What are your “Oh wow!” moments?
When that’s what she said
;)
Thanks everyone for the advice. I’m probably just going to focus more on the three characters I mentioned that I have for now. At this point, what is going to drive me to play is if I set certain goals for them like right now I already have one complete their personal story for level 20, work to level 25 at least and then now I’ll work on doing the same now for the other 2 and so on and so forth.
What’s the point of being this game called GuildWars 2? Just because it is the sequel?
Yes.
Oh I forgot, I think this belongs here too.
The Char!
Someone had allot of time on their hands.
This is my list, but only what I want or already have some of them as.
Human – All but mostly Warrior, Ranger, Thief
Norn – Warrior, Ranger, Guardian
Charr – Warrior, Ranger and/or Thief, Engineer (EDIT: Blood Legion for Warrior, Ash for Ranger/Thief, Iron for Engineer. Thought I throw this in there for fun
)
Sylvari – Ranger, Guardian and/or Elementalist, Necromancer
Asura – Ranger, Thief, Mesmer
(edited by Steeldragon.7308)
Honestly for me, I was somewhat excited to hear about that other MMO’s expansion and was wanting to purchase the deluxe version and all that jazz but after getting into GW2 more I’m not that interested in it anymore… or even going back to it for that matter. Well, maybe once in awhile. Who knows.
If you can see the heart in the top right corner of your screen, you are within the area. I would say that is clear enough.
True but it does get annoying when we slightly leave the area while fighting whatever that when we kill it then it doesn’t count towards the heart because we were just slightly out of the heart area.
Right now I have 3 characters I’m focusing on. A Human warrior, Norn ranger, and a Charr engineer. I’m thinking of creating more but what’s the benefit? My goals right now for them is to complete their living story and get to level 80 of course but also complete the maps 100% for each one. Maybe along the way create new characters for a fresh feel every now and then but I don’t want it to feel like a “been there, done that” situation. In fact, for the heck of it I did create a new human character as a Ranger but while leveling up in Queensdale I WAS in that situation and sort of lost interest because I didn’t see the point/benefit so I just felt like just playing my Human warrior instead. However, I’m still interested to try out multiple characters and not be in that situation so I am asking for the players help that have multiple characters, how do you manage that and still what is the benefit?
You tasted someone’s disappointment?
Why did they get rid of it in the first place?
As a new player myself (relatively, been around a few months now and still learning the ins and outs) I have absolutely no regrets with regards to my investment in GW2. The community is probably the friendliest I’ve ever seen (bar some pvp elitist ragers and one or two forum members, but that happens everywhere) and the game is engaging enough to be played for hours on end, on top of casual enough to just log in and bugger about if you want.
The best part about pve in GW2 is that reaching cap level isn’t a horrifically boring grind. It can be done casually (real world casually, not WoW’s definition of casual) in a few weeks and you can go at your own pace due to the awesome scaled exp system (the game scales your level down in pve relative to the zone you’re in, granting you exp appropriate for your actual level when participating in events)
Yeah I know what you mean. Some guy from the forums even messaged me in game and blocked me when I disagreed with him. It was clear he didn’t understand a word I said. It’s funny how people get aggressive because you don’t agree with their expert opinions.
But over all, yeah the community is pretty good.
I had a guy from the forums too who messaged me in game who apparently adds “fan boys” to his list. I wonder if its the same guy? Huh. Either way, I don’t care I’m just playing a game and having fun is all.
Oh… sorry.
Not even a Friday night and already the drunks are out.
One time while playing WoW, I simply said hi to another player running around and all that player did was type in sigh. Pfft, ok. I logged out, went onto Guild Wars and didn’t have a problem with anyone wanting to join a group to do a mission. Now tonight while on GW2, a player said hi and I said hi back followed by probably 6 other players saying hi.
So, welcome to the best MMO game Guild Wars 2 and to the world of Tyria! Hope you have a blast and great experience like me.
Are we going there again? <3
I don’t know why but the picture you posted was emotional for me.
Are Dwarves coming back? :O
For almost two years (in about one week’s time) I have adored GW2. I’ve dragged several friends into the game. I’ve tried other games, but I’ve always come back to GW2. By now, I’ve spent more than 10 times what I paid for the game at the gem store.
I understand some people being upset about the new traits system and I think it was better as it originally was, but I could live with it. These latest changes though, have left me seriously frustrated. Why the sudden simplification of heart quests? Some weren’t perfect, sure, but the changes have made things vastly worse. Now, quests that were (at worst) a bit unexciting or time-consuming, are utterly boring. For example, Wayfairer Foothills used to be my favourite starting area, but now it’s far too easy and just plain dull. Instead of multiple choice attacks when transformed into a snow leopard, there’s just one attack to keep pressing like a moron. When did the client base for GW2 change from reasonably intelligent teenagers and adults who want a challenge, to pre-schoolers who just want to hit the same key over and over again? ‘Look Mama! I make kittencat hit big birdy!’.
Fixing things I can understand. Removing tedious things I can understand. Making a boring quest more exciting … I can understand. But turning GW2 into a game for little kids or people with an IQ barely out of single figures, I don’t get at all. GW2 was better than all the other MMOs out there, and one of the things it did better than any other game was that it made the whole concept of quests new, varied and intelligent. Now they’re just a minor variation on the quests in WoW, Aion, Tera, ESO and ArcheAge and quests in those games are BORING!
I’m so very, very disappointed. If this is the best you could come up with for improving the quests, you seriously need to consider changing them back to how they were before, because this is not an improvement and people are going to start calling GW2 the ‘game for simpletons’.
There are 728 heart missions in the entire game right now and you complain about the one where you had to turn into a snow leopard that you are most likely playing level 1-3 to complete? ROFL!
Its called an example O.o
I realize that.
Though out of all of the heart missions he could have picked in the starting zones, even with other races, he picked that one which IMO was a silly quest anyways.
To the OP, to be fair I do understand what you are saying but just because they made this change does not mean the game as a whole is easy. This is a “starting” area so of course it’s going to be easy. Yes I understand it may get tedious after awhile to wait until level 10 to finally start the personal story but it’s worth the wait I think. Plus, I said it before in another thread I like this change because it gives me an advantage to to level up before getting into the story and I don’t feel forced to move up at a low level. That’s just me though.
F2P… does that include the extra account plus 6 character slots, plus 3 outfits plus all the gold I bought with £ to equip all my characters in exotics, only for Ascended to come out and try to screw more money out of me?
No but no one is forcing you to buy those things to play the game, that is your choice.

The latest patch just goes to show how little Anet seems to care about its playerbase. It almost feels like contempt of us.
What I am referring to is the extraordinarily sloppy way in which this year’s Halloween events have been delivered.
Magister Tassi refers to the player character’s participation in Dragon Bash. Obviously, there was no Dragon Bash this year. Then there are the Mad Memoires NPCs in Lion’s Arch… but nowhere else.
New Player Experience? Well, there is a great experience for new players – starting an in game scavenger hunt that they then have to be told in chat is actually a scrappy remnant of an old event. Aka – Anet doesn’t clean up after itself very well.
This comes on top of the complete ignorance of the playerbase regarding MANY other much-complained about topics, including but not limited to:
Trait requirements that are impossible to achieve because they’re in WvWvW or are on timegated events which not everyone has the ability to complete.
The entire trait unlocking system overall, and level 80s out there with 3 or sometimes less traits unlocked.
The Megaserver which discriminates against guilds.
The way Ascended was implemented which discriminates against those with alts. In fact, having alts is a major detriment to a player in many ways in GW2.
The absolute balls-up of the storyline, and the disjointed, often confusing, way the dialogues now play out.
The persistent pandering to China, and giving two-finger salutes to the existing player base. The new outfit with the sedge (conical) hat being just the latest example. All these completely ignored and barely answered criticisms have left me in the state that I don’t want to log in anymore either because I feel it is futile to hope for improvement… or because I am actually so angry at the utter contempt for myself and my fellow players that it makes me not want to support the game anymore.
GW2 is still a flagship MMO, but the Captain is drunk, the helmsman jumped overboard, and it seems that all we have left is Gaile Gray (all credit to her) running around trying to plug the leaks in the hull.
Well, at least the game is F2P right? So nothing to lose!
Maybe the issue is that so many players of a MMO expect the companies to jump right up, go to a machine and simply push a button to fix an issue that the players have and when that button is not pushed they cry out “They are not listening!” I don’t think these players are being realistic here. When players have a laundry list of concerns each being the same, different or maybe even combined then that could put allot of strain on the companies having to look into the issues, where the root of the problem is and figure out what can be done to fix it and possibly perhaps find new coding to fix the issues. Depending on the issues, THEY CAN TAKE TIME to fix. They are not always going to be simple fixes like a simple push of a button. Have patience and enjoy the game while you can. If you don’t anymore because your concerns are not fixed, sorry.
As far as I’m concerned, GW2 doesn’t need “saving”. At least not as a whole maybe. The game does not seem to be dieing or close to dieing in the slightest when I’m on. I don’t know how populated each world is that you all play on but considering the world server list, every time when I see it they are all very high. Now the world I’m on is always active with players either in the major cities as well as LA, especially with the Halloween event going on right now not to mention I always see more than a handful of players in the PvE zones and chats are active. So, I don’t get it? Most of the comments though I see are about GvG and WvW. Now I haven’t played any of those yet and I’m not really interested in them right now, I’m just having fun with PvE and the game as a whole. To each their own I guess.
They really have created something fresh and special with this game. Taught me to love MMOs all over again.
Thanks for all the hard work
Agree ^
scratches head. I guess I’m confused by the purpose of this post. It’s like the owner wanted to just say it was the best game ever (for him that is).
Exactly. But not just for me, there are others too who agree with me.
He didn’t really state why or ask for comments or other thoughts.
Because IT IS. Already others are commenting and have their thoughts so I didn’t have to ask them
Almost seems like he posted it and didn’t expect or want comments or opinions of others, which is a purpose of a forum after all.
LOL! Of course I expected comments. Wow… what thinking.
Next time send an email to Anet or buy gems to show support, seems useless to me as a forum post. Almost seems kind of trollish to put this on a forum then state how you don’t understand how people can be negative or critical about the game, it is a forum after all.
Wait, so am I not allowed to post that I believe its the best MMO game here? On a GW2 forum? Why get so worked up about it sir? Maybe you don’t understand how people like myself can be so positive about the game and praise it, it is a forum after all.
Well the game is F2P so whats there to lose if you don’t think it was worth coming back too?
I would say yes, it is worth coming back too. In fact, I liked how they changed it to where you start your own personal storyline missions after reaching level 10. That to me gave me the opportunity to get into the game better, getting use to it more and it persuaded me to keep going which allows me to feel like I can do whatever I want without being rushed or forced into the main storyline at level 1 or 2. Pretty much everything gives you XP too not to mention all the world events that you can do at any given moment or time. Even the community is very helpful at times. Its one of the many reasons why I love this game so give it a shot, I’m sure you’ll be happy.
Nice strawman.
Now were resorting to name calling now huh?
If you had said worst MMO ever, and then spent most of your post talking about forum posters instead of why you thought the game was the worst ever I might very well indeed have thought it odd.
I doubt that
You might want to look up the definition of strawman.
I did. Oh the irony. Think I’m going to hop on GW2 now. Care to join me? I’ll be on Crystal Desert.
Nice strawman.
Now were resorting to name calling now huh?

The best MMO out there is WoW and will be WoW for a long time.Just look at this article:
http://www.pcgamer.com/league-of-legends-has-made-almost-1-billion-in-microtransactions/
TLDR – the 4th most successfull game for 2014 by reveneu is WoW.Making $728 millions. For a 10 year old game it is still the most successfull MMO out there.People may love it or hate it but the money can’t lie.GW2 is a good game.I can’t denie that but it’s not the best MMO on the market.
Subscription numbers have slid dramatically over the past several years (although they recently enjoyed a bounce thanks to the future launch of Warlords of Draenor), but the spending on in-game items, which is all these numbers take into account—no subscription revenues, in other words—is way up: Its nine-month total is more than triple the $213 million it earned in all of 2013
I’ve played WoW before and had fun with it. It’s a great game I’ll admit. Now compared to GW2, I find WoW not as enjoyable as it used to be and have fun more on GW2. Not that I won’t play it ever again, I might hop on there and there but it won’t be the same experience that I have with GW2. I know I’m not the only one that feels this way.
This is an odd post. Supposedly made to express the OP’s appreciation of GW2 but spends more of the post speaking about other players opinions of the game than his own. Really comes across as an attempt to start arguments rather than a, “kudos for a great game,” post. I mean if you really, “don’t care what anyone says,” why do you spend more time talking about what they say than about what you have to say about the game?
Odd post for praising and giving a kudos to a game? It must seem odd to you because you don’t see these types of posts often huh? I wonder if I had done the total opposite and said “Worst MMO ever!” I’m curious if you would have thought it odd than…
Wow, didn’t expect all these replies and arguments. I was just saying it’s the best MMO game is all. Nothing wrong with that
I don’t care what anyone says.
you are what is known as a fanboy
Why thank you! I love feedback
I guess I stirred someone up maybe more for being positive about something. Now, you people who post negative things to others who like something in particular know what it feels like to us now don’t you?
When you say that this is the best MMO, I read it as the most addicting MMO. That’s not something to be happy about.
Well, you read it wrong.
—————————————————-
Now I realize this is a MMO and because it’s an MMO it’s in our nature to EXPECT new content added left and right to keep the game “going” and for others to “continue playing”. This has been going on for God knows how long but it’s still a game right? Games were meant to be played and have fun on right? Most of the players who are criticizing the game are veterans anyway so I can understand where they are coming from but why waste time criticizing when you can either A) Find new ways to play and have fun instead of doing the same thing over and over or B ) Find something else to play if you “done it all”. Also there’s the new players that come into the game probably every day who will have fun with it and not criticize it because they are having fun, because there’s so much to do before reaching that glorious level 80 and finally beating the game. They are the backbone of this game that will continue to keep playing and keep the game going and many more new players will enter this game in the years to come. Face it, the game is only 2 years old. TWO. Quit acting like it’s 5 or more. There’s still plenty of time to add new content and expansions for you spoiled veterans * grabs your cheek *
A game is a game so if you like it, play it. If you don’t, then don’t. With 6,000 hours of game time, it seems you REALLY like(d) it. I’m sure you’ll be back to playing eventually
.
disregard the trolls
If anyone is trolling here, it’s the OP. He came here to announce he’s leaving GW2 (like boohoo?) and then later posts a screenshot of the new game he is playing like he was shoving it in our faces. I see no point there at all.
Anyways good luck dude and hope you have a blast on that new game.
I’m pretty sure there will be an expansion. Give it time and have patience. I can see Tengu being the new race to play as and that would be sweet!
Hi all. First topic on these forums. I just wanted to come here and say that GW2 is the best MMO game ever. I don’t care what anyone says. I know there are some people that come on here who bash the game because they are not happy with this or that or want to mention they are “leaving” the game because of this or that but whatever. Maybe they don’t appreciate a good game when they see one and find excuses instead of finding different ways to have fun with it. I want to change the scenery a bit here and say thanks Anet for the best MMO game and experience ever! Keep it up and looking forward to see what’s next in the world of Tyria!
I even still play GW1 from time to time and that is also one of the best game’s ever too!
:)
