Considering how poorly fc has been treated in this linking being considered as dh is grossly offensive. If you want to keep it from getting confusing list the players server but color the text based on their team color. There is no reason they all have to be red names. It would take some adjusting to get used to but it would solve all these problems as far as what the enemies see.

As far as what the player sees just have all the text list their homeworld. Both servers know pretty quickly who their allies are. If I say help in fc bl even the server we are paired with is going to know that I’m talking about home bl. The names of borderlands for enemies can list both servers in equal sized text which would just lead to it being called blue or red bl

I am in the matchup “northern shiver peaks” is in right now and the reason this is happening is very simple. HoD lost guilds and 90% of the DH population transfered out. It has nothing to do with night capping. nevertheless we will all be losing our allies this time next week so things will change

Lol noob, if you think making fun of forum posters will get you anywhere you are sadly mistaken. If reasonable arguements that differ from your own make you angry you should redirect that salt to the battlefield, because clearly it is not productive anywhere else

This is getting out of hand. Not everyone likes the same bl. So what they do is put them in rotations so everyone is happy at least sometimes. Doesn’t matter if you don’t like the bl because gw is not about making YOU happy. Learn to compromise like an adult and stop crying you don’t get your way all the time

This is very true. they both get shiny things and all we get is one armor and weapon sets and a wvw tourney vender with no way to earn tickets

If we are talking about legendaries I still have to pve my butt off for them. Let me know when I can get a track for map completion

I have been a wvw player for years now and much like most I hated the desert bls the second they came out, but it is now clear that all our distain for them is because we all learned to play wvw on the alpine bls. People who joined and learned to play on desert bls hate the alpine just as much as we hate the desert ones.

The maps aren’t bad. Sure the terrain is confusing but so is every other map when you first play it. We say desert bls are too big and players who learned on desert say alpine a are too small. Desert has lots of cliffs but I know every last one of us fell to our deaths when we first started on alpine as well. The only legitimate complaint about desert bls that can’t be attributed to us learning on alpine is that the towers have no tactical value. The rest of our issues come from our stubborn butts not wanting give things a chance because it’s different than what we are used to.

Accept new things and the world will be a better place

I’m not trying to say it isn’t something worth achieving. But in wvw the people around you are already lost in a sea of names and titles. We all have things we are proud of. But if it gets in the way it shouldn’t be there. Honestly enemy server names shouldn’t be spelled out considering how long some of them are. It should just be fc or sos or tc exc. it is nearly impossible to count how many people you have of you aren’t in a squad and how many the enemy has when all the names are so long they run together. Gameplay is more important than looks

If you really want to show off in wvw be a good player and people notice. I don’t look at a persons rank and title and be like “wow he must be good.” Real wvw and pvp talent isn’t shown as some little symbol next to your name. You worked hard I know, but if you did all that work thinking the badge will earn respect you are sadly mistaken. If you are good at what you do people notice and respect you. Pvp and wvw to get good, not to have a little symbol that you think shows everyone else you’re good because it doesn’t. I’ve seen legendary ranked players lose to bronze invaders and I’ve seen gold ranked wvw players throw paper siege to defend.

If you want to impress people be a good player.

FC is not a pve server. We avoid the maps DH is on because you guys are toxic and intolerable

I don’t know many people who are happy with the way this link turned out, but I would be foolish if I didn’t acknowledge that it was an attempt to fix a problem I’ve heard people complaining about for years. I would rather go back to the way things were as well, but I know that many servers were struggling and I don’t feel that it is right to ignore that. The more reasonable 6 tiers fits the needs of all people much better than either option in my opinion.

Tier 4 right now is still quite high volume.

But as to the low population needing to be forced it is very unlikely. Until now people had the same option to transfer to low population servers. I don’t see a reason for that to change

I am a long time member of FC, and much like players from other smaller servers this merge has left a foul taste in my mouth in regards to what was once my favorite mode of GW2.

I Would prefer things to revert to how they were before this merge, but I don’t honestly expect that to happen, but I do have an idea that would be much more appealing to both sides of this argument.

Many people do prefer smaller servers, and making all servers into large servers is not ideal for them. At the same time some do wish they had more people, just not quite as many extra people as we were given.

There were once 8 Tiers in WvW, but Anet cut the number in half instead of just reducing it. I think if we were to have possibly 6 tiers instead of 4 it would make this much more comfortable and satisfactory for everyone involved. The extra two tiers leave room for servers who want a smaller population while still making a move to close the gap in populations between all the tiers. Not every tier would be high volume, but at the same time there will not be as many servers with an excessively low population.

This will not only solve the population problem, but it will also allow us to maintain the communities we value so much since we wont be completely overloaded with people. It will also minimize the difference in playstyles players from the smaller servers have to adjust to from this merger. Sending the smallest servers into tier one ruins what they enjoy about WvW completely instead of changing it for the better.

This will still mean servers would have to be combined, and if this happens both servers should have input into what they want their new server to be called so no one is left out.

I will be honest about my opinion of this server linking. I don’t deny that it is easier to find fights and start groups than it ever was before, but this comes at a bitter cost. In EB recently there was a person from the server we are linked with basically saying that the communities of smaller servers aren’t important and the people who are upset about this should just be quiet.

I will concede that this individual has the right to his/her own opinion, but it is one based on a lack of understanding many of the larger servers have of the cultures and communities that thrived in the smaller servers. The FC community was a big part of who we all are as players, and frankly anyone who disputes this has very little knowledge of this concept.

Many of the friendships born from the FC community became very long lasting, and several even developed into long term real life relationships. It is foolish to expect players from smaller communities that nurtured these kind of results to seamlessly merge with the larger servers that have a drastic different views about why we even play this game to begin with.

This being said, I cannot deny that the rise in population makes the gameplay more interesting, and Guild Wars at it’s core IS a game, but there are some minor changes to this system that would make it easier to accept what is going on.

It is obvious that the smaller servers are very attached to their identities as a server, and it is grossly offensive to be considered a +1 to some other server. If you really expect both servers to feel included in this system both servers should have a say into what this “merged” server is called, rather than having the smaller ones basically ignored.

When the merge first happened one of the guild leaders expressed that the ending result of all this was more players on DH. This upset a good number of us, and even now the game is divided between those who choose to see themselves on DH or the ones who see themselves on FC.

This whole problem is completely avoidable. Even a basic mash up between the server names would solve a lot of problems and make all of our lives a lot easier. Even if we do end up shifting to being paired with different servers for three months I’m fairly certain there are enough Arena Net employees with enough creativity to mix up pretty much any server combination into one name. Having players vote of different name options would be even better.

This may seem like a minor point, but out of all the issues this has caused I think this would be the easiest one to fix.

This time is very awful for the Eastern and Central North American time zones. I do agree that Friday would be a better day, but I would put the times the same as they used to be. If they changed the times the way anet is proposing, reset would not begin until 10pm my time, which is around the time most of my server actually goes to sleep. Myself, my guild, and all of my server strongly object to the changing of times like this. PLEASE don’t make reset later than it already is. PLEASE NO

Dark Jean, this thread has well established that most of DR doesn’t like you anymore than the “haters” from other servers. Take the hint and stop digging yourself deeper into this pit you spawned in the name of showing off the achievements of DR. DR is not a bad server deep down, but having you be a part of it is more of a fault than a benefit.

I don’t believe you know the definition of “crying.” You came “crying” to FC that DR wasn’t a good server and tried to transfer all of KYRO here TWICE. Then you left again “crying” that we were all mean to you. And right now you are “crying” that we wouldn’t duel you even though we just gave you a place and a time. The only thing that would make me “cry” involving you is if I was forced to play on the same server . When you stop “crying” about how other players trashed your bragging post about being diamond and decide to actually fight, you know where to find us.

How about this my dear Dark Jean. At 8pm Central Time you come into PvP and I’ll let you into our personal PvP arena. Within that arena you can fight various guild leaders of FC. Does that meet your standards of being equal or is there some other qualification you have as well?

OMG I KNOW RIGHT. How dare people call me out on my inconsistencies and lack of respect for the people I play with? Don’t they all know I’m too awesome to be brought down by logic and reasonable questions by both my server and servers I play against. They are all totally STOKED that I’m diamond ranked and don’t care that I back down from challenges because they TOTALLY know I would win against anyone I fight. They are all just haters and cry all day because they can’t accept that I am WAY more awesome than they are. I KNOW RIGHT? I said that all along :O

If you are going to try to use how good you are to recruit people to your dying server you should be willing and able to accept challenges from a server you consider to be inferior. Tis not I who cries today my dear Dark Jean. It is your server that cries at how you just sacrificed their dignity to try to stroke your own ego. My apologies DR. You have been represented poorly today. May future posts from your members repair the damage Dark Jean has done.

How about Dark Jean brings Dark Jean’s character to fight in PvP like Dark Jean wishes, because clearly Dark Jean does not care enough about WvW to upgrade Dark Jean’s armor to take part in real fighting in WvW. This must be why Dark Jean hides behind Dark Jean’s zergs when fighting in WvW. What other reason could Dark Jean have?

If you would like to test yourself 1v1 against the leaders of the FC WvW guilds feel free to my dear. But you have refused this request in the past. In the mean time you should attend the English class of your local Elementary School to pick up a few tips.

FC has been fighting DR for a number of weeks now, and I can honestly say that GiT and AXME are much more respectable opponents than KYRO. Dark Jean has personally told me “she” is able to take us on 15 to 50, and it has since turned into quite the running joke on FC. The very night she mentioned this ridiculous statistic we held our weekly server event where we all get on WvW and run in a themed zerg depending on the week. So indeed this one night there were 50 of us, all on Necros and Mesmers I believe. We took much joy in making her rage quit into LA when she was trying to fight 50 FC members (most on uplevels and unfamiliar toons) with her zerg of about 20-25. 15 to 50 Indeed Dark Jean!

TMW we on FC wish you luck in finding a less toxic and pretentious server with more to offer than DR. As to the other WvW guilds in DR, I am sorry you have to tolerate a fellow WvW guild leader with such low respect for you and what you do. Just know that all other servers see Dark Jean for what “she” is and don’t hold it against the rest of you.

DRK is amazing. The sense of community this guild has is unlike any I’ve ever seen. All of us became pretty good friends just by being in the guild and I can honestly say there isn’t a single person in it who I don’t like.

Everyone is really nice and we have a lot of good players and commanders. I wouldn’t leave this guild for anything.
