This thread makes me smile. I haven’t decided what I am going to do. Balance is better than it has been. But warrior is so much weaker than everyone else that it’s getting to the point I don’t really want to play at all.

Wow! While I am extremely flattered, I do want to say that I am mechanically “strong” at best. As an all around pvp player I have more flaws than strengths. My map awareness, and decision making skills are equal to that of a potato. I still don’t know the names of the nodes. I call them North, South, mid, East and West. I almost always jump into outnumbered fights because I’m a complete ding dong and it makes me giggle. Off stream I play differently. But, 90% of my play time is on stream and most of that is with my baby sleeping in my lap. This equates to very little attention to the actual match and more on having fun with my chat and of course not dropping a baby on her head lol. I have never played with a team or even on a voice chat. If you want to call me the Most attractive Warrior NA I will take that. Actually no. Most attractive and humble warrior WORLD. But to consider me best is definitely not taking into account all the factors that go into a “skilled” PVPer. Also I haven’t given up on warrior completely. I just can’t. But when I can kill someone by pressing 2 and stance swap on a revenant I think why does warrior swing so slow? I cry every time.

I do not get to play as much as many others. I have 1200 total spvp games since launch and I did manage to make it to Diamond rank with about 90% warrior games. Warrior isn’t exactly bad it’s just everything else is SO much better and Diamond feels like the end of the road without a strong group to carry me. I just love the warrior and can’t manage to have any fun playing other classes. I have high hopes for the warrior update but also fear the over buff. It’s not any fun being underpowered but at least you get respect when you beat someone rather than being OP and everyone thinks you suck and are carried by your class.

Beating a Mesmer as a warrior is no easy task. Especially the ever immortal condi Mesmer. But I did do it one time. Got it recorded.

Hello fellow warriors. This idea has been floating around in my head a lot lately and I wanted to see what everyone out there thinks of it. Currently the strength line offers only one useful trait in the first set (peak performance) which is then only useful if you want to play Ramapage.

My idea is to have leg specialist swap with restorative strength. This would now compete with Ramapage super god mode and would possibly make to the limit more useful for those who want to play shout heals.

In its current location neither of these two traits are being utilized and I believe this small tweak could be very useful, especially with the introduction of the berserker and those that want to play power with headbutt rather than rampage. And it would also increase might stacking in pve for those people using phalanx strength.

Overall this change just seems like it would add extreme synergy to currently under used or even completely useless traits, that are only useless because of where they are located.

I am not an expert spvp player by any means but I wanted to share a little trick I found with the earthshaker skill that can be very helpful on forest of Niflhel. On the keep there is always someone up top out of reach and I discovered that you can actually earthshaker up top to the enemy. I’m not sure if this is common knowledge or not but it certainly surprised me and I wanted to share it with everyone. This is great. I love the hulk look, cracks me up. You are already very competent on the warrior and doing very well. I wanted to give a small bit of advice that really took me too long to realize how good it can be. Find a really easy to reach keybind and put stow weapon on it. Stowing those long cooldown attacks when you get blinded or see aegis pop up it can really be a game changer. It’s easy to think this is unneeded because you can still be very successful on warrior without it. I always thought it wouldn’t change much. But since I have learned to control my misses and to even bait dodges with back breaker cancels, I have been able to win fights vs people who had me on farm before. Again great fun informative videos. Please don’t think I am implying you play badly. That is not the case. But with stow weapon a beast can become a monster!

Getting jumped on or emote spammed after getting ganked in wvw can be upsetting to most anyone. But these guys have perfected it into an art form. That Char just made me blush. But I want to make a disclaimer about my stream. If you are looking for amazing warrior gameplay I will let you down. My stream is just casual and for fun. Tarcis is the number one warrior NA right now. I’m just a kitten that likes to experiment with bizarre builds all the time.

That level up knockback can be super funny and also frustrating in wvw. I remember when people would use level up tomes to knockback and get a full heal.

Here’s a cool little trick. If you are fighting a guardian and they use shelter they will be blocking during their heal. If you have 1 point in the strength tree and a sigil of doom you can use reckless dodge to apply that poison during the heal since reckless dodge is unblockable.

Reckless dodge can also proc fire and air sigils for a crazy burst that is pretty funny.

Reflect while blocking can stealth you if the ranger shoots your shield with number 3.

If you use sigil of intelligence on a hammer pared with merciless hammer and use rampage. The damage is insane.

The sword F1 can be canceled after the immobilize is applied and you still get the full duration.

If you use brawlers recovery rampage counts as a weapon swap and will remove a condition.

Sword 2 can be used from an elevation and if you swap weapons mid leap you will travel further.

Use heal sig above water and another heal below water for a quick burst heal if you need it.

Rampage can be used on land and if you have signet of rage on your water set the signet will not be on cool down.

Warriors get the most chicks.

Great video. You have good skills. A well player hammer Warrior is a real biotch to deal with. After watching these type of videos it always inspires me to try it myself. The problem is lack of skill on my part would make it a long frustrating day in WvW

It’s too bad they were there, would have been fun to fight a mirror match against the master.

I remember this moment. I saw the multiple mesmers and warrior coming at me and I said … well YOLO… see what happens. Not sure if I noticed the bow… but that is much better than the usual laugh spam I get from losing vs multiples while I am alone.

I started using the build yesterday and I absolutely love it. The only difference was gear and/or sigil choices; not because I wanted to, but that’s what I had at the time.

I had soldiers with melandru runes with zerker accessories; although my knights set does not have any runes so I went ahead and placed an order for some hoelbrak runes to use in it. My hammer and sword have sigil of fire in them (energy on shield) and I’m liking that so far.

my warrior isn’t my main (well, it is now since I don’t play my guardian very often) I don’t have the ascended armor that my guardian has, which kind of sucks. Not looking forward to fractals.

I think Hoelbrak is a good set to add to knights gear … since knights has such low power…. Me I’m a junky for monster crits that make weak hearts scatter so I use zerker all day!…. But a small word of advice that not many people are not aware of … if you use an on crit sigil like fire… it will put your energy swap sigil on cooldown… which is why I stick with static stat increase sigils.

Dont feel bad Dr. Kong… Warriors really should be losing to smart thieves and of course the all mighty mesmer… well at least I suck vs. mesmer… I get too into my own head trying to figure them out. Also SKULLLL CRACK JUMP IS AWESOME

One question about your new build: have you tried Destruction of the Empowered? Instead of III, V you could try V, VIII, you still have almost perm swiftness in your build.

I have tried what you suggest and it is really good. In fact it’ts probably better than what I use. It just came down to a personal preference for me. I like knowing that my speed increase cannot be removed and I don’t have to micro manage keeping swiftness up.

Ok guys … after extensive testing. I have decided on my new WvW hammer warrior build. I tried out 20 points in Arms for the unsuspecting foe… but the loss of the crit damage and 7% burst damage made earthshaker hit too weak. Not to mention I could no longer do my favorite combo of Sword flurry cancel… swap hammer stuns.

I play a hybrid Mesmer as a main and was wondering, did the Mesmer you face use a GS + S/P or S/T? There is a build that uses P/T/C armor + zerker items to cause massive amounts of conditions and direct damage. I was curious as I fought a hammer warrior the other day with this build and pretty much kited him around while the conditions did the job.

He clearly, was not a graduate of the Wilsonian Institute.

I want to be completely honest here and say that……. I have no freaking idea wtf that mesmer was doing. And that is why I almost always lose to a good mesmer.

They befuddle me. I spend most of my time trying to decipher if they have a spec that if i kill the clones they explode and hurt me… or if the clones are stacking condis or if the mesmer is a stealthy hidey one.

Dang I’m hurting my head thinking about it.

For all I know you fought me…. I am so bad vs. a smart mesmer, and after the nerf you guys are going to drop warriors with tears in your eyes from laughing so hard at how easy it was.

I still feel like the hammer warrior will be my favorite class… but mesmers are about to be the new warriors and the forums will be filled with the tears of all other classes crying for nerfs, because they would rather have people suck than just learn to play.

I say it’s awful because I chose a useless trait in the 30 point slot in place of merciless hammer… But you can see it in this video at the one minute mark.

That build drops U/F for leg specialist. And also drops Merciless hammer for a useless trait to = the new nerf coming.

I really love leg specialist now. And when the nerf goes live, I will be picking up Merciless hammer again.

With roaming, and heck even zerging, I like to do as much damage as possible more than being tanky. But that is also why most of my videos I am teamed with an engy so they can heal me with water fields and blasts.

I personally have never liked the nights gear… the power is too low for my taste and then you lose crit damage as a trade off for the toughness. Warriors dont need a huge crit chance In my opinion. 30% is good for me since we get so much fury uptime.

I would try to aim for 30% crit chance and 2700 armor… then start stacking the power and crit damage. Warriors have awesome, insane burst, and that to me is what warriors should maximize and focus on. Let the guardians be tanky boon bots. Warriors are here to destroy!

I did not get a lot of time to play WvW this last week VS. Maguma. But the times that I did get in, when I wasn’t sitting in Queue, I ran into a few of Maguma’s roamers and they seemed to enjoy dueling at the windmill. So I hit record whenever they wanted a duel. One duel I did not record was vs. a mesmer that made me look like I had never played the game before. Sorry I didn’t get the footage.. but you know who you are.

Earthshaker is by far my favorite move in the game… but it is also the most frustrating move in the game… In that first fight 3v2 you can see me trying so hard to Earthshaker and all it does is make me stand there clearing the green circle… makes me insane. Maybe they will make it more fluid along with the nerf.

Your damage is boosted by consumables and full ascended gear. Sadly in spvp/tpvp/hotjoin you get no consumables, no ascended gear and only 1 amulet. The damage output and control will be lost in these modes.

That is true. The damage is skewed much higher in WvW… I cannot really say how this will effect SPVP since I don’t do much of it. If I can offer at least one comforting thought, (Everyone’s damage and armor and stats are lower in spvp) not just Warriors.
So the healing signet is stronger there than it is in WvW. As it should be, since you are forced to stand in circles with aoe condis spammed at you all day.

The easiest to avoid and slowest weapon set gets a nerf to make it slower and easier to avoid.

I’m not completely sure if this hostility is meant for me or at Anet for nerfing Mace, but I could not really nerf myself to show how the upcoming nerf to mace will be.

That being said I did ask the other warrior in the film (Vexx Smash) to try out a spec that uses sword shield and Great sword. He found it to be quite effective combined with leg specialist. He would use sword leap to activate the root then F1 Flurry cancel into a 100 blades whirl combo. At this point leg specialist is off CD… so throw the GS with number 4 for another root, then swap back to Sword Shield and finish with a shield bash/Final thrust. In the end he actually preferred it to the Skull crack because the mobility was insane and the combo of 100 blades and Final thrust is quite devastating. Not to mention he could actually root three people with flurry and they all have to eat the 100 blades.

His one complaint about it was that the opponents can still attack you while rooted as opposed to the stuns. But the escape-ability was so high there was no chance of ever losing a fight or getting caught by a zerg.

Yeah I really think that hammer is not dead.

Believe me… when I first read the notes I flipped the table. And after a few hours I calmed down and just said “EF IT” I will nerf myself and see how bad it is.

Now I feel like I wasted sooo much time not using leg specialist and leaned on that UF crutch. I will get another 80 power from the 25 point trait buff and people with perma vigor are getting nerfed and steathy hidey teleporty thieves are getting nerfed. I really feel like it will all work out and I am keeping my fingers crossed and my hopes high. Of course mesmers with perplexity runes and scepter torch will still rofl at me … but oh well what can you do?

I posted this video in my usual spot where I post all my videos, but with the way things are going and the mass amounts of sad feelings warriors are having I thought this might need it’s own thread.

With the upcoming nerfs to warrior I decided to nerf myself to prepare. I dropped Unsuspecting Foe and dropped Merciless Hammer to try to equal the 20% damage nerfs coming to hammer. This will actually nerf me more than what Anet is doing because it will nerf all three stun attacks and all my damage vs. a stunned foe by 25%.

What I have done is essentially nerf myself harder than Anet Will and no one else has received their new nerfs yet.

I have not been able to play much since the nerfs where announced but I really felt like warriors needed a pick me up. I hope this helps some of you guys feel a bit better.
