If they follow the same pattern with HoT hero points and elite specs, I’m wondering if the new PoF elites will cost significantly more than the HoT ones, meaning most people aren’t likely to be able to get the new elites on day 1 unless they go after the new hero points in PoF. Our core specs cost 60 hero points to master, the HoT elite was 250 points, but at least the HoT hero points were earned 10 at a time. Perhaps the PoF elites will cost 1000 hero points to master, but the PoF currency and/or hero points will generate 40 points each. I have about 1k proofs saved up, so that might generate elites for 4 characters, or it might give me the elite for only 1 character. I couldn’t tell on the stress tests how much the new elite spec will cost to master as it had already been fully mastered on the demo characters.

Actually George Orwell is one of my favorite authors. Unfortunately, with regards to this conversation it’s simply a matter of differing perspective. It’s as old as the world.

True…we are not on the same farm, and from my perspective, I’d rather be on a farm with 100 acres for 10 horses than one with 100 horses on 10 acres.

Server linking is not only fair it’s the last ditch effort to give everyone a chance to win. But hey breaking up our community is fair right? Laughable!

While I agree linking was necessary from a population standpoint, the communities of non-host servers have declined significantly as the host server gets all the credit. The only identity we really have is within our own guilds, for which it has been harder to find recruits with no name recognition in WvW and with Lion’s Arch being a mega-server mixup. Why should BG’s community be immune in the name of balance when most of the other communities have not? Do you need to go back and read Animal Farm? All servers are equal, but some are more equal than others…

I wish we knew! I’m hanging onto Proofs of Heroics and unopened Skirmish Chests just in case.

They have said they are releasing a new currency to use in WvW for the PoF elite spec’s.

Yes, but they also said you can still use Proof of Heroics to buy things…it’s very confusing. It may not be an issue, but I think right before PoF comes out, I’m going to convert my Proofs into Heroic scrolls and get my characters Hero Points ready to use for the new specs. It wouldn’t be any different than PvE players that have run around all the maps and gathered excess Hero Points for the expansion. Question is, will it be the same cost as the HoT elite specs, or will it be significantly more so that any possible Hero Point excess will not be enough to get the new elites on day 1?

what if legend swap cd was reduced to 8 sec. it will allow you to regen faster 50% nrg and most rev utilities are with no or very low cd.

Still bad design.

If I am playing Support, I shouldn’t need to switch to dwarf or some other non centuar legend just for sake of energy, when that legend plays no role in my group role.

only good thing about legendary is, is the stat switching for the rest its all trash but i dont mind dumping my ascended stuff in mystic forge to switch stats if meta change.

Be nice if we could swap back piece stats in the forge too, so that’s why a legendary one is so useful.

K, I’ve seen a lot of responses like this. I don’t know where it’s coming from. This mentality didn’t play beta weekend, didn’t watch the mutiple videos of a scourge heavy gorup, and haven’t looked at the spec.

A scourge group want’s to be in melee range. The shades benefit allies and hurt enemies.

It might be a back-and-forth feeling out of which group has the most scourges, and the group that figures out they do not have enough will stay at range. Might see groups that know they don’t have a scourge turn tail and run. We’ll see…fun to speculate but we won’t really know until it has been out long enough for strategies to fully develop and how the synergy of new elites will work in WvW.

In Pve revs need to understand and accept that if they’re not spamming their energy they’re losing damage (same with thief and initiative).

Thief has plenty of utilities with the proper traits selected that instantly gain back initiative to keep dishing out damage…what does Rev have besides weapon swap to regain energy, other than time itself? Also, none of the thief’s utilities or F-skills cost initiative, just weapon skills minus the auto-attack, so there are only 4 slots at any time that actually cost initiative. The same no-initiative-cost utilities also allow the thief to get out of harm’s way if they do need to reset their initiative bar, where Rev has no significant distance-producing skills and the few leaps they do have cost energy.

You forgot to mention that in the situation where rev did actually get away and go ooc, if he was above 50 energy he will instantly loose all that saved up energy even if it was only ooc for 1/2 a second.

Server links would need to be permanent for tiers and/or populations to not change significantly…but they aren’t, and bandwagons happen, so 1 up 1 down helps move those servers to where they need to be faster…do you really want Mag trolling T2/T3 for weeks on end with how slow Glicko moves them up? Since they have a link this rotation, they are running fat…I’ve seen their late-night 4-map queues and fought against their numbers on DB, where we only had 1 map queue. It’s not perfect, but it’s the only answer we have right now to move servers where they need to be after Anet has mixed up the links in response to population changes.

Being on a non-host server that floats around between other host servers, I’d say most have a TS channel and have generally welcomed pugs to get on comms. And yes, some guilds will occasionally run closed TS for practice and/or guild missions. Best bet is to find a guild of your own that matches the type of play you are interested in.

If you really want to get technical, there isn’t gender equality because they made Kalla and her warband exterior killable/fearable manifestations as opposed to the other spirits that operate as an integral part of us and guide our movements. I’d have preferred a new spirit to have manifested internally the same as the others, otherwise I’d have rolled a pre-PoF ranger…

Even running Water, Tempests in WvW also have to run Trooper runes and run mostly tempest shout utilities to get the condi clear proc from the runes. If we’re lucky, all of the above just might clear half the condis applied by an enemy group, so it takes 4 seconds to die instead of 2…

Considering I was clowning all the new specs besides Scourge with Renegade during the beta weekend, even against top tier players, makes me think you’re wrong about this…perhaps you need to git gud?

And considering you can’t see how Renegade will be fantastic in pve makes me wonder how much time you’ve actually spent theorycrafting with the class.

When other classes can AOE their utilities or heals on the run and they’ve made Renegade utility skills to be high energy cost ground-targeted static fields where the summoned spirit can be killed/feared, even the heal and the elite skill, then yes, I would predict Renegade will have a harder time being useful, especially in PvP and WvW situations, compared to other classes/elites.

Thief or Rev for PoF?

I’d go with the rev for a simple reason. You will do much more solo / small stuff on thief where bags will fill out a lot slower, whereas much more group stuff on rev, where bags will fill out much faster. Therefore it makes more sense to add more bagspace on the rev.

That’s a good perspective to take…it’s what I did based on whether it was a roaming class or a zerg class. He’ll probably still be running a Herald Rev, though.

From what I saw, Renegade will be less useful in zergs than the older Herald spec. The Renegade’s utility skills are static fields with a 3/4 second cast time (not useful in a running zerg fight), killable (not useful in the current AOE skill bomb meta), and CC/fearable (again, too many CCs in zerg fights these days). Plus the new utility, elite and F-key skills come at a high energy cost, 20-40 energy per shot, with the elite skill having an initial cost of 10 plus 9/second upkeep while the skill is active. The heal skill is only 10 energy, but it suffers from the same mechanics as the others. Quite a few feel the Renegade will be the least useful PoF spec for WvW due to the energy drain and weak static utilities. Why they went from having the Rev’s spirits work inside them, where they move in unison, to having killable/CC’able/static physical manifestations is beyond me…

Are you kidding? As an unlinked FA player playing against SoS /w IoJ and a triple DB link I’m having a great time. The fights never stop and thanks to the consistent outnumbered buff I’m averaging 10.6 pips/tick so far this matchup. Most of which I’ve spent in EBG.

Now we can chill in T2 without having to worry about going up and getting rolled over by literal map queues in every timezone every other week.

Relinks just happened, need a couple weeks to move servers to their rightful spots, nothing new here. Do you think this is suppose to happen instantly as soon as the servers reset?

Ideally, all server links would be balanced so all have a chance to compete in any tier…yeah, I know, pipe dream…

For example, my guild on GoM has a well respected commander and we have even recruited players to our guild from the other linked servers. If the links change frequently, we end up with our members scattered to the winds or having to pay for transfers. We also have lost some continuity with our group composition and expertise. It essentially makes it harder to retain members and “git gud” with the lack of stability and the lack of server recognition, as the host gets all the credit.

You do realize that your server, GOM, is a link server? So, the reasons things are changing around you is because of the 2 month re-link. If you recruit players from the host you are linked with, and they choose not to transfer onto GOM, they will be separated from your guild at relink time. This is an issue with player choice or commitment to your guild, unless your server is locked down for transfers, and that is preventing them from transferring. As of this moment, GOM is still open for transfers.

As for the host server getting the recognition. I do see that point. However, most regular WvW players fully grasp that the Host server with link(s) in no way deserves all the credit for the win or the loss in any current pairing. So, focusing on your guild and your guild’s performance probably makes the most sense, as we now have very little control over our server, server links, server reputation, server population, etc., so no sense to stress over these things.

Yes, we are a linked server rather than a host, which is why we don’t have the stability that will allow us to grow a healthy guild when some of those we attract are from one of the other linked servers, unless they can afford to transfer. We also enjoyed our last link and had some good coordination between guilds and servers. This link, not so much…

Many of us on linked servers are looking for a little variety – as having a truly, balanced matchup appears to be out of reach for WvW at the moment. Variety of allies and opponents seems the only thing remaining to keep WvW a little more interesting.

First I think you’d need to do a poll on whether those of us on linked servers truly want variety before you make the claim that “many” in fact do.

Second, while you might get some variety being linked with a new host, you’re still stuck with those on your own server unless you pay to transfer off. If you pay to transfer off, then that pretty much shows an unwillingness to work with what you have, as the grass is always greener on the other side.

And no one is scared. Just think of a not lazy solution to your problem. This solution is on par with people asking for ranger pet to be removed because they don’t like it.

Hate to point it out to you, but in the next expansion’s elite specializations, Anet is in fact allowing ranger pets to be removed from play by being inside them in spirit…so there goes your analogy…

Dazed but have stability?

Now that the OP mentioned it, there could be a bug.

Last weekend I noticed this as well several times, though not particular to daze, I did not see daze icon, I had stab on and it was not stripped, the icon was still there, yet my toon felt as if it was stunned. Basically rooted in place and unable to use any abilities / skills, while I still had stab on.

Its entirely possible that there were some “under the hood” changes made to base mechanics in part of preperations for the expansion and how stab interacts with new incoming skills / abilities and stuff may not work properly. There could be several bugs at play seperate or even together:

1. Perhaps the stab icon is bugged and does not disappear like its supposed to when stripped.
2. Server lag or server not properly receiving / registering stab vs some skills or under ceirtain conditions, you still have stab client side but not server side, server side overrides client side.
3. CC abilities bugged. Stab will not work under ceirtain conditions vs CC abilities as its supposed to due to new changes, or lack thereof.

etc. etc. There could be many things affecting this and happening. Bummer I didn’t think of it sooner, I’d have checked my log and taken some screenies of it but was too excited to play new specs and dismissed it as weird stuff due to server lag.

They still have the issue of objectives not changing color on the map after they’ve been taken, or the RI timer being incorrect on the map vs. on the lord/supervisor…there seems to be a trend here and it has me worried for when the expansion actually rolls out.

And seriously, GW2 isn’t a game stranger to damage spikes and to counter that professions have resistance, cleanses, blocks, immunes, evades and mobility and now even barriers.

Is this the first time that WvWers have to fight zerg’s condi pressuse?

It’s the first time having a lot of pre-stacked boons worked against a WvW zerg, as they ended up being corrupted. With more stacks of condis added on top of the usual ones, they can’t all be cleared in time, and barriers, which scourges also have, only delay the effects a bit. Not complaining…just pointing out a mechanic that might require zergs to adjust by either bringing their own scourges, having more of the classes with resistance and cleanses, going boonless if they see scourges on the other side, or staying at range.

Most of the condis coming with other PoF elites are going to be of the poison, burn, torment kind, right? So this trait doesn’t appear to help us survive that well on our own. Condis are on the upswing in WvW currently, too.

Before we as for nerfs, we need to ask a few questions
Do we have any blocks ?
Do we have any evades?
Do we have any imunites?
Do we have any steath ?
Do we have any reflects ?

No we dont, thats why its easy to lock a necro, hes just going to absorve the damage.
Any other class have a few skills, that they know they are ok for a few seconds , waiting for a heal or just for desingage, thats huge.
Now we even lost our " 2nd hp bar"
If u are dead u cant do any damage, and its super easy to just target a necro, we are ment to be an atrition class right?, well i dont feel that way, what i feel is that every one just focus necro, cause its too easy to lock him.
Necro is the only class that cant play zerk amulet, because we have no way to negate damage, we need constant peeling if we use a zerk amulet.

So ,no i dont agree in nerfing dps from necros, i even think they should buff barriers, cause 1 or 2 secs its not so great when we are beeing focused.

None of this is an issue in WvW, though, where over the weekend we saw zergs running multiple Scourges that added significantly to their strength with boon corrupts, barriers and condi removal. We only had one scourge on our side and ended up melting to all the incoming condis. If nothing changes with Scourge before it goes live, it will be a mandatory trait line for WvW zergs and zerg busting.

Pips do not add prestige, the new armor does not add prestige either, you ONLY need 2k rank, that’s not even high rank in my book, I was talking about something for Mithril rank up, that’s high rank.

Considering only a small fraction of GW2 players are in WvW, and then only a small fraction of that number is Mithril or higher, you’re asking Anet to do something for a very small crowd, which makes it very unlikely to happen.

Deadeye stolen skills are already different than Thief stolen skills. We’ve only seen one (two? afaik) of Deadeye’s so there’s not a lot of speculation you can make.

Silent Scope just transforms the Kneel skill into Sniper’s Cover. We haven’t seen Kneel itself so there’s no information, but you’ll be immobile either way.

So you are saying the dead eye gets a completely different steal table?

Yes, it’s already known that the steal table is different for deadeye. What they steal is still up in the air however.

Hmm…after reading that post, though, they specifically got rid of the ability for people to use stockpiled vials of liquid experience and required them to start grinding for the new proof of heroics in WvW so the Hero Points would be earned at the same time or rate as people in PvE were earning them. There is the potential that they could require a new currency in both PvE and WvW to start the PoF hero point grind all over, just like they did for HoT, and not let stockpiled Proof of Heroics or even Hero Points be used for the new specializations. Hope I’m wrong, though…

For a WvW healbot ele, I just don’t see that Weaver is going to improve upon that role, as most Weaver traits and skills are more offensive as well as self-defense/self-healing, and the heals that it does bring to the table are more directional rather than field based, which makes it harder to heal the zerg. Sounds like a great specialization for making ele more independent for WvW roaming, PvP or PvE, though.

Roaming in wvw in 2017?

Yes, because on my server, there aren’t tags 24/7, and when there are tags, they are usually just on 2 out of the 4 maps, so we roam and make the best of it. You should try it…it’s very skill based.

No it isn’t. You can’t possibly know without having an account on all servers.

My thought as well…absolute statements can’t always be proven absolutely. He must not be on my server as my guild leader frequently drives open pug groups and only about half end up in TS, but the rest are not booted from squad.
