Sea of Sorrows did much better than I expected. For some reason they are fighting more than they did over the past month. I would love some insight to what changed there.
Thanks for noticing, but honestly I can’t say why, as I am on GoM and just started working with SoS since the server link. Perhaps just the return of WvW players with the recent changes, as seen elsewhere.
played map for 5 minutes. realized i played this same map for years and left because the k-trainers are already out k-training empty objectives
Apparently you haven’t been playing on the DBLs since the server merges…same thing there, too, due to so much overflow from EBG and the gimmicky terrain of the DBL making it safer to have larger numbers.
Oh yeah and smaller map size. Did I say Blobs?
The DBLs were already turning into a blob-fest, because running solo or in a small group was suicide when going around all the blind spots on the map and running into enemy zergs. If the BLs had the same size as the DBL but without all the maze-like chokepoints, that would allow smaller groups more avenues of escape and less chance of being surprised.
It seems roaming would still work with the servers linked on the BLs if they were more open…seems like the Desert BL map still has way too many chokepoints and blind spots that force roamers and zergs to come into contact more often, often by surprise, which isn’t fun for the roamers. I haven’t had the opportunity to play on the ABL yet since I started just before HoT came out and didn’t get into WvW until the DBLs were in effect.
Didn’t they bring back earning points on enemy kills? WvW is war, and I play it as such…every point counts for my side. They gank me, I gank them, there’s no holding back. Duelers often assist with scouting and such for larger zergs, so taking them out helps our side by minimizing as much of the enemy’s intel as possible.
I would predict that your predictions are not factoring in the increased bottleneck in the queue for EBG, and over the weekend at least the queue for the home BL. For example, HoD/Ebay are definitely going to have a higher glicko score after this round, but they are still losing to the other two server combos that your chart lists as ranking below HoD/Ebay, one of which is SoS/GoM, which you have as dead last? I play on GoM, and I haven’t bothered trying to get into EBG due to the queue that never existed before. So I think the dynamics of the queues and increased populations will end up working differently than the mere sum of their parts.
Kinda reminds me of a husband and wife that both bring home a decent salary until the government takes a larger cut of their taxes (the marriage penalty) than if they had remained single.
I agree with some of the points that have been already made…still too much verticality and too many choke points, which makes it hard to join up with an attack or defense in progress on the other side of the map. Also, as stated, the objectives hold no value, as unlike towers and keeps in EBG, you can’t set up siege in them to reach out and hit anything else of importance. I like the visual aspects of the DBL maps, but the practical design leaves much to be desired.
Take away that, and you’ll see WvW turn into a giant pve ktrain. Which will empty the next time a big update/shiny is announced.
On low-pop/low-tier servers with these huge maps, we’re already there…PVE k-trains, because we hardly see an enemy to attack most of the time, or they are all the way across the map or moved to different maps by the time we get there.
Yes, yes there is.
It was called the New Game Enhancement.
Yes. That was a good read. Thank you
And SOE is no more, having been bought out by an investment company and morphed into Daybreak, and most of the key people at SOE sacked…
Still trying to figure out how the OP’s suggestion of moving to a more populated server if you don’t enjoy the WvW experience (or lack thereof) on your own server is any different than having a Megaserver…if everyone who wants to play WvW zergs to one of the 3 T1 servers, don’t we just end up with a WvW Megaserver anyway?
If our guild had been large enough to even claim a hall, we would have chosen Gilded Hollow, too.
WoW used Telia, and it created problems there, too. Telia is based in Sweden, so they are probably the go-to to provide cheap service to for-profit companies, and of course, you get what you pay for.
Seeing bad lag tonight, too, and one disconnect, probably due to those lost packets.
