I’ve been running into Anet staff, in-game, off-and-on since launch. Even moreso lately. They’ve always been very chatty and helpful too.

There’s two kinds of people involved with this game. The ones who play the game and the ones who live in the forums. Luckily the developers fall under the first group.

What’s wrong with having players test content before it comes out? That could save so much embaressment simply from preventing “bad updates”.

For all intents and purposes. Anets patches have been pretty kitten smooth.

Best ways to make gold?

Grind in one of two ways.

In the tradition of Aion, be a PVPer go to EotM or WvW.

In the tradition of WoW, run dungeons.

Don’t expect to play how you like.

Play how you like? If you don’t enjoy WvW or dungeons, then what are you doing? While those are the most consistent ways to get steady income, everything you do outside of them nets you gold as well. Everything I’ve done, I’ve done for means outside of gold. The gold was a secondary benefit. I’ve played the game ‘how I like’ since launch. I’ve never rolled in piles of gold like others, but I’ve gotten everything I’ve wanted (outside of a legendary).

I want a lvl 80 only zone and I hope that’s what we get tomorrow. There are plenty of other level zones already and only two zones that are lvl 80 only. (Frostgorge doesn’t count because it’s not lvl 80 only)

Sounds like more elitist talk, we need a good blend of all lvl maps not just exclusive to lvl 80. Also, you are most likely going to be very disappointed tomorrow, I highly doubt we will get a new map at all other than a revamped wildlands, much less lvl 80 exclusive map. That probably wont come for some time. Giving under lvl 80 maps will at least give new under lvl 80 players something of the new stuff that they can lvl in, even if they cant play the actual story yet.

I would bet that if it was a <80 map you’d turn around and complain that there is no “end-game” being added. You guys are so ridiculously hard to please that it’s not even worth trying.

I’m guessing it’ll be a lvl 80 map. With the megaservers, it is no longer a problem navigating a lvl 80 map with a <80 character.

I think you should lose credit for the event after so many minutes. People tagging and then running off or dying on purpose does not promote a conducive environment for others. Basically anywhere in the game, you can run back to within a minutes time from the nearest waypoint. Make it where you lose credit after 2-3 minutes of not hitting the boss.

Sky Graphic Improvements?

Well, the original resembles a storm cell system (that’s the clouds stopping/starting…not the sky). The other is a clear/sunny day. Neither is really more appealing than the other, just different. Looks like it was probably raining on that map at that time. There are places in the game that look like the sky you mocked up. I’m glad there’s the variety.

Also, there might be some draw distance limitations playing into that first picture, can’t quite tell.

So let me get this straight.

The Revenant.4970

When they first announced that future releases would come out every 2 weeks and all the content would be available to play at any time within that it was actually heralded as a great move by many players because it was a big improvement on what we had before.

Maybe if they could go back to when GW2 first came out (or earlier) they would have gone with this system from the start, but I don’t think they were deliberately delaying it for 2 years. I think they genuinely believed that temporary content would be more fun and exciting.

The limited time events were fun and exciting. It gave you the sense of experiencing something for being in the right place at the right time (being in the ‘know’ or the ‘cool kids club’). While I understand peoples qualms with that, who don’t play the game regularly, it still had it’s undeniable merits for those that did/do. I think the new system is going to be an improvement in the long run though.

[Suggestion] - Universal Account "Drop-Box"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: The Revenant.4970

The Revenant.4970

Obviously this would be a superior option, as it would be permanent and require no character to be near a bank. The Banker Golem would still serve it’s own purpose as well, so it’s not rendered ‘obsolete’ for gem store considerations.

[Suggestion] - Universal Account "Drop-Box"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: The Revenant.4970

The Revenant.4970

It would be EXTREMELY handy to have a 1-2 slot account-wide “drop-box” in which you can place any item, anytime, anywhere. Every character on your account will have access to this same drop-box.

The purpose of the drop-box is not for storage, but for easily transferring an item from one character to another. For example: you got festival tokens on one character and need to transfer them to another character that has the bulk of them to spend. This allows you to avoid having to take both characters to a bank.

I assume since it’s megaserver that once a temple is open that it’s open to everyone, but it would still be nice to see whether one is open or not before going to the particular map. Charge for All Episodes - regardless

Charge 200 gems for all episodes of LS2 — please make this a content driven business model. That would be the true B2P game we signed up for at launch.

I have never dropped a cent into the cash shop. However I would gladly buy content if it was available (the game sorely needs more content). That’s the only way you’ll get my money.

This also has the effect of forcing quality into the content. If the content sucks, nobody will buy it. It’s a positive feedback loop in the development cycle.

Anyway, I suspect ANet wanted to go this route but for some reason is baby-stepping it with only charging “late” customers.

There’s a reason you don’t hold a job that requires any kind of decision making…PLEASE PEOPLE, stop trying to ruin this game for the rest of us who are sane!

Tired of Triple Trouble

The Revenant.4970

I know this event isn’t supposed to be easy. But I can’t help to think that perhaps Arenanet overestimates the intelligence and devotion of most players. Because the image that I get from people who attend this event is that they are lazy, uninformed and unable to exercise one’s clout. It doesn’t even matter if you put three commanders there explaining step by step what to do. People just think they can zerg which usually doesn’t end well.

People don’t seem to learn from their mistakes because they can just hide in the pack. That is why I liked the Marionette event so much more because people could feel personally responsible for failing the event. I personally think Triple Trouble requires some changes. Not to make it less challenging, but to make people more aware of their mistakes.

Think of it as training for the real world. You’re going to be dealing with these buffoons on a regular occurrence. This is the world we have created and the world we now have to suffer through…I mean live in.

I don’t know how many people have heard or gone to the site plug.dj but it’s a pretty great place to basically set up your own streaming station. Anyways, I set up a room called “The Score” and I have a playlist playing that consists of music featured from the scores and soundtracks of video games, movies, and tv shows. Great chance to experience some nostalgia when a song from an old classic movie or game plays and you might even discover a song or two!

You will have to make an account through plug.dj but it’s super fast and easy. Basically log in with Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ and pick a username. Be sure to ‘favorite’ my community “The Score” so you can access it easily in the future.

Also, multiple people can take turns and play their own playlists in the same “community”, so once we get a couple people on there we can basically have music running nonstop and anyone can contribute songs that they want (as long as they fit into the theme of movies, video games, and tv shows).

Check it out!

Watercolor aesthetics. I love how it looks. The UI does what it needs to do. Only thing that I think looks a bit off is when you first open your hero panel (H) and it’s bare with your character in the middle and a single menu in the top left. Seems kind of ‘incomplete’.

She’s not a small human either, I have her just a touch under the maximum height and she’s a muscular build. Most of the daggers would pass for swords on her.

Lvling without traits isn’t fun.

In your opinion.

Leveling 1-11 is fine without, but 11-30 isn’t? Even though the health of mobs has been adjusted accordingly?

I don’t even notice I’m not getting traits 11-30 now.

It’s not about needing traits cuz the content is hard. It’s about having access to traits to further enrich the gameplay. Traits are the defining factor to how your build plays. If you’re not noticing not getting traits, then your playstyle must be pretty dull. That’s not meant to be offensive. But you’re clearly not utilizing your toon to its fullest potential if you don’t miss your traits.

Why the hell are you worried about utilizing a sub-60 toon to it’s ‘fullest’ potential? Everything is fluid pre-60. It’s your time to experiment. Use levels 1-30 to try out all the weapons and get a good grasp of their different playstyles. Then after 30, add in the traits for further ‘utilization’. Getting to 30 is pretty dang quick to begin with.

In short, your crying over spilt milk.

30 levels to try out all the weapons? Really? You need 20 hours of gameplay to figure out how to swing those weapons?

By fullest potential I don’t mean creating a meta-dungeon build. Other poster said he/she didn’t miss those traits while leveling. I sure miss them. I miss the added dynamics those traits added to my gameplay. I like having those traits to make my toon’s potential even greater. At 40, my Mesmer could trait Deceptive Evasion to make shattering more exciting and faster paced. Without that trait until at least 60 now, my Mesmer’s potential dropped. That’s what I meant.

If you’re playing multiple mesmers…you’re playing the game into the ground anyways. There is no reason to have more than one of each class.

I don’t look at it as what they took away or that I’m missing. Instead I look at it as – what is the design of the game currently. Oh – no traits until 30. OK, I won’t bother about them until I get to 30 then. My gameplay is quite rich enough, thanks.

The design of the game currently is BORING. There is too little to do with making a character at low levels. It used to take until level 40 for some builds to click—now that has been pushed out until 60. That is just painful.

Seeing as you NEVER had full access to traits until level 60 to begin with…..you were never going to get a ‘full-grasp’ on your build until then anyways. Leveling is supposed to be about enjoying your surroundings…not worrying about min-maxing when you can’t even min-max until end-game to begin with.

What I’m starting to find amusing about this is how easily amused people are. Not that being easily amused is a bad thing; I just prefer more intelligence in my humour.

My friend, I do take pleasure in well-executed, clever, complex jokes as well, yet I don’t feel the need to indirectly call others intellectually inferior people just because their tastes in humour are different to my own.
You see, by doing this you do not appear to be smarter, cleverer or more sophisticated. Instead, you look like a stuck-up, pretentious kitten.

Now, if you put some thought into it, you’ll realise that people are just happy that ANET took some of their time to add something wacky to commemorate today’s occasion and are, in turn, expressing their gratitude by sharing screenshots, opinions and whatnot.

In time you will realise that a person’s intellect and cleverness show on their own without needing to foolishly downsize others to demonstrate them.

Well, for starters I don’t actually recall calling anybody intellectually inferior. I do recall saying that the joke lacked any intellectual credit, but hey, let’s just put words in my mouth for the hell of it.
I don’t recall ever saying that if you like this kind of thing then you must be an idiot. All I’m saying is you have to be pretty easily amused to like this kind of thing. I’m sure you can be easily amused and intelligent simultaneously, but there’s no point in denying that this kind of humour is pretty juvenile, and it’s just not to my tastes.

Remember the days when video games were for kids to have fun and not for 35 year old automatons to avoid the real world? Those were the days.

Humor is subjective, to say someone needs a sense of humor bc they don’t find funny what you do proves you don’t understand that point.

Or…maybe you truly do have a poor sense of humor? The bobblehead is COMPLETELY benign. Whether you find it funny or not, any reasonable person can see the humor in it.

This is a fundamental power abuse by the Devs; by playing an April Fool’s “joke” on the community, when the community is not able to do so on the Devs.
Poor judgement Devs, very poor judgement.

You know… There’s hating the ability to disable it and there’s going a little too far. Sure, I hate it to, but I would hardly call it power abuse. It is just a little bit of April fools fun for people, which, unfortunately, people who don’t want it don’t have the ability to turn off. Poor judgement? Sure. Power abuse? Hmm… That’s maybe stretching it.

What is an April Fools joke? It is something that you pull on someone to make them look like a fool for either believing something or doing something silly.
So, since this “joke” happens when you log in, the Devs are in effect saying "You Fool! You logged into our game! Hahahahaha!

Poor judgement to pull this kind of “joke” on your players.

Power abuse? Yes, it is. It may not be on the same level as oppression of minorities, as some put it, but it IS still an abuse in an asymmetric power relationship.

Are you so desperate for any inkling of power in your own life that you can’t take a gag punch for a few hours and move on?
