I’m trying to find a roaming build to use, and the condition interrupt looks interesting. I can’t believe I never thought of using Grenth runes. Have you guys tried using it for roaming? Any variations worth considering that are more specialized for roaming? Scepter/Pistol and Sword/Something looks like it could work.

I was thinking something like this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fhAQNAraWl0npRtlpxGNcrNyqxY6WO5FUlVp3I7AA-TlRHABDcIAEZ/hCV/RgTAAa6DA4JAAA-w

I sacrificed additional bounces and disenchanter for harmonious mantras and null field respectively. Why strip two boons when I can strip them all? I can see how bounces would be useful in a PvP situation, but if I encounter more than two people while solo roaming, I’m getting the hell out. Mantra of Resolve grants me on-demand chill. I might even be able to get 100% uptime.

Scepter/torch + sword/pistol PU build?

Too tankie to go celestial and PU.Its good one,but quite unfunn, very similar in “yawn” dmg like condie pu :-).But if you like celestial stats, and that weapon set,you could try shatter condie, had loads of funn with it in PvP.More fragile than PU,but still not bad, while dmg was sometimes surprising.Stuff suddenly melting, like if some unseen hand was slaping em :-).

Thou i personally would stick to sword/torch+scepter/pistol.You might find higher need for torch while in melee, than on scepter.

Shatter condition sounds interesting. Any links to builds? A lot of the pinned threads seem really outdated.

Just wondering, what happened to hybrid builds with the patch? I just came back after several months, so I’m not completely caught up with the meta

The thing with Osicats napalm build and staff is that the burn duration creates 2s procs of burning from staff AA’s, giving 100% burning uptime. Add in the burns from heals you can draw out their condi cleanse, then stack on heaps of burning so even if they’re running they’re gonna go down. Dropping staff in the Balth Condi build is a bad idea.

Napalm cat is amazing at what it does, it’s what it doesn’t do that’s the problem. Balthazar runes are critical to the build, and sacrificing traveler’s for it is just too much for me, especially without a reliable source of swiftness. Swapping the weapon combos sounds interesting. Can the hybrid build work well in the current meta?

1V1 yes, vs roaming gank squads spamming condi’s you’ll likely feel the pressure, and underwhelming yourself. Vs high sustain/bunker warriors etc you might not be able to overcome them. Otherwise yeah, Hybrid is great, and the weapon options are fun. I used to run hybrid in wvw, got plenty of vids and stuff up on my channel, but after the big rune patch I felt it got gutted to much. Here’s the old build thread updated with post patch changes.

Any other PU roaming builds to consider? I’m trying to find the most irritating, ragequit-indusing build possible. Something that will make them go “what the hell just happened?”

I’ve been playing with Osicat’s Napalm Cat build recently. It’s a very interesting build, but I’ve been running into some issues with it. Specifically, it takes forever to kill people and it’s too easy for them to just run away. Dropping staff for sword/pistol gives me two forms of cc, and a great source of bleed. Of course, this shakes up the build a bit, and I’m not sure where to go from here. I’d love to use travelers again, and I want a little more power while keeping strong condition damage and insane amounts of stealth and mobility (probably rabid gear). Has anyone ever used a scepter/torch sword/pistol hybrid build? Any ideas?

Blink. Your blink is amazing, and it can frustrate people so much. Use it whenever it’s off cooldown, make some clones and then blink around, blink then decoy, dance around your opponent. A good Mesmer makes the opponent fight on your terms. Far Reaching Manipulations is well worth the investment too.

Ok. Then is any way to make him like more male? :P

“Purple” includes a pretty broad range of colors. My Mesmer’s robes have purples more on the blue side, and he looks pretty male.

Your Strength and Weakness?

in Mesmer

Stormbolt.7293

Strengths

  • Survival: This is probably my biggest strength. The one thing I consider myself far better than the typical person at is staying alive. I hardly ever die. Sometimes I successfully kill them, sometimes they get away, sometimes I flee, but they never kill me. One of my favorite things to do in WvW is to run by zergs and lead them on a wild goose chase for the next 5 minutes while I warn my world about them. It’s hilarious.
  • Condition builds: I’ve played around with several builds, and I’ve found that I do best with condition builds. They tend to focus around outlasting your opponent, which I’m quite good at. Mesmers are about being annoying as hell, and condition builds are the most annoying in my opinion.

Weaknesses

  • Interrupt timing: Unfortunately, even though I can outlast people, I take a long time to kill them. The main reason for this is because I’m bad at recognizing animations. If I can figure out how to interrupt heals, I can take people down a lot better.
  • Shatter builds: For some reason, I just can’t play shatter builds well.

I’d really like to get a glimpse of Mordremoth, maybe even a little skirmish with him. One thing that really disappointed me with Zhaitan was that you only actually saw him for about 5 minutes of the entire game. I get that they wanted to get the full shock value out of the massive, intricate model. However, it didn’t feel nearly as satisfying as it would have if you had gotten glimpses of him before.

the i5 is terrible for gaming. Its a dual core clocked at 1.7 (cause its a ultra low voltage CPU).

the 840M is ok, but with a weak CPU like that it wont matter what GPU you end up with.

You want an i5-M or i7-HQ at a MIN to play this game.

Yeah, I figured I wouldn’t be getting 60 FPS at ultra or anything. As long as it’s playable on medium I’ll be happy. What can I realistically expect?

24 FPS on low settings, is what you can expect, if you get more you’ll be happy.

If you did not buy that laptop yet, then look for something better (maybe a better CPU?). If you did, then it is what it is. the CPU is not upgradable as its soldered to the motherboard (BGA socket)

Lenovo has great deals on Y50s right now. I’m thinking I might just get that, and get a tablet another time.

I’m considering getting a Thinkpad Yoga 14, but being mostly a desktop gamer, I’m not too well acquainted with mobile graphics cards. How will Guild Wars 2 run with the following specs? I’d like 1080p ideally, but I could settle for 720 if it gives me a significant performance boost.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4210U Processor( 1.70GHz 1600MHz 3MB)
RAM: 8GB 1600
GPU: Nvidia GTX 840M

The Sylvari as Mordremoth Minions?

in Living World

Stormbolt.7293

I think a more probable theory is that Mordremoth’s means of obtaining minions is corrupting beings with a connection to the Dream. I have a feeling he’s responsible for the Nightmare Court.

Who act no more like dragon minions than the Inquest, or the Flame Legion…

In fact a few, like Gavin, are less evil than many other evil NPCs in the game.

True. It could be possible that the Nightmare Court is just an unintended consequence of his corruption. It’s worth noting that everything Mordremoth has corrupted has a connection to the Dream.

The Sylvari as Mordremoth Minions?

in Living World

Stormbolt.7293

I’m thinking that the seeds/pale trees were created by someone or something to fight Mordremoth and the other dragons, and the reason they were deep in a cave guarded by plant creatures was to keep them from growing, perhaps because they’re not easily destroyed. If they really are Mordremoth’s minions, it wouldn’t make sense for some of them to be born with an insatiable urge to murder his brethren. Some may argue that the pale tree that we see was unique because of Ventari’s influence. However, I think Malyck’s temperament solidly disproves that the Sylvari are innately corrputed. He may not have Ventari’s hippie influence, but Malyck is clearly shown to be benevolent and altruistic.

Pretty self explanatory, I currently switched to a scepter MH for Osicat’s Napalm Cat build, but I can’t decide on which scepter I want to use. Which scepters do you guys like for your Mesmers? I’m running a purple color scheme, so something that’s purple or goes along with it nicely is a must.

The new patch changed quite a lot, and I haven’t had the time to really play around with it. I need a new WvW build since shatter went to hell. Both roaming and zerg builds are fine, I’m pretty open minded so long as I can be the most annoying, rage-inducing Mesmer possible.

There’s really no new truly viable builds.

For zerg mesmer, your choices are still incredibly limited. I believe my Zergmower build is still the best choice there for overall tagging potential (check the build list).

For roaming, PU condie is still best. You can do a condition shatter build like Zumi mentioned, but it’s simply not as good as PU condie. It’s more fun to play though, that point I’ll gladly concede.

I was hoping that the new grandmaster traits would add something. What can you suggest as far as builds for the two?

Erm, for the two what?

Condition shatter and PU condition. I’m fairly new to both, I’ve only played shatter and phantasm

I’m just getting back into the game after about a 6 month haitus, so I might be a bit behind.

But from my experimentation so far I love the new tormet trait.

As far as a build, I’m currently running a 1/0/6/0/6 shatter/condi build with both PU and the new tormet trait. It’s really survivable and gives I’ve been able to take out numerous groups by myself.

With that said, I’m considering taking out PU to get the boon stripping trait, because boons are a huge pain, but I’m still toying with it. Shatter/condi is relatively new to me, but it’s been a lot of fun so far for small man WvW and roaming.

This looks interesting, condition mesmer looks like it got buffed. Any other suggestions?

Lockdown build with new grandmasters

I’ve played a shatter Mesmer up until now, but lockdown looks very rewarding to me. I’d like to put together a lockdown build with the new grandmaster traits in mind. The cooldown interrupt in domination and especially the torment in illusions interest me, although I don’t require both. I already have berserker gear, so I’d like to use that if at all possible. Could anyone help me?
