Except the Chrono traitline throws to many illusions at you, that you don’t know what to do with them, anyway. There is no real illusion “management” even if people like to believe that.
You are already militating to put both iReversion and chronophantasma on GM trait, and that would end the capacity to create so many illusions. Asking for both is a bit much.
I feel a simple way to make wells a bit better would be to add the possibility to end them prematurely by reactivating the skill. It would instantly activate the final effect. Some wells would have to be tweaked (Well of Calamity could deal more final damage the more it stays active for example).
The class as a whole feels great, I like the theme of time manipulation, and the skills and mechanics fit the theme really well.
Wells are a bit underwhelming. I think we should be able to recast them to end them prematurely and get the end buff/effect when we want, at the cost of the pulsating effect.
I’m wondering if we will see the same armor theme from the canceled GW 1expansion Utopia. I’ve always wanted to see them added to the game, and it would be a great addition to the wardrobe.
I’m just talking about the general theme of it, I don’t want to see the exact same armors ofc. There are plenty of chronomancer arts on the net based on utopia.
Mesmers are also in a different place than other classes traitwise, in that it’s actually pretty tough to limit yourself trait-wise for any given build. When I put my condi engi together, all my condition traits were in one line. Traits are pretty well segregated by type in most classes I’ve played, in fact.
On this topic, I actually think ArenaNet should work towards this kind of trait balance with the other professions. It’s really cool that Mesmers have enough good traits that it’s a legitimately difficult choice which ones to take. That should be true of every profession.
That’s exactly what I think. I’m pleased to have to make choices. At least, I think this is how balance should be achieved: Not by nerfing numbers or adding cooldowns, but by forcing people to chose between good traits without letting them to be able to have everything. That’s how you can promote build diversity. Of course, it’s not always possible.
You still want to remove the core mechanism of the specialization, the only new thing we get from it, like every other profession does.
beside, you can’t specialize to have good alacrity uptime, lots of illusions and slow. You have to make a choice. And you have to abandon something useful to be a chronomancer already.
How about this trade.
Give mesmers main hand pistol and the off hand shield.
Then you can remove the F5
You would have to replace one F ability with continuum + replace other F abilities with something else to get on part with other professions then
You have to consider the specialization as a whole: As I already said, guardians didn’t get a new f skill, but they got a new 2 handed weapons with 5 new skills in a domain they were weak: Ranged. mesmer on the other hand got a off hand with 2 skills, and they already got enough off hands compared to main hands. They don’t get as much as guardians get with the new weapon from the new specialization. So, in compensation mesmer get a new f5 skills.
If you want to remove (god no) or replace the skill, you have to give something more to the mesmer.
The number of weaponskills is still an argument, Devs said that themselves. The fact that they are stronger or equivalent to other weapons is irrelevant. The fact that you are not satisfied with the new specializations from other professions should not be a reason to cripple a profession you don’t like. You should ask for a change to DH and Reaper instead. I’d be glad to see improvement to them.
It would give a lot less to the mesmer than to the others professions, it’s not really a good idea. Or the others shatter skills should also provide something more or different, like super speed, slow…

Chronomancer got an offhand, so less new skills, that’s probably one of the reason we got a new skill elsewhere. Otherwise mesmers could argue 3 of the skills from guardian longbow should only replace an existing skills they have.
I think the mechanics given by the specialisation fit the chronomancer theme really well. Speaking of wells, i think we should be able to recast them to end them prematurely, giving the end effect at the cost of the pulsing effect, it would add a bit more flexibility and it should make “All’s well that end well” a bite more useful without making it op
About wells: As someone already suggested, the possibility to end wells prematurely by activating the skill again would be great: You could chose to get the buff instead of the debuff at the expanse of the pulse effect, and it would make “all’s well that ends well” more useful.

I’m not a really good pvp player, and i have decided to get a bit better at it. First thing I though was “Well, I can’t remember why I have so much trouble not lurking at my skills bar all the time, if I don’t look at my screen how could I learn and be better at dodging, or in fact, at doing anything useful ?”
So i tried to play without looking to much at my skill bar and then I remembered: most of the time, I press a key, but the skill doesn’t activate. That’s why I couldn’t play without doing it. I’m on the floor, I want to stun break ? fine, go. Well, I didn’t move, strange. oh, my skill is still there… I want to heal ! uh, my heal didn’t do anything ? Oh wait, I still have it… But I pressed the key, I’m sure of it !
It happens in every fight. I’m sure I’m doing it wrong, so how could I do ? Something about the skills sequence/queue ? Too many keys pressed at once ? (even sometimes I’m sure it happens when I don’t panic, and sometimes I can clearly see the “wave” commencing before the skill should activate, then nothing.

The design of the chronomancer is what I was expecting, and the game mechanics the class brings fit it really well. I’m happy to see that phantasms builds could be a bit more popular because of chronophantasma and alacrity; it’s really how I wanted to play my mesmer in pve.
I sincerely hope we will not see too much nerf, or at least not nerfs that would ruin alacrity altogether (By making it just like what other class could reach without it).

I don’t really understand how quickness stomp works. When I have quickness it seems it’s only a quicker animation, but I still have to wait the normal time for it to work. But when I’m stomped by someone who got quickness, I’m finished as soon as his quicker animation ends

I’m still not sure that the xpac worth its price, but there is nothing wrong about that, nothing force us to pre-purchase it.

I’m finally thinking about making ascended armors and weapon for my engineer, and as the price is quite high I’d like to get some advices first.
I’d like to use a 6/0/0/4/4 rifle and grenades build. In pvp I use celestial stats, but I heard it’s never optimal to do so in WvW.
I was thinking about a mix of dire/rabid and maybe vitality/toughness/precision/condition damage stats for my trinkets.
Maybe a giver weapon, but I’m not sure it’s a good idea.
I’d like to use perplexity runes, maybe hoelbrak.
What do you think ?

I find it a bit odd that it has only a 5 minutes duration for a 30 minutes “recharge rate”, it kind of mitigates the fact that you can use it in combat. Any possibilities to see a change about that ?
Plus, the model is really small. If you compare it with other people and npcs, you’ll see that you are really smaller than them.
I suppose these are not bugs, but it would be nice to see a change !
Just here to say it’s not a guaranteed rare per event atm. I just did Tequatl and got greens. Same with Jormag, it happens.

Well, it’s even harder for me to make gold now. I’m still mostly getting white items, but now i get less of them…
These changes will not make any differences for me I guess… The problem is not that I don’t tag and don’t get anything, the problem is that I get white trash most of the time,and maybe 3 greens per hour in Orr :/
What’s the average drop rate of the new chests ? because I haven’t drop one yet
My only blues are mats when I’m doing penitent/shelter now. Rest are porous bones and metal scraps. I got 1 green in 1h, but I suppose it’s just my imagination.
I’m still experiencing an average of 2 rares per hour of chasing events in Cursed Shore. It’s kinda amazing – plus several Piles of Putrid Essence which are technically rares…

When I started the game and was farming Orr, loots were nice: I was seeing yellow very often, green were very common and I had a large quantity of blue. It lasts for weeks/months. Then, one day, I didn’t drop yellows anymore. it was rare for me to see a green. Then I started fractals. Drops were nice, I was seeing yellow often and green were very common… It lasts until fractal 9-10. Then one day, I didn’t drop yellow anymore and it was rare to see a green. Then I started CoE, I was seeing yellow often and… Same story again. But when I came back in Orr, it was still full of porous bones and 2-3 blue…
Can I use a cultural armor pve skin on a pvp set now ? If it’s the case, how ? Thanks !

Since the beginning, Anet is nerfing professions and builds instead of bringing the rest up to the same level. And since the beginning, I feel each profession loses what makes it different from the others. There are less and less viable builds, people switch to the next good class/build, and when this other class/build is nerfed, nobody uses the 2 previous nerfed ones. And I fear professions will look more and more the same. Of course professions will be balanced, but at the cost of diversity and fun. And D/D is by far the most fun build I’ve played on GW2. Lots of skills to use, good synergies between traits and skills, and the need to know each one to use it effectively.
Nerfing is not the way to go. They need to make all builds/classes as fun and effective as D/D. But I suppose it’s easier to nerf this build instead. I’m really disappointed. I really feel each part of fun is ripped of of this game.
The real downed mesmer has a big red arrow on the top of his head, you can’t miss it

Most of the time, 2-5 seconds after I start a fight, I’ve lost half of my health, I see red number everywhere and I’m under the effect of a lots of conditions. I’ve tried to kill guardians who were laughing at me, because I wasn’t doing much damage, but they seemed to hit me really hard. I understand it’s a problem of skills, and I’d like to have some advice, even basics, to improve myself.

Since the update, which fixed a way to kill him faster, my experiences against him are horrible : We were only 4 left (you know, disconnected for no reason and not able to come back with us). First time he droped his hammer, no enemies appeared. We had to commit suicide. Second time, after my fifth time in a cage, i was not able to break it anymore. My entire party wiped but me. i wasn’t able to go out of the cage, and I wasn’t able to commit suicide. Luckily a trash mob was nearby and I was able to hit him to aggro him, and let him kill me.
And make an international ladder. As Anet stated they don’t want to prevent players to play anywhere and anytime they want, and as a lot of players from one timezone come to other timezones, there is no point having 2 separate ladders. An international ladder would let the servers with a greater timezone coverage play with each other.

Please, stop these 2 vs 1 allusions. The alliance didn’t last one day. As it’s a 1 vs 1 vs 1, you will always have the impression you’re attacked by the 2 others as if they work together, because when one side is weak, you attack it. We had the impression AS were focusing us all week too. Plus, you are second, so you are just in the middle, which is the worst place, because the firsts don’t want you to take their place, and thirds want to take yours.
I think Desolation didn’t think it would be a challenge, and is disappointed. You are good, but we are not bad either you know.
It happens quite often against him. First time I tried, I was killed, and all his attacks was still there when i came back. Don’t know if it’s intended, but it was nearly impossible to kill him with his illusions + his bubbles crippling things + him at the center at the same time.
This is clearly a minor issue, but it’s kind of ugly: All shield clip through the orr exotic medium armor. Is there anything that can be done without changing the armor ?
