CTS surgery is pretty much out-patient these days and will cure you.

As a chiropractor, who has treated countless of people who had failed CTS surgery, that is a VERY ignorant statement.

If they reduced the amount of ground targeting skills, the game would be much more controller friendly and could even then be ported over to consoles someday. It will take some skill out of combat though.

will there be a patch tomorrow?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

The Revenant.4970

They’ll never tell us.

But I will infer that we will have a patch tomorrow

Why?

Well the remaining blogposts are pushed to April 2- April 4.

How come they don’t put out the first blogpost on April 1?

Because they plan on releasing a patch tomorrow. They don’t want to mix up the patches and would rather extend the hype machine as long as possible.

When they don’t inform you about future patches, they are ‘ignoring’ you and ‘hiding in the shadows’. When they do inform you about future patches, it’s a ‘hype machine’.

You people are kinda unbearable.

I like how stacking and DPSing is cheesy, kiting is cheesy, but one character standing still tanking a monster while everyone else DPSs and healer spam heals tank isn’t cheesy, it’s amazing trinity-rich gameplay…

It’s all cheesy guys. All of it.

i agree that trinity is cheesy. I find it amusing that people who love trinity are talking about stacking, when trinity games basically are often about everyone standing in a specific spot for most the fight, and only moving for obvious are you at the keyboard tells, for many encounters.

to make it clear, i dont think stacking is cheesy as a short term tactic, i think that stacking in a corner for the entire fight and only considering optimal DPS is cheesy
I think you should be encouraged to stack at times in some fights.

I think kiting is cheesy when its actually cheesy, not when you have to actively and carefully manage the boss and deal with him trying to screw over your kiting.

I am not making any sweeping statements, like there should never be kiting, and never be stacking. Im saying that the whole fight shouldnt be made comparitively easy, by using comparitively easy tactics.

If this was a fighting game, i would say you shouldnt be able to be the whole game by doing foot sweeps, or throwing projectiles, not that foot sweeps and projectiles should not exist or work.

Trinity or not, there’s always stacking. It’s the most efficient way for people to be healed. There’s A LOT of fights in GW2 that can be very dynamic and interesting. People, however, always take the easiest paths. This is why you see the same tactics in all MMOs across the board. At least GW2 has the dodge mechanic to spruce things up dramatically.
You’ll always have that kitten who does nothing but foot sweeps. In fact, the majority of people are that kitten.

The Revenant.4970

There’s no such thing as an ‘investment’ when you buy electronic items in a virtual world.

The game could go down tomorrow and everyone’s digital barbie doll skins would be rendered useless.

That’s why it’s important to understand the difference between physical money (dollar bills) being used to buy physical goods and services vs using electronic money (credit card) to buy electronic, nonphysical items.

I don’t think people understand the value of money these days because they rarely hold actual money. If they did, they would be ‘investing’ it in other things if they are expecting an actual return. Think of the money that you’ve given ANet as ‘support’ for making you a product that you enjoy, however you shouldn’t ever be considering it an investment.

All GW2 offers is ultra casual brain dead PvE “gameplay” experience, shopping at the gem shop and cosplaying with your friends in hub cities.

Why is it brain dead though? Your not realty explaining it at all your just trying to relate skins to skills of play and game play and they have nothing to do with each other.

Of course….that’s what makes the frequent (albeit smaller than an expansion) patches great. Different things for different tastes.

There has been only one update for my taste while you got a new update each 2 weeks which catered your taste.
FYI I didn’t play Tower, I didn’t play invasion, I didn’t play Marionette, SAB.

I’ve been playing FOTM since the 2012 November.
How long would you play your LA invasion or Tower or whatever if it was permanent? A day? A week? Certainly not as long as FOTM.

That doesn’t make the other patches content ‘not big’.

FOTM is an endless dungeon tower….of course itll have longevity. You can only put so many endless things in a game before they become redundant.

Personally, I’d call the LA Invasion a good example of a big update. The update after, where we take down Scarlet…. not one I’d call big.

Just a reference, almost all the changes that got implemented in this patch are player-suggested. Also, almost every single trash update that drove GW2 from it’s original purpose was player-suggested.

Exactly.

What I don’t understand, is why these small group of people believe that their ‘artistic’ vision trumps the artistic vision and integrity of everything they come into contact with.

You think Da Vinci should and would have changed the Mona Lisa because you thought she had to big of a nose?

You either like something, are apathetic towards it, or dislike it. Move on and stop kittening about a piece of art in hopes of changing it, when it’s not even yours to change.

You DON’T always know what’s best. All of us have our personal wants and tweaks for every game….but unless you made that game, it’s not your choice and frankly you can pipe the kitten down.

You’d rather rescue civilians for a year? While the 1st season Living story wasn’t very strong, the lore that GW has established is strong enough to keep me in it. The content itself, was fun for me. If you don’t enjoy it then do something else. If you can’t find enjoyment in anything else then you have a serious problem that these forums are not going to alleviate.
FF stories are a matter of taste and for the most part, I don’t care too much for them (not a fan of Japanese humor).

I want to rescue civilians until they are all saved. After that, I want to kill the enemies until they are all dead. I want to decide how fast I play through the story and those bits we got every 2 weeks were too small. And since ArenaNet can’t deliver a thrilling story, I want them atleast deliver thrilling rewards.

Play a single player game?

Why should I? The Personal Story until lvl20 was good. They should just stop to justify new content with a half-baked story.

I think they had different writers. No one can deny that the 1st season Living Story was weak, but the foundation under it is the foundation I want in an MMO because while I have 1000+ hours in GW2, it’s not he only game I want to spend time on. “Saving every citizen then killing every bad guy” does not happen in an MMO outside of a sectioned off instance. That argument makes no sense. If you’re wanting that kind of stuff then you play the dungeons and single player games.

The nice part of the game though, is that you get Gold for everything. sPVP, WvW, PvE, crafting (if you’re clever with it). There’s little reason for you to grind the same thing over and over again, when you can just play the entirety of the game and make Gold doing it.

You are playing the game I would like to have. You get gold for everything, yes. But for the most part, it’s abysmal low and not worth the effort.

I play the game to have fun, not for a job. If you guys really are wanting some kind of extravagant return, I recommend doing something in real life that will get you it because a video game is not supposed to satisfy every little thing in your life.

Lol. Getting rewards is the very reason for MMO’s to exist. Get gear to be better. That’s all about it. You get no bonus if you get some friends in to complete events, you don’t get a bonus for helping all the npc’s. All you get is gold. And all you can do with gold is buying gear to “impress” other players. If you want to play for fun, you can also buy a WII. But that’s not what I want.

If those are your sole reasons, then it sounds like you have some inadequacies that you need to address before you can get better.

Why do people, for the most part, log in? Is it because the game is thrilling or does the game has gorgeous graphics? None of those. It’s pretty good but that’s no long-term goal. If you want the players to keep playing your game, you have to keep them satisfied. The graphics and the gameplay are a good start, but the game has to deliver more than that to keep it’s players. I have played this game now for one and a half year now and neither graphics nor gameplay keep me playing GW, it’s the reward I get. And the reward is pretty low. So if ArenaNet wants to keep me as player, they have to deliver some proper rewards or stories (which they failed up until now). You may have fun playing this game. But when the graphics and the gamplay become ordinary and the story isn’t satisfying anymore, the game has to convince with other qualities.

The whole “brand new sword” carrot on a stick tactic just doesn’t cut it anymore. It’s why everyone kittenes about Diablo and everyone kittens about whatever MMO they are currently playing. It’s not 2001 anymore, there are too many good games out there to tie yourself to one, grinding the same crap over and over, in order to get a marginally better sword. You all say that’s what you want, but yet all I see is kittening in all the games that provide that type of carrot.

GW2 at least gives new stories and experiences to play through, through the Living Story.

You do realize you just explained GW2 also – right?

A player just logged into the game after a year of absence – How exactly has the game evolved since then beyond farming for skins, farming for money and farming for marginally and I mean MARGINALLY better gear?

This game is almost identical to release. So if you have done 1 character map exploration and story which most have done by now – what exactly is left to do?

Oh wait – that’s right – grinding the same crap here as in other games…….

Pot meet kettle.

“GW2 at least gives new stories and experiences to play through, through the Living Story.”

Let’s see if you continue ignoring that statement.

The living story was crap. It’s neither permanent, nor fast enough. We had 2 weeks to rescue civilians. The story was just there to give a reason for the new content they added (which was also bad). If you want to see how thrilling a story should be, play Final Fantasy for example. That is both good story and good story telling for the most part.

You’d rather rescue civilians for a year (permanent)? You don’t like doing the same thing for two weeks but yet you want to grind same levels over and over for better loot? Make up your mind!

The 2 week spans work pretty well for someone who plays other games along with GW2. As a mentioned before, there’s not a single game out there that deserves 100% of your time when the competition is as strong as it is.
FF stories are a matter of taste and for the most part, I don’t care too much for them (not a fan of Japanese humor interjected into all the serious stuff).

I hope they are prepearing for a new loot system t encourage players to play the dungeons/bosses with the motivation that amazing stuff can drop instead of, gold focused mechanics.

The problem is that gold is by FAR the most valuable thing in game. EVERYTHING you could possibly want, you can get with gold. Which in itself wouldn’t be so bad, the bigger problem is: for most things you might want, the ONLY way to get them is by farming gold.

That’s the problem with a reward system that depends almost entirely on RNG. If you get lucky and get a rare RNG drop, you can make a killing on the TP. If you don’t, you will have to grind for weeks and months to be able to buy what you want off the TP. It’s a lottery based system which doesn’t make for enjoyable or rewarding gameplay, sadly.

At first I was like, “wow, feature pack, it’s gonna rock!”, but now I’ve realised that this game’s doomed. 2 years and almsot no new permanent content.

God, forgive ANet for their mistakes…

GW3 is the only thing that may actually save this game!:)

while this isnt really on topic, i agree, they make a lot of changes to the game, but so far they havent expanded the game much.
Game expanding changes would probably be
Fractals
Guild Missions/progression
9 new skills
40 new traits
1 new zone.

which isnt really much at the end of the day. Guild missions is not something i can participate in, which is fine, but it still seems like it is in its infancy. Fractals i think was probably the best thing. the new skills is fairly small amount of change, the new zone while visually impressive is not as well designed content wise as other zones.(generally feels like not much to do there) and the traits havent happened yet so i cant comment on them too much.

Really i like Gw2 in general, but i just dont have much interesting to do anymore.

You’re purposely, ENTIRELY ignoring Living Story content. Which was A LOT of content and experiences. You can’t simply ignore it because it was on a timeline delivery system. If you don’t want to be along for the continual, episodic ride…then GW2 is not meant for you…that was their blatant direction from the get-go and you have no excuse for not realizing that or being angry about it.

The illusion of ‘’some threads are negative, people dislike the game’’ is, well, as stated an illusion. WoW have had that for 10 years.

Not saying, feedback shouldn’t be adressed but forums are usually negative since it is the place where people complain.

Exactly. Most of the negativity in a forum can usually be traced back to around 20-30 people.

That’s 20-30 people out of how many that play the game?

I’m in a referall dependant business and let me tell you….a disgruntled customer will tell 20 others that they hate you, while a pleased customer will tell no one.

Ncsofts 4th quarter financial statement says it’s more then 20-30 people.

They had a loss of 25% in IN GAME sales for that quarter.

Go look it up.

There are no subs to measure so the only way to measure this game’s success is via the gem shop. Quite frankly the only player’s that matter are those spending money – like it or not this is a business first and foremost.

So a decline in their sales is simply viewed as a decline in their paying customer base – which for all intents and purchases means less paying customers.

You are talking entirely out of your kitten . Their ‘financial statement’ would not have gem store income broken down to begin with. NCsoft gross revenue was greater than it was the year prior. And to top it off, you’re going to have a natural regression in sales when a game is past the honeymoon phase.

I’m sorry that you’re in the minority and that you feel that you have some point(less) to prove, but pipe down…you’re too noisy.

Btw…their 4th quarter earnings were the strongest of the year.

My guess is when people first see a good list of changes, their initial reaction is positive. Hey changes can’t be a bad thing right? Well they in fact can; when people sat down and started to comb through what is being brought forth (depending on what class they play and mode they play in) it’s either going to enhance their play experience or wreck it.

Now players who play PvE probably aren’t going to be as vocal as the PvP or WvW’ers are because PvE is generally fairly easy content. When it comes to PvP or WvW, the slightest buff or nerf can completely destroy any semblance of balance between classes.

Looking at the traits, I can just imagine people’s minds churning thinking “great, now how am I supposed to deal with this or that class”. Or “Ya, I can’t see these traits helping in anyway”. Or the worst “why is my class getting shafted while others are getting worthwhile buffs” aka the Ranger.

This is why things turn toxic rather quickly.

I think people need to be able to adapt more. It’s getting pretty pitiful. Nothing they’ve done as of yet will remotely “wreck” the experience of the game. Your class been doing pretty good? Good, fine, but take a nerfing like a man if it’s what’s needed. Not everyone wishes to play the most exploitable class of the month. Everyone is kittening about wanting a challenge but when they are presented with one they just complain. Adapt and thrive…it’s what humans are supposed to be capable of doing.

The new system is great, specially for new players. It’s just gem buyers who bought the same stuff for multiple characters that feel like we have been stolen from.

You’re buying digital barbie doll skins. Let’s be honest here. While you’re free to do what you want with your money. You shouldn’t be angry or shocked when a purchase of digital barbie doll skins becomes worthless.

I also don’t think that PvPers should have an ‘equal’ chance at the stones/crystals because the PvP dailies take less time and are easier to get than regular dailies, so it wouldn’t surprise me if you’d have a chance to get them when you level in PvP.

I’m assuming they will be acquired through the same methods.

With out spending gems the only way is daily reward which you have a 0.26% chance… Sorry that doesn’t cut it. Only other way looks like map completion and you get 3 of the stones which will convert to 1 charge. Still should be other ways.

What about people that only pvp or wvw. This doesn’t help them out at all.

I have little sympathy because people who only play 1/4 of the game to begin with, shouldn’t be up-in-arms over cosmetics. If anything, this gives them incentives to step foot in some other regions once in a while. They got by up until now with the acquisition methods of stones and crystals….they can continue to get by.

I don’t know about you but I consider spvp 1/3 wvw 1/3 and pve 1/3 of the game so excluding 2/3 of the people from the game you have no sympathy for?

Also since to me it sounds like you don’t pvp did you know that they have had a pvp skin locker which is very similar to the one were are getting that is going to unify them? The pvp skin locker it was free to check in/out skins so we never had to rely on these so called transmutation stones/crystals and now charges.

Are you that ignorant that you would blatantly say screw you pvp crowd? Wow man please understand where some of us come from. I have 1000+ hours in the game and play all the 3 parts but some people like my brother only do say 2 of the 3 so you would kick him to curb???

You are obviously misunderstanding the whole system….. Ugh. I play pvp too, and quite a bit. In the old system it was storage of items. 1 item could be stored that you can “check out”. This system doesn’t turn all items into skins that you have to pay for. If you have the item you still have the item in the same way you do now. You have just been given the ability to “duplicate” the look of that item onto something else. You have lost nothing in this new system. They aren’t destroying your current items, or only dropping skins in the future.

Please read and understand the blog post before you freak out.

Dude please stay on topic. This post is about how to acquire transmutation charges. I know perfectly well what the blog post talked about and how both new wardrobe and pvp lockers work. Maybe you should have been the one to read my post in the first place before you go off on some tangent.

No no, you were in the wrong Arisal. Get over it and move on. There is no ‘winning’ over the internet.
Even if the PvP locker merges with the PvE, which they made no actual mention of, then so be it. PvP only people shouldn’t be able to switch their looks on a whim if the other’s can’t.

How was I in the wrong? Thanks for ganging up on a guy who posts a question about what the OP asked “how do we acquire more charges”. No wonder these forums are terrible because people like you guys like to bully.

You 2 didn’t even read my post. It was about how pvp has no way to acquire them when pve does. Thanks for being real awesome. :|

I told you, numerous times, that PvP only players can get the stones/crystals through the PvP dailies.

Not currently. So you think we will get them in the future. If so then that would be awesome.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Daily_PvP

Yes currently, although indirectly. PvP dailies have a chance for BLC keys which, in turn, can give stones/crystals.

Now would it be smart for them to add in the direct reward of stones/crystals if they will, in fact, require PvPers to use them? Yes and I think they would.

I’m fairly sure it will be gem store only. I bet having people customize their appearance is one of the few regular money makers they have.

I 100% doubt it will be gem store ‘only’.

It very well might be. The current system for transmutation crystal is 100% gem store (unless you include BLTC key farming). I personally don’t see a problem with this. I don’t understand why people think that the employees who do this don’t deserve to get paid. If the gemstore stops turning a profit they shut down Guild Wars 2. NCsoft/ArenaNet is a business plain and simple. You can’t have anything in this world at no cost. Someone has to be using the gemstore in order to keep this game alive, if you choose not to that is your choice (this game is nice enough to let you choose not to pay to play), but don’t get upset that they don’t offer things to you for free that others are willing to pay for.

You get them passively through dailies. I don’t see why they have any reason to change that.

It is only in their best interest to give you things like that free on an occasional basis as it reminds you they are there to purchase at any time. It’s why they periodically give you free boosts and temporary vendors, etc.

Im not mad at you, its the perfectly logical thing to do, its what the system encourages, it is however, not the best system for anets profit, anets art designers, or even the players of the game.

It’s because they have no impulse control and think everything they want should be free and they should get it RIGHT NOW!

/Veruca Salt

its because i have impulse control, and anet is making it really easy for me not to defeat it at all.

new and old system solution to equation, that many of the defenders also admit is their plan.
use old stones to transmute high end items they already unlocked on multiple charachters
net result anet gets no more money, or perhaps one charge sale if the person in question ran out. And nobody hunts or uses more than one set

my system
anet gets more money as users begin to use transmutation stones on any gear they like, even if only for special occaisons, in game players begin to collect various gear sets just for options, and have new horizotal progression goals with cosmetics.

problem is the system is close to being a smash hit for everyone, instead after about a week everything will be the same as before, other than having a better window shopping app.

“My system”

Maybe you should make a pitch to home-shopping network cause I’m not buying your kitten.

I think what people seem to be misunderstanding from the complaints to this system is that Anet is monetizing the wrong thing for their consumers. It’s great you’re unlocking all these awesome skins, but it’s too bad you can’t use them without paying Gems, or paying an increasing amount of gold to convert into Gems.

You realize that nothing has changed from the system, except now your non-80 xmute stones will count towards level 80 gear (albeit at a 3-to-1), right? Other than that, what has changed about xmute stones other than being called charges?

And for the record, if you can convert in-game gold you’ve farmed into gems to purchase xmute charges, then it is not a requirement to purchase anything. You can get all of the xmute stones/charges and anything else you want on the gem store just by playing the game without additional purchases just like your precious Diablo III. I do hope you realize this. Please god realize this. Otherwise you fail at GW2.

exactly the point, nothing has changed and the old system had everyone sitting on transmutation stones, and people never changing their gear, and choosing only one look per charachter, which is very bad for a game that wants horizontal progression through cosmetics.
there is no horizontal progression or vertical progression with this system.

I will definitely be applying certain skins onto multiple characters, of which I couldn’t do before without having multiple source skins.
….and when they come out with some new, cool looking stuff, then i’ll buy it and apply it as desired.

It’s a system just like DCUO’s except with the transmutation stone requirement (which isn’t much) and I loved it in that. It’s like you guys are actually afraid of having more options at your disposal. In DCUO, it WAS exciting to get a new skin. DCUO’s skin unlocks weren’t even account wide, so what ANet is doing is pretty great.

and why can’t people choose one look for their character and ‘sit on it’? It is their character…and only they know what they want it to look like. I know what I want my character to be like from the creation, once I obtain that…why should I have to change it?

no system would have forced you, and its not like DCUO system at all, DCUO you unlock a style item and can use it whenever you want, you dont have to pay money every time you change your style.

If it was like DCUO system it would be fine.

but this is not going to increase the desirability of transmutation stones (in your example it has the exact same value it had before to you) and its not going to increase the desirability of any armor that isnt the best right now.

yeah people will use stones to put the expensive hard to get gear on their other charachters, and then it will just sit there for months at a time. And they wont be trying to make that volcanus once they have dawn, because they can only use one anyhow.

DCUO charges you for every Content (story, dungeons, powers, etc) patch they release, so no thanks, I’ll take the GW2 system any day

DCUO is also free to play, i paid 60 bucks for this game, honestly id rather spend 60 a year and encourage development of new content rather than 10 a year and encourage nothing.

Anet im telling you right now, make a martial artist class, and some new content to actually explore his progression on, and i will gladly give you 60 bucks. I have no problem spending money for value, but its sad to see you try to sell me things that will have no value to me almost completely based on how you sell it.

unlocks, yes
per clothes change, nah, ill just take one look
nice window shopping app though

So you didn’t buy crystals before and you won’t buy crystals now. Wow…earth-shattering. Take your kittening elsewhere. There is always a fresh, new carrot on a stick in GW2…if you can’t see it, then that’s your problem and your problem alone.

I’m rather anxious about this update, largely due to the little information we’ve gotten concerning town clothes. As I understand it, this update is about making customization easier. Town clothes is part of that customization. Wouldn’t it make more sense to add them to the wardrobe as individual pieces, the same as the rest of the skins? A lot of the community has invested a lot of money/gems/gold/time into getting those town clothes, the same as others would for weapons and armor, and the tonics part of this update feels rather like a slap in the face in my opinion.

While you are losing some customization options, you will be able to wear your town clothes outside of town. I think that’s more than a fair trade-off.
