the first few times i ran into this my jaw hit the floor after seeing how fast i died.. however learning the classes that do it and when they normally do it its easy enough to dodge out of so i dont think this needs to be nerfed or changed at all, you take a few hits but once you have your distance they’ve already burnt it and are pretty much screwed
i got this done in WvW over the course of a few hours at level 40 easy enough
i play a thief as the knock back isn’t as much of a pain as you’d think with all there shadow step abilities, you’ll want to have a few cripples to slow them that will give you the best distance, and if you cant et away , dont show them your back or side, depending on the build the thief is running they get a massive boost to damage if your not facing them
depends where you are looking, in Spvp i see tons of mesmers and they are a pain to kill, but in the open world i hardly see any
wvw during seige defense or small groups that hit an area , get out and hit somewhere else generlly make tons of xp, once you get in a zerg vs zerg stand off its fun as hell but generally the xp rolls in a bit slower
i really have no problem with the downed skills for my thief in pvp
if you have friends on a differnt server thats pretty much your only option, but if your friends are on the same server you may get landed in the wrong overflow, they are adding an option to stay in it if you want
and the fact at 80 you can take the time to use armour sets with certain bonuses to push your character more in the direction you want for your play style, instead of just randomly equiping something around your level that may also help
you can just scrap this, im back on my server sense the transfers are easy and all my guild points are still there
my 4 year old just started saying sorry when i went to the screen that transfers back… i think i may know what just happened
umm i just got home from work and logged on… im from the stormbluff server so im kinda of wondering why all of a sudden myself and the guild im leader of is on a German server called Dzagonur (DE) and where all the guild influence that had been built up went… did i miss some sort of mandatory server transfer ? and if so why the heck am i on a server where i cant understand anyone
ele’s can actaully get healing set armour at 80 that boosts healing and condition with every aditional set peice you have so i would say they would be the best for end game heals as long as your sporting that set of armour
i would have to agree with this… a number of times i’ve waited threw a 3 hour que to end up getting an error once in the wvw , i send the report then get to wait another 3 hours to get back in even though i’d only been out of game long enough to file the report
its random to a point every class that you use steal on has 1 of 2 possible options and im borrowing this from lowell’s guide that i found on google :
Thief:
•Blinding Tuft: It gives you 3s of stealth and blinds nearby foes. It’s very good.
•Drink: You take no direct damage for 3s after using this spell. It would be crazy if it did not have that long cast time Still very good!
Necromancer:
•Skull Fear: A 3s AoE fear with a short cast time. Arguably the best item you can steal.
•Throw Gunk: This item shines when you immobilize someone in the Gunk. If you manage to do it, it’s one of the best items you can steal.
Warrior:
•Shoot Rifle: This is an awesome steal if you are fighting a warrior 1v1 on a point and need to take him off the point to neutralize it. You just have to knockback him with the Rifle and to immobilize him outside with Devourer Venom.
•Whirling Axe: It’s the highest AoE damage item you can steal and it’s easy to land. Very good!
Engineer:
•Rusty Scrap Strike: 10s of Bleeding and Poison with 13s of Weakness (remember Lotus Poison) makes it a very good item. However it’s a lot harder to land than some other, because it’s a melee item.
•Throw Gear: 2s stun 900 range This spell is a 2s stun with 900 range. Sounds crazy, right? Well, it has a long cast time and a long travel time, it’s easy to dodge/interrupt. Not as sexy as it sounds, but still good. Try to use it as a follow-up to another stun or on an immobilized target.
Mesmer:
•Consume Ectoplasm: Well, that one is easy. All the boons in the game for 10s on a 1s cast time. One of your best steals.
•Torch Strike: 10s burn + damage Does decent damage and applies a 10s burn which makes it an extremely good damage steal if you run an hybrid build. Like all the melee stolen items, it’s hard to land compared to the others.
Elementalist:
•Ice Shard Stab: A melee range 10s Chill. Hard to land, but very strong.
•Use Scepter: Time to wear a hat and unleash the Harry Potter that you’ve been trying to hide for all these years. Magical steal, which means random steal. You have a 50% chance to do a 2s melee range single target stun and 50% chance to do a 10s AoE burn around you. Both are extremely good if your build is hybrid.
Guardian:
•Use Staff: Harry Potter is never over! 50% chance to apply a ranged 1s stun that bounces between 3 targets. 50% chance to throw a fireball that will deal a good amount of damage and inflict a 5s burn to a single target. One of your best steals in a team fight, if you are lucky that is.
•Mace Head Crack: Back to the melee stuff. This one is a melee range 4s daze. It’s one of your best steals if you manage to land it.
Ranger:
•Healing Seed: Time to unleash the… GARDENER in you! Always dreamed to plant a tree? Guild Wars 2 will allow you to do it! The Tree is a Combo Field: Water, pulses 5 times, gives Regeneration and removes 2 conditions with every pulse. Oh did I tell you that it worked for all your nearby allies? It has a cast time that roots you while using it, but it’s still one of the very best items you can get.
•Throw Vine: Makes you throw a vine (for real!!) that immobilizes your target for 5s. It is easy to dodge if you throw it from far away, so try to throw it to a target that is close to you. A 5s immobilize is insanely good to take down the target your team is focusing during a team fight.
the fact you just said wow was the first mmo really speaks about how much you know…
hit H go to your pvp tab at the bottom and at the top of that there should be a thing that says go to the mists or something that will port you to the spvp area
i came from the first game but loved playing my monk in it… which they never brought over, there are alot of good guides already made up depending on whether you enjoy pve or pvp a quick google search can find those. as far as the servers go there hard to say servers like jade quarry which where suppose to be the top of the top pvp servers ended up getting boot stomped by us during regular game time play so i’d say its still to early to determine which the good servers are
if you follow the ingame economy the gem market will rise and fall like stocks, it may be a bit easier to buy the gems with ingame currency at a fall in price
i dont know about the rest of the people here but im about 40 levels ahead of my pve zones due to the fact that i do a bit of everything from WvW to craft to exploring… with a fair bit of WvW
the goals are there you just now have the option to set them to be geared more towards what you enjoy, whether its hitting a certain pvp rank or clearing a certain dungeon
not i , i did however notice alot more junk drops over the last few days in WvW drops instead of badges and armour
