I guess people in NA who play in off hours are screwed then… they should go to Euro servers…. but wait, when or if they’re schedule changes they have to pay money again to xfer. It’s always funny to watch people make kittenty suggestions they thought about for 3 minutes and decided to regurgitate them for the world to read.
Considering that 99.9% of all people who live in NA aren’t playing in the off hours suggested, I guess it would just be you. I don’t have any issues with that. It’s always funny watching people respond with obviously kitten forum posts for the world to read.
80 Necromancer [Munchies Survives]
It’s no secret that when NA players go to bed the Oceanic guilds come out and wipe the map completely in their favor and get full point ticks for about 8 hours while we sleep. Does no one else see an issue with this? It’s almost a requirement to have an Oceanic guild or two on your server if you want to actually succeed in WvW. Players who don’t even live in NA shouldn’t be able to influence the outcome of NA WvW. Just saying.
My solution? Bring WvW offline based on server time and stop point ticks during this down time. For example, ANet could disable WvW from 3 AM to 10 AM server time. This would allow Oceanic players to stay on NA servers and enjoy interaction with NA players without destroying what little balance remains in WvW. If Oceanic players want to play WvW then they can return to their own servers.

you just named the 3 assassin classes. They are all fragile classes which using kiting and trickery to negate damage.
I will admit though that the stealth ability on the mesmer and thief is complete BS. I don’t have a thief but I do play a mesmer and it feels cheap. At least with mistform you know where they are going. Why Anet hasn’t allowed people to knock players out of stealth is mental. At least reward the player for guessing right.
Oh you don’t have a thief? But it’s BS? Try playing an unstealthed thief and see how long you last. Stealthing is as much a core mechanic as changing attunements is to an ele.
80 Necromancer [Munchies Survives]
Mesmers aren’t overpowered at all and this is coming from someone who doesn’t and will not play one. They are absurdly squishy and if you have any stuns or interrupts just learn to time them properly and enjoy watching as they can’t cast while their health drops like a sack of potatoes.
Elementalists are the only questionable class in my honest opinion but they can only be tanky and resilient if they build for it. Defeating an Elementalist is all about timing your stuns and interrupts properly. Is he low on health? Has he switched to water attunement? Watch for the heal cast and make him a sad panda by stunning him as he casts it. Congrats his heal is on cooldown and he has no worthwhile offensive spells. Enjoy.
Thieves are seriously NOT over-powered. Now I play one so I know many of you will simply read this as bias but take a few moments to consider what I say. There a three types of thieves: Glass Cannon, Condition, and Survival.
Glass Cannon thieves give everything up in terms of survivability in order to maximize their DPS. Yes they can stealth and YES they can catch you off guard but that is what a thief is supposed to do; catch you off guard. That being said the trick to dealing with glass cannon thieves is dodging and paying attention. Timing your dodges and stunning him before he casts Hide in Shadows is how you win. If he drops Shadows Refuge, drop AoE damage inside the bubble. You will down him guaranteed.
Condition thieves are pretty weak and rarely seen in my opinion as all it takes is some removal and all your DPS is gone. I see a lot of these thieves attempting to do perma stealth builds so they can disappear and sustain damage. Ultimately, these guys can’t do anything but hide so just pay attention.
Survival thieves are the smart players who give up some damage to ensure that they can outlast foes in a 1v1. We are the hardest to kill but we can’t nuke you in 2 seconds and I would say that survival thieves take the most skill to use.
tl;dr
Learn how to counter each class before you make a completely stupid thread.

Please.
What do these three Professions have in common?
Cheap escapes. They can tank just as well, if not muuuuch better, than a Warrior/Guardian by simply jumping in and out of an enemy zerg unmolested.
I lol’d. Thieves tanking. QQ more.

Its sad that a global company such as anet haven’t addressed this yet or even commented on this due to yet another holiday event in the USA, ITs SuperBowl, so screw our gaming customers world wide lets all take the weekend off. Seams no one is home just like wintersday we may get someone in 3 weeks from now going OH Theres a problem .
It’s not a holiday. It’s a Sunday here. This is the weekend. People have lives to live. I forgot how Americans were the only ones to place importance on sporting events. I totally forgot how all of Europe shuts down to watch the most boring sport in existence.

No offense people but most of you complaining about culling are probably playing on some seriously craptastic rigs.
You do realize that your ability to generate and render models is completely relevant to the number of stream processing units in your GPU? If your GPU is a kitten then you should expect having issues rendering 50 or so players instantaneously. Furthermore, as WvW is hosted on a server, your internet connection has to communicate with the server constantly in order for your GPU to accurately render the enemy models and their locations.
In short, if you have a lower end rig and a not so great internet connection, then you need to understand that culling is going to affect you a lot. This is why ANet implemented the low texture placement models; it’s so low end rigs and crappy internet connections can actually put something on the screen in a short amount of time.
Many large scale games suffer from culling issues and most of these issues are spawned from people with lower end rigs. Planetside 2? Yeah.

So much hate for SBI in this thread. I think it’s hilarious that T1 servers consider themselves skilled; it’s just a population battle at that point and who can zerg the most effectively. I hated T1. It’s boring and there is little room for creativity in siege and combat tactics.
I love where SBI is at right now in terms of WvW. Yaks Bend and Crystal Desert, while still larger than us in terms of population, put up good fights and are generally enjoyable opponents.
Eternal Battlegrounds was a complete fun house last night as SBI trebbed SM walls from multiple locations, poured in, and nearly took the castle but we were incredibly disorganized after flooding in. I refuse to play on a T2+ server again as it is so goodbye queue issues.

i would’nt want to see them removed,
just everyone given an equal footing,
such as the “sturdy bodied”™ warrior who has no protection buff, no regen buff (unless you spec for banners lol) and only one utility skill to mitigate damage (endure pain) which lasts a puny 3 seconds on a 90 second cooldown.
compare that to eles with arcane shield, mist form, armor of earth and then you see a problem.solution: give the “Sturdy Bodied Warrior”™ some Sturdy Bodied utilities.
Good point! I don’t play a Warrior but aside from 100 Blades Builds I rarely see any Warrior do well as Guardians can essentially do everything they do, except do it ten times better.
80 Necromancer [Munchies Survives]
Exactly. No way should a class stay alive after i run behind then with a SD crit rifle build for 20 seconds pulling off 1700 damage on basiclly every hit and 3000 on a skill use.
Considering he was down to 25% when the chase began and ended up with more at the end.
And you see alot of eles lately running into starting capping point early on just to hold the cap off. 4 people whacking at them while he zips around for a kitten-load time.
I dare you say you didn’t have that happen to you.
Out-healing damage is definitely an issue in my honest opinion. I play a thief (not the standard backstab glass cannon build) and it gets a little stupid. Rocking P/P and SB, I can melt most players in 1v1 situations with the exception of “skilled” Elementalists who can somehow out-sustain my DPS even when I pop Headshot to interrupt their heals and utilities.
80 Necromancer [Munchies Survives]
Yea, anyone should die when you want them to die.
I’m not arguing that a player needs to die no matter what when I engage him, I’m arguing that certain classes such as Elementalists and Mesmers are light armor characters that can take more punishment than a bunker Guardian. That’s quite broken. They need their healing utilities DRASTICALLY nerfed.
80 Necromancer [Munchies Survives]
Does anyone else think that some of the healing utilities need to be dramatically nerfed, if not removed? It seems to me, despite well timed ganks, stuns, and interrupts, players can become near invincible in a 1v1 situation because of their heals?
Mesmers and Elementalists seem to have an uncanny and broken ability to get hit like a truck and come back with full health. Rinse and repeat. I don’t consider myself a god at PvP but I’m a fairly skilled player.
Also, why not remove the downed state from the game? It just slows things down and gives certain classes more utility than they already have.
80 Necromancer [Munchies Survives]
It’s likely just lag.
80 Necromancer [Munchies Survives]
Personally, I never follow Commanders because it just promotes lame zerg play and I never feel like I accomplish anything in a zerg other than test my rig’s capabilities and risk getting wiped by an opposing mob thanks to culling.
The issue here is the attitude towards Commanders. For some reason, players seem to assume that you owe a Commander your attention and respect when in reality any one of us could buy enough gold from the TP and get our icon in the next 5 minutes. It doesn’t take anything to be a Commander other than a basic understanding of the game and that’s the truth. I don’t need a zerg to go take a supply camp, I’ll just run havoc in Bluevale, ninja their Bluebriar, and then treb their bay with 5 people instead.

I don’t approve of server hopping myself, but instead of whining and griping all day long about how one server has a clear advantage over the others you could just transfer to another server and rid yourself of the issue. That being said, ending free transfers isn’t going to stop the stacking or the imbalance because hardcore and mindless players will continue to pay money to transfer wherever they please.
The real issue and imbalance with WvW is that is is 3 servers competing against one another instead of just 2; that alone creates a mismatch and imbalance because it’s a given that not all 3 servers are going to be on the same level.
All it takes is for one server to take off with a healthy lead and then the server in last place has everyone shouting that this server is “dead” and suddenly last place has no one competing First place now has a massive population boost, giving them immediate map coverage and control, ultimately leaving second place in a very nasty spot.
Personally, I just vote that WvW become server against server for the sake of balance. Without that third server to possibly contest what you control it becomes harder to maintain map control and you could expect map control to constantly change.

SMITE, League of Legends, and DotA2 are all the same game beating the same dead horse and the reason they have an eSports “community” is because they are free to play and because they were built specifically for tournament play in mind. Some of the most competitive eSports games were never developed specifically for tournament play and their success didn’t happen over night. Starcraft and Counter Strike were originally just awesome titles to play and now you can watch the GSL or CS tournaments all over the globe; it took time though.
My point is, quit comparing an MMO (this is what it is…) to games developed completely for tournaments. Oh and $100k is nothing and as they have literally no sponsors this would immediately spell the death of this game if the tournament fails, which is quite possible because SMITE is the most garbage game I have ever played.

Let them have Tier 1. They may come to find it not to such a great prize after all. Look at the effect it had on SBI. We could flaunt our community then as well as SoR does now, but in the end it didnt have a lasting effect. I dont know the rivalry between TC and SoR but it seemed good natured up until this week. The score is more lopsided due to a server struck with a mass exodus, and a number of new guild’s flooding SoR for Tier 1 glory.
If TC wants to remain in Tier 2 for a matter of boasting, I would prepare more for upencomming servers such as Maguuma, Dragonbrand and that digusting entity that is Kaening. You guys are going to have your hands full with them focus on that, not holding SoR back.
For what its worth, aside from being outnumbered this was quite easy to stomach on the receiving end. It was almost refreshing to run around and just try to find fights, avoid zergs and not have to worry about PPT. I bet TC did the best when they did just that. Problem is, your starting to worry about it. The more you worry the more you will realize your only chance of Tier 1 is to bandwagon. Its not worth it.
Go back to respecting each other and being cordial. Save the vitriol for another match up. SoR will get plenty of it if they move up, and TC will get plenty of it when Maguuma and Kaening arrive. Neither of you should be lambasting each other, kitten I sound like a grandmother. Also, dont expect us to totally abandon the match next week, if we have 50 people playing again, well have 50 people holding atleast one tower. I refuse to let their be a blackout in primetime. Ogre’s watch is ours!
This. Tier 1 is not what it’s all cracked up to be and quite frankly, I’m happy SBI is getting dropped down a tier or two. If you value mindless zerg gameplay in which you accomplish nothing but storm keep after keep and pretend that you actually contributed to the poor soul you and your 60 friends just demolished, then yes, Tier 1 is a godsend. However, if you value skilled play and enjoy running small havoc groups with quality players, then I recommend staying in T2 and T3. Nothing is more rewarding than two thieves taking every supply camp from SoR Borderlands while they scratch their heads wondering wtf is going on.
80 Necromancer [Munchies Survives]
As that is thus directed at me, then I must say no, I’m not trying to complain at all. I’m trying to pull people together in these last days before server transfers become paid. I want our community to maintain what we have, and I want the other WvW servers to know that we cherish what we have and will fight ferociously to stay in the upper tiers. There isn’t a single complaint in the OP, there are only comments regarding the reality of where we’re at and what we can yet do if we keep together. We are smaller than we once were, and we have lost people; these are facts that we must deal with, not complaints, and I want us all to be there together in dealing with it.
Well your OP is less “Hey come join SBI and help rebuild an awesome server…” and more like “Hey, we’re in some serious population trouble, come help us…”.
I personally don’t want a population influx coming to SBI. I haven’t had this much fun in WvW since, pretty much ever. It’s nice not having to run into zerg after zerg after zerg and let’s face it, that’s all T1 is nowadays. T2 stinks just because we don’t have Oceanic guilds to help with map coverage and, as you said, we are missing a few hardcore WvW guilds.
I think it would benefit your message more to simply advertise that you were hoping to gather more quality players.
As far as respect goes I think it’s still well known that T1 and T2 servers respect us quite a lot. We’d still be in T1 if SoS and JQ hadn’t blatantly allied. Let’s wait for T3 and assess that before we start assuming things are going poorly.

It’s the same routine that every MMO goes through within the first 6 months of its existence.
“This game is dead! No one plays it anymore!”, says your average MMO gamer as he sits in a second phase or overflow.
I’ve played lots of MMO games. Perhaps too many and with each one server shifts happen and suddenly a server is dying or is dead. WoW was supposedly dead 3 months before BC came out. It has millions of subs. Definitely fine. SWTOR was “dead” three months after its release but it was fine and is doing great after going F2P.
Everyone judges a servers success based upon its Tier in WvW but even in T6 servers you find PLENTY of players,; they just aren’t WvW oriented.
tl;dr
My advice is to either transfer to a T1 server and join the rest of the bandwagoning fools or move to a T2/T3 server and have fun. Or you could stay on your “dead” server and have fun with PvE. Long story short, this game is doing fine and paid transfers will stop all the terribad guilds from server hopping.

This all being said I have no idea what you’re getting at with this post. Are you trying to rally around a complaint?
I’m not sure which post this is directed at; are you talking to me (OP) or Porky?
I meant that at the OP my bad. I should have specified.
80 Necromancer [Munchies Survives]
SBI was and has been an absolute powerhouse in WvW up until about a month ago because we lost War Machine, an important Oceanic guild. No one had an issue with this until JQ got a massive pop influx, including several Oceanic guilds. The issue here isn’t dedicated WvW guilds becoming tired of “carrying” the server, it’s that they got tired of not being able to do anything.
Oceanic guilds on NA servers are what honestly ruin the balance of WvW because NA players are living out their real lives when Oceanic guilds are ready to log on, leaving SBI completely defenseless. This is precisely why you see SoR owning everything when you wake up each day.
@OP This all being said I have no idea what you’re getting at with this post. Are you trying to rally around a complaint?

SBI isn’t dead by any means of the word but our success has nothing to do with Commanders leading us to victory. The only Commanders remaining are new ones who have no idea as to what they are doing. That being said, it’s small havoc squads that are keeping SBI alive and kicking. My guild, From Zil, for example is destroying SoR and TC players who think they are better because they run in a mindless zerg.
Last night a guildmate and I started out double thieving around supply camps and between the two of us we brought our tick up from 45 to 90. Once we got the guild on we ran a 5 man train on supply camps, continually killing the Guild Claiming while stealthing in and out and dealing with 15+ SoR zergs. We baited zergs and destroyed them with hilarious arrow cart placements and even ninja’d Bluebriar and set up trebuchet to ninja their Bay.
SBI isn’t dead and I’m not concerned one bit. The only reason SBI isn’t in T1 anymore is because we have zero oceanic guilds to take map control in the dead of night while NA sleeps. SoR has about 5. What we do have, however, is seriously skilled and quality players. Quality is better than quantity in my book.
80 Necromancer [Munchies Survives]
You also have to realize that most of the streamers aren’t actually doing sPvP. Whenever I’ve tuned into a GW2 stream on twitch it’s usually some streamer either leveling, running fractals, or derping around in WvW.
If GW2 adopts an actual skill based ranking system I guarantee you’ll see an influx of sPvP players and possibly a jump in stream views. If it weren’t for MLG showcasing LoL on a massive scale and providing stipends and payouts for top teams, you wouldn’t even see streamers for LoL.
My point is, you need a consistent tournament setup in order for a game to grow and inherit high stream activity. You have to have paid professional players streaming consistently. Starcraft II succeeded the same way.
Essentially, give it some time fellas.
80 Necromancer [Munchies Survives]
A massive mistake? Free server transfers was a MASSIVE mistake. Servers have grown exponentially while others have fallen to the depths of server hell simply because anyone and everyone could simply transfer to the top T1 server and bandwagon all day long. My home server is SBI and I watched as we slipped to T2 not because we couldn’t handle it anymore, but because 600 some players left our server to go join JQ just so they could win. Free server transfers absolutely destroy what little balance there is in WvW.
The only people who see this as a mistake are people who are upset that they can’t server hop to a winning server and pretend like they’ve actually contributed the whole time.
80 Necromancer [Munchies Survives]
Most of the remaining player base on SBI is made up of players not only loyal to their guilds, but players who are loyal to their server. In my experience you’ll find some of the best players on SBI as well as some of the most sincere. If you want to join an awesome server, you should join SBI.
