HoD fell out of T1 a month after release, when much of Titan Alliance left the game. The only relevant experience left now will be the people who just transferred down a couple weeks ago.
Again, another person missing the point. I am simply asking if people would please quit dismissing HoD as a terrible WvW server when they are getting slapped in the face by us.

Kind of disheartening to see everyone bashing on HoD. Yes we got tons of transfers, and yes we had lots of PvE’ers come for the sweet chieves, but as it remains HoD has a strong WvW core. Not to be rude but HoD has more experience then any of the other servers, as we have made the trip to first and experienced the fall back down.
Please just quit dismissing the score as a fluke, a double team, etc. and accept that maybe HoD is not that bad.

Wow, had some great fights today with FA in EBG. While both sides had multiple wipes, I believe FA came out on top. Just too many tanky people with you guys. Anyway, I had tons of fun and I look forward to the rest of the week.

I think that some people are missing the point. I am able to tell when I am following a good commander and when I am not. This is not what I am trying to convey. I am trying to find a solution to limit the number of inexperienced tags. I am completely aware that right now the best way to deal with inexperienced commanders is to simply not follow them, however I believe that this system needs some major work. Again, the best way to build trust between a commander and is group is to require commanders to be familiar with the environment.
For those that agree, thank you.

Hmm, that is strange, I don’t see trolling players that want to complete Obsidian Sanctum on your list of activities. Better add that.

Ok, here I go. WALL OF TEXT WARNING
THE PROBLEM:
As of now the Commander’s Compendium can be purchased from certain vendors throughout Tyria for 100 gold. This systems works fine for a PvE environment. In WvW, however, this system can lead to serious problems. I see too many players buy tags (after doing their PvE moneymaking grind) and simply walk into a WvW environment to start attempting to command. I’m all for allowing for inexperienced players to learn the basics of commanding, but there needs to be some restrictions on how easy this has become. For example, today I enter EBG and see a unfamiliar tag on the map. Curious, I follow the tag for a while and become extremely disappointed / a bit angry. The commander throws catapults (facing the wrong way) for a wall that can not be destroyed. The thing that bugged me was that he was wearing T3 human cultural and had an ascended weapon, which obviously labels him as a player that has PvE experience. After this, he runs directly to the enemy keep and gets everyone following him killed ( he was not a deliberate troll ). He obviously had no idea what he was doing in WvW and decided to pop his tag while he found out. Players must trust their commanders for a group to be effective, and when inexperienced players can take over the commanding role at any point, this system fails completely.
A ( POSSIBLE) SOLUTION:
I realize that every player is not a natural commander. However, I believe there need to be some restrictions to limit the number of commanders that are new to WvW. My solution is this: upon entering WvW you can only pop you tag if you meet the following guidelines.
1) 5-10k+ WvW kills ( account bound )
2) Have completed paying a fee of 1000 Badges of Honor
3) Have map completion in the zone you are attempting to command in
4) Various amount of keep/tower/camp captures
I believe that these, and possibly a few more, guidelines would significantly reduce the number of inexperienced commanders. I also believe this change would show players that Anet is in favor of easing into being a WvW commander. These changes would force players to become acquainted with the WvW atmosphere before attempting to lead a group.
Again, I believe these changes would strengthen the bond between players and their commander, which in turn would allow for a much more fun and productive group.

100% agree with OP. Although I feel like this is going to hurt players using some zerk / some knight even harder then those in full zerk. Dropping 10% critical damage when initially lower will cause serious problems. Maybe implement this change in PvE, but keep the current WvW situation constant.

Same here. Too bad I couldn’t make it for reset, I look forward to some epic battles tomorrow. I’ll see you all on the battlefield around 11am server time. Hopefully my server won’t blow the close matchup before then, and in the meantime, Go HoD!!!

HoD will be competing for second in NA Silver. While it is true that at the moment Eternal Battlegrounds is packed full of PvE’ers that have come for the achievements, our BL groups consists of several guilds and skill groups that maintain great coverage at all times. Regarding the EB situation, next week you will see far less unorganized PuGs, and much more coordination. This will be due to the departure of the majority of the PvE’ers and arrival of the core WvW group that has fought on HoD since our time in 1st place. We look forward to great fights next week and the weeks after.
Edit: Forgot to ask, is arrowcart mastery a requirement of playing on NSP?
