You oversee the fact that most builds have at least one disable/knockback/stun. Save that for when you see the quickness buff on your enemy and his burst is practically nullified.
There are sigils and traits which grant a chance at Quickness on critical.
Your solution backfires badly if you if you hit one of those.
On a side note, people are ignoring how you can’t have perfect awareness of the field. Even if your eagle eyes can determine if your target has triggered Quickness, what about that ranger up above about to unload on you? You can’t know when someone’s about to drop Quickness on you, especially when you need to be keeping track of so much at a time (quickness/stability/retaliation on enemy, confusion on myself, overall positioning, cooldown timers, etc).
Keep in mind that once Quickness is active, they are already triggering their own disable, much faster than you’re going to be able to realize/assess/use counter.
Preemptive prevention of quickness burst is a lost cause, except in 1v1.
I don’t know if it’s height.
In WvW, people sometimes congregate around and plant siege over at the bottom left supply camp; specifically on the room of the gate you must walk through to get inside.
I’ve found that if you’re generally below there, you can target a player/siege above and use JI to get up there consistently.
I chalked it up to there being a walkable path there and the target is in range, but similar ledges will fail even if a nearby path is even shorter.
I used to use 6 Melandru in conjunction with Lemongrass Soup for truly absurd amounts of Condition Duration reductions, but I’ve since swapped to 6 Speed to try and alleviate the problems with Swiftness-buffed enemies just walking out of melee range.
Where were you when you cast it?
I’ve noticed that the jump puzzle’s flame traps can be ‘tagged’ by a nearby symbol, putting you in combat.
If an enemy hits you with Cripple and walks away, he’s out of melee range.
My WvW build runs truly absurd amounts of Condition Removal, but neither you nor automatic removal is going to act within the split second where you’re still in melee with your target.
When pursuing somebody, they don’t NEED to cripple you for more than that split second; once you’re out of 170 range your damage is gone.
At this point, you need to remove cripple or wait it out, then blow a gap closer. If they use an escape skill or cripple you again, that’s that, they’re gone.
Swiftness is more helpful to our enemies than it is us. Staff’s the only weapon we possess with it, and its duration isn’t very long. Switching mid pursuit to refresh it is generally not a good idea.
Retreat/Save Yourselves have heavy 48/60s cooldowns, and take up valuable utility slots. But then, if your opponent is also using swiftness, then you’re not gaining ground regardless.
If you DON’T have Swiftness, you’re basically autocrippled compared to a class that has easier access to Swiftness.
The main problem I see with Ring of Warding is the immobility you have during the cast time.
All too often, the target you’re on will slip out of it before you finish casting. You practically need to be ahead of a runner to snag them, which will also fail if they just stop or step to the side.
Hammer’s got no real closers on its own. It’s a pain that this ability, which is so good for maintaining melee range on someone you’ve managed to get on top of, is so finicky to land consistently.
A good portion of the above advantages are nulled when you’ve learned enough about WvW, and if you utilize serverwide VoIP to stay in the loop on current strategy.
For the most part, you can be useful just by keeping close track of the flow of battle in the zone and placing yourself where you’re most needed.
Ehmry took a gigantic lead overnight; about 20k. Last time we (NSP) were against EB I don’t remember there being a real night presence on either side. Looks like that’s changed.
On the other hand, NSP controls about 2/3rds of the world at the moment, so that gap may close quite a bit.
I’m really hoping this doesn’t turn into us just taking each others’ stuff when there’s no enemies online, the battles were really good (and closely matched) up until I logged off yesterday.
Territory control right now is at:
