there is no grinding associated with the current ascended gears, only time sinks. and some of those trinkets can be acquired by different means… so i don’t know what you are talking about.
one think i could be against of is the costant time sinking, like the new weapons and armors, a full set will require a month and a half if you want one
There’s no grinding? So there’s no large amount of repeating the same trivial tasks over and over again to acquire bigger numbers? Any method of acquiring earrings currently is both a time sink and a grind.
My point is with the infusions and what not that the OCD folks that absolutely must spend forever already have enough to do. I don’t wish for more vertical progression.
Then again, I don’t see the difference between the two. I just see it as a unnecessary waste of time.
What are you doing to get your earrings? I have a full set of ascended trinkets and the only time I’ve spent specifically on getting them was walking to the laurel or commendation vendors and clicking buy.
I agree that having so much temp content, and so often, will ruin the game. Especially for casual players playing with other casual players. Every time new content is released, players want to rush to do it right away. With it having enough to do to keep busy, along with only being around for 2 weeks, it’s getting difficult to find groups for a lot of the permanent PvE stuff (and I’ve heard people thinking population on the servers has dropped because the zones are so empty now.)
Mouse losing focus -right click to turn not working [Merged]

Didn’t see any posts for this, so pardon if it’s a repost. For the past week, myself and at least one guild mate of mine have been having issues with holding down the right mouse button to move the camera. It keeps on losing it’s “held-down” state, but then suddenly decides that it’s still held down and considers it a right click. So for example, I could be running around with the button held down, moving the camera, then suddenly it registers as not being held down (while the mouse button is in fact still held down), so then my mouse cursor starts to move across the screen instead of the camera moving. Then before I can even notice this, it’ll re-register as being held down, and act as a click-to-hold, which means if the cursor moves over the party list while I’m trying to move the camera, it’ll open up the party menu, and on more then one ocassion has caused me to accidently kick a party member. This issue is making it very frustrating to play, and almost impossible to play WvW because I can’t move the camera fast enough (because half the time it says the mouse isn’t clicked when it is).
Edit: Not sure if related, but we are both using Logitech mice. I tried my touchpad and that didn’t have an issue with right click, but seeing as I didn’t have an issue with my mouse before, I’m wondering if maybe a recent patch introduced imperfect hardware compatibility with certain mice?

Hey guys. So, I know there’s probably a ton of posts like this on here, and I’ve tried to look up a ton of builds and stuff, so as a last resort I’d like to just ask a lot of people directly. I’m trying to get my elementalist built up with the right stats now. My goal would be to have a setup that works well in both WvW and PvE. I prefer to play more of a support than a heavy dps, and exclusively use staff.
As of right now, I have celestial stat trinkets, and clerics armor with full divinity. I’m really not sure if that’s a viable setup or not, so I could really use all the advice I can get. If I forgot any important information, which is very likely, please feel free to ask.
Thanks!
Yes, let’s hear another post about how legendaries need to be easier to get.
Um.. Couldn’t you just transmute the appearance again onto the new ascended weapon?
^ Invisible bags are very useful.
Example of the Ascalon Greatsword on a Norn and Asura…
why they have the grip in the belt?
^ This. Still an issue. Noticed the same thing on my Asuran Elementalist.
WvW is casual. You don’t have to go in and stay there for hours and hours on end. For all anyone cares, you can go in, jump into a battle for 10 minutes, and leave. Sounds pretty casual to me.
Two things people seem to be forgetting.
1. Exotics and rares appear in chests. Precursors are exotic. They will appear in a chest, not a bag.
2. Dolyak Supplies are considered a rare loot. They do not go to your inventory. So when you kill a dolyak and it drops a chest, your rare is the supplies.
Yes, it is a fairly useless mechanic. But it’s still a mechanic, which has WvW specific features. Meaning at least one of it’s uses is for in WvW. I think the fact that you can’t see all the players all over the map even in a squad would even hint that it’s not meant to be a largely scattered group of 50 players.
Aza, my post clearly points out one such system that you are requesting. However, my intention in mentioning it isn’t to bring to fact the features that it implements, but rather that ArenaNet decided to do things differently than Blizzard. Of course they made stuff stick to your immediate 5 person party – can you imagine all the stacked buffs going around if they made it so 50 people could stack buffs on all 49 other people in the area?
To everyone saying that they play for fun and not seriously – That’s all great. However, you have to consider whether WvW is actually built to be the way you want to play. If you want to play one way, and another server wants to play another way, you can’t just complain because they don’t play for the reason you’re playing. A little bit of unnoticed information, but WvW comes with server rankings, and a score. If you don’t want to care about that and just want to play for fun, that’s fine. But because it has some of those competitive features, people are going to play as so. If that means running in a 40 man group, then it means running in a 40 man group. But Sorrow’s Furnace is going to play in recognition that there is a points system, and a ladder. They’re not going to ignore that just because you don’t care that there is. WvW wasn’t built around showing off your individual skill. That’s what PvP is for. WvW is large scale combat, between full servers. So if you don’t like that, don’t complain about SF – they didn’t design it, they’re just playing it to spec.
News flash – WvW isn’t about showing how skilled you are by running as small of numbers as you can. It’s World vs World. If you want to prove yourself in a 5v5, there’s a feature in the game called sPvP for that. WvW is designed around large group fights.
That’s funny, because there is no raid mechanic. You can be in 5 man groups and boons/attacks are limited to 5 people. This would indicate that you’re not supposed to run around in 30 man zergs all the time.
I think you forgot about squads?
Squads are not a raid mechanic. They do not grant any type of benefit to large group organization. Have you ever played another MMO to compare this game to?
So please tell me, oh enlightened one, for what purpose were squads created? Just because they don’t function exactly the same way as WoW’s raid system, doesn’t mean they weren’t designed for large group activity.

Maybe SF doesn’t have good strategy. But as Pulse pointed out, that’s because of lack of necessity. Sure, someone suggested that SF can practice strategies more freely because of their dominance in WvW. However, if no tactics is winning, then surely good tactics executed under par wold win as well. There’s no reinforcement. If they are going to learn tactics, they need to actually fall when they execute them incorrectly, not just take a few more minutes to succeed.
Okay, let’s say part of SF moved to FC and ET long enough for SF to tier up. Then what? Every from SF moved back because they reached their goal of tiering up. Then the same problem occurs for whichever server is the new rank 22.
I’m not sure they can stand much worse. When I went into WvW yesterday they were at 40 and 0 points respectively per update.
So two of the biggest complaints I’ve seen here: troubles mapping WvW maps for world exploration, and SF having no challenge and being stuck in bottom tier because ET and FC are so low on points. Solution: Every week, a random server gets pitted against ET and FC. That way SF can actually fight matches that will get them points, and for one week a random server will get free reign over WvW for easy mapping.
