ti or 670 gpu with the saved cash aswell as put maybe £20 or £30 extra into the cpu/mothebroard. Or even stick with a 560ti, and save the cash from the monitor and mouse/keyboard and wait for the 700 series gpu’s to come out next year in Q1/Q2. .. or just save it period
Anyway hope that helps, if you have any questions about a specific products in regards to compatability or performance ill gladly help.
I worked out real quik how much money you should be looking at for the certain areas/parts of the computer. Like i said in my previouse posts, this is assuming you need EVRYTHING that makes up a desktop PC ..if you already have certain items like a mouse and keyboard i recommend sinking that saved money into the cpu/motherboard area and/or the graphics card.
£300 cpu, motherboard, heatsink&fan,thermal paste
£160 gpu (560ti)
£60 ram
£120 monitor (19" 1440×900)
£60 case
£90 mouse & keyboard
£60 psu (500 or 600watt)
£75 speakers (5.1 system)
£50 HDD (500gb – 1Tb)
£25 DVD RW
£1000 total
To be honest since you need all companents such as monitor, speakers, keyboard etc ( i asume this is correct) with a £1k max limit budget, you probably wont be able to get a computer that will last more than 2 years before it could need an upgrade, depending on when you deam performance to have droped to a unplayable level, you could make it last 3 years.
However aslong as you buy recent hardware will most definatly last a 1 year +
As for guides, just go onto google and look for youtube ‘how to build a desktop pc’ ..and choose your poison.. there are loads of vids, pick one and it should help.
The only tool you will need is a philips screwdriver, heatsinks nowerdays as far as i know are screw on.. not the old horrible clip on (they were annoying).
Heres a total list of parts you will need for a complete computer.
mATX Case
Powersuply
mATX motherboard
CPU
CPU heatsink & Fan
CPU Thermal Paste (some heatsinks come with thermal paste)
RAM (recommend 8gb+)
Soundcard (optional if motherboard has onboard sound)
Graphics card
HardDisk Drive (HDD) and/or SolidState Drive (SSD)
Optical Drives i.e CD ROM/CD RW, DVD ROM/DVD RW, BD/BD RW
Card Reader (optional)
Monitor or TV
Keyboard
Mouse
Mouse Mat (optional if you have a hard surfice to use)
Speakers
Safety: Anti-static wristband (i dont use them, but if you worried they are only a couple pounds)
Well the X51 uses a mini ITX case, i recommended a micro ATX ..which are bigger, BUT have no restrictions of power and such.
if your worried about space inside in regards to how hard it will be to put stuff together , the mini ITX well be VERY cramed up inside.
All mini ITX cases are as small as the X51, Not all Micro ATX cases are small though. They are ether ‘small’ tower units, or a box unit.
The problem with cases lke the x51 is that they tend to come with very weak powersupplies ..usualy under 300 watts (i beleve the x51 comes with a 240 or 330watt). The average “gaming” PC needs at minimum 500 watts to be safe, anything less and you potentialy restrict what you can use.
So you probably wont want a Case as small as the X51 tbh.
However alot of LAN gamers use Micro ATX boxes as they are small enough to move yet powerfull enough to game properly.
Some Micro ATX boxes.
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/cases/cases/rc-343-kkn1-gp.html

Well overclockers.co.uk do their own prebuilt computers, you could take a look at those if you want. And most websites have computer bundles that can be addapted. But again they are more expensive than building it yourself ..which as a student i suspect saving money is high on your priorities (ex uni student here )
I highly recommend just looking up some youtube vids of how to put a computer together, there are plenty on there and can give you an idea of what your in for. To be honest putting a computer together so it works is easy..the hard part is overclocking ..but since you aint going to do that there is no need to worry.
I use a 560ti gpu and it is my bottleneck (check sig)
In Lions Arch it maxes out and i get on average 45fps on MAX settings at 1920×1080 (native sampling).
i can say that unless your friend is looking at the sky or has lower settings, he wont be getting 80 fps.
Greetings.
you can most deffinatly build your own computer for alot less than buying prebuilt one. And yes Alienware is ost deffinatly overpriced, they are one of the most expensive prebuilt computers to buy. Your bassicaly paying for the ‘looks’ and the name with Alienware..of which their name is quikly becoming a bad punchline :P
now im asuming you in England since you stated £’s. So ill advise you look at these websites for parts.
novatech.co.uk
scan.co.uk
dabs.com
overclockers.co.uk
Those 4 should have the cheapest prices between them and everything you could possibly want in a computer.
I know this beocouse a couple months ago i built my rig using their websites.. mainly novatech and dabs, but theo ther 2 were helpfull in deciding on parts and also had very simular prices. the main difference is that Novatech has free delivery without increased product cost. Also Novatech was the only one that was willing to make me a deal on the price since i spent about £1000 with them on vairouse parts ..ended up getting about £100 off their website prices
In terms of putting the computer together, they are reltivly simple once you get over the initial “omg that looks complicated” ..nearly everything can only be put into 1 place. Now the smaller the case, the less room you have inside ot put stuff together and ‘generaly’ less airflow, so i hope our not thinking of overclocking.
For a small rig you will want a mATX motherboard (micro atx) and a case that fits a mATX board. Other than that everything else is the same for all desktop PC’s that i can think of.
ill asuming you will need a mouse and keyboard and possible speakers ? if you do i sugest getting logitech ones for all of that, they are reliable good quality and their prices are pritty good.
EDIT: oh and one last thing. AMD may be cheaper but i highly advise you go with Intel, they perform alot better and atm GW2 runs better with Intel.
Feel free to send me a PM for more advice about parts once you have looked at those websites.

Alienware : Overpriced hunks of junk.
Ok maybe not total hunks of junk but they are most deffinatly overpriced. I HIGHLY recommend NOT buying an Alienware.
Asus,, Acer, MSI, Clevo ..etc.. are the ones i recommend you look at.
You can usualy find really good products with the less known companis, since those companies have to build good quality and reasonably priced products to get well known in the firts place. unlike Dell/Alienware who a verywell known and are thus milking poeple for money with relativly poor quality/value products.
For example BTO Notebooks.
Just doing some quick googling and i found out about these guys. Never heared of them myself, and even though their website isnt english i coudl still chekc out their laptops. Even me, who has alway used desktops for gaming, am impressed by their laptop rigs, they looks like monster gaming platforms and you can get a really nice one for around 1000 euros. Their performance models range from 850 to 2000 euros.
Though with that said i still stand by desktops for ‘pure’ gaming performance

“unimportant PvE "
ROFL
Im an equal pvp and pve’er. So i take both sides of these ever ongoing pvp vs pve war :P
So when a person one from side of the argument uses a statement like that one, i really do have ot laugh and comment.
MMORPG. at their core are PVE, its what everything else is bassed on. Granted some games can seperate their pvp. GW2 has pritty much done that by auto leveling people to 80 and such. HOWEVER to say that the other side (the oposite to which ever side your on: pvp or pve) is unimportant, is rediculous.
There is no ‘end’ to pvp so i understand where the OP is coming form when he says that pve players will inevitably leave and pvp’er will stay. Now its not 100% true but its close enough.. pvp’er do tend to stay on longer. However pvp’er and the content they use requirs alot less time and investmant.
Once Anet sorts out the hacking issues you will be able to have just as much fun pvp’ing and testing your skill (what little is required in a tab targeter) against others as when if there was ratings and such. The game has only been ou for a little while so relaxe. the advantage of liking and playing both pvp and pve is that you can swap to the other when one gets boring due to limited ‘types’ of gameplay. I sugest if your mainly a pvp’er to ether learn to like pve ..or play another game alongside GW2 whilst it develops.
Games can be really weired when it comesot motion sickness .. Now i never get it. My old man on the other hand used to get motion sickness with the old FPS games. Doom, Quake, DukeNukem 3d, due ot the very enclosed nature of the game and their unatural speed of movement. I loved them, but my father in the end stoped playing them.
I do feel for anyone who has this issue, specialy with a mmo, since if it was a certain FPS, their are plenty of others to chose from, a MMO on the other hand ..well.. there are a limited number of ‘good ’mmo’s out there.
I had heared there was FOV mod out, hence why i mentioned it.. i did not know it was enclosed with an all you can eat cheat & hack pack >.< . So i guess the only thing you can do is wait or put up with it
I first played a warrior to level 25 ish ..liked it. This was on my old mans account though since i was waiting for stock to come back in to buy GW2.
Once i got my own copy i actually made a guardian. And she is now almost level 80.
Guardians are very versitile imo. I play with GS mainly, i have no need to switch to a secondary weapon atm. probably will once i hit 80 and go to the 80 area in Orr. But untill then i just stick with GS and have a pure dps setup with stats. The only defence being the guardian skills. and base plate armor defence. ( i dont bother wiht toughness and vitality stats).
You can end up solo’ing things and certain events that usualy take a minimum of 2 people.
For example:
There is a event in Mount Maelstrom where u need to guard 3 ‘oblisk’ type things whilst they work their magic on the volcanoe. you usualy see 2 or 3 ..or more people guarding each one.
I ended up guarding one solo and kept it operational the whole time, whilst the other 2 ended up going off and on like a yoyo and getting overrun even with 3 people guarding. Now im not saying im pro …. i think being a Guardian deffinatly had somthing to do with it
When it happend to me it was totaly random. i could go a day (5+hours) without crashing .. then the next day it could crash within 30 minutes. .then again 2 hours later. then again 1 hour.
i actually put up wiht it for a long time ..months ..before i decided to finaly sort out my OS.

If you havnt done it yourself .. and the pc has not been sold as overclocked .. then your not overclocked
bassicaly if a CPU in retails says it runs at 3.2ghz. You can ,asuming its the right type of cpu i.e K at the end of the number like i7 2600K, and you have a good motherboard, change that 3.2ghz to say 4ghz by increasing certain values within the bios.. like cpu multiplier and cpu voltage. This increases the speed of the cpu at the expense of increased heat due to higher voltages runing through the chip.. Thats why aftermarket cooling is required i.e high end air cooling and mid to high end water cooling.
its actually ALOT more complicated than that when you get into it but thats the basics of it
(edited by SolarNova.1052)
IIRC there is a FOV mod, but i beleve its also against the TOS/EULA.
So i recommend you do… …not… use it :P

The Ivybridge cpu’s run nice and cool at stock speeds. So i wouldnt worry at all tbh.
The only time you need to worry is when you overclock, Once an ivybridge gets to a certain volt/heat threshold the temperatures go through the roof (due to the smaller chip size & a few other factors), thats why they dont OC very well compared to Sandybridge.
I used to get that on my Old system (Qx6850 cpu rig). it stoped once i formated my drives and reinstalled my OS.
Might be that, for what ever repair your computer went for, the people fixing it may have done forced/hard shutdowns one to many times and ballsed up the OS. A corrupted OS could be causing the audio bug.
As for RAM going wrong, that is another possible falt but i find that ‘sound’ tends comes out of the mothebroard speaker as a constant beep rather than through main speakers/headset.
RAM faIt beeps may well come out of main speakers though, its just i’ve never had it happen.
I’d sugest a SB cpu over a IB if you want to OC. So a i5 2500k would be nice. + Noctua NH-D14 heatsink&fan ..best air cooling you can get.
As for GPU i personaly think you should get a 500 series. .maybe a 560ti or 570. And put some money away to buy a 770 or 780 when they are released somtime late Q1/early Q2 next year.
Currently im level 73 and im using Major Divinty x4 and Major Eagle x2 With Greatsword and dps orientated traits. Armor stats are Power, Precision, Crit damage Same with Weapon and Accesories. Using Sigil of perception for stacking 25x 10 Precision stats.
Using the guardian skills as the only defense + norn worm racial for aggro managment and using the stats to boost offense, im breezeing through the pve content solo, out damaging alot of ‘pure’ dps classes i see around doing the same content.
Switch over to Intel ..specialy if you want the upgrade for GW2.
it might just be that Anet has upgraded GW2’s graphics subtly. Further draw distance perhaps. Somthing that may not stick out like a sorethumb but will deffinatly have a dramatic impact on performance.
Then again, it may just be a kittenup. Ether way though, its not giving everyone a problem… which is odd.
My rig by no means has a monster GPU ..it may have a monster CPU ..but even so, a 560ti has its limitations ..of which im on. Max settings aside from super sampling at 1920×1080 and my gpu usage is almost always maxed out ..if its not maxed out its close ..at or above 80%. Giving me 45+fps most the time, 60fps frequently. Droping below that in only a few VERY heavy areas and situations.
WvWvW i havnt tried yet ..im not really interested in it till the cheating/hacks have been sorted out.
dacooli.6712
600 series card ..you have already been told this. GW2 has issues with the 600 series atm . atleats with alot of people ..not everyone ..but alot.
The Q720 is 1.6 turboing to 2.8. So asuming its activating turbo it should be running at 2.8ghz. Which is better but imo 3ghz is the minimum you want for a MMO.
It may well be for some reason that the latest patch has stoped your cpu from turboing to 2.8ghz for what ever reason. I would check this by installing some monitoring software. A simple CPUID porgram would tell you the core clock but you need ot be able to monitor it over time so tha when you tab out you can see what it ‘was’ runnign at whilst in game compared to what it is whilst tabed out.
Lotrfish.
AMD is currently not workign well with GW2 so thats most likely your problem.
UmbrellaWolf.
I cant explain why you suddenly droped fps if indeed you were getting high fps before hand. unless ofcourse you changed your game settings. However i do think your cpu is rather slow for a game like GW2. 1.6ghz is very slow.
Double check that u are in the same area where you got your high fps, have the same settings, have the same programs running in the background, have the same programs installed (whether running or not) , along with same graphics drivers. If any of those are different ..then that would be the place to start.

Just wait till Crysis 3 ..apparently after the shambles that was the crysis 2 port, they have promised a PC melting crysis 3 crosses fingers
Nothing elitist about it. Two people have 1k to spend. One buys a 1k laptop ..one buys a 1k desktop. Nether is elitist, they both spent the same money lol.
Its just you get more for your money with a desktop ..FACT.
And becouse of that, the average person who has a laptop generaly doesnt have one that is good enough for gaming. Therefor “a laptop for gaming is ‘genraly’ a bad choice” is a perfectly logical statment to make.
It doesnt mean you CANT get a laptop that can game fine, its just means that on average people dont have loads of money to spend on a laptop that can play games properly.
the Keeper sounds like a troll to me lol.
All this talk about what you can see in terms of fps is irrelivant since any perosn reading this can test it and find out themsellves what they personaly can perceive. Just instal lan old gamethat you know runs supper fast, then limit the fps to say 20 ..then 30 then 40 and so on. You then have your answere :P
Ofcourse if you VDU is limited to 60hz then you can only go up to 60 fps, but say you have an old crt you could potentialy go to 75 or 85hz and if you have new 120hz monitor you can go to 120 fps
Anyway simple answere for OP. Yes that new cpu will most definatly help. But do take on board what peopel have said baaut requiring other new components to go with the new cpu .. i.e motherboard etc.

Going form AMD to a good intel .. Yes you will see an improvment
as for simple OC’ing, i would just up the multiplyer till your stock vcore causes the OC to fail. Asuming it isnt on ‘auto’ vcore.. otherwise it will keep giving u more and more vcore. (and more than you need to, which will cause heat issues)
Tweeking voltages manualy requirs some knowledge ..you need to know the limits. The voltages are the thing that can cause damage to your cpu so be carefull with them. last thing you want to do is put the decimal in the wrong place and pop your cpu :P
As someone has said, Ivybridge procesor wont overclock as well or as easily as a Sandybridge. So dont expect massive OC’s without some hassle. Do make sure your cooling is up to the task.
My advice is to install it as normal, install some monitoring programs for temperature and vcore. I like Aida 64 personaly, but its not free..you have to buy it or ‘aquire’ it by other means :P
Then go back to bios and start tinkering. You cpu will automaticaly turbo up to 3.8 so OC’ing to 4ghz should not be a problem on stock vcore.

1) get to windows 7, Vista uses way to much resources. Its not a gaming OS
2) What i7 cpu do you have exactly ?
3)200 series gpu is a bit dated, but probably not the main issue.
As for the loss in performance, that is likely due to GW2 updates as other peopel have reported loss in performance after a certain update. However the end result is ‘usualy’ that they ether have a slow gpu or cpu, or are using a 600 series gpu that GW2 currently has issues with (for some).
Since your not using a 600 gpu it isnt that, and a 260 should be ok aslong as you dont go OTT on the settings, it could be becouse of your cpu , though since you didnt say which one it was i may be way of the mark here.
IB’s dont beat SB THAT much…core for core speed IB wins ..just.. but SB can overclock better. Granted this is a laptop, but you could still possibly get away with a small OC on the SB ..where as the IB i wouldnt touch.. they dont overclock well on desktops ..let alone trying on a laptop.
in the end as Virtual said, both are bad choices. Infact a laptop for gaming is gneraly a bad choice. However if you insist on a laptop you should look for one with a high ghz 4-core intel cpu and a good modern gpu like the 650 or above.
In all honesty i beleve your slow 1.6ghz cpu could be to blame. Granted you may think that this kind of thing is down to the GPU, but the CPU needs to work through the data first before the GPU works through textures that are then required.
I think when you hit heavy loads your CPU is bottlenecking.

Oh no lol ..Somone mentioned what the ‘human eye can see’ in terms of fps.
In lamens terms you could argue the human eye can see XX fps .but thats not how the eye works ..not really lol.
We CAN see a difference between 24 and 60 fps ..hell even 60 to 120 fps. it depends on the person also. But pritty much everyone can see a difference between 24 and 60.
So please dont go around saying otherwise when it can EASILY be tested by someone reading the comment. just plug an old game in that can run fast in your computer and limit the fps using a program like EVGA precision and check different fps’ limits to see the difference lol.
This has happend to me twice now.
The kitten chest is suposed to be the reward along with the achievment (which is usless). But its buged as open and looted even though i have not looted it.
1st time it happend was the ‘organ puzzle’ in Stronghold of Ebonhawk…which btw took forever and a day to work out..thank god i stumbled upon the graveyard hint.
2nd time, and this was the one that made me make this post… was the platforming puzzle in mount maelstrom.
Anet you REALLY need to sort out rewards ..whether it be ones that arnt given becouse of a bugs like this …or ones that are just worthless..like major event chests ..or the fact no reward exists, like high hp champion events, ie the giant in the town on nageling.
please FIX this !
Note: Im all for a challenge for the sake of a challenge, but these seem to have been designed with a reward in mind ..so how about giving one thats worth while..or infact just giving one :P
just set vsync ..unless your using a 120hz monitor you will be set to 60 fps.
Those with said monitor should activate vsync AND fps limiter to get rid of screen tearing. Since screen tearing can still be seen even when you under the screen refresh rate. I wont get into the technicalities as to why’ ,just know that it does :P
it depends on your eyesight whether you notice screen tearing when you dont use vsync but i for one cant stand screen tearing.
Lol nice analogy :P
indeed its true about the performance BUT all >MODERN< mmo’s i’ve played have the same issue when it comes to handling many many players on screen at the same time. So i highly doubt it will be ‘fixed’ as it isnt necceserily somthing that can be fixed. its just the Engine limitations.
two examples pop to mind:
Rift:
is atm the worst engine iv come across, even without loads of people on the screen it doesnt really give great performance. And when there is loads of people its even worse.
Tera:
Runs great really smooth.. untill you get 40 or 50+ people together then it gets into issues. Go to a rift event where there is usualy 100 odd people around and you get 5-15 fps no matter what rig you have. Luckily the only times you see this many people is in the rift events. No raids yet so ‘normal’ gameplay, even pvp is fine.
In the end what im saying is, it may be a ‘bandaid’ solution but its the only one we’re likely to be able to use.
Aye SSD will slightly lower loading times in GW2 and also help smooth out frame rates, it wont necceserily increase them unless you had an incredibly slow HDD beforehand slowing down texture load times.
On my rig (in sig) i had GW original on the Raid0 drives, when i moved it to my SSD i noticed a small decrease in loading times, but mainly an noticable decrease in FPS stutter.
One noticable issue i had was that icons on the main map when you first load it up used to appear about a second (maybe less than a second) after the map first pops up. Now though its instant.
A SSD will be better than a HDD. how much you notice it will depend on you as a person and also how much slower your standard HDD are. For me my 10k rpm drives in raid0 were already fast for HDD’s so the difference was smaller than you would see going from a single 7200rpm drive.

Thoughts ?
“shoulda gone to …intel” :P
But seriosly. Step away from AMD. intel is by far the better choice when it comes to price/performance ratio’s.
you would have to upgrade pritty much your entire computer. So a budget would help any recommendations.
Ignoring budget for the moment though i would say try get a i5 2500k + motherboard + Ram. Possibly a new powersuply would be needed. You also may need a new case if your current one cant fit a ATX board. Your current grpahics card can be carried along ot the new rig same goes for hard drives, cd roms etc.
@draylore.2837
Give your laptop intakes fans and heatsinks and nice clean.
You will be surpirsed at how only a small amount of dust and grime can cause a laptop to heat up.
To be honest it wouldnt matter what game or program caused the increased heat, the fact that it gets this hot shows an issue with cooling. I mean for OC’ers we purposly go out our way to find a program that will put the most strain on a part to try get it to get as hot as it would ever get… then we adjust our cooling accordinly.
Your laptop has now found a game/program that taxes it enough heat up the components, as it would/could wih any other taxing game/program. This is just the first time it happens to have done it hard and long enough to overwhlem your current cooling .. whether it be becouse of dust or not remains to be seen.
For anyone thinking of OC’ing a ‘new’ cpu, and are going to get an intel one.
Dont get an Ivybridge if your planing on going over 4.3ghz, they just cant do it without ‘extreme’ cooling.
Instead get a SB-E, they are more expensive but are by far the better overclockers.
Where 85c at 100% usage is the limit:
IB = 4 to 4.3ghz air cooled depending on the chip lottery
SB-E= 4.4 to 4.7ghz air cooled depending on the chip lottery
Note that when you go water cooling SB-E can go up to 5ghz, but IB even with water cooling strugles to go past 4.5ghz.
GW is optimized well imo. That is until the game engine reaches its current limits. and that happens in WvWvW.
Even top end computers see noticable slowdown in WvWvW and in 99% of cases those computers will see the CPU and GPU usuage drop even though the load is technicaly more.
Why? ..becouse the game engine has been bogged down and cant dish out the information fast enough.
However in most casses the fps you do get is ‘playable’.
Game engine and/or software issues between GW2 and drivers.
Other mmo’s have this issues aswell. When the game engine, that runs fine most the time, comes across somthing that it just cant sort through efficiently enough.. like LOADS of players in the same area, then it slows down making your computer have to wait for the information.
You cpu is whats causing the massive fps drop. Even people with 3.5ghz+ are seing performance issues im WvWvW.
Its becouse the game engine is not efficient enough to handle such massive loads of players. The only way to get around it is to have some monster computer i.e 5ghz SB-E cpu, 3 or 4 way 600 series sli to get around the inefficencies of the game engine. Even then you might find that the engine itself is the bottleneck and no amount of hardware will help.
that said, people are able to get ‘playable’ fps, and i sugest you try get yourself a i5 cpu 3ghz minimum to have favorable fps.

Read peoples posts before asking a question. I for one also answered your question before you asked it, as i posted my results.
Remember to take even you own results with a pinch of salt as there will always be very slight variations in whats actually being rendered on your screen when you have npc’s moving around you…and players
Try setting up a custom fan speed curve for your GPU (if its gpu) and you can do the same with your CPU.
I personaly use EVGA Precision for a custom GPU fan curve. My 560ti SOC never goes above 75c even after constant 99% load usuage ..and if for any reason it reaches 80c i’ve got my fans set to go full pelt 100% if it does. otherwise it runs from 40% to 70% fan speed depending on the temperature.
Befor this if left on its stock settings the temperature would reach into the 80’s and the fan would go up 1% per 1 degree of temperature from 40% speed after reaching 70c. .meaning it would only run at 70% speed at 100c temperature ..which is crazy.
As for CPU im using my motherboards OS UI interface ‘Asus Ai Suit II’ and have a custom Fan speed curve setup there aswell. But my cpu barely breaks a swett tbh <18% usage.
