If memory serves me this skill has worked this way since beta. The game forces you to run the max distance without recognizing that you are in striking distance of the rush target, thereby chopping the running animation and initiating the attack portion of the skill. It’s hilarious to watch my warrior keep running in place when I’m right in the face of the enemy and then attack. Would be awesome if they could fix this.
I am not sure if this has already been reported but I would like to add to the OP’s statement that this has been happening since the culling fix and rather frequently. Oddly I have yet to have this take place out in the open world. It seems to happen only in WvW and I’m hopeful that Anet will acknowledge the issue and work on a fix.
The graphics lag hasn’t been an issue for me since the change, the server lag is a whole different issue. I haven’t done WvW for a while but right now it reminds me of the dragon events where the server can’t handle the load, and none of your skills will fire off. Nice to see the zerg but too bad the game can’t handle the load.
I’ve actually been toying with a similar build but unfortunately I’m stuck with just a few pieces of condition damage gear and I’m not able to make a full transition to it at this point.
The biggest issue I’m having is skill lag which is just terrible in bigger fights. I’m not finding that turning down the character limit or the quality makes any difference because I suspect that the server infrastructure can’t handle the load. I’m not a developer so I don’t know for sure but it’s really the same issue this game has during busy world events.
Are you really that surprised? They added new skins and you can have a chance at them if only you’ll buy gems and then pray to the gods you have good RNG. Thankfully the new skins look like kitten anyway.
Sadly they might just nerf hundred blade PvE damage, but if they do so, I hope they make it so you can move while using it. which I think would be the way to go, I’m not talking about a huge nerf, just a litttle nerf to help closing the gap.
Axe Wars will still out dps anything else out there.
Very true, and then the whining will start about axe warriors. Why do these threads always come off as nothing more than veiled whining that someone wants their class buffed? Seriously, there are plenty of non warrior/zerk groups available on LFG. Don’t be mad at other players for not wanting your class in their run, there are plenty of others who do.
Yeah they are down, not sure if everyone is affected. I couldn’t get the horrible TP to work so decided to log in another character and got D/C’d from the game. Now I’m unable to login at all.
I read your post and honestly I think most of this is pretty much common sense to any MMO player with half a brain and a bit of MMO experience. Unfortunately where your argument fails for me is bringing this to the forums. Expecting others to do things your way, no matter how reasonable, in a PuG group is asking for disappointment. I’ve got enough MMO experience to know that, and so do you I imagine. Now I don’t presume to know your guild situation, but really the problem here is you for not knowing how to recruit, train, and keep quality guild members. I know that sounds harsh, but it’s the truth. Setting expectations with potential guild members, teaching them proper dungeon running techniques, and then building a solid relationship with them isn’t hard at all….it’s time consuming. If you’re not willing to put forth that effort, don’t come griping to the community about bad behavior in PuG groups.
Imo the ‘grind’ that’s been put into the game is pretty simple. They have to do something to keep content locusts busy while they develop more meaningful content like new stories, new zones, new instances, etc. etc. These all take a great deal more time to complete than what’s in the game right now. That’s also why the DR and kittenty drops for legendary mats. It keeps the locusts at bay. This isn’t the first game to do the exact same type of thing. If they don’t do this then people are on the forums whining because there’s not enough to do blah blah. For right now people have something to work towards long term. What’s the problem with that?
Hello everyone. I am here to talk about dungeon difficulty. I contacted support about how overpowering it is for players from regular dungeon level, to level 80. To some people who play this game, they think these dungeons are too overpowering, even with level 80 friends helping you all the way. Also, dungeons can really affect your character’s currency. Do you know how expensive it is to fix armor in a dungeon? VERY expensive, accounting from getting your butt kicked several times from the overpowered dungeon enemies. I tried beating a dungeon with level 80 friends, and we got our butts handed to us. -Sigh- I want people to post their opinions on the dungeon difficulty on this topic. Don’t be afraid to give your opinion about the dungeon difficulty in the game. So, who thinks the dungeons are overpowering or just fine?
So far my experience has been that the dungeons are not crazy difficult so long as folks take a little initiative and look over some of the very helpful guides that are posted right here on our forums. I find a lot that folks want to run dungeons long before they really know how their class works or the dungeon works and this always = many wipes.
The problem lies simply from Grast continuing to charge an irrelevant attack and getting knocked down before the bubble goes up. That’s bad design because the NPC does no damage to the boss of any consequence, so having him continue to channel the attack makes no sense. Thankfully the groups I run with figured out how to do this without the kitten
I started this game playing WvW every day. I’m now exclusively a PvE player. Simply put, WvW in this game is just terrible. Roaming is fun from time to time but eventually it boils down to who is running the bigger zerg. The rewards suck balls and they couldn’t be bothered to put some originality into the map designs. I also loathe the fact that they included jumping puzzles and pve crap in a primarily pvp environment. I also do not like the fact that they don’t balance skills for WvW the way they do spvp. All in all I played WvW enough to know that it’s going to take some major improvements in design and concept for me to want to go back to it. It just isn’t fun or rewarding.
I agree that guesting is out of control and is really not that great of a feature. Sadly it’s a good idea with very poor long term thought put into the implementation. The first question that Anet needs to ask itself is, what is the point of guesting? Is it so friends can play together on the same server? If that’s the case then it should be temporary and then require someone to transfer to their friend’s server. It shouldn’t be something we can do any time all the time. That’s bad design imho. A couple of other things that Anet should probably do to fix this problem.
1. Require someone who is guesting to a server to have an invite to the server from someone they know. (Already mentioned)
2. Limit the amount of times you can guest to a server to 2 or 3 tops. By this time you’ll know if that server is ‘right for you’.
3. Disable a person’s ability to use /map chat while guesting. There’s no reason generally for these folks to need map chat.
4. Disable the ability to receive loot from chest in DE boss events. (already mentioned)
I for one would like to see Anet just shut the feature off until they decide why the implemented it in the first place. There’s nothing wrong with letting someone try out another server to see if it’s a fit but it should be a short term and limited ability which then requires them to suck it up and transfer.
All new stuff in dungeons is going to be hard for the first few days. We see it all the time with new content – people fail and get knocked down when they aren’t used to that sort of thing, and they claim it is too difficult.
Give it a week or so for everyone to develop strategies, learn encounters, and build fundamentals, and they will claim it is too easy. Trust me when I say this, the numbers are punishing (but less than they were before), but knowing the mechanics will greatly mitigate the danger. This is what they do instead of properly testing their content.
Did you test it on 100lvl characters?
nope they was busy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1ZCMWM_qUE
I’ve yet to finish path 2 without the final encounter bugging out. Really fun changes.
I saw this mentioned earlier and I’m not sure if this is a bug or what but my group also had all 3 traps sit at full charge before we could down the boss. I know someone posted that he sometimes breaks the traps but I’m not sure if the break is permanent or if it eventually resets. In the end all 3 traps sat full no matter how long we waited and kited him around.
Edit: As a side note the encounter also didn’t reset after a wipe. The traps that were stuck full remained so even after we wiped. I’m not sure if this was intentional either.

Finding a group for the new dungeon Fractals of the Mist is so annoying and just…. i dunno…
1) people are ’’lfg’’ for the same level, yet they dont actually ask or invite anyone.
2) the worst part, people care SO MUCH about your level ‘’are you 80? no? well ok, bye then’’
i mean, you get SCALED up… (the character i wanted to do it with, was 65, and yet people werent ok with me being scaled up 15 levels)…3) So once i got a group, at some point, we seemed to be dying a lot, so i unequipped my clothes, and when i explained that i dont wanna spend that much money on that overpriced repair system, they kicked me from the party and i had to do it all over again..
4) People arent having fun in this game…at all…. just lots of rudeness and caring about getting loot.. I mean…all i want to do is to enjoy playing this game -.-
there might be something else, but i cant remember atm.
A couple of things I would say in response to what you posted.
1. Not sure what to say on this really. If I’m looking for people and they say they’re on the same level that I am, I send em an invite. The higher I’ve gotten the harder it gets to find ppl.
2. Most folks are savvy to understand how the scaling up process works but there is something you’re not thinking about. It’s not about your gear scaling up etc., it’s that you are missing trait points to finish or flesh out your build. That may not seem like a big deal but it really is, at least imo. The other issue is how you’ve spent your skill points and what skills you’ve purchased. I’m finding the more I’m in these fractals the more I need various skills depending on the situation and if you’re missing some that you may need, you’re stressing your team.
3. Lol, you should’ve gotten kicked.
I have an idea why they changed:
Absolutely perfect post, I smiled. =)
My cut off for player levels in this dungeon is nothing less than level 65. By that time hopefully the person has all of their good skills purchased with at least 1 elite and a decently fleshed out build. The upleveling that happens does nothing for missing skills and no build points, which do make a difference in how effective and helpful you are to the group. If that makes me a kitten then so be it.
I’ve said this before and I’ll agree with it again. The game really needs a PTR because the testing of new content has been very lackluster so far.
Starhawk.2958I’ll give the game 3 more months before Mike O’Brien is fired and then posts that he’s leaving the company to ‘pursue other projects’, i.e. I got kitten canned but was given the option to resign. This seems to be the trend in the industry now when games are developed like this one is.
QFT So true it would not surprise me at all, although it seems premature to jump to such conclusions it’s definatly textbook by now.
Agreed, I’m jumping to huge conclusions and won’t be shocked if I’m wrong all together. Unfortunately there’s a pattern that’s started to develop in this industry both in the way games are developed and managed and the subsequent fallout from said pattern.

I’m still checking these forums to see if Anet would issue a statement about all of this, but somehow I don’t think that’s what we’ll get.
It’ll get ignored or the thread will be closed with the obligatory stupid comment from a mod that the feedback has been passed along. Anet will make no meaningful statement and the train will roll on. That said, I agree with the OP and will

They never said the loot was going to be worth anything :p
Maybe not specifically but patch notes say otherwise.
The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased. Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot. This was to ensure that world loot drops were not a significantly worse way of acquiring rare and exotic items than crafting and running dungeons.
Still doesn’t shock me that they still drop nothing or garbage. I didn’t believe Anet when they said it the first time. After killing more veterans than I could count out there this afternoon I gave up, got some shells and some greens and that was it.
Hmm, not really surprising. Maybe you can put those bones in the mystic forge and get a precursor out of it. lmao
Starting yesterday I’ve probably spent 10+ hours doing these, and finally got my first essence today. Word is better drops the higher you go, but honestly I don’t buy that. Add in the fact you need 250 of the tier 6 crafting mats for an item and I’m seriously not going to waste my time.
How do you know that’s the only way to get Ascended back items? I’m pretty sure there will be a dungeon-only way of getting them, considering how hard it gets at higher levels. If I were to guess, you can probably dump some vials/globs + gift + exotic token item for one.
I don’t know that’s the ‘only’ way to acquire the item but I also know that the recipe is posted on the wiki for several new pieces and I know what those recipes require. They may also drop from the higher tiers of FoM but I haven’t run across anyone that can confirm this, so for now it appears based on what’s been confirmed that some of the items that are new require a kitten ton of materials in the same fashion that Legendary items do, and are not worth the effort. (to me)
Here’s a link for those who are curious what the mats are: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Vial_of_Condensed_Mists_Essence

This is the Mass Effect 3 ending controversy all over again.
A company making big promises and then breaking them in the worst possible way. A kittentorm in the forums where people feel lied to and ignored from the very defs that made and broke these promises. Just like Bioware kittened up their strongest franchise, Arenanet is about to screw the most promising and revolutionary MMO of the last 7/8 years.
Why?
Money, it’s always about money. They can lie their rears off all they want, but in the end someone is getting a boot on their neck to increase the game’s population (more box sales) or create a system where buying gems increases. Now that they’ve started down this road (starting with the way they handled the BLC at Halloween), it won’t stop. Greed is good, and Anet/NCSoft are greedy.
Between NCSoft’s stock, their decisions to close down one of their games abruptly, and the sudden change in ArenaNet’s design philosophy, I think something very, very bad is happening internally.
Do we have another Funcom on our hands?
I’ll give the game 3 more months before Mike O’Brien is fired and then posts that he’s leaving the company to ‘pursue other projects’, i.e. I got kitten canned but was given the option to resign. This seems to be the trend in the industry now when games are developed like this one is.
As some other kitten is most surely to post in here, enjoy the ride because it’s not about getting to level cap. /rolleyes
On a serious note, get on a server that doesn’t suck at WvW and follow the zerg around capping keeps and towers. If you’re in on the capture you’ll get some hefty xp rewards. If you get bored of that, just run around doing quests until you can’t stand it, rinse and repeat.
All this reminds me of the Jita Riots 2011 in EVE.
In short, CCP was about to introduce a Nex Cash Shop and it sickered through that there were plans to make ships and weapons with different stats than player produced ones available there. The kitten storm was unbelievable, players kept unsubbing and others shooting a statue in a major trade hub for almost 5 days 24 hours a day.
I unsubbed too. A month later I got an E-Mail with an apology from the CEO and that they will change the direction they were taking the game to, listening more to the players wishes.
I resubbed and everything works fine now, they mostly really focus on stuff the players like to have.
o/ I’m always glad to see another EVE survivor. I think the comparison to monoclegate is more apt then it even looks on the surface- CCP aimed for a market they didn’t have any hold in (first/third person gamers, social-network type gamers) and overreached their financial capacity by neglecting their core base.
Anet is doing the exact same thing- and the way out will be exactly the same. Downsizing to reduce overhead (I’m sorry great artists and programmers, but this doesn’t look good), and re-gearing to support the market they DO have. Hopefully, and apology or at least an explanation will come before those of us who are leaving get tired and stop checking for one- otherwise, the customer hemorrhaging won’t stop.
Based on what I’ve observed from Anet I don’t see that apology coming any time soon, if ever. CCP is fundamentally a better company than Anet and have proven it time and again over the years. Yes, they may do things that their player base doesn’t always like, but they actually do interface and have meaningful dialogue with their customers and implement a good portion of things their players ask for. They don’t come out with the Dev speak horse kitten these developers have been spewing since prior to launch. This game is following right down the line the same way SWTOR did and their developers are acting in the same fashion. Next up for Anet, pay to win services to keep their NCSoft overlords happy.
The drop rates are better when you’re not playing at the first tier (1-10)
Cool, so it only takes an estimated 7.5 hours of fractals to get out of the kitten drop rate? AWESOME!
Lol, there aren’t even people in the new area anymore.
I hope for their sake everyone is doing fractals….
The new area is boring and pointless. I LOL’d at the person who said there’s ‘tons of new stuff to do in the new area!" No, it’s the same old kitten in a different zone really. Boring DE’s and running back and forth to do the same events to grind out karma in the most efficient manner. It’s a grind, just like Orr, and the mobs there have just as many annoying mechanics as the Orr mobs do. Seriously, I went to that zone 1 time to look around and do the jumping puzzle. I don’t expect I’ll ever go back unless it’s to find an Ori node.
You’re not missing anything by sitting it out.
I think they’ll get away with it longer and more profitably than Mythic did (unfortunately) because they lack new competition with the polish and engine improvements that WoW had.
But in the end, yes, I think they will lose the business of those who were supposed to be the target audience in the first place and then they will lose their new targets when they perceive that GW2 isn’t as popular as whatever the next big release will be and/or when they get tired of going back and forth to the cash shop for gold to craft the latest greatest gear.
Time will tell but I think the PvE in this game is not really as good as most other games (I haven’t seen the new dungeon nor do I intend to) so if it’s vertical progression in PvE content you are after, there are many, many better alternatives to GW2.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Add in the sleazy way in which they are using the Mystic Forge like a loot slot machine and this game fails utterly in the PvE department. If they don’t improve the WvW system with a patch like this one that makes some significant improvements I’m not sure what incentive there is to even play.
Guys, if your expectations are that high, start paying $30 a month, or else please appreciate what ANet has done and stop complaining that much. They obviously don’t have to bring out new contents in such a short time.
Really? So anything is good enough because you didn’t have to pay for it? What a stupid mentality. Seriously, if you don’t want quality from the company that’s your business but do everyone a favor and keep that low standard to yourself.
I agree.
I have been choo-ing along with this game non-stop since beta… but I am fast feeling the anguish others are feeling.
Someone at arenanet still hasn’t realised: No it is not fun to stand there auto-attacking a mob for 20 minutes, all whilst getting no reward (gear treadmill is also a turn-off).
Gameplay is getting boring. WvW has received zero attention. Bugs that should’ve been fixed months ago are being ignored. s/tPvP has had no major developments since launch.
We need a new experience. Not the same old crap with different skins. We need new mechanics.
e.g. Dueling, Capture the Flag… the Halloween mini-games were actually pretty fun.
WvW needs new stuff too. New maps, new capping mechanics, new goals to direct gameplay. The ladder also needs to be rebalanced and free transfers closed to prevent 1 mega server arising amongst 0 competition (and this is why WvW is dead for almost every bracket now).
Time to move on to a new game perhaps.
You said a great deal about how I’m feeling about the game now. The dungeon is pretty cool, and that’s it. I would’ve gladly traded that for some serious improvements in WvW, and some actual new skins. I laughed my kitten off today after looting a new Exotic pair of pants only to realize it’s a reskin of the ones I already wear from the Karma vendor. Absolute kittening fail. I’m also not, under any circumstances, going to use the kittening Mystic Toilet in the hopes I can flush a few kitten down that thing and receive a golden egg as a result. Get real Anet, reward your players for the time they spend playing the game instead of having to slog through buggy content hoping the loot slot machine doesn’t kitten them in the kitten Whatever, this game’s post launch development has been as kittenW:TORs and I really didn’t think that kitten was possible.
I’ve gotten some shells for crafting but otherwise I felt the zone was pretty pointless as well. Got 2 shot doing an event by underground worms that never popped up for more than a second to damage and said kitten this place. Seriously, I’d rather slog it out with the Risen than this place. There’s no point and very little ‘fun’ to be had out there for me.
There’s quite a few mats that don’t go into the collection ‘packs’ – destroyer fragments/slivers, several gold (rare) mats.
True, but most of those are drops from mobs, not harvested from nodes. I guess that’s my point, all the other harvested items go in there, and some of the mob drops (totems, blood, etc.) also go in. Doesn’t make sense for the Passion Fruit as a harvested item not to go in. I’m just hoping they add it if they didn’t think about it beforehand.
P.S. This isn’t a HUGE deal, just some feedback for them maybe to mess with later on, and also think about if they add future crafting mats with xpacs etc.
I was just wondering if this is intended or an oversight as it seems there’s plenty of other items to fill up the bank tab, and since it’s a cooking item I would hope you will add this to the collections tab so it doesn’t clutter inventory space.
This is intended? I kept wondering why I couldn’t rez once I was downed. I hope this is a bug because if it isn’t this is the dumbest kitten they’ve ever done.
I don’t know if anyone else can see him at the Consortium Gift Shop but atm he is no longer standing there. He poofed.
Nevermind, I found him then got kicked off the game and rolled back and now he has disappeared. Thx Anet
The next step in this event tells me to talk to this idiot at Fort Marriner but there is nobody with that name anywhere in the place.
Agreed, this was a poorly thought out idea and pretty bad implementation.
The opening event is terrible, I think they got the message. Hopefully the new area isn’t this much of a cluster kitten.
is C&D really do that much damage ? ive never seen it do damage enough to nerf its current damage at all. and its not just backstab players now are QQing about our stealths those should be nerfed and P/D builds should be nerfed too apparently if thats the case just remove thief from the game.
Heard QQ about DD condition, DD backstab, SP pistol whip (still), P/D condition…. about the only thing I don’t hear complaints about is sword/dagger. It’s utterly ridiculous, and it’s because people don’t understand the fundamental mechanics of a thief. I read earlier somewhat saying shortbow 5 (the shadowstep shot) is ‘spammable’. No… it really isn’t.
You took the words right out of my mouth. A good portion of the crying on these forums are so ridiculous to those of us that actually play this class that it’s funny now to read them. I’ll say what I’ve been saying, Anet can’t cure stupid.
That said, my prediction is a 20% damage reduction to the backstab, removal of the trait that extends our stealth by 1 second, and whatever things they change that are not posted in the notes, which is usually the worst of it.
On a side note, would be nice to review the patch notes while we wait. COUGH Anet, post the notes please. =)
I’m having the same issue and I’ve had this in the past, most recently when the Halloween Event download took place. If I had to wager a guess it’s that their side of things can’t handle the traffic from all of the people trying to download the patch at once. Just gotta be patient.
I read the screenshots you posted here and unless there’s more you didn’t include I think you’ve created a thread that’s based on some assumptions. One, everyone knows stealth isn’t working as intended due to the culling issue. So I’m not going to say that they are going to ‘rework’ the stealth mechanic rather than fixing it to actually work properly. As far as backstab getting the nerf hammer, that may happen but I don’t see that he says anything about their damage output. That said, I fully expect the thief class to be changed. Like I said, it happens in all MMO’s post launch that tweaks are going to happen. The question is, what will the babies cry about after that? My guess, mesmer tears incoming.
