The Future of WvW

I agree with you OP that WvW is in some sorry shape as it currently stands. This was one of the key selling points of this game for me and if I’m honest I’m sorry I wasted the money after seeing how poorly implemented WvW is. The other more distressing issue with WvW is how poorly Anet is supporting it after launch. Does it have a future? Not really, because by the time Anet gets around to fixing the glaring issues with it and possibly opening up some dialogue with their WvW players, most of them will have moved on.

On Botting and What We’re Doing About It

This is the biggest load of dung I’ve read on these forums. How about being proactive instead of sitting on your kitten doing nothing? There’s currently about 8 ranger bots sitting at Penitent Waypoint on Eredon Terrace and they’ve been reported for days. Still sitting there, nothing done. Would it be too difficult to log into the game and see what they’re doing? Nah, kitten it we’ll come to the forums and bullkitten people about what we’re doing. /rolleyes

The best part about Charr feet is how they twitch when you do the /sleep emote.

Meh, after watching how things have developed since launch I would say I am much less hopeful than I was when the game dropped. The fact is the post launch development thus far has been laughable and I’ve been around the block enough to know that Anet is just talking kitten to keep people interested. Here are some things that really need to change fairly quickly.

1. Development and proper use of a test server to limit the amount of broken crap they introduce with patches. It seems right now they are breaking more than they fix and the stuff they are ‘fixing’ is still broken. Test it, get it right, then push to live.

2. Overhaul WvWvW. Absolutely get rid of the PvE aspects in WvW. It’s the only way you can possibly limit the out of control botting problem in WvW and the terrible effect it has on this aspect of the game.

3. Significantly change the amount of gold rewarded to players for task so that buying gold is irrelevant, and thus fix the botters/gold sellers. Other than Eve Online, the only game I’ve played in a long time that got this right was Rift. If Anet are too kittening greedy to fix the problem than just come out and say it. Stop wasting our kittening time.

4. Fix the blatantly broken skills/talents/etc. within every class. Some of the broken things that each class is dealing with right now should never have made it out of beta.

Reward for finishing story (disappoint compared to GW1)

The reward system in this game is fairly poor overall anyway, so this doesn’t really shock me all that much. Sadly I’d say this is one of the weakest aspects of the game. Nothing like opening up that Black Lion Chest to loot a few copper and some kitteny transformation potions. Anyway, I’m glad you told me this because I really hate the story quests in this game and how they’re implemented so I may just skip finishing them.

Dodge Roll Bugged

I have been noticing today that while in combat my dodge roll appears to be bugging out. Instead of rolling away or through a mob my character appears to get stuck and then rolls in place, moving nowhere. I have not been having this problem while rolling outside of combat at all, but only while in combat with an npc.

Nerf soon or not? Need to know for creating Thief

WvW isn’t the venue to judge the 1v1 abilities of classes, cuz there’s no control to player power/gear there.

A thief very quickly downed my son’s thief today in WvW. But together with my guardian we killed the thief. BUT it’s important to note, my son’s thief is still in his 30s. So of course he’s fragile.

In sPvP, thief does ok, but isn’t OP. The Mesmer is strongest 1v1 but I think that’s the way it’s supposed to be.

Part of why a thief is a lil OP when they control the fight is that it’s hard for them to control the fight, especially in WvW, and rather weak range in a range-centric setting.

You bring up some excellent points which will most likely be totally ignored by those who want to whine about the thief class.

Guild Wars 2: It's alive!

I think talk of games being dead a month after launch is an indication of our culture developing a very short attention span and the rise of instant gratification.

If an MMO isn’t “perfect” at launch then the game is doomed and everyone jumps ship immediately in a self-fulfilling prophesy. Really?

It’s like no one wants to invest a little time into anything anymore.

SWTOR is a good game, but it wasn’t perfect so people jumped ship to GW2. This isn’t perfect so people are anxious to jump ship to the next shiny thing. Granted SWTOR had the SWG fans vs the KOTOR fans clashing and no one was going to be happy.

Come on people, learn some patience already.

No offense, but SW:TOR was not a good MMO and a large portion of that game’s community left as a result. I don’t disagree with you that folks need to learn some patience with a game as it launches and works to iron out kinks, but some games are crap from the ground up and no amount of work is going to fix that, and SWTOR is in that category.

Underwater Combat: The issues I have with it

I agree with the OP on several points. First, the invulnerability issue needs to be fixed, and I’m sure it will be at some point. That said, I have found that my enjoyment of the underwater combat is slightly less due to the lack of choices we get for weapon skill sets/utility skills. I’m sure trade offs needed to be made here but I’m hoping they will be able to add in more weapon types and utility skills for this portion of the combat in the future, as I think it would help me enjoy it a great deal more.

The broken skill quests are really getting bad

Yeah this has actually gotten worse since their last patch to “fix” these. Add in the crazykitten number of broken DE’s going on and the questing in the game is starting to become a real mess. While I’m happy they finally got the Trading Post running fairly well it seems like most of their resources went towards fixing that and doing minor class adjustments. They need to fix the things that are flat out broken in the game, including SP’s, DE’s, and the skills in game that are currently not functioning. I’d be willing to give some of these things a pass if this game hadn’t spent so much time in beta. But given the time spent in beta there’s really no excuse for skills and talents being completely broken and not functioning at all.

Change All Skill Point Challenges

Please consider changing these to all Commune challenges and remove the combat challenges completely. Currently there are so many bugged combat skill challenges that it is frustrating to not be able to complete multiple maps or world completion because of this. It’s also possible to bug these out on purpose because if you spawn the event and then leave the NPC does not despawn, often times bugging the challenge. Until you can fix these it would be a huge plus to the community to be able to finish the maps without waiting for you to “fix” skill points that stated you did fix but in fact did not.
