With the new nerfs coming up I decided to nerf myself and record a day playing with the new self nerfed spec. There will be a new video very soon… Today in fact. Just waiting on youtube to finish processing it. Stay tuned guys and keep your chins up. These nerfs are going to hurt but we can get through this.

Since I found out about the upcoming nerf to Hammer… I decided to prepare by dropping Unsuspecting Foe and Merciless hammer to try to somewhat equal the new nerfs that are coming. Keep in mind this analysis is only for WVW and my toon is in mostly zerk gear with a few cavalier pieces, with hammer and sword shield.

So far it has been much harder to defeat people I fight and the burst is insanely lower. But, I still win vs most classes in a 1v1 fight. I have always had a hard time with mesmers and with my self nerf they have become impossible. Because you only have a small window of a few seconds to burst them before they teleport or invis or have aegis up again. I would say after the patch goes live a smart mesmer will laugh at all warriors, but vs other classes warrior will be ok. But the one thing I cannot test is how weak hammer will be vs someone with Stability since my self nerf only takes the damage away from stunned targets. I’m quite sure even with my 99% crit damage it will hit like a wet noodle… but until that day I am trying to stay positive and will continue to use this “self nerf” to ready my body for the nerf hammer.

Before the warrior got its current buffs all the condi spammers easily laughed at warrior because condition damage only requires one stat to do damage (condition damage).. .with that you can stack any defensive stat you want… To do physical damage you need 3 stats… power precision and crit damage… with all three of those you can no longer stack anything to defend yourself. Warrior managed to counter that current meta and all the condi folks went into Cry mode. The thing is, a well played mesmer can take a warrior no problem… a well played dagger pistol thief can blind spam a stun lock warrior into submission. A necro or engie that know hows to kite for 8 seconds can laugh at a warrior. As long as we are going to make warrior useless lets nerf all those classes that can embarrass anyone playing a warrior until the spvp meta returns to spam all condi’s into a small circle and no one plays any melee class, just like everyone likes it. Now that my emo over the top QQ has been said… healing sig is too strong for SPVP as it is… but stop calling for nerfs to skills that a warrior has always had since the beginning… (Unsuspecting Foe/Merciless hammer)… Before two months ago those two skill where laughable … hammer was a joke “so easy to dodge.” When they first introduced the new zerker stance at 4 seconds, I felt it was incredible… the buff to 8 was too much …. the buff to healing sig was too much in conjunction with it… but the power of Earthshaker does not need a nerf… it has not changed from day one. The fact that you can cleanse 3 condis with Bow f1 no matter if it hits or misses is broke, I agree. Not sure what they can do with that. Anyone who has seen my Videos will look at them and think warrior is OP… but in truth those people I kill are bad.. no one can deny that.. Also I rely on an engy to heal me. I would agree that healing sig is stupid atm… it heals more per 30 seconds than any other heal and should be set to the point that it is on par with healing surge…. I must admit I miss a nice burst heal but healing sig is too good. My biggest fear is something crazy like Cleansing Ire and Hammer mastery being a 30 point trait so that you can only have one…. I would pretty much quit this game if that happened. And folks… moving Unsuspecting Foe up will only nerf Skull crack which I’m pretty sure is a non issue.. and the one skill that makes hammer fun…. Earthshaker….. U/F only makes Earthshaker crit… it does not affect any of the knock down skills of hammer…. 4/5 … If you are getting hit by hammer 5 or earth shaker.. I am sorry but it is your fault. I really really hope they just look at healing sig and do not destroy specs that have been around forever. Currently healing sig is only so good because the warrior has so many invulnerable frames on top of stuns to make passive regen OP. I have played 0 10 30 0 30 for as long as I can remember. Warrior has always been my favorite class due to the big crits of earthshaker from day one. I will be sad if they nerf unsuspecting foe just because healing signet went too far.

Wilson what do you think about sigil of fire instead of sigil of impact?

That sigil would likely net more damage, but the reason I don’t use it is, it shares a CD with on swap sigils and can make me not gain that 50% dodge… which is super important to me.

@ Gutts about the GS… I played with GS forever.. but when they changed Final thrust to be a finisher I never looked back… I do miss the mobility of GS … but sword leap is neat for getting over gaps and such.

I put my sack into a wheelbarrow and jump into situations where there is pretty much no chance of winning until fighting 1 or 2 becomes easy.

ROFL … what is that doing over there…? I hope those guardians don’t think a warrior is better for a group than a guardian just because of huge CC and damage. In fact a guardian has the power to completely negate my warrior’s damage for his whole group.

Well they are Fixing the stun sigil … I think that will fix a lot of peoples’ issues with the stun durations. As soon as I found out that they where fixing it I stopped using it. In fact I played around with that Mace Shield GS garbage for a while and saw soooo much crying about it… I said ok I will play something else it will get nerfed sadly. Plus earthshaker is still the most fun skill in game hands down.

Do you mean that hammer warriors have perma stun?… I have never seen anything easier to avoid that Earth shaker. And if you mean “Skill” crack I have a duel with one of those that is pretty good and I make tons of mistakes and still beat him. In this nearly 3 minute clip … he only lands ONE skill crack on me.

Not sure if serious….. all the regen is from the engie and I working together as the game intends. Guardians spec’d for AH get 300 defense and 30% crit damage, massive heal from Staff… regen, protection,Blind, invincibility while healing. invincibility while using elite, excellent condi cleanses, mega group support.. Warrior gets the ability to pull his head out and use his teammates combo fields properly. While it is true a guardian should never kill a warrior due to mobility… if a warrior kills a guardian.. that guard is doing it wrong. PS I killed a lot of warriors in this video… BURST DAMAGE!!!! Too many people are so in love with being tanky they can’t understand why they can’t kill someone… omg sorry I don’t mean any disrespect I guess I just get upset because warrior was so down for so long.

I want to jump in now and say Greek is a good warrior. He is also quite a troll in the battle field. He knows he is. He lives to kitten people off. That’s why I dedicated a section to him to troll him back a bit. That being said he is a good warrior and the Svanir runes thing that he does is nothing short of brilliant. And yes one of the times he bolts if you watch my party you can see the thief is downed. Also I updated my original to post and will be adding any new videos to that post as I make them. Bolderbolg is correct when he says that BG has the most small man guilds out there.

Hello everyone My name is Wilson… I play a warrior in the small man squads of Jade Quarry’s Strike Force. I have been making videos for only about a month now. With the great fights OPP has been providing this week I really wanted to post this video here for all to enjoy. I only have a free version of Bandicam, so I miss a ton of stuff but here are some highlights anyway.

Most of the video was running away from a fight then running back then running away..then running back… I’m not sure if the definition of skill for warrior players these days is running away half the time.

It’s scary seeing all the old forum posters/old players/ good players quit the game.

And now newcomers are congratulating each other on this stuff >.>. I guess Anet’s plan is to survive on new blood while forcing the old to quit due to non competitive wvw/spvp.

Thanks for watching… In my own defense the way that my little group works is when one of us gets focused they disengage to change the focus so the other can wreck more havoc. We never stay in long. I am mostly there for a quick CC and burst and as a target location for the engies to drop grenades. I certainly don’t think I am some kind of super warrior I just thought it was a fun situation to watch…. but all that winning we did is all because of the synergy I have with those killer engies.

What are your thoughts on swapping balanced stance and endure pain for Dolyak Signet and Signet of Stamina, and changing Vigorous Focus to Signet Mastery?

I think those are very good choices and some people really prefer the signets to the stances. It’s pretty much just a personal preference thing… you see I like to front load immunity to conditions and endure pain to push in fast heavy damage while being undamageable to make the weak hearts scatter…. that’s why I enjoy the stances over the signets… that being said the signets are still great.

I like this video a lot… you play almost the exact build I run, only I use Sword/Shield and Hammer. I just sub’d to you and would love it if you took a look at my stuff too

If i could provide one little tip: if you could do autocast on point instead of click, that would be a skill +1. Takes some practice but once you get used to it it will make you less predictable. Also, souldbinding sheathe/unsheathe weapon and using it when you expect your attack to miss, can save you useful cd time.

I’m not sure what you mean by the autocast on point instead of click… please explain further. And you are so right about that sheath weapon… the keybind it is on currently I just can’t reach it well and still have not found a great place to put it yet.

Thanks Boulderbolg. I’m a fan of lots of your guilds stuff. My guild is the same SF that you know but I’m usually not online during their prime time so I don’t get to run with the main force much. Also I see your point about endure pain but ever since they lowered the cooldown on it I just love to pop it early and often. Anytime I feel like I’m getting focused I just hit it and the focus suddenly changes.

I love the combination of hoelbrak runes lemongrass food and dogged march. Snares just fall off of me. And mobility is paramount to me as you can see in the video I move around a ton.

It turns out that I am really starting to love this film editing and movie making stuff. I’m pretty sure I will continue to make more videos and hopefully they get better in quality as I learn how to edit.

I have been having a similar problem this week. All skills have about 1-4 second lag and things like ride the lightning actually just cause me to stand still and go nowhere. I completed a speed test and it shows 26mb download and 5mb upload with a 16 ms latency. My framerate stays above 70 at most times. I tried playing other web based games and they run perfectly smooth. This skill lag occurs anywhere in game. WVW, PVE and SPVP. I play on Jade Quarry.
