Hmm. Skyhammer is my favourite map.
But I can see how it is “unfair” without Build Templates.

My Norn female warrior underwent a few changes, featuring a more aggressive play style. Story-wise, she found and began to wield an axe which belonged to a champion of Jormag and the weapon’s influence ended corrupting her.
So now she wears armor and colours inspired to Icebrood corruption, somewhat reminiscent to Sons of Svanir armor.
I made it so that the corruption coming from her axe appears as it has spreaded to her whole right arm, while the left arm still lies uncorrupted.

Nice Idea. I really like it!

Daily activity rotation

Possible solution:

- Keep the Daily activity rotation and the NPCs in LionsArc.
- Allow Players to play the Activities whenever they like, if they walk to a “local” NPC -
this do not yiel (all of) the Archievement Points.

To me none of the LV felt like it truly impacted the WORLD. Sure zones got changed, but the world stayed the same. Just look at the current LV there is a huge tower in the middle of a lake, but the humans and centaurs still have their petty land disputes..

So how would you try and solve this? And a second question is how far would you like to see the impact of say a tower in Kessex be felt content wise? The balance here is of course total volume of work for those involved, to literally have the entire world react to what’s going on would take us 6+ months to build, which at that point isn’t actually meeting our goals of a regularly changing and evolving world.

[…]

Imagine how much more immersive the updates would feel if we get a single simple dialogue in Claypool about the giant tower seen in the distance to the south? Or how the air feels tainted? Imagine what it’d be like if the Champion Ancient Rotting Oakheart which is so close to one of the offshoot events is given a new model with new lines from an NPC talking about the Toxic Alliance’s spoors altering it? Or if we had Toxic Courtiers trying to negotiate with the Nightmare Court in Joy’s End or with the Sinister Triad? What if we could get idle dialogue between krait and NC – or krait and krait or NC and NC – about this alliance and why it was formed and what they think of it?

If this is too much, at least disable the most Immersion-Breaking Events and add some dialogue options for NPCs living directly next to the zone (i.e. Fort Salma).

Yeah .. lets make the whole Game like Southsun Cove .. that will of course be good for the game since everyone likes to play there.

Southsun is the best example that ANet should NOT listen to the “make it harder” fraction.

No, its a good example that hard Content should yield interesting rewards (and have interesting mechanics). As long as ChampionFarming is far more efficient then anything on Southshore, people will tend to prefer it.

I actually want Champions to yield good rewards.
I just don`t like, how efficient ChampTrains / failing Events is…
So i would prefer different SpawnTimes and better rewards for Events over nerfing the Loot.

My Main Problem with the LivingStory is pretty simple:

Most LS-Updates are not improving and expanding the Heart of the original Game (Maps & Dungeons, Renown Hearts, Events, Exploration).
They are all Archievement-Driven and strongly focused on farming/grinding.

There is no sense of Exploration or Freedom anymore – just a ToDo-List asking you to do very specific things (“Close 5 Doors today…”)

What i Loved about original GW2 was, that you could just dive in and explore.
When a place looks interesting, I could just go there, automatically got the right tasks (=Hearts) and stuff happened (=Events)

Furthermore with Hearts you could always combine a variety of tasks.
You were never asked to kill exactly 45 Bandits or play a mini-Game exactly 25 Times or to complete this specific Event…

Now when a new patch hits, the first thing is we open the achievement panel to see the latest “to-do” list. More often then not, the Archievements do not really explain anything, so we use a Guide out of the Internet.

  1. All Archivements request very very specific Actions (“complete exactly this Event”, “find 9 Dragon claws..”)
  2. there is a Archievement for every little Detail you could find in the new patch (even for watching a fire-breathing Quaggan).
  3. and, of course, most of it is just Grinding.

LS-Archievements should have the advantages of Renown Hearts
- at least as long as they are the Core of the reward system.

Mastermind Scarlet seems to randomly attack “here and there”, without any Rythmn, Strategy or plausible Tactics. And she has lost every single Battle.
After all we have seen: Why would anyone ally with her? She is obvously the worst commander in history. : P

On Scarlet and the chained living story:
WoodenPotatos enlightened me and made me see how amazing the living story really is.
I’ll take the Harry Potter example. There is a bunch of hints and stuff during the first books that you usually overlook until that part of the plot that BAM it all comes into place as part of a huge scheme. THAT’s what happening with Scarlet. IT’S NOT A BUNCH OF RANDOM EVENTS, there’s an AMAZING background not revealed yet that’s tying them.
Without further anticipation, here’s your answer to the whole Scarlet living story plot:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiMFEqz3GQ4
Guaranteed mind blowing.
[…]

So yeah, I had a negative opinion about how the living story was going, but I decided not to speak up about it until actually taking my time to think. And it was worth it.

I always gets me down when FanFiction/Speculation ends up being far more satisfying then the original story…
I hope that there is more behind Scarlet (or at least a great Idea for the next years LS).

I don't mind grind/slow crafting but...

I HATE crafting and I HATE gathering. These are chores; not intense game play.

I do not get what is soo bad about Crafting….
Okey, Gathering might not be for everyone
(…but you can still buy the stuff from the AuctionHouse).

But the most “difficult” Task is getting all the other Materials – and there are already soo many possibilities to get them. Unless of course you want to be as Efficient as possible.

How is time gating fun?

TamTiTam.9574

But now we move it over to Crafting account bound items. Hoo boy.

Crafting to me feels like a desk job, it seems tacked on and really archaic. Now it’s required to obtain the best-in-slot equipment (which goes against their original concept of earning max gear , may I add).

If you are trying to optain ascended Weapons via Crafting, you spent about 99% of getting the Materials. You can get those in many many maany Ways -> I do not see how it goes against their original concept of earning max gear.

Making Ascended-Items AccountBound prohibits that it just boils down to Black Lion Trading Company and Gold Selling.

I do not like the Time-Gating, though.

Why does every single Part of GuildWars2 have to revolve around mindless farming?
I would like Tequatl to be a Raidlike Encounter, a challenge for organized Guilds.

It might be a little too hard, but -please- do not nerf it to the ground…
People will try as long as the fight is fun and/or there is nice loot.

So….. we complained that champs weren’t rewarding enough. So they changed them to have better loot….

Now….people are only farming the champs…..and they should be nerfed to stop it?

Kittened if they do, kittened if they don’t…..

Yes. Champions should be more rewarding!
I do NOT want ArenaNet to “nerf Champions”.

They should just nerf the Choo Choo ChampTrains.

Champ Trains, T6 mats, why it doesn't matter.

TamTiTam.9574

You are funny.
IF the Developers ever want to “add in a way to easily obtain t6 mats” they can just increase the drop rate of t6 mats everywhere in the world. Done.

Inserting the ChampTrains into the Game in order to enable players to level crafting to 500 (with the prepatch recepies?) might be the worst Game Design Idea ever.
I am really sure this is not working as intended.

I still really hope that the Champion Loot Bags are here to stay.
Killing one of those kittens in a small Group without any special reward has always been a letdown.

One darn fine day after the respawn timer is changed, some ingenious commanders might go around the entire Tyria map leading a guild zerg to do all the champs.
This can’t be the solution either. DEs has to be more rewarding.

I actually do think that changing the the respawn timer will help a lot.
If a Champion spawns ~three minutes later (and “Random”), “normal” players will hardly recognize it, but the 24/7 FarmingSpot is ruined.

Porting around the entire Tyria map is far less efficient then just running the circle in Frostgorge Sound and will never be that much of a mass phenomenona.

DEs has to be more rewarding.

+ Hearts can do a lot of story telling.
Guild Wars 2 could definitely combine a few (great) “classical” Quests with the Heart-mechanism, but there are many reasons to “stick with the hearts”.

Some nonsense design principals

TamTiTam.9574

So why on god sake stick with the Hearts?! Because they are different?!

Why are hearts better than standard quests?

Variety of options. You’re trying to earn someone’s trust, affection, esteem, whatever. There’s no reason why you should need to bring them exactly ten wolf pelts. Renown Hearts recognize general “assistance” acts (e.g. defending the local area from hostiles, healing injured people nearby) in addition to the explicitly-stated objectives (e.g. rounding up Moas). The explicit objectives often include several alternatives, just in case players have difficulty with a particular task (or find it boring). It’s often possible to make progress on a Renown Heart while participating in Dynamic Events nearby.

Since heart completion rewards are automatically mailed to the player, there’s no need to backtrack. Players can explore the map and focus on new/undiscovered content. Players who choose to visit the Heart vendors will occasionally find useful (or amusing) consumables, but won’t gain a huge advantage over those who do not.

[+ Since Hearts appear automatically, you do not have to follow a Quest-Route. You do not need to "have the Quest for the Cave" , in Order to explore the cave. In your beloved WoW f.e., there was no motivation to explore at all. It just got you to the wrong place without “having the Quest”, forcing you to walk all the way back to the Quest-Route. ]

Many of the hearts help to relieve monotony by introducing brief mini-games, special environmental weapons, or transformations. I guess that this isn’t really a unique feature; it could be provided by standard quests as well.

GW2 needs a better Looking-For-Group-System

in Suggestions

There are many people who would like to visit the (old) dungeons, but do not (want to) have the time to wait hours in order to find a group.

for( i = 0; i < 100000; i++)
printf(“lfg AC explo”);

GW2 sorely needs LFG-System!
I am NOT talking about a tool that automatically groups you up and summons you to the dungeon.

I am talking about an useful and popular LFG system, that helps you to get to know more players, and then join a guild or two with those you enjoy playing with.
An LFG-Tool, that:

- is NOT TUCKED AWAY inside the contact menu (=most players don`t even know about the LFG-Tool)
-lets players add a short comment so others know what they are LFG for
(- cross map?)
