To me it just feels way more epic to be a part of a band of heroes, who saves the world.

Then you’re in luck because that’s exactly what you got.
You were not alone when you killed Zhaitan and you were not alone when you killed Scarlet. Do you did make the killing blow, at least with Scarlet.

That’s true. Still, I felt really lonely during the Personal Story. Instanced as the only player, the NPCs around me (even Trahearne) didn’t really help much to give me that “great army, great battle for the world” feel. I think that they could have done a lot for this feel, if they’ve done the same with Fort Trinity and Zhaitan (e.g.), like they did with the tutorials. That could have been a totally different and better experience imo.

When that’s said, I do feel that I’m more “a part” of the LS storyline. I didn’t defeat Scarlet alone, not at all. Yes, the killing blow is instanced, but I didn’t really mind that too much. I guess it also allows some creative space for players who do want to be ‘the hero’, and I’m fine with that. But, after the event I agree that NPCs should give credit to all heroes.

P.S. I love your signature line Windu

History is history. As for the question that started this thread, my answer is:

Nelson Mandela:

Never, never and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another.

Just tried the event chain again now after the patch. People started splitting up, like ANet always wanted us to do. People talked together and listened to each other. We gathered at the plaza and organized into three groups.

We still failed miserably in hitting the 6 min. mark (I presume due to issues with scaling the event down to 30-40 players per Knight). But, this was so much more fun!!!
It was great to see people choosing to discuss tactics and organizing instead of just zerging together!

So, thank you ANet for trying to make the game fun and challenging! Some parts are still buggy as hell (e.g. the UI was not working properly: all three knights appeared to have zero health on the event tracker), but at the speed you’re putting out content I can’t really blame you.
I’m more frustrated with ourselves; the players, than what I am with ANet’s bugs. ANet tried their very best to hint towards a split. Still, all we did was zerg up. Are we really so simple minded, that ANet needs to FORCE us into thinking outside the box – and having fun?

Yes, it’s still buggy. Yes, the achivement is still very hard and challenging. I might not get it. Also I really liked the way the cutscenes were implemented into this last LS chapter (no, I don’t like Scarlet particulary much either, no one did). But just think of where we started with the 2-way dialouge ‘thing’ in the “Personal Story”, and of where we are now!?

ANet, you’ve shown that you’re learing from (most of) your mistakes, and that you’re really trying hard to deliver better and better content! I don’t necessarily disagree with the complaints in this thread. But hell, you deserve a little credit for your job and for your efforts in making GW2 a better game, step by step.

Keep up the spirits and the good work! (And dare to think BIG about presenting your lore in the most spectacular ways!)

To me it just feels way more epic to be a part of a band of heroes, who saves the world. To think that I could save Tyria single handedly from the great Elder Dragons is just plain silly.

If I want to be the one great hero, I’ll go play a single player game.
But in an MMO; in a war against the mightiest of the mightiest; I would be honored if I could say that: “On that day, when thousands and thousands of valiant soldiers stormed the beaches to fight the great dragon… I was there. I was one of them. And together we prevailed!”.

Compared to: “On that day, when valiant I stormed the beach to fight the great dragon. I did it all on my own. I poked him in the eye with a stick, he died. And I prevailed on my own while the rest of the world did nothing”.

Yeah, right…

Where, in the history of Tyria, did the humans do atrocious things to the Charr?

The Ecology of the Charr:

Then, the humans came, an infestation caused by beings called gods that had been enemies to the Charr since the beginnings of history. The humans worshiped and revered these gods, and in return were given magic the likes of which the Charr had never before. This upstart race spread like a plague across the continent, and the Charr soon faced the true challenge to their dominance–the threat of humanity.

(…) Primordis, the VOLCANIC Dragon, in which could be ANYWHERE UNDERGROUND. Plus if you know your lore, destroyers have been popping out in the Dominion of Winds (aka right next door) so i think scarlet wants to release a magma chamber full of destroyers in which primordis and the stone dwarves could be. Remember? in GW1… there were caves under LA that Dwarves occupied. (…)

Hmmm.. interesting theory. But: if she hits deep enough to push through to the Depths of Tyria, she would flood the entire underground network. (potentially exterminating the majority of the destroyers and ‘watering’ Primordus out from his cover – and basically put the water level down like 20 meters all over the world).

That just ain’t gonna happen. Ley Lines is all there is and ever was…
