And this post is another example of how little the player base understands the creation of a major software title, and how fixing bugs takes time. It’s like some of you have never played an MMO before.
The complaints on forums of virtually every MMO after a major update pretty much look like this forum. Maybe there’s a reason for that.
Saying Anet doesn’t care because a bug hasn’t been fixed yet (when other issues have been dealt with) is just not on.
So people shouldn’t complain, then? I run my own business, and I LOVE it when people complain. It motivates me to do a better job and to provide a better service. But when one looks at the myriad of issues/bugs that have been present in this game for months (or even years now), with not even a simple acknowledgement on ANet’s part, it’s very easy to believe they just don’t care. The OP’s concern is a very real one.
They should complain about stuff that makes sense. The post you’ve quoted that he’s referring to did not. Anet doesn’t care because bugs? That’s utterly ridiculous.
I never intended to imply that the presence of bugs in the game means that ANet doesn’t care. As you state, that would be ridiculous. Every game has bugs. However, the fact that bugs and other issues persist in game, despite months or even years of people bringing them to ANet’s attention is highly suspect. Meanwhile, they direct their attention to other things and leave the bugs alone.
When ANet continually implements undocumented “hotfixes” to the game, (e.g. adjusting the terrain, which makes it harder to glide to the LastGear Standing HP), and yet ignores basic playability issues (e.g. Revenant stance issues), it makes me wonder. I’ve given just a couple of examples, but there are many in game.
Jumping puzzles are fine; some people love them, and enjoy them quite a bit.
It always bothers me, though, when they put something necessary for completion (Vistas, etc.) at the end of them. Even the diving goggles at the Not-So-Secret JP in Gendarran. I’d rather that all JP’s be completely optional, and not tied to any other completion goals.
I’ve been running around Magus Falls with a Condi Shortbow/Axe+Dagger Druid, and it’s about the most fun I’ve had in game since HoT went live. Survivability is awesome, and it positively melts fase.
I can’t comment on how that setup would do in other game modes, but for open world PVE, it’s awesome.
I don’t mind the spam during loading screens; I don’t find it offensive or immersion breaking, or anything.
However, the in-game UI, especially the upper right corner, is cluttered enough as it is. I wish they would give us the option to turn it off (all of it, not just the PVP spam, but the personal story, raid announcement, dailies, etc.). A few check boxes in the options menu would go a long way.
Furthermore, I agree with the above poster that ANet should immediately drop this whole pursuit, and focus on their MMO. It’s a shame that with the game in such a shambles, they’re diverting valuable resources to this e-sport nonsense. That’s just my opinion, but there you have it.

I have thought for some time that there should be a “library” in game for viewing dungeon cutscenes. My experience has been that most players skip the cutscenes so as to keep dungeon runs short, and players who want to watch them get pressure to skip them as well. There’s a lot of story and lore in those scenes that players miss out on if they skip them. Also, some of the stories would be good to go back and revisit, without forming another group and running the dungeon again.
I’m well aware that we can use LFG to form groups that don’t skip cutscenes, but those groups are typically slow to fill, especially if the dungeon in question is story mode. A lot of players just want to “get ’er done” and move on.
I imagine with the incoming changes to dungeon rewards, that it will only get tougher to access this content; it’s likely that fewer people will be running dungeon paths after HoT hits.
So, perhaps having an NPC or an Asura machine or a bookshelf full of tomes, or something — that can give us access to that content would be really cool. Maybe somewhere in LA, or perhaps having a “library” unit at the doorway to each dungeon?
I realize that isolated cutscenes, without the actual dungeon content will seem a little disjointed, but this would be better than nothing at all, IMO.
Thoughts?
Come on ascended is not hard to get, I’ve gotten ascended from dungeon drops, from pvp chest, from fractals. I’ve only nvr gotten it from world bosses because I don’t do any of them. They are practically thrown in your face! Why are people complaining about it! If you don’t even have 1 ascended piece you probably are new or haven’t been playing the game.
That’s nice for you. Some of us aren’t so lucky. I’ve never seen an ascended drop, and I’ll be surprised if I ever do. They’re just not that common for most of us.
Here’s the thing: before the game launched, Colin said every player should be able to gear up in top tier gear once they hit 80. No gear grind necessary. Awesome. Then they changed their minds, put in ascended, and locked it behind two things: a stupid, lengthy, expensive crafting grind; and an insanely low drop rate.
But they consoled us by saying ascended would only ever be needed for high level fractals. Until now. And they’re still locked behind a stupid, lengthy, expensive crafting grind and an insanely low drop rate.
Ascended should not be in the game. Period.
Like you gonna to play raids anyway. Never did fractals or bothered to get BiS in 2-3 years and then suddenly decided to be hardcore raid player.
So, the way you see it, a player who spends his or her game time in front of a crafting station is more qualified to raid than one who’s actually been playing the game? That makes no sense.
Arguably, a player who has mastered all the content in rare or even masterwork gear has had to learn to be a better player — since they’re not relying on better stats to carry them through.

Kasmeer’s bikini.
Faren’s speedo.
OP is a solution in search of a problem.
If you want to use gear that isn’t berserker, avoid berserker-only groups. Problem solved.

So give everyone a token they carry in their inventory that increases speed by 25%, and doesn’t work in WvW or PvP. Simple.
I find that I only play regularly on characters with a movement buff of some kind, whether it be traits on Engineer/Warrior or signets on Necro, Ele, Ranger and Thief. I find I rarely play my Guard and almost never play my Mesmer. For me, it’s part that I like the speed of getting where I’m going, but it’s also that the character’s movement looks better to me when faster. I regret that MMO’s find it necessary to make characters movement look so slow and plodding.
^ This.
Guardian and Mesmer are my favorite professions, but I rarely ever play them, simply due to the “slow as molasses” run speed. And yes, I know there are ways to get permanent or close to permanent run speed with Guardian and Mesmer, but you either have to give up a bunch of other useful skills, or use certain runesets, or use complicated skill combos to make it happen. All of that is a pain in the kitten, so I just play my Elementalist instead.
Give everyone 25% increase, without signets, and call it done.
