Okay, any hardcore players around willing to suggest great games that you would leave gw2 for?
There’s no subscription fee here so you wouldn’t be leaving.
It just sounds like this game cannot keep up with how fast you chew through content.
Seems to me the answer is obvious, that you need more than one game to play.
Although I myself have decided not to play anymore as grind is just not my cup of tea in this or any other game, I think it’s important to realise that Anet may not be responsible here.
They themselves may be in complete agreement with the criticisms of the player base for all we know, but they as a company are beholden to their sponsors NCSoft.
We as players are not privvy to the contractual obligations between NCSoft and Anet. They could have informed us of what’s going on as much as they are allowed within legal agreements.
What we do know is that many players were leaving early on after they thought they could not lobby Anet to emulate their favorite vertical progression game and that a decision was made to try to chase after those lost customers. Was the decision Anet or NCSoft? We simply do not know.
Whether or not the decision to try to appeal to those customers in order to bring them back is met with success remains to be seen. Chasing the slice of Blizzard’s pie has been disasterous for many other titles, but NCSoft/Anet obviously believe that they can succeed where other companies have failed.
Ultimately if a player feels betrayed the only way to lobby them is to write a polite letter to both Anet and NCSoft. Let them know that while you still enjoy the product you will be witholding the money you would have spent at the store until such time that they return to their original design philosophy and intent. Companies respond to ‘the bottom line’ and are responsible to their shareholders.
If enough people playing the game happen to agree with you then it becomes more costly for shareholders to abandon the manifesto than to adhere to it.
For my husband and I, ascended gear would need to be scrapped and rolled back to Exotic (top tier) with OPTIONAL horizontal grind for legendaries.
We had all but done with mmo’s due to the mind numbing, dull, anti-fun, repetition of grind. It is the laziest way to get around pressure for new content there is. Give the players futile busy work that never ends.
Neither of us have the time or inclination for something less challenging than data entry that soaks up your life. Infact data entry would be preferable as I’d be collecting money for that rather than paying out. For us gaming is all about entertainment and nothing is entertaining about grind.
I had 4 toons at lvl 80 and was trying to craft their exotics and this grind was excessive to me with the ridiculously low droprate on T6 fine crafting mats, I can’t get my own characters geared let alone help out my fellow guild members (the fraction remaining that is). But I grit my teeth and forged ahead knowing that it would end soon and then be done with.
There had been many statements from Anet over the years of how they as gamers themselves believed that grind was the antithesis of fun and was something they just weren’t prepared to do.
If they had been honest about the grind of this game (now compulsory and no longer optional), we would not have even considered purchase in the first place.
To give a rather poor analogy:- I saw an apple advertised, I paid for an apple but after biting into it I discovered it was actually an orange. Now oranges are great and some people really love them. I just happen to be allergic to them.
Brace yourself… it’s gonna get a whole lot worse with agony and infusion gear checks
Just so Anet can understand just how fail this event is because of lag I thought i’d provide my machine specs:-
DELL T5500 Workstation
2x Xeon X5650 6 core
36gig DDR3 ECC DRAM
Nvidia GeForce 680 GTX
Force Series™ GT 240GB SATA 3 6Gb/s Solid-State Hard Drive
Cintiq 21UX
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit (SP1)
Shaw 5mbps cable connection
…. can’t even fire a skill …. brilliant!!
And this is the carrot that is meant to soften the introduced gear treadmill and fail class balance?
Perhaps in retrospect the festival team should have been allocated to the very overworked 2 man team addressing class fixes and balance.
Those 3 reasons pretty much sum up why i’m putting down my sword now and walking away.
Other mmo’s endless grind and dungeon gating was why I came to be interested in playing this game. I don’t want to spend ANY time preparing for fun. I want to get my endgame gear and be done with it. I want to know that WvW outcomes are based on strategy and skill only.
Lotro did its own version of infusions called ‘radiance’. Six months after introducing it they had a situation where no one new could get their radiance gear because everyone who had any would insist you had a minimum of x% to join their group. The community became one of ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’ where only the former group could do the endgame content.
Even though we haven’t even seen the new dungeon yet there are already threads asking for a method to ‘gear check’ other players agony scores. So anyone wanting this gear had better get in early or they will face being blocked from the dungeon by other players insistence on their gear scores.
Turbine had to admit they’d made a huge mistep with Radiance and removed it, but not before the damage was done. The company nearly went belly up, Warner had to step in to save them and the game having lost a huge proportion of its population went to f2p.
I notice that the people who wanted this progression change you speak of had already left the game.
In forcing their will to trump the vision and indeed manifesto of Anet, I certainly hope they all return. Something will be needed to stem the much greater tide of people leaving who were niave enough to believe that the company actually stood by their own manifesto.
“Where on earth am I going to store all these T6 fine crafting mats”
Guardian changes, why I am so upset. Question about the balancing process

Anet, it would make much more sense to raise up perceived weak classes than to nerf perceived strong classes.
This way any change made in response to relentless sPvP whine would not adversely affect the other areas of the game where the vast majority of players reside.
At the very least please return to asking yourself ‘Is it Fun?’ once more before making these changes.
Don’t know if this helps at all, it will depend on the population of the area… but if a skill point is bugged on the main server you can often get it done if you’re able to get yourself onto an overflow server.

Guild: Servius SanctiGuild is still gone after the fix, would you be good enough to look into this for us plz. We’ve lost a great deal of influence, perks, bank, tomes of influence spent etc. Guild does not show up for anyone no matter their zone and we have players playing all maps across the world.
Servius Sancti is now fixed!! We lost the guild influence we hadn’t spent yet but everything else is in order and we’re very happy to have our home back.
Just wanted to thank you for looking into to this and fixing it in such a timely manner. Really appreciated
What if the system used a sort of placeholder recipe set? In other words, allow engineers to “create” their kits by mixing weapons?
For instance, you get three slots in your inventory, that correspond to Kit 1, Kit 2, and Kit 3. Place certain items in these slots, and they generate different weapon types. Pistol + Torch = Flamethrower, using the pistol and torch’s stats to dictate its abilities. Exchange that torch for a Focus, and you get an Elixir Gun that continues using weapon stats. To activate any of these kits, equip the relevant utility and it supplies you with the kit as normal. This would provide several advantages.
1) As long as all kits have recipes, all kits could use standard item stats.
2) If Anet extended the kit concept to the main inventory slot, Engies could equip weapons directly to their weapon choice instead of using a utility skill.
3) It opens up the possibility of customizing kit appearance. For instance, a flamethrower might have different models for the nozzle based on the pistol, and different packs based on the torch.
Love the idea of an engineer actually ‘engineering’ their kit utilites this way and it’s a great solution for the sacrficing of needed stats that equipping kits currently creates.
A solution with less work for the company might be to simply turn up the kits dmg/heals/buffs etc to compensate for the stat loss on equip. It would turn us into glass cannons but that would still be better than the status quo.
I do vaguely remember Anet saying in an ‘ask me anything’ on reddit that they were going to look into somehow getting stats onto weapon kits but have not heard anything about it since then.
Agree with the sentiment of get what we have right first, but for the future, not a kit as such but maybe as an extra weapon i’d love a chainsaw.
Engineer rifle spells and warrior rifle spells seem to be backwards.

Since the range was slashed to 50% of what it was on rifles and pistols in beta… i find them both to be the weapons of last resort and like many here run grenades simply because it and the elixir gun are the only decent ranged options now. And with the broken autotargeting with kit swapping elixir gun is a pain to run anywhere outside of pve.
After playing the warrior with rifle i’d have to agree with the OP that it seems like they got the two weapons mixed up, although i’d hate to lose the rifle from my warrior.

Not sure if this is a bug or merely overlooked.
When equipping any engineer kit, the kit is failing to remember the targeting status it had the last time it was equipped.
To reproduce the issue:-
Equip the elixir gun and set move 1 to autotarget on with ctrl + mouse 2
weapon swap
weapon swap back to the elixir gun.. autotarget is no longer on and needs to be set every single time the swap occurs.
