Just keep mashing report so the Gestapo can come and nanny you, whatever. This is the worst official MMO forum I have ever seen.
i don’t have to mash report. there are other people that find you repulsive.
You have a very very thin skin, but this is the official GW2 forums so I can’t be surprised about that I guess.
Repulsive is a very strong word to use for someone who said that no one cares what your guild is doing, even though you said you were “telling us” a “secret”.
Thanks!
I get that, but the thing is, no one was going to ask.
Nope, you just act with this huge veil of secrecy as if anyone really cares or was going to ask who your leader was like it’s a huge secret. Do you think this is TMZ?
I think you’re a bit delusional as to how much people care about what your guild is doing, no one wants to know his name and no one cares…
PS: kitten you moderator.
Soo in some people words “Let’s not have a LFG System! Let’s all use external websites that adds functions that the game itself doesn’t have!!!”
Since this game turned out to be a supreme disappointment after Guild Wars 1, I take that a step further and play other games. They add the function of “fun to play” which this fails at.
“We don’t make grindy games” (until we run out of money)
I like how you were infracted for calling out the truth, or even speculating. This place is literally kitten Germany on a forum. The terms of service are ridiculous, the lack of information is astounding, and no one can speak their mind without flowering it up a lot.
THEN there’s the irony that you can’t discuss infracted posts, while you gleefully display if a user was infracted for it.
GREAT forums. This is why you don’t show the timestamp of the last post, because this place is dead and people are tired of both the game and the gestapo attitude you have about everything.
I am almost positive I’m wasting my breath here, post will be infracted/deleted, and I’ll notice a week from now when I log in again to see how this game is doing.
The absolute best part about this though? Blizzard CMs are even better than this. What a joke.
rather than the pit of hate brewing relentlessly.
There’s a reason for it, as well as ANet’s silence on the bedlam going on inside these forums. Reminds me of D3 backlash.
I believe the term for this is unintended consequences.
I think it’s more a case of “feature working as intended, players just never think about the consequences of seeing their constant demands finally met”
Players shouldn’t HAVE to think about issues like this. This is an encouraged and implemented feature from Anet. Players doing “due diligence” to make sure they don’t “overcrowd” is absolutely ludicrous .
Looks like this has been merged, so here it is again for the red moderator in this thread.
If you can’t “afford” to play with your friends, the main reason people play this game and the main reason you seem to wan to play, you shouldn’t be playing at all.

Buddy Im on Gandara and have no problems getting in queesdale 99% of the time. The fact is that the area has lots of events and is the first human zone. Its not because B is 2 hours from spawn. The area is just full because its a busy zone and the server is high pop. Hell a lot of guilds use it as a meeting point for events, which will trigger overflow easily and has nothing to do with the spawn window for B.
Tell that to the giant swarm of people hanging around /dancing by the shack in the swamp at all times, whether two hours from SB spawn or two minutes. Most of them don’t even move their feet to help with the prerequisite events, for fear the massive zerg will kill SB before they could get back to the swamp from the monastery or wherever.
Part of me feels sorry for them and understands, though. They have been bored for /so/ long.
This is getting abso-freaking-lutely crazy. I really can’t see anyone being an apologist for this OR why Anet has not spoken up about the issue at all except to “correct” people in other threads about what “overflow” actually means. Wow that really helps!
Just happened to me again, several times.
I’m asking this here because my warrior just hit 80 and I am in mostly exotic zerker gear because it fits what I’m doing now, which are dungeons that aren’t too hard and WvW.
So I hear “doesn’t matter what toughness you have! one shot in the harder dungeons!!” a LOT… and I mean everywhere. So then, what does melee do in this game in fights such as that? A rifle? Really?
I’m just kinda not clear on what arenanet wants this class to be, or what they want a ranger to be, or really anything. Mesmer seems to be on point, everyone else seems to hate their class “roles” with a passion.
Not sure what to think, or to keep warrior, I just know I’m a new 80 and wondering if it was a waste of time.
Thanks
I agree with your points… but your eyes are Jaundiced? Lol… Weird expression
No problems getting gold. I usually gather in Orr on 5 80s when I dont have anything else to do. Killing what comes my way so I can get some bags/dyes or such.
No magic find gear on any toons and I get 10-15g total on 5 runs. After a node reset it takes a while to find all nodes/woods on one character, but after that a zone takes maybe 15-20 minutes per toon to gather in before you have all Orichalcum and most Ancient Wood. Thats roughly 2 hours a day to get 10-15g
Heavy Moldy Bags are great for loot if you dont like gathering and prefer grinding.
The easiest way to make gold is to take your time and level alts, once you have enough things will be fast. Also take notes where nodes and wood are located.
Farm on 5 80s for two hours? What? Do you have a group going or… ?
So whats the current best money making method that does NOT involve instance/fractal running?
Interested in this too. Is it really Orr farming desperately trying to tag mobs before they die? Or is it running world bosses and hoping for a rare ? How feasible is it to depend on ectos for your big sell items?
Mainly try to answer the question I quoted first though if possible… thanks everyone
It’s not difficult at all to get more than enough gold to cover any possible expenses (repairs, tools, etc.) and then some. I’ve never had to grind for gold.
Can you and the person above you post exactly what you’re doing then, to have said gold without “repeating anything at all” ?
Bold claims
Was wondering what everyone thinks with regards to how much effort it takes to amass the gold required for Cultural armor, high level mats, etc. Are you “farming” at an acceptable rate? Are you forced to buy?
Thanks
How do other MMOs deal with this?
That’s a very good question.
I know how EverQuest dealt with it back in the day. No conditions, just Damage-over-time effects which wouldn’t stack if they were of the same “spell line”. Which meant if you wanted to know what stacked you had to do a lot of research to figure out what would work.
I know Ultima Online only had poison, which would last X seconds and do X damage per tick. Most poisons past the fourth level of severity would kill you if you couldn’t insta-cure. Most monsters they needed challenging would inflict sixth level poison somehow, or do more base damage than players could have health.
Other than that, don’t know about how other MMOs would handle it. I hadn’t played enough of more recent offerings.
Hmm good info, any other MMO experiences people want to share with regards to how conditions are handled?
How do other MMOs deal with this?
I see players all the time, I must spend most of my time in overflows and queues :S
I even see a lot of people in the mid leveling zones :S
They need to remove some servers. WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too many. The game is not popular enough for the amount of servers we have.
Yes.
Conncept, bluewanders: Do you two think you can continue this discussion without open or thinly veiled personal insults? I would hate if the moderators would have to hand out warnings, as overall this is an interesting discussion.
Thank you.
Moderator,
Do you believe that you can respond to this threads content of merit rather than a squabble that you almost always initiate an “infraction” for in private?
We want to hear you answer questions.
Animal cops is so sad!
The concept of cyberbullying is absurd. Can we find yet another way to promote victimhood and make people less responsible for themselves?
Bullying is equally as irresponsible as victimhood.
Victimhood tries to dodge consequences for own’s mistakes, bullying tries to dodge consequences that would happen if you were to say such things face to face..
Face to face? I’m so sick to death of hearing people on the internet say “WHY DONT YOU USE YOUR REAL NAME!!!???” “SAY THAT TO MY FACE!!!” It lets everyone know you are exactly like the person harrassing you while also pointing out that people want anonymity for one reason: their job. If no one was held accountable by their employer (read: given freedom expression even when identifieed) no one would GIVE A ****** and would DEFINITELY tell you whatever you want with full on info.
PS: The concept of cyberbullying is absurd. Can we find yet another way to promote victimhood and make people less responsible for themselves? Just thought I’d share my opinion since it was brought up in the OP.
Totally see your point w/r/t personal responsibility but cyberbulling is definitely a “thing” for kids nowadays.
Thanks, it would be a big help to most all of us playing the game.
The majority of people(this is why you see the negativity on the internet) had a lot of hope for this game and it let them down pretty badly. That is why you see this. You also see the typical sycophants wherever you go because that’s the nature of really anything.
It’s better than most mmo’s weekly or daily maintenance downtime.
Are you referring to MMOs that actually try to patch bugs that have been in their game since beta?
Agreed. It’s incredibly annoying.
Anyone else feel free to share your experiences here, I am linking this thread on multiple forums.
This is still a HUGE and ANNOYING problem for many people that I know.
I have no idea how this post can survive their all encompassing draconian terms of service for the forums but I applaud you for attempting to bring the issue to light, as well as all archiving sites that expose everything they delete.
What the person above me said. can’t echo it enough.
Yes it does, I agree.
Never was broken. It affects the cooldown of their [the Phantasms] attacks.
When was it fixed? What patch?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Phantasmal-Haste
There are several threads about it.
How long has this game been out now?? Shouldn’t this be fixed?
Just wondering, it doesn’t seem to be working for my friend.
Yeah, it is still an issue.
I already have 1 level 80 character (Human Elementalist). I have to say, it took me about 125 hours to get to level 80 (Yes, I take my time playing and not rushing like hell), and in those 125 hours, I enjoyed literally everything about the game. Although saying everything is an understatement. That’s because I haven’t done everything yet. In fact, I only finish 42 % of the map
And I still have lots of unexplored territories and regions to cover. I still have dungeons to finish, gear to make, and all the like.
While it may sound grind-y and very repetitive.. it’s not, it’s because there is always something new in this game. Each day, I can always expect something outrageous, funny, epic or just awesome!
In short, the game’s end game (Which is the entire game) is pure awesome!
P.S. The story is actually very good (In my opinion), I like the characters(Yes, even Trahearne, he only seems boring because of his scholarly attitude), the way it was presented, the music, and the choices!
Does arenanet pay you people to write such lavish things? This is a bit unrealistic
I agree with his points, but are we really seriously supposed to know who “WoodenPotatoes” is and have this feeling that his opinion somehow matters more than someone else’s? Why is this person relevant? Who cares? Just say “this guy said” or whatever. The internet gives so many people the false sense of importance
I get the impression that he doesn’t “get” the game on a very basic level.
I’m in the KITTEN NO to traditional linear quests crowd
I agree, but watch the rest of the video. If you have played FF12 it really really makes sense

Well, his videos are really well put together and he has some provocative things to say. He is one of the few people I put any stock in when it come to GW2 from a fan perspective. Watch the videos, make your own call. He is correct that the game needs more things to draw players into cities and unused areas and it needs to expand its lore and story base to make it feel alive. But I feel they are aware of these things (the dev team), and that they will iron it out eventually. They created a huge wonderful background, now it’s just to wait to see how they improve and flesh out what they have created.
Yeah, totally with all of that. If you just walk around and explore the world there’s so many things and it looks really, really well done… but a lot of the “things” are mere dolls and seemingly movie sets with no real purpose.

What determines aggro in this game? This is not a topic for players helping players, kindly do not move the thread.
From the wiki
Aggro refers to gaining, controlling and losing the aggression of hostile NPCs. The aggro system is simple—NPCs will select targets primarily based on a range calculation, meaning the character or pet closest to the NPC will hold its attention.1 However, there are additional factors such as which characters are doing damage, and how much each character has done. In addition, not all creatures use the same AI for aggro; some creatures will have unique aggro mechanics 2
My question is has anyone quantified how this works specifically? Which mobs are different and why?
Will there every be pure logic to the randomness of PvE in this game?
I think you had to be in beta to understand why it was done. Right now it’s a bit too low and almost insulting but it’s probably a lot easier to balance across the board around a trait line that not everyone will spec. Make it any better and then it becomes a trait point tax—“go Disc or go home” FTL. Everyone loves to play I’m A Game Designer and I Know Better.
Also:
Some of the comments here are downright disrespectful and ridiculous. Why would they hate on their own game and take joy in nerfing their own game. Why would anyone. That makes no sense and it’s scary how much video game rage can make one come to such a far fetched conclusion.
Gee, wonder who this guy is. Hmmm.
You can’t retroactively implement rules and punish people for them because they “should have known”. You can keep posting all you want but my stance isn’t going to change on that and neither will a lot of people’s.
Okay, then go hide in a corner wearing your non-transmuted clothing since it’s safer to do that than get banned for getting a Transmutation Stone. I was giving my helpful 2 cents and you shot me down.
I’m going to do it since it seems acceptable. Even If i weren’t, I’m not hiding from anything. I would be protecting what I bought though.
Because I’ve seen people banned before something was called an exploit and I’d rather not experience that customer service.
Because getting ~6 tran stones/hour is an exploit that gives you an unfair advantage. (Assuming you know the fast routes for every town and can do 2 towns in 1 hour.)
It takes 30 minutes to an hour to get rushed through the personal storyline, allowing people to get ~1.5 Black Lion Keys an hour, but it requires one person to take the short-end of the stick and rush them (up to 4 people can get rushed, meaning ~6 keys per hour, assuming you take 45 minutes). But that’s 6 keys divided between 5 people, meaning everyones getting 1.2 keys per hour.
Not an exploit, because it takes time no matter what angle you take on it.
GW2 is supposed to be about 2 things:
TIME and SKILL.
You can’t really get punished for using either of those. Remember the guy who solo’ed Lupicus as a Warrior? He “abused” some of the mechanics of that fight to be able to solo Lupicus. Did he get banned? No, he got praised for his skill and theory of the fight.

Typically when it comes to ban-worthy exploits, there’s a direct connection between the exploit being used and the trading post, and/or a very clearly incorrect reward for effort expended.
Right and I get that, but it’s kinda ridiculous. People exploiting tax loopholes aren’t arrested, they amend the law. However recently they have retroactively charged people and the outcome of that isn’t determined yet. I just see it as very scummy and terrible of a company to say “ah! you knew you shouldn’t do that!” even if that is true for most people, I guarantee you there is someone out there that had no clue and was culled because of it.
It’s unethical, period IMHO. Either way thanks for your very informative answer the first time!
Because I’ve seen people banned before something was called an exploit and I’d rather not experience that customer service.
Also, if you want to farm NORMAL stones, make new characters and map complete towns. They are easy, quick, and reward 3 each.
This really works? Seems like they wouldn’t allow that

And I still have lots of unexplored territories and regions to cover. I still have dungeons to finish, gear to make, and all the like.
