However I know a few other classes have it worst than us like Rangers, Guardians or Engineers.
Aoe ranged daze, Aoe point blank knockback. (engineer is in the same boat as our initial interrupt) how are those two worse? As a warrior if you have two people smashing you it’s game over, the guardian can even counter stealthed stomps if he times it right.
I understand why it tends to be like this, since vengeance is a pretty kitten good ability if you get time to use it, but I don’t think the initial interrupt should be countered because there’s a kitten pet in the way. Give single target interrupts piercing and it wouldn’t change team stomping much for warriors but makes pets not be an I win stomp if the ranger has any brains.
I think someone didn’t want a nerf lol
Go read the warrior nerf thread in pvp section. Notice how OP got laughed out. Save yourself more embarrassment.
Anyways, this happens with blade trail too, can get up to 16k if I hit around 5 enemies for 2 times each on the dummies in the pvp training area, since it pierces as well. I don’t wvw enough to enjoy this, but I can only imagine using killshot on a zerg of enemy players lol.
I’ve had times when using Bladetrail in the training area (the one with the golems all lined up) in the Mists where the more enemies I hit the more the damage varies upward. Think the highest I got it to was 16k. Can’t seem to replicate it atm though, how recent was this?
Edit: Went back and tried again, manage a 13.5k hit, so it’s still possible on mist target dummies at least.

Angry Necromancers I guess….
The only thing that irks me is that the hammer doesn’t pierce targets. I’ll have some kitten rockdog or ranger pet right on top of me and I can’t throw to the guy a meter away because the pet is blocking my shot.
ANNOYING
But vengeance is a fun gamble and the other classes don’t even come close on their “big” downed skill.
A major pet peeve in SPvP is when you have For Great Justice! on auto attack and you load back to the starting pen from a death or into the next map and it uses it while you’re loading, so everyone but you has your shout >.<
Do people not understand that your posting history can be checked?
Levelling through SPvP would be great, my rank is already higher than my pve level. I also enjoyed getting paid to pvp in SWTOR. Either of those suggestions is better than a progression system.
What a useless, self-righteous post. MMOs are about progressing your character/account. If people are logging on and not getting anywhere after a play session, they’re going to get bored and quit. Its a simple concept.
Already made a post about how gear based pvp ruins pvp in the pvp gear thread. GW2 was designed not to be like your typical mmo, so that argument doesn’t hold up. I’m sorry you need an advantage over newer players to stay interested, I won’t miss you though.
Arguabley, if you need good gear, it would take skill to get it
This is a big “in theory”, what typically happens is that people find the best class composition that works due to lack of testing or developer oversight, win a lot of games early while the comp is easy to play and when devs finally nerf it, it stays a strong spec and they have gear to ensure a high rating for the rest of the season.
I gave up on WoW pvp for a reason, GW2 would be perfect to me if there were raids, I’d never consider going back.
How does bringing friends in to roflstomp a team make SPvP less pointless? Oh right, you need an advantage and since you can’t be a level 80 fully traited player stomping the low levels who get brought up to 80 like in WvW you’re looking for another advantage to make it “fun” for you.
Mists pvp is about having fun instead of gaining advantages, if this doesn’t appeal to you, stick to stomping low levels in WvW.
It’s the best mesmer heal… so I don’t think it’s weak.
Lol what? Compare it to ether feast. If you still think it’s better, you’re a bad mesmer.
Ether Feast is around 5,600 base healing with 640 additional healing per illusion. When do you usually need healing? Yeah when things go bad. Think twice before posting maybe.
I think if they fix crack shot to start affecting volley it’ll help if it’s truly bugged, though more traits that affected rifles are needed to put it in a good place because outside of volley and killshot the damage is pretty meh, I usually just open with aimed shot for the cripple and volley as I close in.
He probably included racials but doesn’t do SPvP or TPvP so he doesn’t know you can’t use em there.
I use it on my hammer and sword/board warrior for interrupts and pushing enemies out of control points along with stomp. It’s great for defensive specced warriors that want more cc and utility to help teammates but otherwise it’s lame for dps focused warriors who want to down enemies quickly and efficiently, the punch attack is just too weak.
Lol at engineer being bad at rifles post above me. Aside from my warrior I really enjoy playing my rifle engineer. I can bleed, burn, and blind a target with just the spam attack, and it pierces naturally to boot, no traits needed. Then you have an immobilize, a very hard hitting damage and bleed attack for melee range, a great knockback that sends your enemy flying and breaks roots and snares without traits, along with a aoe attack which can be used as an escape as well. This is before getting into the awesome elixers and gadgets which have double uses that go on your profession bar. It’s a kitten great class if you know what you’re doing.
With that out of the way, you can’t play as a “single weapon” warrior from what I’ve seen, you need a second weapon that you use often to either shore up your weaknesses or build on your strengths. On my great sword build I bring a rifle so I have utility and ranged attacks, whereas I bring a hammer on my sword and board warrior to bring cc for my teammates and push enemies out of control points. You have to utilize two weapons to be successful.
From the WvW I’ve done you’ll be using ranged weapons or support weapons instead of running into the Zergs, except smaller skirmishes anyhow. But I don’t particularly care for WvW honestly, SPvP is what I’ve been doing since I got the game, my rank is almost higher than my over level.
I hope they make other weapons more viable but nerfing a weapon or build because it’s popular or the best option out of less desirable ones is bad no matter how you spin it.
Don’t be coy, anyone worth their salt running this build will be using rush to get out of bad situations and blade trail to help bait evades, along with weapon swaps. This is what really gets me, if frenzy is so unskilled then how are these “one trick ponies” doing so well outside of the cool down?
If used on cool down it’s up less than 10% of the time, these warriors aren’t just “waiting on 3 cool downs to do it all over again”, give me a break and come up with something better. If baiting evades and stun breaks isn’t skill, than what qualifies?
If the situation arises where you know you can take on a couple people without becoming a martyr (as you should be able to considering you are defensive built), then by all means do so.
Remember, you are not helping your team by waiting to spawn.
If you’re making 3-4 people take half a minute or more to kill you and take a point you’ve effectively taken them out of the game for that amount of time and allowed your team a better advantage at the other points.
I hope they do reward team play more, because right now it’s better to do the required amount of damage to get credit for a kill, then move on and tag the rest as your teammates kill them.
Don’t stand in front of a warrior, if you’ve burnt all of your defensive cd’s and you got caught, that’s not the warriors fault, if you don’t equip defensive cd’s, also not the warriors fault.
Did I mention not to stand in front of a warrior?
This. A greatsword user has to bait evades and apply slows to get a HB outside of frenzy and bullrush. You got played by someone who knows how to use it.
How about I don’t accept your opinion and passive aggressive insults.
It’s not ideal but until warriors have other options or more melee survivability I don’t see why anyone is complaining about it other than people who can’t dodge or blow their stun breakers on other enemies.
2points here. 1) If there are no other viable builds the solution is not to have a 1 faceroll hero spec. It’s to buff up the other builds so there are viable builds. Also do you need a burst build? Serious question there, wouldn’t a sustained damage with good survivability build be fine or do you desperately need to pump 18k into someone with 1key press. 2) Anything which does in the region of 11k damage for an incomplete channel iskitten Even if it’s not OP it needs changing because its so mindless and skill less.
Until warriors can dodge around as much as theives, they’ll need burst damage. A lot of other classes can do damage without near as much risk right now. Maybe not within the same window of time but they get it done with little personal risk compared to a warrior.
A greatsword frenzy build will still have to contend with enemies the other 56 seconds of the time, it just punishes bads who don’t take a stun break or can’t be bothered to dodge. If you open with bulls rush and frenzy all the time, you’re bad and people will dodge it more than often, you need to wait for opportunities if you really want to do anything with this build. It’s not as mindless as you like to say it is because you can’t dodge.
And it’s still a 60 second cooldown with a 50% damage penalty, anyone with a stun break can punish this build easy. and I doubt the warrior is just waiting in the back until it’s up again, someone who is scoring high with this build knows how to survive outside of a bull frenzy combo. So much for your assumptions, stick to the mesmer forums, a class that if anything needs a balancing.
I tried avoiding frenzy for as long as I could, but I caved in and started using it. It really does make the greatsword palpable in the knockdown bullrush gives and it’s downright silly on some glass cannon classes.
You’re right though, people don’t realize how much you need other slot skills to make greatswords work in pvp.
But whirl is pretty amazing too, can hit 4-6 even 7k depending on the build and it lets you evade while doing it. Funny thing is, if you’re slowed and right next to a guy they’ll eat all the whirls, since it slows down or up with movement speed.
I’m sorta disappointed in Rush though, it get’s affected by movement buffs/debuffs as well so if you have a slow it’s only going to be a root break with a tier 2 discipline trait. It does nice damage if it hits but it takes so much time to hit it’s kinda meh aside from just getting you around the battlefield.
Also Bladetrail is pretty awesome, I can hit most glass cannons for 2k, and if you do the range/avoid hitting walls, when it comes back it hits again, doubling the cripple duration and doing another 2k.
It’s a good weapon class overall, hundred blades just needs support to work, but I guess it’s warranted.
It’s funny how much people complain about greatswords but there’s really nothing else viable if you want to keep up with the other burst classes atm.
Funnier still it’s a channeled melee ability.
So many assumptions in this thread. With how much they’ve been enforcing this censoring theres just no way they’d go overboard sooner or later amirite? (we’re past the point of overboard when it’s a ban for language or conduct right off the bat)
Any1 know why they decided to make this decision?
or a self instant rez that lets you use your invulnerability skill as a warrior
..
You know this is a 15 second cool down that starts ticking once you are downed yes? If you get on top of the warrior fast enough, even if they manage a hammer interrupt ( which is highly telegraphed so just dodge it) you still have enough time to get a finisher off if you aren’t messing around with your “staff”. It also only rezes them with around 40% and doesn’t always rally them if they get a kill during it without a trait.
Don’t spread misinformation around, thanks.
And this isn’t to say elements list downed state abities are fine, because they aren’t.
Yeah, people keep talking about DaoC with the haze of nostalgia, but they always forget how bad it really was.
GW2 does RvR much better, so let’s not compare them.
And I’m wondering how your suggestion fixes there being little pve content? There’s nothing wrong with people wanting progression.
